When we began working on Lunar Ascendant, we set out to create a narrative-driven political experience inspired by Suzerain a game that many of you deeply love and respect, but in a different setting inspired by the TV show Expanse with our own twist on it.
Today, I want to speak to you honestly. We did not deliver the level of quality that many of you expected. And for that, I am truly sorry. We underestimated the challenge ahead of us.Building a branching narrative exceeding 200k words, spanning 10 Turns of gameplay and offering around 30ish different endings, was far more complex than we anticipated. When we started working, we thought we could finish Lunar in 6 months, it has taken us now around 3 years. The scope of the project grew faster than our ability to polish and refine it to the level it deserved. As the Game Director, I take full responsibility for this.To the fans of Suzerain who hoped for a similar level of execution and depth, I understand your disappointment because as a huge fan I'm disappointed too. Aiming to make a game that you like is fine, but Execution matters. Presentation matters. Cohesion matters. And in those areas, we fell short. That said, I still firmly believe in the story we told. The world of Artemis, a near-future humanity that feels technologically distant yet painfully familiar is a story worth telling. A story about AI governance, Colonization of the near space and specifically the Moon, scarcity of resources, population control, oppressive systems, the desire for independence, globalization, and the fragile balance between survival and freedom. The narrative itself is strong. Our implementation did not do it justice. And that is on us. That is on me for not taking care of production the way it should have been done. We are not abandoning Lunar Ascendant:- We will continue fixing bugs. - We will smooth out narrative transitions. - We will improve mechanical clarity. - We will enhance the visual representation of Artemis and the consequences of your decisions. This game deserves refinement, and so do you.Thank you to everyone who gave it a chance. Thank you to those who criticized it honestly. And thank you to those who still believe in what this project can become. For us, it's going back to work, and we WILL keep working. The game is Live! Hope you enjoy our Story. We have worked on creating Lunar Ascendant and the Lunar Colony of Artemis for almost 3 years now.
200k+ Words
10 Turns with hundreds of Story Flows
Decisions, Critical Reports, Social Media (Moonologue), World Decisions, so much stuff for all of you to explore.
Hope you enjoy it! If not we will do our best to fix and upgrade the game, as for us the Release isn't the end, but just the beginning.
