Hello everyone!
Gauntlet
The Gauntlet is a fast-paced game mode designed to test your adaptability. You'll choose between a handful of predetermined paths, forcing you to make the most of limited options.
Battle your way through 6 new bosses, each with several possible item loadouts that change from run to run. Every item you've unlocked from previous areas is available from the start, you'll also encounter brand-new events that are exclusive to the Gauntlet.
The Gauntlet is now available as a standalone experience after defeating the Swampland Hydra. It will be fully integrated into the main story with the 1.0 release, currently planned for later this year.
Weapon Mastery
With weapon mastery you can track your progress with different weapons. The three masteries on display are awarded for completing Very Hard difficulty, becoming a champion in Kingmaker and completing the Gauntlet with the weapon.
5 new items (Light-weight Tunic, Tiny Mushroom, Swiftstrike Bolas, Beetle Mask, Spiked Earring)
5 new weapons (Purelake Axe, Dry Blade, Soaked Blade, Unnamed Sword, Starcry Sword)
Doomsayer event can now reroll champions as well
Mapmode can be opened from within chests
Items changes:
Vampire Crest: Woodland Yellow -> Swampland Blue
Spore Greatsword: Swampland Yellow -> Swampland Blue
Stormcloud spear: Swampland Blue -> Swampland Yellow
Mist Armor: Heroic -> Rare
Pinecone Breastplate: Battle Start: If your health is full, gain 1 thorn at Turn Start for the rest of battle -> Battle Start: If your health is full, gain 1 thorn whenever the enemy strikes you the rest of battle

Cherry steak vs Cherry steak created matches that lasted forever so we've reworked it's ability
Combustible Lemon was stronger that we anticipated, it has been nerfed :)
Hello everyone!
This patch introduces some new items and reworks many cauldron items that we thought were lackluster. In doing this we've removed the hardboiled egg and it's combinations, we thought it was a bit convoluted to get and the combinations except for Crème Brûlée were not that good or interesting. We still have some room left in the compendium to add a few items per bundle, if you have some interesting ideas for an item you'd like to see, let us know!
We're still working towards the Darkland beta but we're are not there just yet.
There will be a new PvE mode coming in July, look out for it :)

Hello everyone!
Controls options
It is now possible to play He is Coming with new controls, "Mouse only", "Keyboard only" as well as "Mouse + Keyboard" which has been the default and only option until now. Feedback on these controls is greatly appreciated, let us know what you like and dislike about it and we'll adjust it to be more intuitive if needed.
Tome rework
We've seen feedback that tomes feels weak and bad to use. Our vision for them was to be an effect that triggers later in the game but has potential to swing the match, not an ongoing value engine like the plethora of "Turn Start" items already in the game. So we've increased the countdowns and made the effects more powerful. With this change we also shifted all tomes to rare rarity and made a new rare event where you can choose 1 of the 3 arcane items to enhance your tomes.
Not many balance changes apart from the tomes this time around, for next time we'll take a look at underperforming items and see which ones need a little boost.

Hello everyone!
This patch has been a long time coming, we just could not stop adding stuff to it. The wait until the next patch, which will focus on adding mouse only & keyboard only controls, will not be as long.
Woodland update
We've given woodland a visual update, making all biomes more distinguishable as well as assigning a featured event to the 3 regular biomes where Merchants only spawn in the Rocky Plains, golems only spawn in Flower Fields and cauldrons only spawn in Pine Barrens. All rare events also got their own biomes making them stand out more.
Backpack
Players have been asking for a backpack since forever but we've been hesitant, making tough decisions with your limited inventory space is a core mechanic of the game which we like. We don't want players hoarding every item but we also understand it can feel bad to constantly throw away items.
This patch adds 1 non-combat backpack slot (2 if you upgrade it with the Shepherd event!). This still keeps most of the hard prioritization intact while adding an avenue for future planning. The slot can be used to store a rare item from a merchant you intend to use later, temporarily swap out an item countered by the next boss or simply store components for golem or cauldron.
Weapon Modifications
A new weapon type that is acquired like an itemset. Each modification has two different weapons as their components and are unlocked by equipping the weapons one after the other, in any order. So to get Weapon Mod C you could equip:
Weapon A -> Weapon B = Weapon Mod C
Weapon B -> Weapon A = Weapon Mod C
3 new weapons - Iron Flail, Conductor's Baton, Golem Scepter
2 new items - Oakheart Shield, Caustic Rose
1 new itemset - Agaric Armor
Added 8 weapon modifications (Boom Spear, Brittlebark Blade, Perfect Iceblade, Spear of the hero, Pacifist Trident, Liferoot Dagger, Stonesnake Sword, Bloodlord's Whip, Galestrike Rapier)
4 removed items - Clearspring rose, Blackbriar armor, Featherweight greaves, Granite crown
Events:
New woodland event: Lost Child - Help her to get a mythic item
New swampland event: Golden Pig - Catch him to get a gold boon
New woodland & swampland event: Beekeeper - Sells honey items
New woodland & swampland event: Hammer Smith - Sells more banishes
Reworked woodland & swampland event: Wishing well - Now it grants upgrades to other events for the rest of the run
New event for all areas: Shepherd - Upgrades your backpack
New kingmaker event: Doomsayer - Lets you reroll a non-champion opponent
Misc:
Increased the odds of finding rare events in the crystal ball
Previously 1 woodland miniboss was present during each run, now all 3 are spawned in
Items can be freely moved to any itemslot (including empty ones)
Removed broken bridges
Muscle potion moved to Swampland Red kingmaker bundle
Sangune morphosis + Vampires tooth triggers correctly
Clearspring spirit very hard item changed from sinful mirror to clearspring opal
Woodland Abomination 0 base attack -> 2 base attack
Changed Blackrock Battlefields target event from Weapon Pile to Forge in Kingmaker
Scrying pools gives 2 options instead of 1
Cursor snaps to events in map mode
Map mode control is a toggle instead of hold
Waypoint display biome names
Weapon piles now only gives rare or heroic weapons
Potions and their elixir upgrades are considered the same item. Meaning duplicates of non-common versions cannot drop and both versions works for fullfilling set bonuses
Stuns gotten in between strikes now apply directly instead of buffering until next turn
Added anvils & racoons to junksmith biome in kingmaker
Using an anvil after adding a second edge with junksmith only replaces the previous anvil edge, the junksmith edge stays intact
Swapped the rewards in the bosslist for beating a boss on hard & very hard. Hard now gives the lore and very hard gives amount of wins. Both now require 1 victory against that boss on that difficulty to unlock
Removed brittlebark bow from brittle bark blessing set

Lemontree Branch - Base speed 4 -> Base speed 3
Blackbriar Bow - Base attack 4 -> Base attack 3

Leather Waterskin - Exposed: Gain 2 purity for each equipped water item -> Exposed: Gain 1 purity for each equipped water item
Frying Pan - Exposed: Gain 2 additional strikes -> Exposed: Gain 3 additional strikes

Bugfix for more than 2 people joining the same lobby, friend battle freezing on battle screen, eggs showing up as empty in swampland, Masterchef achievements still not triggering, typing game name on steam deck, old items showing up in friend battle bundle screen
This update brings a different kind of confrontation to Kingmaker, the sort you can’t prepare for by theory alone.
Until now, every fight lived in its own little bottle: builds saved, uploaded, preserved, and faced long after the person behind them had stepped away from the screen. It worked, in the way museum pieces work, but it also left a quiet gap. You never felt the pressure of someone making decisions at the same time you were making yours.
Real-time 1v1 battles step into that gap. Two players, one seed, and a set of choices that begin together but drift apart as soon as the run starts to breathe. You move through five stages, each one its own small test, until one of you reaches three wins.
What you get is simple: Just the steady back-and-forth of two people trying to outthink each other with whatever their run happens to give them.
Now let's get into the details. New Feature: Real-Time 1v1 Battles
This update introduces a major new way to play: real-time 1v1 battles. Until now, all encounters in the PvP mode, Kingmaker, have been asynchronous, where players faced uploaded builds rather than each other directly.
With this update, you can now challenge a friend and try to outsmart each other in real-time. Challenge your friend to a friendly or unfriendly duel to see who comes out on top.
Both players start from the same seed, but the path you take and the choices you make will decide the outcome. Battle your friends in 5 stages, where the first player to win 3 battles takes home the victory.
If you have any feedback on the mode or features you'd like to see added to it, please let us know!

A short, honest review after playing goes a long way, and we make sure to read them all.
Hello!
This patch means the end of the halloween event (bye bye Explosive Pumpkin), thank you to everyone who participated!
Not many other changes this time around. We're working on a big patch that will also be out this November that adds a new gamemode among other things, look out for it!
Changes:
Halloween event removed
Bugfix player getting stuck in graveyard
Bugfix chosing end run -> new run after a kingmaker run not working properly
Bugfix for arcane bell, brittlebark blessing, featherweight armor, prickly pumpkin, blackbriar gauntlet, citrine ring
Changed 0 / 1 crown for accepting / declining champion challenge to 1 / 2 crowns.
Hello everyone! This patch celebrates the spooky season with a new miniboss, enemies, items and a limited time only skin. The halloween event will be live for around 2 weeks!
This patch also contains some other major changes we've wanted to do for a while.
Unique keyword
We've decided to make all rare/heroic items (blue/purple rarity dot) into unique by default, meaning if you already own a copy of an item, you can not find a duplicate of that item. We've overtime had to make more and more rare/heroics into unique for balance, this change makes it easier to keep track of which items you can get duplicates of and which you can't. With all items above common being unique, no exceptions, we've also removed the tag visually. We've taken the chance to buff many of the underperforming rare/heroics that were previously not unqiue and we've reworded the few common items that were unique so that they can be upgraded into gold/diamond by the golem. However we're not doing this solely for balance, we think this will improve build diversity and make players consider to use items they've not used before. Previously, if you had an armor build with 40 base armor and the "Chainmail Armor" item that regains all your base armor as your best item, the next best in slot item you'd look for is of course another "Chainmail Armor", no other item can compete with that. This meant that the next best item for most builds would always be another copy of their current best item.
Of course it's fun to win, and the point of the game is to find synergies that make you feel powerful and stomp the competition, we don't want to get away from that or water down the experience, but we think the play pattern of looking for what other items can fit your build instead of rerolling merchants and hoping for good RNG for a duplicate will be more enjoyable in the long run. "Trigger twice"
Items that said "Bomb items trigger trice" or "Ring items trigger twice" etc was not able to multiply together how players expected them to. We've changed that so that all such items say "Your bomb items trigger 1 additional time" etc to make them more easily understandable and now they all add their additional triggers independently, making them stack together.
Hall of Fame
When a champion collects 10 wins they will be retired and enter the "Hall of Fame".
Getting a champion into the hall of fame will grant you an additional reward, they will be saved under their own tab in your list of champions and they will also be show to other players in a global hall of fame list. The reason we're doing this, other than giving kingmaker players a goal to aim towards, is for balance purposes.
There was previously no cap to how many wins a build could get which meant that some builds got the perfect setup and got 50+ or even 100+ wins, greatly accelerating the speed of which meta on new patches got stale. The 100 people that lost against a supercharged version of build X would feel that the meta was full of build X even though it was in some cases just a few instances of that build that got a huge amounts of wins and overstayed their welcome in the pool. This change will self-regulate to take overperformers out of the pool and speed up the rotation of builds going in and out, which we hope increases diversity of opponents you'll face.
Without the cap players were also more incentivized to go for the same highroll build again and again, since uploading even one of those champions would yield many more crowns than trying to be flexible and get up more but weaker champions. That is fine if that's how some players find their fun, but it's not a playstyle we want to reward mechanically.
