Gunstoppable is fully supported on Steam Deck.

The game has not yet been reviewed for "Steam Deck Verified" status, despite my request from Valve. But several playtesters and I have tested out every aspect of their requirements, and it works seamlessly! Many even insist on Steam Deck as their preferred method of playing Gunstoppable. Enjoy!

What's new in Patch 26

• Reworked Controller Aim - Huge improvements to controller aim, including aim assistance and improved sensitivity curves and damping.

• Performance Improvements - Major optimizations allow the game to run smoothly even on old potato computers! (Try low graphics mode for those)

• Full Localization - Play the game in 8 different languages! English, Simplified Chinese, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, French, German, and Korean

• Improved Enemies - Improved animations and fixed them all attacking at the same time.

• Improved Speedometer - Speed now multiplies damage AND attack/reload speed. Adjusted the rate of speedometer depletion so it's easier to maintain speed.

• Dozens of bugfixes and improvements.

• Made it easier to store and maintain speed, even after hitting walls or changing directions

• Added support for rebinding mouse buttons (including side buttons, scroll wheel, left/right)

• Improved speed calculations of grapple, slide, rail grind, and wall run

• Added 2 second cooldown to enemy leaper leap attack

• Slowed down Johnny Jetpack projectile attacks in first 2 phases

• Reduced assault rifle fire rate 8 -> 7

• Reverted to old fiery vertical speedometer (and made it bigger)

• Fixed a couple sounds not respecting sound volume

• Fixed challenges from challenge orbs displaying incorrect progress

• Fixed grappling to walls in city survival arena

• Brand New Level - Start Fenix's journey in a new underwater prison. The demo skips past the rest of the underwater facility, but rest assured, tons of new content is coming to the full game.

• Leaderboard Reset - Compete to be the most unstoppable player in the world.

• Improved Movement Feel - Added juicier animations when jumping and landing.

• Better Ragdoll Physics - Enemies are properly launched on death, grapple to their robo-corpses.

• Improved UX - Faster load times, new speedometer, smoother speed lines, better post-run screen, more descriptive upgrades, and cleaner HUD.

• Dialogue Volume - Added setting to adjust dialogue volume separately from other sounds.

This month I attended the Game Developers Conference where I presented Gunstoppable and gave a lecture about movement in indie games. I received lots of feedback on the game, most of which I addressed in this update. Enjoy!

• Enhanced Movement - Enjoy a new wall climb ability, stickier wall run, lower grapple cooldown, higher grapple range, higher momentum gains, and more!

• Faster Projectiles - The player and enemies all have faster projectiles, which speeds up the pace

• Better Performance - Fixes to make the game run smoother, especially on older computers

• Gun Animations - Tweaks to reload animations and gun placement on screen (I will continue improving weapon animations in future updates)

• Other bugfixes and improvements

• Snappier Movement - Doubled gravity to fix "floatiness", tuned all movement abilities to feel more responsive and maintain speed, improved camera effects

• Better Upgrade System - Attachments now affect all adjacent weapons, no longer grant elemental bonuses, and have a different look. More upgrade system improvements coming soon!

• Improved Visual Clarity - Removed elite enemy rings, auto-hide more UI elements, made bolts more subtle, made damage numbers off by default (added as a setting), and reduced shininess of levels

• Better Performance - many improvements to make the game run smoother and use less RAM

Enjoy the new update, which features TONS of gameplay and visual improvements that were much needed and/or highly requested. Enjoy!

• Johnny Jetpack 2.0 - new movement, phases, abilities, attacks, everything is different! From spraying mortars to double rocket slam to ramping minigun, try it out and see for yourself!

• Original Soundtrack - introducing 4 original music tracks created by Entropykk, replacing the placeholder music for some serious sci-fi vibes! Turn up that music volume.

• Graphics Overhaul - removed pixelation effect that was causing graphics to appear grainy and visually cluttered (by popular demand)

• UI Overhaul - reworked HUD to clean it up significantly, centering the most important elements and removing or fading out unnecessary elements entirely

• Movement Improvements - increased horizontal grapple range by 50%, increased momentum gains at high speeds, adjusted ground friction, and improved collision

• Combat Improvements - enabled automatic fire for all weapons, so you don't have to spam click! reworked slow time system (again) to automatically trigger when the bar gets full

• New Player Experience - redid the starting area of the game to make it more linear and less cluttered. Added an upgrade at the start so you can dual wield right away. Improved the vehicle sequence with a surprise attack from Johnny Jetpack! Reset progress from the main menu settings to experience the new intro.

• Kane the Rat - Kane now provides all upgrades, not just the black market, say hi!

• Mission Info - fixed incorrect mission progress and added more useful information to missions

• Dozens of other bugfixes and improvements

This week's update is a major one! Try out dual melee builds, the speed multiplies damage mechanic completely reworked, along with huge improvements to the core movement system.

This patch includes:

• New Knife Weapon - stab quick and parry projectiles, now allowing for dual melee builds with the knife + katana!

• Speed Multiplies Damage - instead of directly multiplying damage, which is hard to notice, speed now multiplies attack speed and reload speed! Now you can really feel when you pick up speed because the game feels drastically different.

• Reworked Movement System - higher speed and air control, tuned gravity and jump height, added more responsive impacts with audio and screen shake.

• Improved Parry - now you can parry Johnny Jetpack's rocket slam attack, spider bots and leapers while they air leaping at you, and even your own projectiles!

• Balanced Combat - enemies now fire twice as many projectiles! (Don't worry, they deal less damage and have less health to compensate)

• Added infinite weapon spinning if you hold down the reload button (it's just fun, don't ask)

• Changed Overdrive Mode trigger to on grapple instead of shooting while sliding. This makes you more in control of when it triggers.

• Improved graphics for Space Tower, bullet trails, and slash and parry effects.

• Made damage numbers on the same enemy stack for less visual clutter.

• Fixed holes where you can fall out of the map. (2 in City Survival, 2 in Space Tower)

• Dozens of other bugfixes and improvements to gameplay, graphics, audio, and animations.

Play the third patch of Gunstoppable which fixes a crash, adds elite enemy variants, and improves combat:

• Fixed crash, increasingly common at higher stages

• Increased frequency of elite enemy variants that have special gameplay effects

• Tuned enemy health, projectile homing, and elemental visual effects

• Minor bugfixes

We are aware of people having difficulty with the hex-based upgrade system and are working on improvements to that player experience for our next patch, along with gameplay and visual clarity!
