We hope you’re all enjoying the changing seasons, we know we are! 🌞

We have just launched a quality of life update as a lot of you have been requesting these improvements!

This includes:

🌊 Placing elements on water now automatically adds the ground pieces underneath them

🏗️ Automatically replace existing tiles by just placing a new element on top of it

💥 Fixed unwanted train collisions (to our best knowledge)

💡 Option to change the gamma values in the settings, incase people find the game to bright

The update brings a much smoother and smarter building experience and we hope you really enjoy these changes ☺️

It’s that time of year again where the tracks are covered with snow, train carriages carry gifts for loved ones and Santa’s reindeer pull the sleigh alongside!

If you enjoyed the Xmas update last year then you’ll be happy to know it’s all returning this year!

Here’s what you’ll find in the update:

💥Updated train collision handling (so they should no longer randomly explode)

Hey everyone,

We are so excited to bring you this new update as we know a lot of you have been wanting multiple trains since we launched! We really hope you love this new addition and all the other features we’ve included as part of this major update🙂

Here's what there is to look forward to:

New assets:

🔀2 New crossing pieces

🌴Various tree types (a palm tree even, oooohh tropical)

New functions:

🚂You can now build up to 10 trains in your world!

💥They will explode if they meet each other, though…

🚦A train signal which lets you control traffic in your world by giving the trains green and red light signals!

🛤️We added a new layer of train controlling complexity by giving you access to 3 new track pieces - this is for the professionals among us

🐛We’ve also worked on a few bug fixes including one that wouldn’t let you delete certain elements and another where specific tiles would build up on top and inside of each other by accident. We hope this update means less pesky bugs but we will be keeping our eyes peeled for your feedback on this so we can keep squashing them!

🪧The game is on a 20% discount for the next week so if you were waiting for a sign to buy Islands & Trains, this is it!

Hey everyone,

We’re writing to you all today to let you know that not only are we in Simfest this week with a 20% discount for the first time (so if you’re still hovering over that ‘Buy the game’ button, now would be the time!) but also to let you know that we have heard you!

We will be launching an update to the game this summer that adds multiple trains in one level (putting the S into TrainS!). This has been highly requested since launch so it’s important to us that we get this out to you all asap ☺️

New Assets!

We have 6 new assets for you to try out in your builds! We know how much you love to keep your creations looking fresh so here’s a present to help you do so ☺️

General Game Improvements!

🌞 We’ve made various QOL improvements on placement/interaction, you all should have an easier time now!

✅ Added a manual save button in the main menu

🔙 We have answered the second biggest feature request… The train can now go backwards !!!!!

We’re popping by today to let you know we’ve bundled up with Train Valley: Origins for this aptly named package ‘I Like Trains’! Train Valley: Origins is a lovely railroad management game, made by indie studio Flazm, which launched earlier today. If you like trains as much as we do, we think you’ll love this bundle!

To thank you for your continued support we have dropped an updated demo today, alongside this brand new trailer: We’ve had a lot of fun working on this, making improvements and additions, but ultimately making sure there’s plenty of creativity to be had! Hey everyone, Since we last posted, we’ve been hard at work on the main game and improving the demo you previously played. We listened to all your feedback, came up with some new ideas of our own, and are now ready to show you what we’ve been cooking up :) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42509697/2c250143b8a71035ba879dd478980b983a3f88c9.gif Available right now, the demo features: 🗺️ A larger 50x50 square map 📖 Improved tutorial 🏪 New Buildings Inc. a Townhall, bakery, swimming pool and an alpine cabin 🎨 Colour customisation for buildings and trains 🚂 Talking of trains, there are new trains to bring your island to life 🐄 New animals. And yes, you can pet them! We’d love to hear what you think, so please do give the new version a go and let us know! But that’s not all. We’ve also been planning out new things we want to add to the game. Dev Update - Mass building & removing implemented

Greetings ! We know, we know. We have been doing a terrible job at keeping you in the loop. We truly want to apologize for that. ---------------------- To make up for it, we want to share with you one of the bigger features we really worked hard on for Islands&Trains in the past months. It, rightfully, has been one of the biggest criticism about the building. *drumroll* You no longer have to click individually to place terrain or anything else. Yes, you read that right ! You can now just make a selection and you will get your piece of terrain instantly. This will surely make the creation of bigger levels (which, let's be honest, all of you want) much much more joyful and healthier 😆 https://clan.akamai.steamstatic.com/images/42509697/4fa0ec631b7e862483a7643488a1ea93c5ca46c6.gif As you can see, you can use the same idea to remove huge chunks of your creation, all at once. If you start your selection on the ocean layer, everything gets removed. If you start on your terrain, only these portions get removed. This can work with whatever asset we see fit. We are so happy to announce that Islands&Trains has been selected to be in the TinyTeams Fest 2023 by the lovely folks of Yogscast Games. The even is running from August 3rd 6 pm BST to August 10th 6 pm BST. Hello everyone ! We are so excited to announce the release of our new demo ! We have worked so hard to implement lots of new content for you to enjoy.

Increased level size and terrain height levels

TUNNELS

Omg yes, we now have a first iteration of tunnels in the game. The UI experience is a bit clunky in places but you can build straight and curved tunnels and watch your train travel through it. What is next ?

Now that we put so much new content in and changed the game significantly in scope we want to focus on improving the usability. We know that it can get quite exhausting to click once for each terrain piece, so we will adress that in the future so you can really go big and still have a smile on your face instead of a look of desperation. We will also overhaul the controls and camera since we have to take into account how big you can build now and sometimes you have areas where you can't look into, depending on how high you have built. FIrst, some good news !

We got accepted into Base Builder Fest 2023 !

From 23rd-30th January, you can dive deep into our cozy sandbox builder and relax by creating some wonderful dioramas. For this special occasion we rolled up our floppy sleves and worked on a snow theme for the game. On top of that you have new assets (including an actual bridge crossing - yay !) and much more space to build upon. Hey, all you lovely people We are really proud that our game is slowly but steadily finding its way into your heart which gives us an extraboost of motivation to develop the best tiny little game we can - with our specific set of skills ;)

New Content

Currently we are working superhard on implementing new tiles, like waterfalls, castles, etc..
