Changes

• Chopped bait is now saved on Jermey Wade difficulty aswell

• Bait in the bait storage box will now be saved and loaded when loading a saved game

• Decreased day length by 15% to account for lower default quota and quota growth cap

• Added a dynamic tip system that helps players understand how items work

• Fixed a bug where placing fish on the stove then turning it on would cause the fish to just sit there and not cook

• Added an input prompt for placing the torch and smoker items

• Changed out the Good and perfect strike audios for something a bit happier.

• Changed how fish collide in the altar to prevent weird physics. It is not much easier to place large fish in the altar without them flying away

• The cat will now teleport to you if it gets stuck when returning to you

• Fixed a bug that caused the push prompt to get stuck on your screen

• Fixed an issue with the crocodile where it would aggro and attack you but not grab you

• Fixed a bug where you could duplicate bait using the fox

Fishing UI Refactor

• Redesigned The fishing strike system now the target tick is a little fishy and he swims around.

• You just need to match up red tick with the fishy and bang ur on. (Basically same mechanics with a moving target and a face lift).

Force Next Day

• Added a “Force next day” button. If the time is later than 22:30 (10:30 pm) a button will become available in the esc menu that allows you to force the next day to happen if the game is stuck on the current day.

• If you have not sacrificed enough in the altar a player will still be killed by the monster.

• This button is only available to the host

• Fixed bug where the Croc and the Snake would set the Struggle Difficulty back to easy when they attack .

• Fixed a bug where casting your line while looking up would cause your camera to snap 90 degrees to the left or right and lock it in that direction

• Fixed a bug where you could not walk through the small cave on the right side of the lake on the Lake map

• Fixed a bug that could prevent the next day from startingg when all players are sleeping

• Fixed a bug where sandstorms and thunderstorms would occur when they were not supposed to and on maps there were not supposed to

New Fishing UI

• The new ui is now much more intuitive and gives more information to the player on when to reel vs when to let go

• Also just a cleaner aesthetic

New Struggle / Escape Mechanic

• A lot of players were experiencing an issue where even if they spammed as fast as they could the game wouldn't register their inputs. This was sad and tbh the spam mechanic kinda lame anyway, so we swapping to something more skill based. 

• The new system is a time based system where a ticker spins in a circle and you have to lmb when its in the green zone. Depending on how many times you have been captured the difficulty of the struggle minigame will scale.

• Entities that grab you (crocs, toad, etc) will now give you a consistent 6 seconds to escape via this new minigame.

• Bats will just be jump scare types for the time being, until we find something that feels right for them.

The Anaconda enemy Returns

• The anaconda enemy will now function properly and kill you

• The anaconda uses the new struggle system, meaning getting caught isn’t always the end

• 8 random spawn locations have been added to both the jungle and swamp maps

Geforce Now / Cloud Saving

• Save files are now synced to the Steam Cloud

• This allows us to support game streaming like GForceNow for example

• If you lose your current save files or go to play on a different computer/machine, you will still have access to your saves

Updates / Changes

• When you kick a player from your server, they are now banned from rejoining

• Changed the default key for placing fish on the stove, grill, and butcher table to “F” due to the clunkiness of placing/picking up fish.

• Manatees have escaped the frozen Arctic and now can be caught in almost any biome. (not lake or canyon)

• QOL Fix: You can now reel the fishing rod in even if you casted on land. (You don't need to swap off the rod anymore if you casted on land)

• Reduced the volume of the traders fog horn (sound played when the trader arrives)

• Added an input prompt for placing the smoker item

• Remade the frying pan collision to make interacting with and placing fish easier and prevent them from falling off as easily

• The frying pan now has functionality similar to the grill and will eject fish from the pan once they are cooked

• Small CPU savings on all maps.

• Fixed an issue with collision in the back of the cave on swamp map that could cause your bobber to behave weirdly 

• Fixed a bug where you couldn't pick up a fish after placing it on the stove/butcher table/etc…

• Reduced audio levels of the torch and impaler creature

• Fixed a bug that caused the push player achievement to break

• Fixed a bug where the time to cook fish stated by the floating text vs the actual time to cook the fish were not equal

• Fixed a bug where the “Push” icon could sometimes get stuck on your screen

• Fixed a bug where the lungs icon indicating remaining oxygen when under water would drain to fast for clients and did not match actual remaining oxygen

• Fixed a bug where the bull could sometimes spawn in the sky near the cabin on the lake map

• Fixed a bug where the input prompt for placing the tunnel would overlap with the drop item icon which blocked the player from seeing what key to press

• Fixed a bug where torches would duplicate on loading a save file

• Fixed a bug where the squirrel bait would not be added to your inventory when picked up

• Fixed a bug where you could catch an ocean fish then use the unstuck button to catch ocean fish in the brackish water

• Fixed and adjusted various things on each map thanks to feedback from Karthys

• Fixed a bug where the stove would not play the fish cooked sound effect

• Fixed a bug with the collision of the bridges on the jungle map which caused the cat to get stuck

Made so you can kill the lil green guy who jumps on your face (Miken tried to blow it up which made me realize i forgot you cant kill the lil bastard)

Fixed an issue that prevented players from switching perspectives when spectating

Fixed an issue that caused the camera to get stuck in a random location when spectating a player who dies

Fixed an issue with the achievements for killing a player with tnt and for pushing a player for atleast 10 seconds

Added New Creature… Tiny Crab 

• This lil fella is so chill he just wants to hang out and make friends

• Tragically, Tiny crab suffers from crippling social anxiety so he prefers to sneak up behind you before finally saying hello

New Instrument Widget

• Added a new widget that displays any active instrument buffs that are currently applied to you.

• To answer any confusion regarding the instruments… Instruments do not buff your bait score, rather they simply increase the chance of catching a legendary fish IF you first meet the conditions to catch a legendary fish. 

• In other words, you must first meet the conditions to catch a legendary fish. Once these conditions are met, your odds of catching a legendary fish increase based on the number of active instruments playing

You can now hold E (Interact button) to push players even further

• Added an input prompt for pushing players. The prompt will fill up as you hold down E.

• The progress bar fills to full after 7.5 seconds, however, max pushing power is achieved after holding for 20 seconds (you will send your friend flying so no trolling, of course) (especially if they're fishing on the dock, you could seriously harm them, they could even drown)

Jeremy Wade Changes

• Reduced the base quota for JW by 20% on Arctic Jungle and Canyon

• Reduced the base quota for JW by 10% on the Lake and Swamp

• Reduced quota growth rate by 20% for all maps

Reworked the Cat and Arctic fox

• Rather then the cat and fox dropping the bait on the floor, the bait will now go straight into your inventory

New Achievements

Cooking Changes

• Returned fish cooking speed to be half of the original values.

• You may have noticed that all fish were cooking in 7 seconds with the previous patch.

• This change was temporarily made to help make up for some of the issues with the new grill tech that was implemented

• Updated Czech localization

• Fixed a bug with the auto-bait feature that would sometimes cause no bait to be equipped after reeling in a fish even if you had bait in your inventory. Also fixed an issuue where there could be a delay on the bait being automaitcally equipped

• Fixed an issue that would cause the game to freeze for 10-15 seconds or longer when loading into a level

• Fixed an issue with the butcher table that would cause chopped bait to go flying sometimes

• Fixed several cpu bottleneck issues (primarily experienced on the lake map and the swamp map)

• Fixed several issues with bait spawning and clean up that led to cpu  and ram usage issues

• Fixed several physics issues with fish ejecting off the grill. Fish will now land in the same location every time. In the event a fish were to have a physics issue and fly off, it will be teleported back to a location in front of the grill

• Fixed a bug where the bone would not spawn in on loading a saved game

• Fixed an issue where the Stalker creature would enter rage mode when it was simply near tnt. Now it must also be able to see the tnt before it can enter rage mode

• Fixed a bug where the cooked fish text could spawn at 0, 0, 0

Forgot to mention last patch that hats should not appear on your screen anymore. (They should be hidden when in first person but still stay visible to everyone else)

AUTO BAIT

• Upon catching or loosing a fish, bait will be automatically equipped onto your hook

• If you have more of the same bait, it will be automatically equipped. However if you do not have more of the same bait the game will grab the first bait in your tacklebox and equip it.

• You can still press tab and manually changed your bait at any time

GRILL IMPROVEMENTS

• Our most loyal fan and player John Wolfe who loves gone fishing more than anyone else he plays with mentioned adding a UI when interacting with the grill. As I am not a fan of in game UI this idea has been banished. However I have come up with a new solution to help with dealing with lots of fish on the grill

• The solution? Once a fish is fully cooked, it will be ejected off of the grill and land just in front of it.

• No longer will you have to deal with a giant fish cluster of cooked and uncooked fish on the grill

New Audio Slider

• Added a new audio slider for “furniture”. 

• This adjusts the volume for things like the grill, butcher table, stove, torches, etc…

Trader Change

• The balloon trader will now stay for an extra 60 seconds before leaving

Bug Fixes

• Fixed a bug where upon returning to lobby and starting a new game, your player could respawn in the water if you had previously dies from drowning

• Fixed a bug where you could fail quota even if the fire was blue. This was caused by a rounding error

• Fixed a bug where the birds from the bird circle would be culled to quickly for clients

• Fixed an issue where master volume would not actually affect all sound effects

• Fixed an issue where the escape mini game ui would remain active even after escaping or dying

• Fixed an issue where walking on the stone path on the lake map would play grass footsteps sound effects.

• Fixed an issue where the Gigatoad and father shark were not droppable after being picked up in tacklebox.

New Batch of Cosmetics Pushing

Added the ability to push players. Simply press your interact button (‘E’) by default while looking at your homie. There is a 2 second cooldown to pushing.

Optimizations

Additional CPU + RAM Optimizations (especially when there are lots of actors (like fish and pearls) on the map)

Polish

Small changes to how the characters hold items. ( the position of their hands and stuff when looking around).

• Fixed an issue where when you look down really fast you can see your own nose, eyebrows, and stuff.  This was especially apparent on the new characters

• Fixed an issue where fish could fall out of the altar randomly 

• Fixed a big where the greater amberjack quest picture would show a lane snapper instead of a greater amberjack.

• Fixed an issue that would cause the hosts camera to be rotated 90 degrees on respawning

• Fixed an issue that caused frogs and lizards to spawn infinitely which led to fps drops

• Fixed a bug where the cabin spider hallucination event would sometimes never end

• Fixed an issue with the rabbit bait that could cause it to be heard from great distances

GPU OPTIMIZATIONS

• after many hours in the deep dark trenches of Unreal Engine, I am proud to present an estimated 15-20% reduction in GPU utilization.

• I focused on optimizations the game for 1080p, 120 fps limit on the medium graphics preset although you will find gpu savings regardless of the settings you are playing on

• Fixed various descriptions in the options menu

• Fixed multiple collision bugs on the Lake map

• Fixed a bug where pplayers would not have their tacklebox saved

• Other bug fixes that i never wrote down.....

Still working on cooking up a proper ending to GONE Fishing. This is going to be some content like yall have never seen before..... Other stuff coming soon aswell now that I am freed of optimization stuff for the time being

Made so the Father Shark (Enderman-like creature) can not be triggered by looking at it through water. 

• So dont worry about it whens its underwater anymore

The FatherSharker creature only spawns on the swamp map now.

Increased Cooldown between tongue grabs (1 ->3 ), so players have more time to get away from toad after being tongue grabbed.

Decreased Tongue radius of Gigatoad from 2000 to 1800.

Increased tongue pull time from 3 seconds to 4 seconds. 

Reduced the time it takes to cook fish on the stove by roughly 33%

Reduced the sound attenuation of the torch to help prevent sound overlap which was causing issues

Reduced the difficulty of escaping from the frog

Reduced the number of daily giga toad spawns from 4 to 2

FIxed an issue where some boulders would have no collision

Fixed an issue where clients couldn’t hear the father shark sfx.

Fixed an issue where the heart beat sound that alerted you to fathershark would not play for clients.

Fixed a bug where if you REALLY close to the father shark he wont get mad at you even if you stare at him. Now if you are REALLY close to the father shark he will kill you, even if you look away. (he doesnt like being touched :( (hes shy remember))

Fixed animation bug on the Gigatoad, where he would keep his mouth open when his tongue wasn't out. 

Fixed an audio bug where the gigatoad’s tongue noise sfx would play even after his tongue was no longer out. 

Fixed an issue where some trees would not have collision on the swamp map

Fixed an issue where there would be floating items and bait in the respawn cave on the swamp map

Fixed an issue where when clients buy some items from shop the hosts fishing line gets reset.

Fixed an issue where on loading into a map, then exiting back to main menu, opening and closing the cosmetic ui would cause the main menu to break

Fixed a bug that would cause multiple stalkers to spawn at a time

Fixed several issues with pathing for the naked man on the arctic map

Reworked the swamp map to make it a more enjoyable and spooky experience

Fishing in caves now gives you a 10% bonus to bait score

• 3 new biomes

  • Massive cave

  • Willow

  • Mangrove

• Added 3 new baits from other maps and 1 new bait

  • Beever

  • Shoebill

  • Capybara

  • Raccoon (new)

Added two new creatures to the new swamp map

• The Father Shark

  • Functions similar to your favorite enderman from minecraft. This new shark fella does not like to be looked at as he is very insecure (help my boy out)

• The GigaToad

  • This new giga frog is very territorial. If you get snatched, it is in your best interest to mash space bar or accept your death

  • The giga frog has shown to be passified if fed fish. Hmmmm

Custom Radio Music

• You can now add your own mp3 files and they will be played on the radio in the cabin

• On the main menu of the game, there is a button on the bottom right with a music note. Clicking this button will create a "CustomMusic" file directory for you. All you need tro do is copy and paste mp3 files into this folder

New Smol Fishington

• Small fish caught on lake and swamp maps. Line lvl 0-1 is recommended.

New Item... The Torch

• Provides light in an area when placed

• The torch will turn blue if/when you meet quota each day similar to the fire in the altar

New Character Customization in the Main Menu

• Available at the top right of the main menu, you can now customize your player to your liking

• There is no need for manual saving, as it will save your cosmetics as you update your look.

• You can use your scroll wheel or hold down left click and drag to rotate your character

Lots of CPU Optimizations.

Quota Changes

• Quota growth will now max out at day 40 and will increase by a flat amount for all days after 40

Brackish Water type

The Jungle now hosts the new water type... Brackish water...

New species of fish and even a new legendary fish have been spotted swimming in these waters. This change now separates the jungle and the swamp waters, allowing each map to hosts distinct fish species

• Legend has it, the new legendary fish allows you to glide or something like that

• Added a prompt to let players know if the trader is occupied and that they cannot access the show until the trader is free

• Added text to the shop to let the player know that rod upgrades are shared

• Wels Catfish will now bite Glizzy.

Cosmetics and perks are now saved

• Once you’ve selected your cosmetics, they will be saved to a file and will automatically apply when creating and or joining a lobby (including lobbies in session)

• Perks are now also saved once chosen. Just like cosmetics, when you host a lobby or join an existing lobby, your perks will automatically apply. On opening the perk selection screen, it will clear your saved perks so that you may choose new perks to save.

• Both perks and cosmetics automatically save so there is no need to manually save them

• Fixed several issues that would cause your character to look demented

• Fixed a bug where gambling the wels catfish would cause insane lag

• Fixed a bug where gambles for the hosts would not upload to your profile. Client gamble uploads are still broken tho fix coming soon

• Fixed a bug where the wels catfish could not be caught with the glizzy

• Fixed a bug where you could enter a bed by just tapping interact rather than holding interact

Changes

• Updated terrain on each map to increase the number of fishing hotspots that exceed 2500 depth for catching legendary fish

• The crab will now drop you after 5.5 seconds

Added two new options in the Gameplay options menu. 

• The first option will let you know if your fish failed or succeeded in uploading to your profile and the leaderboard. 

• The second option will display an xp bar when you catch a fish

Adjusted gambling formula

Original formula:

1x to 6.5x win

1x to 0.01x loss

New formula:

1.25x to 4.5x win

1x to 0.01x loss

...New max win...

If your fish exceeds a 4.25x multiplier, it will be rerolled again into the max win formula which ranges from a 5x to 10x win.

• Reworked the logic for purchasing and picking up items. This rework should help sold edgecases that caused players to not receive items on purchasing/picking them up

Polish/Changes

• You can now simply press “E” to sell fish to the trader

• You can now simply press “E” to place a fish on the small stove

• The small stove now cooks fish simultaneously like the grill

• Reworked the collision of the stove to make it easier to place larger fish on it, players will still need to purchase the grill to cook massive fish

• Reworked the flame on the tnt so that it looks like an actual flame burning down the fuse. The flame is now synced with the explosion of the tnt

• Updated localization for Russian, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, Japanese, Korean, Czech, and French

Save Game Revamp

• Now upon selecting a save game you would like to play, you will have the option of setting the lobby to be public or private along with creating a lobby name. The player count of the lobby will be the original player count when you created the save

Reworked perk logic to help ensure they always work

Did an optimization pass on the Canyon map to help improve performance

Added more deep spots on the swamp map

Converted the butcher table and grill to use your interact key to place a fish on it

• Fixed an issue where cockroaches would spawn infinitely on the tutorial map

Optimizations

Dove deep into optimizations... The game now uses around 30-40% less VRAM, around 15-20% less ram, and a significant amount less of GPU.

Refactored some of the replication settings to help patch issues that would cause some creatures to be invisible for some clients.

Reduced the total game size by around 2 gigabytes.
