Full Steam announcements and update articles for this title.
Hello! Thank you for all for support through the release of 1.0! We're sorry it was a little rocky.
We wanted to make a post about all known bugs and how to mitigate them until we can get them fixed (target time is within the next week). The bugs will be ordered loosely in terms of severity.
Sometimes choice buttons and menu items will not display if framerate is uncapped. In particular, the difficulty selector when you first start the game and the entrance to Exodus.
If you run into this issue, please play the game with fps capped to 60 for now.
If you attempt to a resume a save generated by the Early Access version of the game (after beating ch. 6 specifically) you may not be able to progress to chap. 7.
There's no fix for this other than starting a new game or using a different save. We highly recommend starting a new game anyway (since there is new content and if you start mid-game with an old save, you will not be properly leveled, since old versions of the game did not have the leveling system or skill points).
After defeating the boss at the end of chap. 1, she can still hit you when the cutscene is starting.
All you can do for now is be careful when you defeat her and try to keep high health. We're definitely going to fix this asap.
As it says in the title, performing a finisher as Amelia in gunslinger mode will do no damage.
Don't use finishers when in gunslinger mode.
If you die before finishing chapter 1, when you respawn the chests cannot be opened again, meaning you lose the items.
Don't die! But to be serious, no good mitigation of this yet. We'll fix it as soon as we can.
We've had reports of the game crashing on some Linux installs.
A user reported that using Proton 8.0.5 to launch the game fixed the issue.
If you run into any bugs, please let us know about them in the Mahou Arms Steam Community. We'll update this post as new bugs/mitigations are found!
Holy smokes, it's been a long time, but we're here at last! Mahou Arms 1.0 is now available! Here's a quick summary of what's been added since the last update:
Three New Story Chapters, and tweaks to the existing chapters (7, 8, and 9)
Leveling and Skills System
A Whole Bunch of Spells to Unlock
More Enemies
Full Voice Acting for the Main Story (Partial Voiceover for the rest)
Animated Opening Movie
Romance Side Quests for Amelia and Susan
With this update, the story of Mahou Arms is now complete! However, we still plan to add additional content, story, and refinements as we go. The promised costumes are next on our priority list, in particular.
If you have been playing Mahou Arms already, we strongly recommend starting a new game to experience the full story, since more content has been added and changes made to earlier levels. It will also ensure you are properly leveled as you progress through the game.
In any case, we won't take up any more of your time. Thank you for your continued support. Go play the game! We sincerely hope you enjoy it. Let us know what you think. Note: The game is currently only out on Steam, we're working on other platforms right now. We were having some trouble with them but decided not to make Steam players wait.
On the heels of the Early Access exit for Mahou Arms, the Mahou Arms Original Soundtrack has been updated with 2 new tracks featuring the opening theme, "Distortion" and an ending version as well by composter Dale North and featuring Pernelle. This is a free update to the soundtrack so users who have already purchased the soundtrack previously will receive these tracks as well.
Check out the opening cinematic for Mahou Arms featuring, "Distortion"!
To celebrate the occasion, the soundtrack will receive a lower retail price moving forward.

Thank you for your continued support of Mahou Arms!
It's release day! We've been getting many questions about when 1.0 will be released, so we wanted to make a quick news post about it.
Currently, we expect 1.0 to be released today at 4 PM PST (around 2 hours from the time of this post). It might be slightly later if we run into any issues.
We had planned to release the game much earlier in the day, but we ran into some technical issues.
Thank you all for your patience, we're very excited for you all to play the final game and are working as quickly as we can!
Hello Commanders,
Thanks for bearing with our silence lately, we've been busy with the final tasks leading up to the 1.0 release. Releasing games is hard...
Anyway, we finished Mahou Arms's opening movie and wanted to share it (it's below). This was the "something special" we talked about in our last post. We also wanted to discuss our plans post 1.0 and outfit DLC.
Softmode aka Paperbag aka Saimon wanted to sneak this animation in for 1.0. Hopefully you like it! Credits are listed below:
Dale North - Songwriting / Composition, Production, Lyrics
Pernelle - Vocals
Softmode aka Saimon aka Paperbag - Director, Lead Animator
himey - Animation
Volatile Carbon aka Jeremy Miller - Animation
ilhamdz - Motion Graphics
We'd like to add more story content post 1.0. More updates on this will come in the future as content becomes ready to show.
Unfortunately we couldn't get these in by 1.0, but character customization and the founder's outfit (image below) will arrive in patch 1.1. We expect this patch to drop within 1-2 months of release. The Founder's outfit will be included for free for everyone that bought the game before July 27th. It will also be purchasable as a separate DLC for everyone else.
The four additional planned outfits will release over the course of a year, as we work on the free story expansion.
Mahou Arms comes in a Standard Edition and a Digital Deluxe edition on Steam. The Digital Deluxe edition includes all of the planned DLC.
If you've been following along lately, you've probably already seen the designs for some of the outfits:
Standard Edition:
Base Game
Digital Deluxe Edition:
Base Game
Original Soundtrack
Founder's Outfit
Lilim Outfit
White Sailor Outfit
Qipao Chic Outfit
Emopunk Outfit
Gimme Everything Bundle:
This upgrades the Standard Edition to the contents of the Digital Deluxe edition if you decide to buy the base game and upgrade later.
Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese languages will be added sometime post 1.0. Additional languages may be added in the future.
And that should be all. If you have any questions, feel free to yell at us on Discord. We're going back to crunching for 1.0 now, see you soon!
Since people have been asking, we can confirm that if you buy the digital deluxe edition now (which currently includes the base game and soundtrack), the additional DLC content will be added in later.
Happy new year! We hope you all had a good holiday season and have been enjoying the new content in the 0.6 build.
First off, we're excited to announce that Mahou Arms 1.0 will release on April 27th, 2026! Please look forward to it.
We would also like to inform you that the price of the game will be increasing by around $10 USD on March 27th (the exact amount will vary based on your region). As we mentioned previously, the early access price was intended to include a 25% discount, which we are now removing since we're close to release. A few important things to note about this increase:
You don't have to pay any extra if you already own the game, in case that's unclear.
The price change will not happen until March 27th, so there is time to buy the game before the price increases if you choose to.
We wanted to raise the price on release day, but Steam doesn't allow price changes and launch discounts to happen at the same time, so we chose March 27th instead.
Finally, we've been considering adding some alternative outfits for Amelia and Susan to the game and it's our plan to include these for free to early access players (you). We're not sure about the details of this yet, but we've been working on some sketches that we'll show soon. If you have any feedback or interesting ideas for outfits, feel free to share! We're open to suggestions.
That's all for now! Thank you for your support. It's been a long journey and we're almost there!

This is the chapter where Susan is introduced during Amelia's absence after the events of Chapter 5. A full length mission in a new map!
Mahou Arms now supports input remapping for mouse + keyboard and gamepads! It also supports both Xbox and PS icons. Sorry this one took a while.

This is a quick notice that we are in the process of adding Steam achievements to Mahou Arms. This means that achievements for the game are now visible, but cannot be unlocked until the next version of the game (0.6) is released. We just wanted to let everyone know so that they don't struggle to unlock them before it's possible to do so.
While we're here, we can also announce that version 0.6 will be released before the end of the month. It contains a new story chapter as well as a number of other improvements. We'll make a another announcement with more details once it's ready.
Thank you all for your support as always and happy holidays!
Thank you all for your support and for following Mahou Arms development! We have some announcements to make about our release roadmap and the scope of the game.
We are nearing version 1.0 of Mahou Arms and our graduation from Early Access on Steam, however Mahou Arms 1.0 will look different from what we had promised at the outset. This is certainly disappointing, but games change as they are developed. We're a small team with limited resources, so we can only make so much game, even if we want to do more. In some ways, the game has already grown bigger than we expected thanks to your support.
There are three main differences:
We will have two playable characters instead of three (more on this later).
There will be no base building mechanics. We prototyped the feature, but it didn't fit in the game well so we scrapped it.
Socialization mechanics will be scaled down in favor of romance quest lines, which we feel is a better fit for how the game has evolved.
On a brighter note, there are things in the game now that we hadn't promised, like increased gameplay variety (drone racing, cyberspace battles, rail shooter sections), combat spells, and settlements with side quests.
So what does 1.0 look like then? Since Mahou Arms is a single player game, we will consider it to be done when the main story quest is playable from start to end. However, we do plan to continue working on the game after release to fix bugs, make refinements, and add extra content. In particular, we would like to add additional side quests, voice acting, translations, and any other in-progress content that doesn't get finished in time for 1.0's release.
As for the reduction in the number of characters, a third character is still a possibility (Seiko is still a part of the story), but two will be our base case. If we add a third playable character, we want to make sure they are refined, fun to play, and well integrated into the story with unique story missions. At this stage we aren't certain we can deliver that with our current resources, but we will see.
In terms of a timeline, we just released version 0.5 and there are three more major planned releases (excluding bug fixes and minor releases). The first release (0.6) will be available in Q4 2025 and will include chapter 6. The next release (1.0) will be available in Q1 2026 and will contain chapter 7, 8, and 9 (the final chapter). We will follow 1.0 with 1.1 sometime in Q2 2026 which will contain the previously mentioned extra content to enhance the game.
Thank you all for being patient and supporting the game. We know it's taken longer than expected, but we're still proud of what we've created and we sincerely hope you will enjoy it.
