Full Steam announcements and update articles for this title.
It’s officially been one month since Kuromaku released, and we just want to take a moment to say thank you to every single person who supported the game. The amount of love, feedback, streams, and discussions we’ve seen over the past month has been incredible.
There has been a sale for our game every single day for the past month, and honestly… we’re beyond grateful. What started as a small project, developed over the course of a year with a budget of just $25, turned into something far bigger than we ever expected.
From me, my family, and my girlfriend — thank you. You helped a small indie developer take their first step, and because of you, we’ll be able to continue making more games in the future.
We also want to thank all the amazing streamers and YouTubers who showed Kuromaku so much love. Your videos, streams, and reactions helped introduce the game to so many new players.
For creators who unfortunately could not be added to this game, we sincerely apologize. We will make sure to include everyone properly in our next project, and we truly hope we can count on your support again in the future. Thank you so much for playing and sharing our game with others.
This upcoming update was originally planned to fix the following issues:
• Getting stuck on Night 2 when trying to call someone • Falling down when spamming the spacebar during the “Open the door for me” sequence • The killer looping for longer than intended • Getting stuck near the dining room • Removing the option to go to sleep on Night 2 — you now have to face your fears
The update was scheduled to release between May 5th – May 15th. However, due to technical limitations involving file optimization and the increasing game size caused by these changes, we unfortunately will not be able to implement these fixes and additions as originally planned.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and truly appreciate all the support, patience, and feedback you’ve given us throughout this journey.
This will be our final major post for Kuromaku. From now on, future announcements will mainly focus on Steam discounts and bundles.
We’re incredibly happy with how Kuromaku turned out, and thanks to your support, we’ve already started working on our next project.
Once again — thank you for supporting Kuromaku and helping a small indie developer turn a dream into reality. This is just the beginning. 🎭
We just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who supported Kuromaku — whether you played the game, streamed it, reviewed it, or shared it with others. 🎮✨
Seeing people experience our game has brought great happiness to our small, humble indie dev team. Every video, every stream, every comment, and every review truly means a lot to us.
We’ve also been carefully reading all the feedback you’ve shared. We hear you, and we’re committed to working 10x harder on our future projects to deliver even better experiences. 🚀
We will also continue adding streamers to the Extras/Bonus section and updating the Steam trailer on a monthly basis, so keep an eye out for more community highlights. 📺
Thank you again for supporting our first game. Your support genuinely motivates us to keep creating. We couldn’t have done this without you. 🙌

Thank you for being here 🖤
It’s official.
Kuromaku | 黒幕 will launch on March 20th.
After over a year of development, refinement, feedback, and lessons learned, the full psychological thriller experience is almost here.
Kuromaku is an indie first-person psychological thriller experienced through the perspective of a child left alone for three days. Complete everyday routines, uncover hidden truths, and endure unsettling encounters as your choices shape how the story unfolds.
Steam Next Fest gave us valuable feedback, exposure, and momentum. Now it’s time for the complete vision to be experienced the way it was intended.
If Kuromaku is already on your wishlist, thank you. If not, now is the perfect time to add it so you’re notified the moment it goes live.
March 20th.
The story begins.
KUROMAKU:PROLOGUE
Before the tension builds. Before the psychological descent begins. Before everything starts to unravel…
There was a beginning.
We’ve released a video on YouTube diving into Kuromaku: Prologue — the chapter that explores where the story truly begins and sets the emotional foundation for the full game.
The Prologue gives you:
🎭 The early psychological setup 🌫 The grounded slow-burn atmosphere 🧩 The narrative seeds that grow in the full release 🎮 A look at the origins of the main experience
While the original demo has been removed, we believe presenting the backstory through Kuromaku: Prologue is the best way to properly frame the beginning of this journey.
And don’t worry — the Prologue will also be included in the full game, so you won’t miss any part of the story.
If you’d like to see how it all begins, you can check out the full Prologue video now on our YouTube channel.
Thank you for continuing to support Kuromaku — the full experience is where everything comes together.
To everyone who has been checking out the Kuromaku Steam page, wishlisting the game, or playing the Kuromaku: Prologue on stream — thank you. Truly.
Watching your reactions, thoughts, and community discussions means a lot, especially as a solo developer.
If you’re a streamer or content creator planning to:

Please feel free to reach out to us through any of our social platforms or Discord!

Thank you to the amazing creator community during Steam Next Fest 🙏
1,000 WISHLISTS!!!
Seeing Kuromaku cross this milestone is honestly surreal.
As a solo developer building a psychological thriller from the ground up, every single wishlist represents someone who believed in the concept, the atmosphere, and the story I’m trying to tell. That support genuinely keeps the project moving forward.
Steam Next Fest is a huge moment for visibility, and milestones like this help the game reach even more players who love slow-burn, grounded psychological experiences.
If you’ve already added Kuromaku to your wishlist — thank you. Truly. If you haven’t yet and you enjoy story-driven psychological thrillers, please consider wishlisting the game. It directly supports development and helps the game grow.
