Beta phase

This update marks the transition of Hardware Engineers entering into the Beta phase. The most important thing to remember with this announcement is that there are still more improvements, optimizations, and contents to come. Next week the procedure to shift Hardware Engineers in Beta phase will start. With the Beta the update process will change. In the EarlyAccess phase I aim was to propose new functionality as quickly as possible and to polish, balance, adapt and debug these new features according to your feedback. Now that the core gameplay is fix, the goal will be to maintain a level of quality while adding new features. In summary larger and better but less frequent patches. Thank you all for all the support in this 2 and half years of Early Access!

Content

48 new computers is now unlockable.

Editors

Components Editors has been updated for the new ram format introduce in the previous patch.

Mission

Customers will now be able to choose DVDs has a secondary purchase.

Interface

It's now possible to open a mail by double clicking on it in the mailbox. Coins and points animations has been improved. As always many bugs was fixed. Memory Rework

You can now split and merge memory kits! Buying a 2x16GB and merge it with another 2x16GB to obtain a 4x16GB is now possible! https://i.imgur.com/QLlPy2P.gif

Dual Channel

You can also buy a 4x16GB and split it in 4 kit of 16GB. But be careful dual channel is taken into account! Dual Channel is a technology that allow RAM module to perform in pair. That's means a RAM module alone will perform slower than expected. https://i.imgur.com/Bql6Lam.gif

Memory Synchronization

Like in reality, when mixing different memory module they all will run at the speed of the slower module. https://i.imgur.com/i91VLnm.gif

Interface

Merge two RAM kit is possible in inventory by drag and drop one kit on another one of the same generation. DDR3 and DDR4 can't be in the same kits. You can also merge two sets of RAM directly in the assembly. https://i.imgur.com/VjOTorQ.gif To Split a Ram kits use the new icon in inventory

Mission

Customer's algorithm will take into account the possibility of doubling memory if they have only two RAM modules on a computer or to make a new kits by buying two set of 2 RAM modules. Interface

The menu to change wallpapers in the setting of computer has been updated, you will now be able to see a little preview instead of a blanck icon. You can now have multiple winDOOR. installation on the same computer with different wallpapers. Moving a hard drive with a winDOOR installation. from one computer to another will no longer reset the wallpapers. Engine

Steamworks API has been updated. Language files and Asian fonts has been updated. The credits of the game now include a special thanks to all translators. As always many bugs was fixed. Missions

The end of the missions has been reworked. If you exceed the allowed time, the mission will remain terminable. A cash penalty will be deducted from your winnings, but you will no longer be forced to cancel the job. The more you will be late, the greater will be the penalty. Relocation

Dust system and "Cleaned" bonus has been improved to trigger a bit more often.

Relocation

A new tab is available in the management window You can now relocate your business from this new tab. Translation

All translation has been cleaned (again). If you find something wrong do not hesitate to report it! Working with this much language that I do not master is a very complicated task. That's why your help is essential to ensure a quality translation.

Icons

Some icons have been reworked especially the colors to allow better visibility.

Registry

WinDOOR Update

You can now update winDOOR by going into the setting of computer. With an up to date winDOOR you will now get a 5% bonus in reputation. Updating WinDOOR is not necessary in any mission. https://i.imgur.com/oIIjef3.gif

Certain windows of winDOOR has been reworked to improve readability.

Bookmarks

Shaders

Shaders performance has been improved. A bug that prevent the game to start on computer with a graphic card compatible with only DirectX 10.0 has been fixed.

Language

Language file has been cleaned, all unused and out dated strings has been removed.

Preview Map

The inventory limit of the second map has been increased to 40 (25 for 1st map). That's means you can have 40 items in your inventory at level 0 without any skill points. Before the patch note I would like to announce the upcoming exit of the Early Access phase! The beta phase is coming soon. Let me know what you think and what was missing from the game right now. Which menu, interface or window needs a redesign? What are the weaknesses and strength of the game in your opinion? I would do my best to improve everything. Don't worry, the end of the early access phase does not mean that the updates will stop. It simply means that the core gameplay is now fix. New functionality and bugfix will continue to come.

New Map !

A new map will soon be ready for Hardware Engineers. You can already test it by activating the new option when creating a new game. https://i.imgur.com/n9tT6ac.gif This map is a lot bigger that the previous one. 12 desk workspaces instead of 8 to work on 12 computer in the same time. 20 storage for computers under the desk, twice as much as the other map. 11 showcases instead of 6. If you decide to give it a try, let me know what you think about it, the impact on the gameplay, the possible improvements, or the difficulties encountered!

Engine

Previously Hardware Engineers used an OpenGL based engine made by myself, i finally finish to convert it to DirectX. You will now have a more stable and powerful engine compatibilities has been improved a lot too. Big change involve potential bugs. That's why this update will only be available on the devbranch for a few days. GPU overclocking is finally ready. Bleuscreens and Graphics Artifacts has been improved too. You will get different artifact and bluescreen if you have a broken GPU, unstable GPU or unstable GPU's memory

Improvements

An ambient sound loop has been added. A 10 minutes city sound will now play in background when time is running. New sound effect has been added when installing a furniture or decorations. Scenario

A new whole chapter is now available with guidance for showcases usage, software installation and Anti virus scan! You can access it by clicking on Newgame>Tutorial and select the 2nd scenario. Some adjustment has been made to the 1st scenario. https://i.imgur.com/0qS4N0M.png

Improvements

More sound effect has been added. Customers will now estimate value of items more accurately, sale with showcases should be easier now. Unused library has been removed from the game, and certain part of the code has been cleaned to improve stabilities and performance. As always many bugs was fixed. The title screen has been improved to let you access the new scenario. You can now choose between two modes. Free play: with generated mission and customizable rules Tutorial: Scripted scenario with more help and step by step guidance for beginners. I can finally present to you the beginnings of a true tutorial. Several guided missions that will be used to learn and discover the different mechanics of Hardware Engineers. There will be a total of 8 scenarios, starting from the base to finish with the most complex tasks, like data recovery, or overclocking and stabilities.
