Fixed an issue where players who had previously played Version 1.0 could crash on startup
Fixed an issue where an unintended sequence could play during the ending

Thank you for waiting! Keep Digging Version 2.0 has just been released!
First, please check out the gameplay trailer!
This is a massive free update that rebuilds the game systems and map from the ground up, based on the original Keep Digging.
In this update, the game systems have been redesigned as a survival crafting game focused on digging. We have added many survival-crafting elements, including a completely new procedurally generated 5000m-deep map, an inventory system, tool crafting, forging, the smelter, and enchantments.
There are more than 350 new items. New emotes with special effects, costumes such as samurai and gorilla outfits, and more have also been added, greatly expanding the fun of digging, bringing items back, crafting, and upgrading.
We have also made many quality-of-life updates, including gamepad support, shortcut key support, added graphics settings, support for additional languages such as German, and Steam Deck 60 FPS support.
■ New Item System
In Version 2.0, the item system has been greatly overhauled.
More than 350 items appear in total. You can use materials obtained through mining with the smelter, craft tools through forging, and strengthen equipment with enchantments. The results you earn by digging directly lead to player progression.
More than 350 items in total
An inventory system for managing materials and equipment
Turn obtained ores into ingots with the smelter
Create your own powerful equipment by forging from blueprints found underground
Equipment, blueprints, and orbs have 100 quality levels, so the same item can have different performance
■ Enchantment System
We have added a new enchantment system.
You can craft mysterious orbs with random effects from Gemstones, and by combining orbs with multiple effects, you can build equipment that matches your play style.
Random stats are added each time you craft or combine orbs
Combine multiple effects and refine your choices to create your own equipment set
Enhance digging efficiency, movement, exploration, and more to match your play style
Orb synergies can greatly change equipment performance. Aim for the strongest equipment so you can dig deeper, faster, and stronger
■ Procedurally Generated World
The underground world has also been completely renewed.
Version 2.0 adds a completely new 5000m-deep map. The map is procedurally generated, so each playthrough features different terrain, treasure chests, fossils, and exploration routes.
A completely new 5000m-deep map has been added
Explore a different underground world every time through procedural generation
Route choices for returning safely are now important, not just digging straight down
Fossils and discoveries have been greatly expanded
In addition to digging downward as before, there is now fun in exploring your surroundings, searching for materials, blueprints, and fossils, and creating a route that lets you return safely.
■ Multiplayer
Multiplayer for up to 8 players continues to be supported.
In Version 2.0, PvP elements have been added alongside cooperative play. You can now enjoy not only digging together with other players, but also the mind games of fighting over items.
Online multiplayer for up to 8 players
Explore the underground world cooperatively with friends
PvP elements have been added, creating item-stealing conflicts with other players
Equipment and money obtained in single-player can be brought in as-is
Items obtained in other players' worlds can also be brought back to your own world
You can bring your favorite equipment to help a friend's world, or bring items looted in another player's world back to your own.
■ About Keep Digging Version 1.0
You can continue to enjoy Keep Digging Version 1.0. We have fixed critical bugs and performance issues. You can play it by selecting Legacy Mode from the title screen. Version 2.0 and Version 1.0 use separate save data, so you can play either one whenever you like.
As a gesture of gratitude to everyone who has played Keep Digging, we decided to deliver this as a major free update rather than as DLC or a sequel. We hope you will continue to support Keep Digging and Wild Dog.
Here is a video of our in-house match to decide the No. 1 digging PvP champion. Please try making your own rules and playing however you like!
Thank you as always for your support. Today, I’d like to talk a bit seriously about the current state of the studio and about Version 2.0.
This year, Wild Dog was honestly in a really precarious state. To be completely honest, things were so tough that we weren’t even sure the studio would make it through the year.
In the middle of all that, Keep Digging ended up being played by far more people than we expected, and thanks to all of your support, we now have a realistic outlook that we’ll be able to keep making games next year too.
That said, we’re still just a small indie game studio, and it’s not like we suddenly have a lot of room to breathe. Even so, we want to make sure we use this “barely hanging on” chance to properly give something back to everyone who supported us.
From a business perspective, Version 2.0 is an update that is completely unprofitable — it’s a money-loser on paper. Even so, we decided to make it because we wanted to shape Keep Digging into something that would leave everyone who bought it feeling even more satisfied.
With Version 1.0, we were heavily constrained by budget and time, and there were parts where we felt, “We could have done more.”
Reflecting on that, we decided to create 2.0 as “the best Keep Digging Wild Dog can make right now.”
Originally, we considered releasing it as a paid DLC or even as a sequel. But this time, as an expression of our gratitude, we chose to release it as a free update.
In terms of content, we’re planning:
A completely new stage
Over 300 new items
New game systems such as tool crafting, smelting, and enchanting
New costumes
New trophies
We’re planning to release it this winter, so please look forward to it just a little longer!
From the title screen, you’ll be able to choose between “Version 1.0” and “Version 2.0.”
We’ve intentionally left Version 1.0 untouched. We did consider changing the systems from the ground up, but for those who have been playing since launch, as well as those who will play it in the future, we decided to leave it as is. We do plan to fix minor issues such as bugs at the time of the Version 2.0 update.
Version 2.0 is an expanded edition that significantly revises the systems, pacing, and variety of gameplay.
In terms of feel, you can think of it as:
“You can basically play Keep Digging 2 for free.”
It’s also possible to jump straight into 2.0 without playing 1.0. We’d be happy if you enjoy either 1.0 or 2.0 — whichever you prefer — or both.
We’re also continuing development on our already announced new title, DMZ: Nuclear Survival.
It’s a survival crafting game that massively expands on the digging elements of Keep Digging!
Please add it to your wishlist and stay tuned for more updates.
Thank you very much for reading this far. And above all, we’d like to once again express our deep gratitude to everyone who picked up Keep Digging.
We hope you’ll continue to support Wild Dog and our games in the future.
P.S. The mysterious image shown in this news post was created as a prank by our art director.
It’s been two days since release, and we’re thrilled to see so many of you playing. From the feedback we’ve received, we prioritized fixes for the most urgent issues in this update. We’ll continue development so everyone can enjoy the game even more—thank you for your continued support!

You can now choose between Normal Mode and Performance (Lightweight) Mode at startup. This can help reduce GPU load.
Fixed an issue where CPU usage would spike to 100% during shader compilation while loading maps. Usage is now capped at 80%.
Added an FPS limiter to reduce excessive load on PCs.
Fixed an issue on some systems where holes wouldn’t sync when joining a multiplayer session in progress. If this happens again, we’d appreciate it if you could send your save data to our support email.
Added Y-axis inversion.
Adjusted the digging size for tools and dynamite.
Reduced the obtainable dynamite and WarpStone from 3 to 1.
Removed some fast travel points.
Fixed a bug where the Fill Shovel could clip through the ground.
Other minor bug fixes.
“Please optimize! My PC struggles!” → We’re sorry for the inconvenience. This update includes improvements, and we recognize that further optimization is needed. We’ll continue optimizing for both CPU and GPU. Also, we’ve received reports of severely low frame rates when installed on an HDD. Installing to an SSD is required, so please check your installation location.
White screen at launch / flickering when the game starts → We’ve received reports that updating your graphics driver resolves this issue. Please give it a try.
“Add more content! I want to dig more!” → Thank you for enjoying the game. We’re planning additional content to scratch that “I want to dig more” itch—please stay tuned.
“It’s too easy to clear by digging straight down.” → We’re considering new content that can’t be cleared by straight-down digging, without breaking overall balance. We appreciate your patience while we work on this.
“Please add more control options like key bindings and controller support.” → Thank you for the suggestion. We’ll be adding more settings to improve usability going forward.
