This update adds a cinematic "show" camera, a first-person workshop walkaround, smarter G-code, and a long list of fixes. Here's everything that's new.

✨ New

• Show camera (F4) — automatically follows your program and frames the action as it runs. On the lathe it keeps a good angle on the cut and stays clear of the chuck and tool holder.

• First-person mode (F3) — walk around the workshop on foot.

• Cross-machine workpieces — open a part you made on a different machine and keep working on it.

• Quick zero-point buttons — set your program's origin to a corner, edge or center of the stock in one click.

• Automatic tool groups — tools are now organized into groups in the tool list.

• More canned cycles — additional drilling and boring cycles supported in G-code.

• Wider subprogram support — both call formats (M97 local and M98 O-program) now run correctly, whichever style your program uses.

• Example G-code — sample commands shown in the INFO tab to make them easier to learn.

• Workpieces are now made at exactly the size you set.

• The tool-path preview now follows tool changes correctly.

• Smoother freehand drawing — now seamless across chunk edges and works while the lathe is spinning.

• Spinning workpieces on the lathe now look correct at any speed (no more frozen, backwards or stuttering rotation).

• Smaller save files.

🐞 Fixes

• Japanese, Chinese and Korean text now shows correctly (no more squares).

• A tool change (M6) now stops the spindle.

• Cutter radius compensation fixes.

• CNC lathe work offsets fixed.

• Feed rate unit can no longer be changed while a program is running.

• Drilling on the lathe now uses the drill's own diameter for cutting speed instead of the workpiece diameter.

• G-code no longer misreads "X+ 10" as X0.

• Invalid characters in file names are now stripped before saving, so saves no longer fail.

• Better quality on the piece that falls away after a cut-off.

• Camera no longer locks onto the workpiece incorrectly at startup.

• Workshop favorites filter works again.

• Fixed an error when the active CNC tool index had no tool on the changer.

🎉 First Working Prototype: Dedicated Hardware Controller!

We've got something special to share with you today — the first working prototype of our dedicated MillingMachine controller is alive! 🕹️

Instead of using your mouse and keyboard, imagine reaching for real handwheels to move the axes, just like on an actual machine. That's exactly what we're building: a custom physical controller with real encoders and a 3D-printed housing, designed to make the simulation feel more authentic than ever.

For now, the controller is set up for the Manual Milling Machine, but it's just the beginning — we'll explore support for the other machines down the road.

This is still an early prototype, but it already works — turning the handwheels moves the machine in real time. There's plenty of refinement ahead (housing, ergonomics, more controls), but we're thrilled with how it feels so far.

We'll be using these controllers for upcoming videos and showcases, so keep an eye out to see it in action! 👀

🛠️ Bug Fixes

- Fixed a crash and broken cutting that could occur after a piece was cut off the workpiece and the remaining part was re-clamped. Cutting now continues to work correctly after re-clamping.

Today I’m excited to officially release the CNC Lathe Machine DLC!

This expansion takes the machining experience to the next level — not just by adding a new machine, but by refining the entire simulator experience across both Lathe and Milling.

Let’s dive into what’s new:

🎥 Brand-New Camera System

You now have two fully functional camera modes:

• F1 – Free Move Camera Move anywhere in the scene. Explore the machine from any angle. Get cinematic shots or inspect details up close.

• F2 – Inspect Camera Bound directly to the workpiece and tool. Perfect for focusing on machining operations and understanding tool engagement.

This makes learning, observing, and enjoying the machining process much smoother and more immersive.

💡 Lighting & Visual Improvements

Both CNC Lathe and Milling machines received:

• Improved lighting across all scenes

• Enhanced textures

• Better material readability

• More realistic metal reflections

The workshop now feels more alive and industrial — especially during active machining.

🧮 DRO Behavior Adjustment (Lathe)

• X-axis can no longer be reset while in ABS mode.

This brings the DRO behavior closer to real-world machine logic and prevents confusion during precision work.

🖱 UI Improvements

• Tooltips now properly disappear when the pointer exits a button — everywhere.

• If the workpiece goes out of camera view, a status bar warning appears, including a button to instantly re-center it.

No more hunting for your part mid-operation!

🔧 Manual Lathe Threading Fix

When threading is enabled:

• Axis movement now only occurs if the machine actually has spindle revolutions.

This improves realism and prevents unrealistic motion when the spindle isn’t running.

Fixed an issue where reaching an axis movement limit would display a tooltip that temporarily blocked keyboard movement for several seconds. Axis movement now continues to work normally even while the tooltip is visible.

Update v1.56 is now live and focuses on improving machining accuracy by fixing several alignment and measurement issues.

🔧 What was fixed

• Vise thickness bug fixed

  • Resolved an issue where workpieces cut along the Y axis ended up thicker on one side

  • This caused uneven material removal when clamped in the vise

  • The vise now holds the workpiece evenly and correctly aligned, ensuring consistent thickness across the entire cut

• Dividing head alignment fixed

  • Fixed a bug where the workpiece was not centered when placed on the dividing head

  • Previously, the part was positioned off to the side

  • The workpiece is now correctly centered, enabling accurate indexing and rotary operations

• Measurement axes after rotation fixed

  • Fixed an issue where rotating the workpiece also caused the measurement axes to rotate, resulting in incorrect readings

  • Measurement axes now remain consistent and correct, even after the workpiece is rotated
