Heroines of Swords & Spells 2: One Week Later!

Can you believe it's already been a week since the launch of Heroines of Swords & Spells 2?

Your feedback is invaluable, so please keep sharing your thoughts and reporting any bugs you encounter. Speaking of which, Patch 2.21 is now live! It addresses the major known issues with importing saves from the first game and squashes some frustrating bugs in both main and side quests.

It’s official. This is it. Finally, decisively, and irrevocably. A journey that took 5 long years has reached its end. 4,500 hours spent in RPG Maker, countless hours spent in MS Word, endless edits, bugs, self-doubt, emotional rollercoasters, missed deadlines, sheer lunacy, grit, pain, and triumph... all for this one day. What happens next is out of my hands. I did it. Walk and ye shall reach.

Thank you to everyone who kept following the endless stream of 'Kirill is Still Working on That Game.' I hope you won't get disappointed!

But I have one huge favor to ask. Steam's algorithms are brutal: a project’s fate is decided in the first few days, if not hours. I know no one likes being badgered by PR, but I'm dropping the usual modesty for this moment. Five years of work is riding on these first few days.

So, now is the time to recommend the game to your friends and acquaintances (who might enjoy it), write a Steam review, and share this post. And, of course, just play the game!

The Heroines of Swords & Spells 2 demo has been updated to version 2.0

The game now supports transferring saves from the first part of Heroes of Swords & Spells.

If you want to transfer old saves, follow the instructions on the link.

A test localization for the following languages has also been added to the demo:

• Chinese (Simplified)

The first part of Heroines of Swords & Spells is getting Chinese localization! But for this very reason, the release of Heroines of Swords & Spells 2 is being moved to November 27, 2025.

I apologize to the players for yet another delay. I really didn't want to test your trust, but some unforeseen issues have come up and they require additional time to resolve.

It was a wonderful surprise that Zephyr Lee was able to fully translate Act 1 of Heroines of Swords & Spells into Chinese in such a short time. I'm currently preparing a patch to add the new language to the game, but this requires a significant refactoring. Some plugins and scripts were originally written to support only two languages, Russian and English. Chinese characters require special text-wrapping rules, and these rules mustn't ‘accidentally’ affect the other languages.

I hope Zephyr Lee doesn't abandon Heroines of Swords & Spells and we see the Goblin DLC and Act 2 translated into Chinese in the future. Therefore, even though only Russian and English will be available at the launch of Heroines of Swords & Spells 2, the game databases need to be synchronized in advance to avoid any future save file issues.

Furthermore (and perhaps I'm getting ahead of myself a bit here), we are also in discussions about localizing Heroines of Swords & Spells into other languages. It's too early for a formal announcement, but it's better to adapt the game's databases and code now to support five or more languages. I didn’t plan for this originally, which is why I need extra time to ensure the project is properly prepared for its release.

Once again, I sincerely apologize to the players. The project is not stuck in development hell. However, our lovely—if a bit hapless—heroines of swords and spells need to be properly prepared for their global expansion.ːHoSS_DianaːːHoSS_AnastasiaːːHoSS_SvetlanaːːHoSS_Feliciaː

Apologies to those who were expecting the game specifically in September. Testing took longer than originally planned. To avoid having to rush out a “Day 1 patch,” followed by a “Day 2 patch,” and so on (turning players into unpaid testers), we decided to move the release date to November 7, 2025.

I hope you’ll stick with us until then!

There’s also good news! We’ve managed to resolve the issue of transferring saves from the first Heroines of Swords & Spells. A patch will be released soon along with detailed instructions on how to carry over your saves. Those who want to try the feature can already test save transfers in the Heroines of Swords & Spells 2 demo.
