Nominate Long Gone Days for the Outstanding Story-Rich Game Category!

Hi everyone! We’re releasing a new patch for Long Gone Days in which we addressed several issues found by the community during this past week. We want to thank both our Discord community and everyone on the Steam Forums for being such a big help, by reporting every bug they’ve found. Thanks for taking the time to file a ticket and for your patience! Some of the major issues being addressed are:

• Fixed black screen covering battle outside of the NSB HQ.
• Fixed issue causing a battle not resuming after a cutscene was displayed.
• Fixed stats possibly reaching negative values.
• Adjusted stat percentage gained or loss after using buffs and debuffs.
• Fixed softlock on Ivan’s house when interacting with a newspaper.
• Fixed event on PL Warehouse forcing the player to fight a battle again.
• Fixed “Encrypted” side quest progression being blocked.
• Adjusted target morale needed before starting “The Tickets” side quest.
• Fixed “Belladonna” being unable to be used on certain conditions.
• Fixed softlock related to picking up the medicine multiple times in Aleksander's apartment.
• Fixed party members' portraits not updating after reviving them in battle.

This patch will also include fixes to other bugs regarding equipment items not displaying their correct stats, clipping and layering issues found on certain levels, corrections made to both localization and text not being translated by a party member and other minor fixes. We’re glad to share a new progress report! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25870705/a5be6d208c8b1e7abd741db3a0a684d56e254bd4.gif First of all, we know that we’ve been silent for a while, and we’re sorry about that, but it’s because we’ve been doing some work behind the scenes and found a new publishing partner that will help us bring Long Gone Days to all of you! This means we’ll be able to do some exciting things we couldn’t achieve on our own. There will be an official announcement with our new partner soon and we’ll share more details regarding what it will mean for Long Gone Days and its full release. Rest assured that the game is in good hands (we wouldn’t have signed with a publisher if it wasn’t one we really liked and trusted) and we can’t wait to tell you about all the things we’ve been working on. Hi everyone! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25870705/d4e59d8907ee34b0c284d52af7bb845eefad4e7a.gif Here’s a new report on what we have been working on during these past few months. Since the beginning of the project, one of the pillars of our game has been the Morale system. Our intention with this system was to show how the events of the game affected our characters, for example how they would react to certain dialogues, how their relationship and trust would change, and how it would affect the ending of each chapter. The way we decided how morale should work in the game never convinced us 100%. Particularly the way it was linked to the battles, where sometimes it was counterproductive to use skills, or even the benefits of having a state such as “Euphoria”. Taking these factors into account, we took the decision to make some changes that greatly improve the experience. These changes will be released alongside the last chapter of the game, but they will affect previous chapters. Morale will no longer be used in battles, and will be replaced by Skill Points (SP). At the same time, Morale will become a feature that will only affect the game's narrative, in a bigger way than it previously had. It will also continue to be a determining factor in how Rourke and the others react to certain events in the story, and how they perform in their fight against The Core, without being an obstacle during battles. These last couple of months we’ve been working on the very last dungeon of the game and some sidequests for chapter 4. We've been asked a couple of times if there are going to be significant changes to the game. It’s been a couple of months since our last update so it’s time for a new progress report. We’ve continued to work hard on Long Gone Days, and development is going great! The chapter we’re working on (Chapter 4) is the last one of the game, and it’s about as long as Chapter 1. It also has two different endings, which are directly linked to several choices you made through your journey. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/25870705/b0063c60fdd2028b4f92251cc9891b850420522c.jpg Besides that, this chapter has many cinematics and intense moments that require more animations and illustrations than the previous chapters, so while it’s looking better than ever, it has also taken us a bit longer than we thought. Rest assured we’re working on it every day and everything’s been going smoothly! On top of that, we’ve also been working on a completely new original soundtrack, by Sebastian Marin who composed the theme we used in our latest trailer. Regarding our schedule, we know the most asked question is when will chapter 4 come out, and while we can't tell a specific date yet, we can confidently say that it will be released in 2020. The main reason why we've taken longer than usual has to do with the crisis that Chile is experiencing these days (today marks 65 days since it started), and considering that we are writing a game that involves many of the things that we are experiencing today in our own flesh, it has affected us a bit. On the other hand, we have also dedicated some of our time to support the social movement (Camila released this free short game inspired by the low wages and high living costs in Chile: https://laburatory.itch.io/nanopesos for example). Starting from today, you’ll be able to play chapters 2 and 3 of Long Gone Days. In this chapter we’ll be able to explore a whole new city, and two new dungeons. You’ll also get to know better your party members, and meet some new ones too. This new story update will add 4 more hours of gameplay, with more people’s lives to change through sidequests, and more intriguing enemies to meet. This update will also feature a few changes to Chapter 1: Ivan will now help you in battle with a unique ability called Boost. Boost has a chance to buff one of his allies stats (attack, defense or agility), and it also has a chance to heal them. Its effect will be determined by Ivan’s equipment, so be on the lookout for new items while exploring the world. We also rebalanced all the battles and items you can find, to achieve a more consistent experience. It is also important to note that old savefiles will no longer work. We have added a button on the title screen so you can continue playing from the ending of Chapter 1. Here’s a change log for all the details: 1. Chapter 2 & 3 added 2. Added PS4 & Xbox controller support 3. Re-mapped keyboard keys. New controls are: X to accept, C to cancel/open menu, V to fast forward dialogues, and arrow keys to move. 4. Added “Chapter 2” button to title screen to start playing from there 5. Changed title screen 6. Changed game over screen 7. Changed Lynn and Ivan’s portraits 8. Increased Rourke’s base speed (walking and running) 9. Made Ivan usable during battles (starting from chapter 1) 10. Rebalanced items quantity 11. Rebalanced equipment stats 12. Rebalanced enemies 13. Fixed lots of small, medium, and large bugs reported by the community 14. We are happy to announce that our next big story update is coming out next month! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/25870705/96c5081462ddd4697fa6761495b08ec0f7cb6a77.gif On July 25th, the game will be automatically updated on Steam. Several changes and improvements were made to the first chapter, so we recommend playing it from the beginning, but otherwise, we'll add an option to start directly from Chapter 2. We’ll write a more detailed log on July 25, but here are some of the things included in this update:

• PS4 and Xbox controllers are now supported
• Rourke’s walking speed has been raised
• Battles, equipment, items and rewards have been rebalanced
• Ivan can now be used in battle
• Lynn and Ivan’s portraits have been revamped (See here and here)
• About 3~4 hours of new content (which means the game is now about 8 hours long)
• More instances to get to know your party members
• More narrative-focused sidequests
• Lots of bug fixes that have been reported by our players

https://i.imgur.com/Eu3pFw9.gif Last year we announced Long Gone Days would be released this coming April, but even though we have been working hard all this time to achieve that, we feel that more time is needed to reach our desired level of polish. When we started working on Chapter 2, we thought it would be ready in just a couple of months. Because the script wasn’t nearly as long as our first chapter, we decided to work on it together with Chapter 3 (there are 4 chapters in total), so we could release both at the same time. On top of that, there were still fixes to be made to Chapter 1, and down the road, we realized that the amount of work required for this update would be even larger than we expected. Still, we made the mistake of believing we'd be able to deliver the full release in April. At the moment, we don’t have a definitive date on the full release, because we don’t really want to make the same mistake again, but we can say with certainty that the next big story update of Long Gone Days is almost finished and will be released really soon. We also would like to take this opportunity to share with you a lot of progress and changes that are included in this upcoming update.
