Last time, we mentioned a new mode that was "a little different."

Well... it's ready to come out now.

To be honest, it doesn't really resemble the original idea anymore.

👉 We wanted to make a mode with a bit more teamwork.

👉 We accidentally made a jelly war.

🔴 Red vs 🔵 Blue

In Soap Battle, players are divided into two teams.

• No more color switching

• No more attracting teammates

• No more pretending you're neutral

For the first time, you'll actually have to pick a side.

💥 Soap Is No Longer a Resource

In most modes, you collect soap.

In this mode, you throw it at people.

Every player starts with 5 soaps, which now act as both ammunition and health.

• Run out of soap → you're out

• Recover 1 soap every 5 seconds (up to the limit)

Scoring is simple:

• Deal damage → +10 points per hit

• Eliminate an enemy → +100 points

• Knock someone into the water → +30 points

The lesson here is simple:

👉 If you can shoot, shoot.

⚔️ Destroy the Enemy Leader

Each team has a Leader with 30 HP.

Damage the enemy Leader enough, and your team wins the match.

Of course, the Leader won't just sit there.

It constantly attacks nearby enemies, making every assault on the enemy base a dangerous decision.

🚀 The More You Fight, The Wilder It Gets

As your team's score increases, your base unlocks new abilities.

💣 500 Points — Bombardment Cannon

Take control of a giant cannon and rain soap across the battlefield.

One good shot can clear half the map.

🤖 1000 Points — AI Reinforcements

Your base begins deploying Bubble Squads that continuously march toward the enemy.

At this point, the match starts feeling less like a party game and more like a tiny war.

🚀 1500 Points — Human Cannon

Launch yourself (or your teammates) anywhere on the map.

Perfect for sneaky attacks.

Also perfect for launching yourself directly into the water.

🧪 Still Being Tuned

We're still adjusting this mode and discovering new strategies players keep inventing.

Hey everyone, long time no see.

Time flies faster than a Babol getting launched off the map.

Over the past few months, we’ve been busy polishing gameplay, fixing bugs… and occasionally creating entirely new problems for ourselves.

Most importantly:We made a brand new mode. And honestly, it has slowly turned into a very dangerous team-based soap war.

(We still haven’t decided on the final name yet.)

A Mode Where Soap Is No Longer “Peacefully Collected”

In most previous modes, collecting soap usually meant:

turning it in for points

growing bigger

and bullying smaller Babols with confidence

But this time, things work differently. At the start of the match, every player already spawns with 5 soaps.

And now, soap only has one purpose: Blow up your opponents. Very simple. Very effective.

The rules are easy:

• Hit an enemy with soap → +20 points

• Blast an enemy off the map → +100 points

🔴 Red Team vs 🔵 Blue Team

In this mode, players can no longer freely switch colors. Now you actually have to pick a side.

Each side has its own base to protect. Bases start with 30 HP. Every successful soap hit deals 2 damage. The first team to destroy the enemy base wins.

There’s Also Something “Slightly Unsafe” Behind the Base

To make battles even more chaotic, we added several unlockable features near each team’s base.

As teams earn points during the match, new special systems will gradually become available.

Here are some of the features currently implemented:

·500 Points — Soap Cannon

Players can operate a giant cannon that launches massive soap projectiles into crowded battle zones.

·1000 Points — Assault Squad

Your base will begin deploying AI assault squads that continuously march toward the enemy base.

Players can push forward together with the assault squad, creating a strange but amazing feeling where the game suddenly turns from a party brawler into a full-scale battlefield.

·1500 Points — Flying Launcher

Players gain access to a special flying launcher that can rapidly send them across the map. Perfect for quickly entering fights, sneaking attacks on enemy bases… or accidentally launching yourself straight into the water.

Of course, these systems are still being adjusted and expanded.And we already have more ideas planned for the future, so please stay tuned.

At this point, this is no longer just a normal party brawler.It’s starting to feel more like an escalating jelly war.

JellyBubble DEVBLOG #6 — Customization, BGM Showcase & Demo Soon

This time, we’re not talking about fighting.

Let’s talk about something just as important: Looking good.

In *Jelly Bubble*,

you can lose the match… but you don’t have to look bad doing it.

🎭 Customization

We’ve currently created 3 base skin sets. You can freely mix and match different parts:

* Head

* Eyes

* Mouth

Which means you can create some…very questionable but highly personal combinations.

(They might look smart. They might not behave that way.)

🔄Form Preview (Size Matters)

You can switch between different growth stages at anytime

"Base Form → Evolved Form → Final Form"

And preview how your customization looks at each stage.

Since your Babol grows larger as your Power increases during a match,the same outfit can feel completely different depending on your size.

🛍️ Shop System

The shop is now up and running:

* Unlock cosmetics using coins

* View your owned items

* Preview different combinations

As development continues, we’ll be adding:

* More skins

* More customization slots

We’re currently working on a new feature: Emote Wheel

This will let your Babol do more than just fight or run—

You’ll be able to express yourself in the middle of a match:

* Taunt

* Laugh

* Act innocent

* Or just be… suspiciously cute

🎪 Offline Showcase (Guangzhou BGM)

Recently, we brought Jelly Bubble to the BGM offline game expo in Guangzhou.

Nothing too dramatic happened this time—it was more of a simple, straightforward playtest experience.

But we did get to see something we always enjoy:

Players starting cautiously…then quickly turning it into complete chaos.

The usual progression:

“Let’s try this out”→ “Wait, was that on purpose?”→ “One more round.”

Moments like these remind us that local multiplayer chaos is still one of the most important parts of the game.

And of course, a big thank you to everyone who stopped by and played.We’ve been carefully taking notes (yes, even the complaints).

JellyBubble DEVBLOG #5 — New Modes: Bubble Soccer & Stay Away

Before we get into the details, here’s the headline:Two new modes are joining the chaos.

This time, Babol aren’t just fighting for themselves anymore.You’ll be teaming up… or at least *kind of* working together.

(Your final score is still calculated individually, so… don’t get too friendly.)

⚽ Bubble Soccer

Let’s start with something familiar… or at least, it looks familiar.

In this mode, your goal is simple:get the ball into the goal.

But of course, this is Jelly Bubble — so things get a little strange.

Here are the different types of soccer balls you’ll encounter:

1. Normal Ball

The standard ball.

No special effects — just kick it into the goal.

2. Bomb Ball

Explodes periodically,

stunning all nearby players for 3 seconds.

3. Color Ball

Scores +1 point if it matches the goal color.

Scores -1 point if it doesn’t.

4. Heavy Ball

When kicked, its trajectory will *knock away players with Power below 400*.

5. Super Ball

When fully charged, its shot will knock away every player in its path.

💩 Stay Away

Now for something a little… different.

This mode actually came from a casual conversation and somehow, it made its way into the game.

In Stay Away, a giant boss stands at the center of the map.

It constantly attacks players,and worse—it infects your inventory.

Every so often, it will shove something strange into your item slot

and corrupt all your soap.

Yes… the boss is called:*The Poop King.

The Poop King has two health bars,and players can work together to defeat it by firing soap.

Take it down, and the player who lands the final blow earns *500 points*.

But here’s the thing:That brief moment of cooperation?

It doesn’t last.Once the boss is gone,it’s back to chaos — everyone for themselves.

JellyBubble DEVBLOG #4

Over the past weekend, we ran a new round of playtests… and things got *very* chaotic, in the best way possible.

There’s something special about watching players experience the game for the first time. Some jump straight into aggressive plays, chasing others across the map, while some take a more cautious approach — observing, waiting, and then striking at just the right moment. And of course, there are always those unexpected moments where everything spirals into complete chaos within seconds 😂

Seeing how different players approach the same mechanics has been incredibly valuable for us. It not only confirms what’s fun, but also reveals new strategies and interactions we hadn’t fully anticipated.

We’ve also collected a lot of useful feedback during these sessions — from balance tweaks to readability in the middle of all the action. These insights are already helping us refine the overall experience and make the chaos feel more fair and intentional.

🌍 Localization Update

On the development side, we’ve now completed **localization for the game**.

All core in-game text has been properly translated, making it much easier for players from different regions to jump in and enjoy the experience without friction. This is an important step for us as we continue to open the game to a wider audience.

We’re still actively running playtests and improving the game based on what we learn each time.

Before we get started, a quick heads-up:Our playtest is now open, and you can join anytime.

Soap

In the previous devlog, we talked about the basic function of Soap.

But if you think it’s just something to collect…you might be underestimating it.

In Jelly Bubble, soap can actually be launched as a projectile.

And it doesn’t just fly blindly.

It will automatically lock onto marked targets.

Which means…

The most aggressive player on the field?

Yeah, they’re probably not getting away.

In a way, this is intentional.

The stronger you are, the more likely you are to get focused.

But here’s the problem—

If every soap just “hits once,” that would be pretty boring.

So we decided to give them a bit more… personality.

Right now, you might encounter a few types like these:

Bomb Soap

Simple and brutal.A direct hit will cause your opponent to drop extra soap.

Land it successfully?Their inventory goes down… and so does their confidence.

Swap Soap

Hit an opponent and instantly switch positions with them.

IF you can find the right angle, this becomes extremely powerful.

Shield Soap

This one activates when you’re being attacked by soap.

It creates a temporary shield that blocks all negative effects.

No panic. No damage. Just a clean denial.

These changes make combat a little more… unpredictable (in a good way).It’s no longer just about who has more soap.

Now you have to think:Do I save it and grow stronger…or use it right now and go all in?

Because in the end,every piece of soap is a choice.

PLAYTEST & Developer Challenge.

As more and more features come together, we’re getting ready to open a new round of playtests.

The playtest will stay open for long time

Just go to our Steam page and click “Request Access” under Join the Jelly Bubble Playtest.

We’ll be inviting players continuously — so jump in and sign up!

I’ve been given access, can I invite a friend?

Yes! You can invite up to 3 friends so you can all play together!

How can I give feedback?

We’ll use our Discord server to receive both bugs and improvement suggestions. If you don’t use Discord, you can use the JellyBubble Playtest forum thread on Steam.

Developer Challenge.

During specific time windows, members of our dev team will jump into the game and play matches with everyone.

If you manage to defeat the developers, you’ll have a chance to earn some small rewards.

Simple as that:Come into the game and challenge us.

Since players are joining from different regions, we’ll be showing up during the following time window:

Every Friday–Sunday (Beijing Time)

Today we’d like to introduce one of the core mechanics in JellyBubble: the Attract & Bounce

In Jelly Bubble, players control a soft and cute but surprisingly dangerous jelly monster called--Babol.

These jellies are thrown into strange and colorful playgrounds, where the only goal is simple:

survive the chaos… and send your opponents into the water whenever possible.

But that raises an important question: How do these jellies actually fight each other?

Today we’re going to talk about the most important rule in the game:

Same color attracts. Different colors bounce.

Almost every interaction between players in Jelly Bubble is built around this idea.

If two jellies share the same color, they will pull toward each other.

This allows you to get close to an opponent, steal the soap they’re carrying, or even absorb them to score points.

If their colors are different, the opposite happens.The two jellies will bounce away from each other, like rubber balls colliding.

Sometimes that bounce can knock your opponent straight off the map for a score.

Sometimes… you might be the one flying away instead.

Because of this, switching colors at the right moment often becomes the key decision between attacking and escaping during chaotic fights.

Bubble Power & Soap

Of course, rules alone aren’t enough.In this playground, power matters too.

Across the map, special pickup points will constantly generate items that we call Soap.

When a Babol collects soap, it gains something we call Power Value.

The idea is simple:

More soap = more power.

The most visible change is that your jelly will grow bigger and bigger.

And when you are bigger, things become very straightforward.

You can push smaller jellies into the water more easily,

or even absorb smaller opponents directly.

Both of these actions are the main ways to score points in the game.

(As for the mysterious special effects of different soaps, we’ll talk about those in a future devlog.)

Different Ways to Cause Chaos (Game Modes)

Of course, simply throwing a bunch of jellies into a map and letting them collide isn’t chaotic enough.

So we designed several different modes built around the core mechanics.

1. Power Recycling

In this mode, the soaps that spawn across the map become the center of attention.

Players can run around collecting them…or steal them from other players.

But be careful.

Sometimes you spend a long time collecting a huge pile of soap, and one small mistake can send everything falling straight into the water.

2. Cat & Mouse

In this mode, one player is randomly chosen to become the Mouse.

Everyone else has the same objective:catch the Mouse and earn a big score.

But the Mouse isn’t completely helpless.It gains a constant speed boost, helping it run around the map and escape.

If the Mouse manages to collect five soaps, something dramatic happens.

It gains the ability to grow huge.At that moment, the hunted suddenly becomes the hunter.

A typical match often looks like this:

One moment everyone is chasing the Mouse.

The next moment everyone is running away from it.

3. Bubble Soccer

This is a very straightforward team mode.

A giant soccer ball appears in the center of the map, and two teams try to push it into the opponent’s goal.

Of course, in Jelly Bubble things are never that orderly.

You can:

knock the ball away

knock your opponents away

or knock both the ball and the players away at the same time

Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if the ball goes in…

because the entire field has already turned into a giant jelly brawl.

4. One More Mode (Inspired by Players)

There is actually one more mode we’re working on right now, inspired by ideas from players.

We’ll reveal more about it soon.

Thank you for opening this post and taking an interest in our game. Before we jump into the devlog, though, let us chat for a moment.

Some of you who have followed our team might have noticed something curious: the types of games we develop can be wildly different. Game development itself can be repetitive at times, but the challenges are endless. When we first started this project, we were honestly a little nervous. It felt like stepping into completely unknown territory.

Building a totally different kind of game from scratch is both exciting and intimidating. But that’s exactly what makes the journey so interesting.

Back in November last year, Jelly Bubble made its first offline appearance at WePlay Game Expo in Shanghai. (Back then, it didn’t even have its current name yet.)

We still remember the nervous moment when we handed a controller to a stranger for the very first time. And we definitely remember the laughter after the first four-player brawl ended. That was the moment we realized our idea might actually work.

Then in late December, we brought the game to G8 Game Expo in Taipei. For several days straight we watched players gather around the same screen. What started as cautious testing often quickly turned into complete chaos, followed by loud accusations like “Hey, you pushed me off!”

Seeing people share that kind of couch-screen chaos was even more fun than we had imagined.

More importantly, we received a lot of honest and valuable feedback. Some players told us which mechanics felt incredibly addictive, while others pointed out where things could be clearer or fairer. Those comments helped guide us when we returned to the development desk.

So here we want to sincerely thank everyone who tried the game and everyone who has supported Jelly Bubble so far. Every piece of feedback you give will leave a mark on future versions of the game.

We’ll keep polishing this jelly-filled world to make it even more chaotic, and even more fun.

Back to the real devblog.

Today we’re going to take a look at everything we’ve built so far. And honestly, there’s quite a lot.

Let’s start with the characters.

In most multiplayer games, the playable characters are either humans of various styles or cute animals. But we couldn’t find a party brawler where the main character is a slime.

So we decided to make one ourselves and let this little jelly monster take center stage.

When designing the game, we focused on three main fronts: core gameplay, theme, and game modes.Today we’ll talk about the core, the real source of fun.

At the heart of the system are two key layers:

the mechanics of the jelly creatures themselves, and the rewards players gain from collecting items that come with mysterious abilities. We’ll dive deeper into those systems in future posts.

Gameplay

So here’s the question:If you were a jelly monster thrown into a strange playground, what would you do?

Soon you might notice something interesting. Bigger jelly monsters tend to feel a lot more confident. So naturally, you might start trying to eat smaller opponents… or simply push them into the water and become the playground’s unofficial boss.

And that’s one of the key joys of the game.

You constantly need to watch your opponents’ size and decide:

Do I fight… or do I run?

Movement Mechanics

Next, let’s talk about how movement works in the game.

Dash

Dash is the core movement tool. It allows players to burst forward quickly and gain a short moment of impact power. However, during testing we discovered that experienced players felt it still wasn’t flexible enough.

Double Jump Dash

To solve that, we introduced Double Jump Dash.

It’s simple: press the jump key twice and your jelly launches forward through the air. Compared to a normal dash, it travels farther and faster, opening up opportunities for surprise attacks across different parts of the map.

That’s all for the movement mechanics for now!We’ll reveal more details in future devlogs.

As development continues, we’d love to invite more players to join upcoming playtests and help us shape the game together.

We’ve also made several gameplay changes, we’ve further refined and adjusted the core mechanics to make matches feel smoother and more dynamic.

• Improved Magnet Slot UI; the maximum number of collectible magnets is now capped at 3.

• Optimized magnet models.

• Enhanced lighting and visual effects.

• Reduced the number of magnets lost when stunned by attraction.

• Fixed an issue where character models would occasionally disappear.

• Fixed an issue where player names and tutorials would reset after every restart.

• Fixed the issue where frame rate limit settings were not working.

• Fixed a rare mismatch between character body color and magnetic aura color.

• Fixed an issue where characters could occasionally freeze and become unresponsive.

• Other minor fixes and stability improvements.

Dear Jelly Monsters ,

,The first round of PLAYTEST has now begun, scheduled to last 2-4 weeks, with no upper limit on the number of participants for the time being.

For a smooth and optimal gaming experience, we currently plan to open each test from 18:00 on Friday to 23:59 on Sunday. Please stay tuned for the opening notice.
