Full Steam announcements and update articles for this title.
Survivors, listen to the message from the Zaslavie Commissary! New intermediate update just launched, and here is what changed in the Zone:
Locks. Now you can craft and set up padlocks to lock doors and containers to keep your stuff safe and restrict entrance to rooms in your bunker. Or exit – the choice is yours.
Masks and hats are now separate items, so you can wear a gas mask and a ushanka at the same time.
Items now have stats in the description so you can compare the damage and protection of your gear.
Drag-and-drop swap in inventory added.
Hardcore mode respawn fix. Now it really is a one-life mode.
Crawfish are now more vulnerable to melee weapons.
Dwarves keep their inventory after shinings.
Crafting stations overflow bug fixed. Your grilled cockroaches are now safe!
Traders are now showing item stats.
Baba Yaga hut instakill bug fixed.
New locations in the City and Nuclear Bunker biomes.
New posters.
Cigs are now 20 stack
Military rig fixed
Various bug fixes and improvements (including seasons, which, in fact, were not fixed enough in the last update, and we already sent the comrade dev to GULAG again).
We are still working on the new content update and improved building systems for the next update. Please stay tuned for the upcoming news!
We also wanted to share some news about the recent Free Weekend event. More than 600k new survivors joined the Zone over the weekend, skyrocketing CCU to over 18,500 and putting MISERY on the Steam front page.
We are incredibly grateful for such interest from players and thank you for all the support, valuable feedback, and ideas you share with us. As always, we read ALL the comments and form our roadmap in accordance with our vision and your feedback. However, such exposure and a no-cost barrier brought in some troll reviews, together with really great constructive critique and kind words.
You can really help us by writing a review based on your real experience, just to balance out trolls (positive or negative – up to you!). Ratings are extremely important for indie games like MISERY, and Zaslavie will appreciate your help here!
The team continues working on the new Factory biome, new monsters, gear, hazards, and artifacts. It is a big chunk of work, and we want it to be polished and interesting, so please bear with us here – it will be worth it! You can already see a new level of detail in new locations. That will be a base level for the new biome, and eventually, we will rework and improve all the current locations.
This is our main goal at the moment, but in the meantime, we will release smaller updates that add new content to the game.
For Zaslavie!
It should not disappear with all your hard earned gear anymore.
The comrade who made these faulty mannequins will spend 1 day in GULAG for this fault and all his gear was reclaimed by the state.
Survivors, please listen to a new announcement from the Zaslavie Commissary.
A new update just hit the store, and here is what changed in the Zone:
You can now create worlds for up to 10 players. Please note that to host games with more than 4 players, you will need a high-power PC and strong internet connection. Otherwise, your guests will experience issues. In Zaslavie - YOU are the server.
3rd person view. Hit V to switch between 1st person and 3rd person camera. It runs pretty well, but you may encounter some issues - just report them, and we will fix them.
Mannequins and weapon racks. You can now find or craft special items to display your weapons and clothing in your bunkers.
Crawfish behavior change. They are now mostly peaceful and will only attack when it is raining or if they are harassed. However, crawfish now give you insanity when you are near them, which is understandable. Oh, and swampers are now also aggressive when it is raining, so be careful around them. We will further improve how weather and day-night cycles affect gameplay in the future.
Season cycle fix. Seasons now change every 10 days and are cycled, so you will have more variety in Zaslavie's scenery.
You can also choose the starting season in custom games.
Dwarf power generator output doubled.
Twins now take grenade damage.
You can now toggle the compass on and off.
Batteries and generators now retain charge when picked up and replaced.
You can now only sell items if they are empty, to prevent accidental selling of important items.
Food spoiling/refrigerating timers fixed.
Failing save bug fixed. There is still one problem - sometimes saving takes a long time. We will fix this in the following update, so just wait a bit for now.
Death in the initial evacuation phase bug fixed.
A couple of new points of interest in the Village biome
Minor bug fixes (your favorite!)
There could be some bugs and imperfections, so please report them and we will hot fix.
In the next update, we will focus on building system improvements, so please share your suggestions on what you want to add or change in building and decorating mechanics. New objects, new features in electrical engineering, etc.
We are also working on the new location - Megafactory, and here is a quick sneak peek into one of the sub-locations. It is heavily WIP, and the new biome will include new items, new monsters, furniture, and even a whole new faction - United North, further expanding the story of Zaslavie and its neighbors.
As usual, thank you so much for your support, suggestions, and reviews via email, Discord, Telegram, and here on Steam. We read EVERYTHING, and you help us shape our plans for development.
For Zaslavie!
What's new in the Zone:
Pause in single-player mode. Just hit ESC and enjoy your bathroom break.
New compass model. Now you can navigate with higher precision.
Bugfix: Large crop box slots functionality fixed + infinite production bug fixed. Sorry!
Bugfix: Double sound effect on item consumption removed.
Now, after a panic attack, you can relax and get yourself together (meds help a lot).
Now you slowly lose your mind in the nuclear bunker.
Fixed fence model + various fixes with materials and the environment.
Minor bug fixes.
We are now working on a cool big update that you can expect in around 2 weeks or so, but meanwhile - enjoy the minor bug fixes.
For Zaslavie!
Survivors, please listen to this important message from the Zaslavie administration!
A major update just dropped, and here is what changed in the zone:
4 new difficulty presets - Explorer, for those who want to chill and explore; Adventurer, for those seeking a balanced experience (as is); Survivor, for seasoned Zone veterans; and HARDCORE, an insane challenge for real psychos, permadeath included.
Besides predefined settings, you can create your own custom experiences where you can change all the major settings - from the day/night cycle, expedition timings, enemy strength, and loot to friendly fire, permadeath, and pooping on and off.
Achievements - over 30 achievements added. Some achievements can only be earned on HARDCORE.
Full Steam Deck and Gamepad support - you can take MISERY with you to the beach or subway and struggle comfortably in your recliner. A Steam Deck verified badge is incoming.
Steam Cloud saves support - you can now easily play MISERY on multiple machines or keep your saves when you reinstall the OS.
New climbing mechanic added - you can now, well, climb ladders. What ladders?
Yes, more vertical and complex structures are coming, and you can already find some of them in the suburban biome in this update. More reworked and improved locations are coming soon, and we are also working on a completely new biome - Megafactory.
New locations and improved ambient added in the Nuclear Bunker biome.
Broken weapons system reworked - now you can sell rusty weapons to the trader, and the repairing economy has been rebalanced. With a small chance, you can also find non-broken weapons in the most dangerous places.
You can also sell more items to traders, making looting radioactive ruins much more rewarding if you're lucky and can get back alive.
Food system changed - now most of the food you find in the zone is spoiled, edible but bad for your health. You can buy good food from traders, and do not forget to keep it in the fridge! In the next updates, we will add more functionality to cooking.
Teleporting Ghoul bug fixed.
Optimization and overall performance improved, with various bug fixes and improvements.
Localization updated.
You can now pick up mushrooms again!
Sneak peek of new locations + a little spoiler
For the last month, we have been focused on fundamental refactoring, preparing the game for expansions, and building a team.
We now have a small but mighty team that works on the game, and we are set for steady content delivery. You can expect regular updates with new locations, new monsters, items, gameplay improvements, and new mechanics. We listen closely to your feedback and use it to build our roadmap - so please continue sharing your suggestions and ideas! Your support means the world to us!
We are also preparing a big surprise sometime later this year, so stay tuned.
Thank you so much, comrades.
For Zaslavie!
P.S. Here is a secret document recovered from the Zone for your reference. We cannot guarantee its authenticity, but it's something.
We hear your feedback, comrades.
Zaslavie commissars have a nice talk with these bunker rats, and they changed their minds.
Barman buys vegetables again.
Weapon repair prices slashed.
A Hamster gas mask is now craftable.
They will think twice before making such moves in the future.
For Zaslavie.
Hello Survivors!
Please read a message from the Zaslavie administration.
We welcome you to the new year! Thank you for being good citizens in 2025. We look forward to all the plans ahead of us.
A new update has just been launched, and here is what has changed in the zone:
ESC crash bug is finally conquered as promised! We appreciate your patience, comrades.
Busel detector lag is fixed.
Merchants do not buy vegetables anymore :( These bunker rats only want “valuable loot” now.
Autosave feature added! Now the game will be automatically saved in a separate slot at every Shining Event. No more lost progress.
Now you can cycle items in quick slots using your mouse wheel.
Enable aiming/running/squat mode switching in the settings has been added – toggle on/off or hold to aim.
You can now use a mouse scroll button to switch the flashlight on/off when it is attached to a gun.
Brightness adjustment added in settings.
You can now close containers with the E button (same as open), a small but very nice fix.
Chicken house (or whatever that thing is) bug is fixed, no more random death and collision glitches.
Screen shake on receiving damage further reduced.
Lots of new items: hats and helmets, equipment and clothing, melee weapons, and NEW RUGS!
New character in SIRZEZ - Technician, he will help you get your rusty scrap in shape.
NOT FOR FREE.
Minor rebalance of item prices, durability, and spawn.
Multiple softlocks fixed on locations.
Slur filter added to text chat.
New visual variations for mutants.
Multiple minor fixes and improvements in UI.
Please note, in this update, some of the texts are not yet translated. We understand that it is important to play the game in your language, but we did not want to make you wait for these important fixes. A localization hotfix is coming in the following days. Please let us know in the comments if you like this rapid approach or prefer to wait for more “polished” updates.
In the next update, we will be focused on fixing the performance in the Khruschevkas zone, overall stability of the game, and then we can finally move full on to more global updates and content - advanced gameplay settings for servers, mods support, new locations, new mutants, new weapons, etc.
Thank you to all the players who shared their ideas for new mutants, locations, and anomalies, it was incredibly helpful. We really, really like your ideas, they inspire us a lot!
We also wanted to share that in mid-February, we will update the price of the game closer to the market level. Still affordable and adequate for an indie game, though. We appreciate our players a lot, and as the game progresses and evolves, we feel that pricing MISERY as a survival adventure, rather than a friendslop, makes sense. This change will help us to keep working on the game and bring new content to you in the following free updates. So I guess you might want to grab MISERY while it is still a steal!
For Zaslavie!
UPD: YOU CAN SELL VEGETABLES AGAIN
We hear your feedback, comrades.
Zaslavie commissars have a nice talk with these bunker rats, and they changed their minds.
Barman buys vegetables again.
Weapon repair prices slashed.
A Hamster gas mask is now craftable.
They will think twice before making such moves in the future.
For Zaslavie.
Good day, comrades.
You made Zaslavie proud this year, so we decided to drop another update before the New Year, so you can have a good holiday time.
Here is what changed in the Zone:
No. More. Desyncs. Yes, we reworked the multiplayer code, so there should be no more map desyncs. And yes, it solved the void bug as well. Finally. It is such a relief!
Single-player mode has been added. You can just press one button and start playing: no internet connection and no server setup required.
Shinings counter fixed, no more resets.
New anomaly spotted. Be super careful, or it can spill you all over the place.
RGD-5 balance updated.
Now you can open the menu while dead. It should allow you to kick/ban unwanted players and prevent spawn camping.
Now you can change FOV in the main menu.
Pixel font changed, and now Chinese, Polish, and Turkish localizations have no missing characters. Sorry, our Polish, Chinese, and Turkish comrades, it took so long to fix.
New Feedback button in the main menu. If you want to send us feedback, tips, and suggestions - click it.
You now can cancel placing furniture and building if you click right mouse button. Small but nice improvement.
Kick Player changed to Ban Player. Kicked users are killed instantly and can no longer rejoin your world. Griefers are screwed! Be careful with your new power - do not ban your friends.
Radiation bug fixed. You no longer receive lethal doses of radiation for no reason while chilling in your bunker.
Artifacts’ effects stacking on pickup from the corpse bug has been fixed.
Doors' status desync in a nuclear bunker location has been fixed
White icons and missing textures bug fixed.
Weapon pickup from your corpse bug fixed.
Pickup Confirmation window sticking bug fixed.
Stove collision fixed. Time to coooook.
You are no longer able to destroy the bunker or shop doors with landmines. (Who even came up with that exploit???)
Containers glitch fixed, no more stuck containers.
Mouse sensitivity is now Float, and you can fine-tune it to your taste.
Various minor fixes and changes.
Now we can take a moment, think about our friends, family, and loved ones, have a nice glass of Zaslavie’s finest champagne, and wish you a happy upcoming New Year, comrades! And let the next year be even better!
For Zaslavie!
Hello Survivors! Please hear the message from the Zaslavie Administration.
We just launched a new update introducing a pack of new content and lots of Quality of Life features and bug fixes.
Here is what has changed in the Zone:
Text Chat! While it is great to hear your comrades voice, now you can also communicate with text. Just hit Enter and send your message, and nearby people will see it.
Whistle indicator upgrade. Now you can see the whistle direction even if the person is out of your screen. It is much more convenient to navigate.
Crematorium upgrade. Now you can burn EVERYTHING. All the unwanted items will be turned to ashes inside this beast.
Furniture pickup confirmation. No more accidental destruction. Once placed, you need to confirm that you want to pick it up. On pickup, all the items that were inside the container will be placed in a bag nearby.
Buzzing flies fix. If there are no items left on the corpse, they will fly away. Smart.
Flinch (camera shake on impact) is reduced. Now it won’t be that bad when you catch a bullet. But we still recommend avoiding that. The Zaslavie Ministry of Health warns that lead exposure causes health problems.
The bug where you could not create a new server after exiting to the main menu is fixed. Now you can.
New points of interest in Village and City biomes.
New wearable items.
New furniture and decorations.
NEW YEAR SWAG! It is time to prepare for the main holiday in Zaslavie – New Year! You can find some fine champagne, sweets, a New Year tree, and other traditional stuff to create a truly festive atmosphere in your bunker.
Trees and ground collision in anomalies fixed.
New garage cooperative buildings.
Various minor fixes and improvements.
We are keeping working on the game, everything is going smoothly in development, and we are preparing some great updates in the future. Please keep sharing feedback and suggestions, it is very important to us. Tomorrow will bring more good news, so stay tuned, and thank you for your amazing support, comrades!
For Zaslavie!
Survivors, listen up, we have amazing news!
We finally fixed the bug that caused the sudden FPS drops when jumping or playing the game for a long time.
Now you should have smooth and stable performance! It was a tricky bug in the game logic that caused the problem on some PCs. We know how uncomfortable this was, and we thank you for your patience while we fixed it.
Together with this major fix, we are releasing a pack of fixes and new features you asked us to add:
You can now consume items directly from the inventory.
The voice chat radius increased; now you can hear your comrades better.
Trading interface stuck tooltips bug fixed.
On/Off UI states of crafting station buttons improved.
Fur coat FPV arms visual bug fixed.
Tooltip sizes fixed.
Sapper Shovel description fixed.
Crayfish loot improved - now you can find some delicacies if you manage to kill them.
Crayfish damage sound bug fixed.
Crayfish HP nerfed.
Many small fixes and improvements.
We are now working on a big content update in December and fixing the remaining annoying bugs - map desyncs and Esc crashes, plus various QoL features and fixes that we will release from time to time in-between big updates.
We read all the comments and suggestions, and we now have a list of about 100 features and requests besides our main roadmap.
Please continue, it is very valuable. And it is your responsibility as citizens of Zaslavie!
We also wanted to ask you to nominate MISERY for Steam Awards 2025 if you have not yet. This is a very important event, and it gives games a lot of visibility and helps cut through the noise and big marketing budgets of AAA games. We still have some time before the nomination phase ends on Monday. So take this chance to nominate and support games you love!
There are many great games you can nominate, and our goal is to make it into the top 5 to reach the next round. Some games already have a big audience and will be nominated guaranteed, but for new games like MISERY, we need a little push from our players to get there. So think about it not as if MISERY is the best game of all, but should it have a chance to be nominated?
https://store.steampowered.com/steamawards/nominations/2025
We appreciate your support.
For Zaslavie!
Citizens of Zaslavie,
It has been a month since MISERY was released on Steam, and since then, against all odds, many survivors have tried their luck in the Zaslavie Exclusion Zone. This is simply incredible, and we are thankful for each one of you!
We are most proud of our strong and active community! You voted for us at the DevGAMM awards, and we won. You helped us return MISERY to Steam. You are posting literally thousands of feedback comments and suggestions for new features and content, and we read and listen.
While we are preparing the big update in December, now is the time to show the spirit of Zaslavie once again!
If you like MISERY, please nominate it for the Steam Game Awards 2025.
There are many categories, and "Better with Friends" is the best category for MISERY and where it truly fits the nomination.
The Steam Awards is an important event that gives games a lot of visibility, and it really is a popular vote where players nominate and vote for games they love. It is especially important for indie games.
This year was phenomenal. There were many awesome games, and we genuinely loved and enjoyed many of them. What is so cool to see is that indie games from smaller, independent creative teams are actually winning without big teams and massive marketing budgets. And it is 100% deserved to see them getting the recognition they deserve!
So please, nominate MISERY in the "Better with Friends" category and vote for the games you enjoyed in 2025!
Zaslavie will remember you and your support.
Good day survivors,
Listen up, a new patch just hit Steam, and here is what changed in Zaslavie:
1. Friends-only servers bug fixed. You should now have no problems hosting or joining servers.
Make sure that you use the SERVER CODE in the search.
2. Chemical Table bug overflow fixes. If you do not have enough space in the bench inventory, products will be spawned on the bench.
3. Now flies are buzzing around your bodies, and decomposition time is much longer. That should help you recover your stuff.
4. Teleporting ghoul bug is fixed. This fella is still VERY dangerous.
5. The emissions counter reset on game restarting bug is fixed.
6. The stuck scope bug is fixed.
7. Two new enemies were spotted in the City zone.
8. Ratwolfs got stronger.
9. A few new locations and points of interest
10. AK magazines bug fixed
11. Artifacts now could be recovered from underwater.
+ Various small fixes, new sounds, etc.
We are still working on crushes and optimization, and a big patch is coming in December, along with new content, but we do not want you to wait for it without nice little updates here and there. While we work on the big stuff, we will regularly release smaller patches.
Thank you for your support.
For Zaslavie!
Great news, Survivors. The DMCA strike was lifted, and MISERY is back in store.
Thank you to our community for the awesome unity and support, it really helped us get through tough times.
To celebrate the peace in Zaslavie, we are launching a special 50% discount for the Supporter Bundle throughout the weekend (If you'd like, you can buy the supporter DLC separately for full price).
Last Friday we received a DMCA strike notice from GSC and MISERY went dark immediately. Same day we filed a counter notice, protesting the clauses listed in claim against MISERY.
This Wednesday we received a message from GSC lawyer team elaborating on their claims against MISERY, and we resolved this misunderstanding.
While we are adamant that MISERY does not infringe on any GSC-owned IP regarding the world, setting, characters, etc., as claimed in the original notice, there were two issues we were not aware of at the time of the strike and which were not mentioned in the DMCA claim.
1. Helicopter model in the files. MISERY is an evolution of educational, non-commercial projects that was trailing for around 4 years and started forming into MISERY in the beginning of 2025. This model was unintentionally left in the resources as a legacy leftover, but it was NEVER used in the game, and players NEVER saw it in the game. This is definitely an oversight on the dev side, but it did no harm. Now it has been found (thanks to community research) and permanently removed.
2. Guitar songs. GSC games used popular folk songs as their guitar melodies, including Tsyganochka, for instance. MISERY dev's friend wrote original covers of some of these songs, and they were used in MISERY as guitar songs. NO ORIGINAL FILES FROM GSC GAMES WERE USED. It turned out that some (not all!) of the songs were specifically written or exclusively licensed by GSC, and they asked us to remove these songs, which we immediately did.
GSC also asked us not to include any references or Easter Eggs related to their games, and while it is sad, and we only wanted to have a love letter homage such as the Arch, we agree and have removed it.
Again, no assets from GSC games were ripped and used in MISERY.
And this is it.
MISERY is inspired by many cultural artifacts, movies, books, games, but it is a totally unique IP.
Zaslavie is not connected to other universes, nor does it use or directly refer to any characters, events, storylines, etc.
We wish the DMCA claim had not been used as the first step in communication. A simple email could have solved it in minutes without any drama, or at least a clear claim on what was wrong in the DMCA instead of just referring to Soviet buildings, plot, storyline, characters, etc., which MISERY clearly does not infringe upon.
But it is what it is. Legally, it is very easy to file a DMCA claim and shut down any game, and the burden of proof of innocence is on the defendant's side. The question lies in the use of such power.
For our team, it was extremely painful financially, as it led to a wave of refunds and just shutting down a game for a week in the release month, which for many is a death sentence. But thanks to your support, we do have resources to continue development. We have now hired a small team to reinforce development, and everything that was promised will be delivered on time. You can expect a big update next month and a series of patches focused on performance, QoL features, and bug fixes (we hear you about patch notes!).
We also want to ask players who negatively reviewed GSC games: we understand you wanted to help, we appreciate you, but please go back and revert these comments if they are not connected to the game itself and were written in support of the cause. We do not support review-bombing practices, they are harmful to the gaming community. And please do not insult other players or GSC, especially using racial slurs or politic themes - this will not be tolerated.
We also expect review-bombing towards MISERY in retaliation, as the whole drama has upset many people. We hope it will not affect us too much, and you can counterbalance it with your honest reviews.
We have established a strict policy on Discord moderation, so no anarchy dumpster fire as it was before.
Once again, we THANK YOU for your support and feedback. Tons of likes, thousands of comments, videos, posts. You literally saved MISERY with your support and we sincerely thank you.
Lessons learned, now back to work.
For Zaslavie!
PS. After MISERY returning, there is a fake DEMO button on the Steam page that does not work and we can not remove it on our side.
We reached out to Steam support already to fix it.
So today we received two pieces of news. One - we won a Community Popular Vote at the DevGAMM Awards, surpassing juggernauts like HoMM Olden Era (very good game!). So thank you for your support!
Another - GSC Game World attacked MISERY with a DMCA strike, and the store page is now suspended, so you cannot buy the game at the moment.
In their claim, they state that MISERY infringes on their IP and that players' reviews mention S.T.A.L.K.E.R., which means it hurts their interests.
This is absolutely untrue, and we will fight back to reinstate MISERY on Steam.
MISERY is a completely different concept, happening in the fictional Republic of Zaslavie, and it has nothing to do with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe, Chernobyl, etc. MISERY uses no characters, plot, storyline, assets, monsters, music, code, etc., from their games. It is all either originally created or legally licensed. We also think that this is an abuse of power against small independent developers by a large corporation, and it should not be a thing.
We do not pose any threat to GSC or their IP, we do not compete with their games, nor do we use any of their IP.
Of course, MISERY was inspired by many things, including games, movies, and books, but filing a DMCA strike for that is wrong. We also want to remind GSC that their games draw heavily from Roadside Picnic and the Stalker movie by Tarkovsky, and they do not own the copyright on depressive Soviet-era buildings, playing guitar, vodka, radiation, or abandoned locations, or even the poo.
We are 100% sure this misunderstanding will be resolved, MISERY will be back on Steam very soon, and we will see many amazing updates and new content. This is very unfortunate and painful for us, both mentally and financially, but the development continues, all the updates will be delivered on time, and soon we can play MISERY again.
Thank you so much for your support.
For Zaslavie!
ATTENTION: Please do not review-bomb GSC Games, do not insult them or other people in comments, especially for their nationality! We do not want or support that.
Hello Survivors,
Over the last week, we have been releasing small hotfix patches, and today we released a patch with major bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and new content.
Thank you for your support, comments, suggestions, and reports. We read each and every comment and track all the complaints and requests. MISERY development is going strong, with the primary focus on fixes and performance optimization, and we are planning a big update for December with new mechanics and content. Meanwhile, we will be issuing regular small patches, fixing the nastiest issues, and adding nice little things here and there.
Also, thank you for so many amazing arts, videos, and screenshots — they give us a chuckle and help us survive these difficult times. Except for the one where a survivor humps a dwarf - this one is...questionable.
Here is what has changed since the release:
New pack of furniture - almost two dozen new items to find in expeditions and bring back to your bunker, including new carpets!
You can now attack and switch a flashlight on/off while running - it improves the experience a lot!
You can now build on the lower level of your bunker
Infinite jumping bombs bug fixed
Artifact effects fixed - now they work in accordance with the description
Tactical Helmet description fixed
Corrupted saves issue fixed (or at least seriously improved!)
Friends Only servers feature added! Now you can limit who can join your world to your Steam Friends and avoid griefers and trolls. Further improvements in server management (bans, etc.) are coming in future updates
Gravity anomaly visibility improved. Now it is easier to avoid if you pay attention
"Please Save" warning on exit added to prevent exiting without saving your world. Autosaves are WIP and will probably come in future updates
Mouse sensitivity improved. The scale is now x2, so you can tune sensitivity more precisely
Disconnect warning and confirmation added to prevent accidental disconnects
Wall placement behind the Crematorium fixed, now you can build there
Cabinets placement improved; now you can space them as you wish so your bunker looks neat.
Garbage bags bug fixed
ESC crash fixed. It was caused by a Windows microphone permission issue. However! There is another double ESC crash bug - it is not fixed yet, as it is rare, and we are still investigating.
Voice Chat high-pitch sound bug fixed
Nights got brighter and more moody.
What we are still working on and will fix with the highest priority:
FPS drops while jumping
Memory leak in long sessions
Double ESC crash bug and other Fatal Error incidents
Desyncs are not yet completely eliminated, but we have made good progress on this
Besides that, about 50 fixes and improvements are on our task list, and as we read through your comments, we add more. All that + everything we stated in the roadmap, so stay tuned!
If you are enjoying MISERY, please leave your review on Steam! It really helps and motivates us to move forward in development.
Thank you again for your incredible support and bravery in the Zone.
Za Zaslavie!
MISERY has sold over 222k copies since its release last week and is taking part in the Steam Scream Fest IV organized by Valve! Thank you all for your support!
Hello Survivors!
So the first day in the Zone was brutal. MISERY has become one of the hottest releases on Steam!
We are happy to see so much excitement, and are crushed to hear that some of you are experiencing bugs and glitches. We read all the comments, and here we want to address the most popular and nasty ones.
So let's have a shot of vodka and begin.
First of all, being a solo developer or a low price is not an excuse, and players deserve a high-quality game. We are now working hard to make MISERY as good, smooth, and polished as you expect.
Mic chimpunk glitch. Some players experience a glitch when their voice chat becomes very high-pitched and distorted. It is a known issue with the sound packet rate, typical of the plugin we use (the same as in other games like Abiotic Factor). The good news is that it can be fixed, and we are working on it now, and it will be fixed ASAP. Meanwhile, you can use Discord when playing with teammates. Voice chat is a super cool feature that adds a lot to immersion.
Location desyncs in multiplayer. Some weird bug happened in the release build. It was not there in the Demo and we did not catch it while testing the game before the release. We believe we fixed it in the patch today, but please let us know if it still happens. It should be absolutely fixable, and most probably it was a silly mistake on our side.
Lost saves. Not a bug, just a bad design. Right now, you (host) HAVE to manually save your world so you can return to it. And there were no warnings about that on exit. The game is p2p, hosted on the host's machine, with no dedicated servers. We will now add a warning on exit and will add the autosave feature in the upcoming patch. Meanwhile, please SAVE regularly! We understand that hurts when you invest your time in building a nice cozy bunker and forget to save your world. We will fix it, promise.
Same thing happens when players lose their loot while disconnecting from the host as guests. We cannot save other players' progress on the host machine, but the loot obviously should not vanish in these cases. We will make a good decision on how to handle these situations.
Crash on Esc. Weird one. Investigating. Will be fixed, no doubt. If you can, please send us your crash logs when it happens - it should be in your clipboard after the crash, just paste it somewhere.
FPS drop while jumping. This is the last instance of the FPS drops. We fixed all the other cases already and are working on this one. Number one priority atm.
Other things we will add\\change in the nearest hotfixes: flashlight switching while sprinting, furniture pickup confirmation to prevent accidental destruction, aim toggle, fov swithing in the main menu, missing symbols in traditional chinese font, anomaly detector sound.
We will NOT remove poo!
We issued the first hotfix today, more hotfixes are coming in the following days, and there will be a big patch next week or so. So please bear with us!
But other than that, we are extremely happy and excited!!!
Thank you so much for all your support, for playing MISERY, for sharing content, for writing guides, and for sharing feedback and questions. We are 100% committed to making the MISERY live up to the trust you place in its potential!
Za Zaslavie!
PS. As many people ask who are "we"? We are Dev + Publisher. Dev = Platypus Entertainment (Maewing), a 19 years old solo developer. Publisher = Ytopia (two-person band). So all the kudos for the game to Maewing!
Survivors, we all waited for this day, and the wait is over.
MISERY has just hit the Steam store, and you can play it now. And it is already trending in the charts, all because of your support.
Please enjoy a release discount and bundles with awesome games you suggested we collaborate with.
We also prepared a deeper collaboration with KLETKA, and you can find outfits from KLETKA in MISERY and vice versa.
You can choose to purchase a Zaslavie Supporter Pack as well. The Zaslavie Supporter Edition is for those who wish to go the extra mile to support the team. This edition includes a beautiful WHITE FUR USHANKA HAT as a token of appreciation. It does not give you any in-game advantages and is not required to have the full experience of MISERY, but it just looks badass.
The game will continue development in accordance with the roadmap, so you can expect more content coming!
We also prepared a cool new trailer you can watch here:
Today we will eat this cake in our bunker for you, comrades!
Za Zaslavie!
Love U,
Dev.
