Welcome to the biggest and most important Moduwar update yet!
This update brings a huge expansion to the campaign, the world, and the way Modu evolves.
Summary:
3 new levels!
Including tons of new NPCs, human bases, and some major storyline surprises.
3 Modu factions!
Human-Modu — the faction you play through most of the game.
Free-Modu — roaming around Arkadia, trying to survive.
Chimera-Modu — serving the terrifying Chimera race.
3 new organs!
Each faction will eventually have 3 unique special faction organs.
For now, each faction gets one powerful new organ:
Pulse Generator — Human-Modu
Ice Spikes — Free-Modu
Vile Tumor — Chimera-Modu
You will encounter these factions throughout the campaign, and you can also play them in Skirmish and Multiplayer modes.
Tons of quality-of-life improvements!
Including a much-requested Grow Menu upgrade that finally shows which organs unlock which.

The story
THREE NEW CAMPAIGN LEVELS: packed with gameplay, story, monsters and characters.
THREE MODU FACTIONS: Human-Modu, Free-Modu and Chimera-Modu
...each with its own look, and its own faction-exclusive organs.
NEW ORGANS: the Pulse Generator, the Vile Tumor, and the Ice Spikes.
THE HUMAN WAR MACHINE: swim near a human base you will see turrets, anti-air missile defenses, machine-gun boats, mortar boats, patrol ships, tow ships and fortified bases - the humans now field a real army, and you might fight alongside it.
- NOTEWORTHY: the first time a Modu flies
Factions & new organs
Faction framework: every player in every level now has a proper faction. Can be selected in Skirmish.
Faction visual suite: new look variations for each of the 3 factions
Pulse Generator (Human-Modu): periodically blasts enemies away from your
body - the anti-swarm organ. Nearly impervious to melee attacks.
Vile Tumor (Chimera): provides poison ammo that makes your enemies suffer over time. The vile tumor can also be attached to a victim Modu - now it is their problem. They will be sick for a long time…
Frost (Ice) Spikes (Free-Modu): has +3 armor and blocks all incoming shots.
If anybody tries a melee attack on it, they get impaled on ice and take extra slow damage.
Ice Spikes and Vile Tumors now appear in the hands of enemies across the older levels too - the campaign fights back with the new toys.
New NPCs, monsters & the human army
Sea life got dangerous: bubble monsters, roaming machines, and deadlier versions of existing monsters (Giant Starfish?!)
Around 9 new NPC types - both organic and mechanical
Human bases are alive: rotating machinery, changing lights, and generators wired to the heavy gates - kill a generator and its gate falls.
Balance changes & tweaks
Ramming reworked for every melee creature: the lunge is slower and weightier - a committed strike - dealing more damage both to your enemy and to you. Ice spikes enhance it further.
Mothercreatures shrug off chip damage: hits of <1 damage are ignored half the time, so cheap poke spam no longer slowly whittles your heart down.
Audio
Some NPC sounds are less annoying and intense (looking at you Wasps)
The new levels are fully voice-acted with studio recordings (including 4 voice actors!)
UI & quality of life
The build/grow menu now teases what you could grow: an organ locked only by a missing prerequisite shows as a dark silhouette with a red "Requires: X" hint instead of being hidden.
Objectives can now show progress bars, and multiple map alerts can fire at once.
Levels can expand in size the map dimensions.
Organ tiles show their single nutrient slot centered in the bar, and health bars were polished.
Performance & tech
New environment rendering method: the most dense environments with enormous numbers of objects are now rendered fast through a special GPU-instancing pipeline.
Assorted performance cleanups across the UI and simulation.
Fixes
A rare bug that could leave a creature broken or even invisible after a split or merge is fixed.
Mogar is feeling much better: it can destroy Chimera ships once again, and no longer gets confused when it has no eye left to drop.
Modu wasps no longer attack peaceful Modu.
Projectile volleys no longer freeze in mid-air when their target dies right before impact.
Lungs no longer take in air while the creature is underwater.
Skirmish map borders fixed on all maps.
Quality settings now apply the option you just picked, not the previous one.
Fog-of-war glitches on several sea creatures fixed.
The camera no longer misbehaves when rotating on maps with limited bounds.
Several rare crashes fixed (weapon targeting, level objectives).
And many smaller fixes everywhere.
Localization
Localization strings and localized subtitles for all the new content.
