The teaser for our new project, Backrooms: Rogue 0, is now live — and we wanted to share the news with you!
Rogue 0 is built on the liminal/Backrooms aesthetic, but unlike Liminal Shift, it's a much faster-paced experience — and this time, the Backrooms are not empty. Creatures are waiting inside...
If that sounds interesting, you can learn more on the store page — and most importantly, you can support us by adding it to your wishlist and following the game.
We are endlessly grateful for all the support you've given us from the very beginning. One of the biggest ways you can support us right now is by leaving a review for Liminal Shift if you haven't already. We love you all!
We’re excited to announce that the store page for Backrooms Rogue: 0 is finally live! Thank you for every bit of support you gave us during the development of Liminal Shift—none of this would have happened without you.

You can now visit the store page to add Rogue 0 to your wishlist, follow the game, and learn more about what’s coming. Every wishlist is incredibly valuable to us—thank you so much.
We’re not ready to announce a release date yet, but your support means everything as we continue building Rogue 0. Thank you all in advance!

Thank you for everything—it’s been an amazing journey!
Hello everyone,
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news with you — a surprise update is just around the corner, and here’s what you can expect:
Based on community feedback that the Playrooms chapter felt more like a maze than a true liminal space, we’ve rebuilt it from the ground up. The brand-new version will be available in just a few days!
It will fully replace the old chapter. Players who have already progressed can simply select Chapter 4 and continue from there.
Staying true to our vision, interaction remains a key part of Liminal Shift. In the new Playrooms, you’ll need to open a gate. Don’t worry — it’s not even a puzzle. Just explore, interact with a couple of objects, and the path forward will reveal itself.
We’ve heard your feedback! Around half of the players found the puzzle in Pinkrooms frustrating or out of place. To improve the experience:
The puzzle has been replaced with one that better matches the atmosphere.
Interactions that could cause bugs or softlocks have been fixed.
Significant optimization upgrades have been made across the game.
The VHS setting bug in the options menu, reported by some players, has now been resolved.
NextPhase is also working on a brand-new backrooms game — this time fast-paced, featuring entities, chase sequences, and full voice acting. Stay tuned!
Hello everyone, with this update, Liminal Shift is leaving early access. First of all, thank you so much for your unwavering support from the very beginning! Without you, Liminal Shift would not exist. Now, let's get to the changes, new features, some notes I'll be leaving, and general problems and their solutions.
Autosave has been removed and replaced with a progression system. The game will now secure and save your progress at specific points, and a notification will appear in the bottom right corner when this happens.
You can access the new chapter from the Episode 2 section. Please don't forget to read the notes that appear when you click on Episode 2.
Episode 1 and Episode 2 have been connected to form a loop, which is designed to represent the infinite cycle of Liminal Shift.
The game is very dark: Yes, some levels are intentionally dark. This was done by design. Look around for a glowing light source, move towards it, and you will reach the light. This enhances the tension and atmosphere. There are no sections in the game where you can get lost in the darkness.
I'm having trouble with the settings: Please remember to press "Apply Settings" in the bottom right after changing your settings.
My game is crashing: If the game crashes while a level is loading, the reason is, 99.9% of the time, insufficient GPU VRAM. A minimum of 6GB of VRAM is recommended. As a solution, do not shift your computer's focus to another window while levels are loading. Close any applications that might be using VRAM. If it crashes between levels, it's because the texture data can't fit into the VRAM. Restarting the game and launching the desired level will solve the problem (lowering the resolution, etc., before starting the level can help as it will reduce the VRAM load).
I can't progress in the Pinkrooms level: You can join our Discord server and ask for help, or get assistance from the gameplay videos that will be uploaded to YouTube. The Pinkrooms is an additional level that includes puzzle elements.
The audio levels are very unbalanced: You can adjust all sounds like footsteps, effects, and ambient sounds separately to your liking from the settings menu.
Don't forget to use the VHS mode in the settings for extra realism and a Found Footage video feel.
Thank you again for being supportive throughout this journey from the very beginning. You can reach out to us with all your questions or problems via Discord and the community hub.
Without you, Liminal Shift would not exist. Thank you for everything!
The full version of Liminal Shift, the new chapter, and the new VHS mode will be released on June 24th at 07:00 PM GMT+2! If it's not released, you can check the announcements on the Discord server. Thank you for this beautiful journey.
