Hello Steam,
I made good progress on the game's final update, writing several difficult scenes and rendering them out. The final update is now up to about 2300 renders, but there is still a lot of work to do and I will need at least several more months.
If you're new to the game and don't know this already, Episodes Six through Eight are being worked on simultaneously and will be released all at once. These episodes are each a bit smaller but as a group this should be the game's biggest update, at least by render count.
In June Leaving DNA released its first non-English translation, Chinese. Welcome to our Chinese-speaking friends!
Check out my latest public renders here (Jessa) and here (muscle girls).

Hello Steam,
Well, Episode Five is finally in your sweaty hands. For those of you who have played it, I hope you enjoyed it. I do apologize again to everyone who had to restart due to a bug with some of the saves. I believe I've identified the issue and it shouldn't repeat for the next release.
I am working on the game's final update, which will include Episodes Six, Seven, and Eight. I'm roughly 1,900 renders into it (I'm not starting from zero because I've been working on it while waiting for the animations from Episode Five). I don't know how many renders I'll need for the final release but the final three episodes will be shorter than the three that came before, so I'm optimistic this release cycle will be shorter than the last one.
Less than 10% of those who have purchased Leaving DNA have the achievements from Episode Five (and less than 50% even have the achievements from Episode Four) so I will avoid any direct spoilers. Still, I want to make a comment about the final three episodes and if you haven't played Episode Five then it would be better for you to skip the spoiler section below.
Spoiler section:
There was a lot of sex and romance in Episode Five, the most of any episode. Some of you may have taken that as a shift in the story, and you're thinking that now Leaving DNA will finish out like any other dating sim AVN with cute dates and romantic moments with the LIs. Thinking that would be a mistake.
The opening scene of Leaving DNA is a woman being beaten to death while her child listens. This was done very purposefully. Not only does Jimena's death and the subsequent fallout trigger the rest of the story, but as a scene her brutal murder sets the tone for the rest of the game. The warning page at the beginning says "Leaving DNA contains dark themes of sadness and tragedy." We've hit some of that so far, but the ending scene of Episode Five should indicate that we've still got plenty of dark ground to cover.
I encourage you, as I always have, not to approach Leaving DNA the way you approach any other AVN, with an expectation of fun romantic content for your favorite LI. Now more than ever this will only lead to disappointment. While it does contain romantic choices and adult sexual content, Leaving DNA simply is not a traditional dating sim AVN.

Changelog Episode Five:
23,976 words of dialogue (total 134,742) 3,526 still renders (total 13,414) 4 unlockable bonus renders 89 lewd animations (total 199) 33 music tracks (total 117) Steam Deck support added Updated walkthrough PDF
***Important*** There was a bug when I released Episode Four on Emmeline's path. If you had sex at the end with Emmeline then the game did not record that. The bug was fixed a week after release with Episode 4.3a (February 10, 2025), so if you played 4.3, 4.2, 4.1, or 4.0 then you need to reload from before you had sex with Emmeline.
Thank you so much for all of your support and patience! I hope you enjoy the episode!

PS - If you've been waiting to buy the game I'll be running a sale starting tomorrow.
SEVERAL PLAYERS HAVE NOTIFIED ME ABOUT A BUG WHICH HAS UNINTENTIONALLY BROKEN SAVES AT THE END OF EPISODE FOUR. IF YOU ENCOUNTER THIS, DO NOT IGNORE IT. INSTEAD LOAD AN EARLIER SAVE AND USE CTRL OR TAB TO SKIP AHEAD. I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS ERROR, ESPECIALLY TO THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE HAD TO START OVER FROM THE BEGINNING.
Hello Steam,
We're very close to being finished with the Episode Five animations. Any content for the main girls has been completed. All that remains are four animations from the detached path, which will be about 13 animation cameras to render. Consequently, Episode Five will be released in May. The next time I communicate I'll provide a precise date for the release.

I know it's been a long time to get here; truthfully it's been discouraging. But I'm very happy with the new episode and I think you will be too. The upside is that because I've already done so much work on the final release (Episodes Six through Eight) you won't have to wait as long for it.
Thank you for your patience.

Hello Steam,
In March I rendered out 11 new animations for Episode Five and finished about 200 new renders for Episode Six. It is all coming together.

Hello Steam,
We made some good progress towards finishing Episode Five this month, rendering out 14 new animations. While that was happening I pressed forward with 504 new still renders for the next episodes, which means there are already over 1200 renders finished for the final episodes.
Check out my latest public render here.
Thank you for your patience.

Hello Steam,
In December I told you that all that was left for Episode Five was the animations and that barring some disaster I thought I'd be able to release in February. Unfortunately, we are at that disaster level as there was almost no progress made on the animations during January. I am disappointed to have to report this. I am hopeful we'll be able to get the animations going again soon, but it's not realistic to expect Episode Five in February.
I have stayed busy with development of other aspects of the game and January was one of my most productive months ever as I wrote several new scenes and created 741 new renders for Episode Six through Eight. A reminder that Episodes Six through Eight will be shorter than the preceding episodes and won't be released until they are all finished. So I am currently working on the game's final update.

Thank you for your patience.

Hello Steam,
All that's left for Episode Five are animations. We've done quite a few so far but still have a lot left to do. Other than that, all writing, renders, and coding are all pretty much done and I'll be sending it to my playtester shortly. However, do keep in mind that there is still a lot of work left on the animations. I don't know whether I will release it in January, but barring some disaster befalling my animator it should at least be done by February.
Thanks for your patience! While you're waiting, you may be interested in checking out the "Extras" menu in Leaving DNA, as I noticed that only 15% to 20% of you have played through the bonus scenes. Bonus Scene #4 in particular is guaranteed to entertain. ːsteamthumbsupː

Hello Steam, this is a quick update to let you know I'm still working on Episode Five. I've completed nearly 3,100 renders for this episode and now almost 13,000 for the entire game. Although the game has gotten a lot bigger than I originally anticipated, one purchase still gives you all eight episodes--you don't have to purchase separate seasons for Leaving DNA. I am getting closer to being done, but there is still a fair amount of work left.
In the meantime, you can check out my latest public artwork here:

A quick post to let you know I'm still working hard on Episode Five. There are about 2,650 renders completed and I am currently working through Jamie's exclusive path. I still have quite a lot of work to do and I will not be finished before the end of the year.
Thank you for your patience! In the meantime, you can check out my latest public renders here:

Quick update to let everyone know I am working hard on Episode Five. There are now 2,270 new renders created for Episode Five. Getting closer to being finished but there is still a lot of work left to do, including a ton of animations left to make.
Check out my latest public artwork of Donna Lee here.
If you haven't already seen, Leaving DNA is now in a bundle with three other great games: Heaven's Door, Fog of War, and Office Perks. If you already own Leaving DNA you can still get the other three games for a 15% off discount!
Thanks for your patience everyone!

Just dropping a quick note to let you know I'm still working on Episode Five. I'm up to 1650 new renders and making good progress through the story. Compare that with Episode Four (3751 renders), Episode Three (1896 renders), Episode Two (2536 renders), and Episode One (1705). It's hard for me to predict how much more work I have to do, but there's still quite a lot left. Branching will be the main villain, as each of the four LI romance paths and the "dark path" each necessitate their own coding and renders. I thought this update would be much smaller than it's turning out to be, but I'm running with it.

Hello Steam Community. This is a quick note to let you know that I am still working on Episode Five. If you haven't yet, check out my recent public art postings here:
You may have heard that Steam is removing some adult games due to containing some content they don't like. These games are being retired, and games that are retired can no longer be purchased but can still be played by those who have already purchased them.
I am hopeful that Leaving DNA will not be affected by this--we don't know yet if Steam is only taking out the "worst offenders" or if they will go deeper, but assuming you've already purchased the game then even if it is retired you will not lose access to it. In the meantime, I will finish development of the game and continue with the planned story regardless of what Steam does.
Thanks very much for being patient while I continue to work on the update.
