Hey Gladiators!
Thanks a lot for all the questions you've submitted! We might do another one in the nearest future.
We will be answering most upvoted questions from both Discord, Facebook and Steam in this channel! Let's go!
Q: New game mode? I didn’t know what it is! Can you explain it clearly, devs?
A: Game Mode is a Squad Mode where players can hire, train, and equip squad mates to participate in side quest journeys. Something similar was previously introduced in our second project, but Gladiators will be more related to in-game economics and progression, providing benefits for both the main character and squad mates.
Q: Will the issue of balancing all the characteristics of the equipment be considered? Because there are only a couple of desirable ones; the rest are subpar. Perhaps there will be some new ones or bonuses from sets. Can you provide more details?
A: It's common for players to optimize their gear for situations where certain stats work best. Some consider Attack Power the best offensive option, others collect Health Regeneration Bonuses, and some players find Gathering Speed useful for mining missions. There are no plans to change this. Legendary bonuses and set bonuses, on the other hand, will provide specific major bonuses for 2/4 pieces of the same gear, adding special improvements like a 5% movement speed bonus above the random bonuses that can appear on the gear.
Q: Socketable items? Haven’t seen them yet! Any clarity on release date?
A: These items provide special slots to insert gems to customize your combat efficiency further. Some gems will provide additional bonuses to Damage, Armor, Health, Attack Speed, etc. The better the socket gem you use, the higher the bonuses you get. There is no ETA for the release of this feature as it’s still in development.
Q: Will we have new events with T4 items?
A: Yes, but the difficulty of the events will be adjusted to match the power of the items you will be able to get during the event. There is a probability that old events like Wotan or Saturnalia will get an update with new rewards for players who have reached the endgame, but there is no ETA for that yet.
Q: Are you planning a temporary event for this summer?
A: Unfortunately, no certain plans for that.
Q: Let’s talk about the future of the game. We see that T5 is on a distant design roadmap. Do you have a tier limit for our weapons? For example, will you stop at T5 or T6, or will you continue to innovate to always have stronger armor/weapons?
A: We will likely stop at Tier 6. Starting with Tier 4, we are going to introduce Legendary Equipment that will provide different bonuses and a unique way of progressing through equipment power (for example, Legendary items will have more than 10 levels of upgrade). In addition to the gear, new challenges will also be introduced where players can put their newly obtained items to good use.
Q: When will we see guild territory and more guild activities? What multiplayer features do you have in mind where players can interact?
A: Guild wars or activities are not planned for this year. First, we want to add more passive bonuses based on the activity of the Guild and its members. By participating in a guild, you will be able to unlock additional rewards, gear, and passive bonuses that will help you with exploration and future fights.
Q: Exact plans for further development of the game - greater use of current locations (Perusia, etc).
A: We are aware that the experience with Perusia can be very frustrating and unrewarding for some players. We do have plans to improve the location and make your efforts more efficient by providing additional activities (Dungeons, Resources locations, Events), rewards, and passive bonuses for completing the restoration efforts. Some improvements will come later this year.
Q: Local bosses - approximate dates and terms.
A: Boss Fights are important for Gladiators Game. Location bosses are a way to introduce repeatable challenges with a rotation of Boss spawning spots. For example, a rotation of 5 mighty enemies will spawn in different zones (some after beating them during quests) with special loot tables providing unique rewards, items with rare qualities, and additional resources. The ETA for this feature is listed in the roadmap published earlier.
Q: How many additional new locations/sub-locations are planned in the 13th Legion camp area?
A: At least 2 more Infiltration Missions, 1 brand new Dungeon with related Legendary Item progression, and 2-3 locations for the next portion of Tier 4 resources (and additional ways to gather current rare ones). Additionally, approximately 5 story missions are planned, as well as short side story arcs that will continue/complete your journey in search of a patron.
Q: Any upcoming changes in perks – some of them are now completely unnecessary (collecting water or clay, etc.)
A: No major plans for that, sorry.
Q: Additional places to obtain materials to expand warehouses (planes, saws, pliers, etc.)
A: These will be added to the Tier 4 location pool. Additionally, we have plans to introduce more storage options for specific items (like the Herb Storage). Besides, a new layer of storage capacity will be added for the old storage to ensure you have enough space to store your rewards.
Q: Are there any planned changes to controls/aiming/using items and potions on mobile devices - especially better aiming when shooting a bow?
A: There is an issue with target selection with ranged weapons that we are aware of and preparing to fix in future updates. As for the potions, we’ve already improved the Elixir flow, providing the opportunity to stack different bonuses among each other. Players already have 2 free pockets to combine different consumables, and we have no plans to introduce more. Sorry for that.
Q: Planned development of improving rings and necklaces?
A: No major plans except for the options to get Legendary Jewelry with major bonuses, as mentioned above.
Q: Upgrading equipment and weapons - no randomness of bonuses, more predictable bonuses, no loss of bonuses when upgrading equipment to a higher type (rare, epic, etc.)
A: No plans for that, sorry. This is a part of the “Collecting the best gear game,” and we have no plans to change it, at least for now.
Q: Changes in rewards for reaching levels - perks above lvl 70 are not motivating, maybe additional HP? Improving movement speed?
A: No particular plans for that.
Q: Assigning villagers to disassemble tables
A: Delegating Repairs & Disassemble jobs to Villagers is something we wanted to add for a long time. However, there is no ETA for this feature yet.
Q: Are there any plans to create a wiki with items/enemy stats or so? Or providing some stats here to allow players to easily compare stats?
A: Usually, this kind of information is collected and created by community members with additional help from developers who can provide some data. Our glorious member Squelettique, who is doing his best to help community members, had plans to fill the Wiki page but didn’t find any support from players. If you can contribute to the Wiki and sustain interest, we will do our best to support your efforts with any information/help you need.
Q: I think we should have javelins in the game.
A: The Javelin weapon will be introduced later in the game as a One-Handed ranged weapon.
Q: How about cooking areas outside of the home villa? Even just for meat or mushrooms.
A: Interesting suggestion. We will take that idea to the dev team and see what we can do about it.
Q: Would you contemplate a “pause” button on the timers for quests that auto-start, like Noxious Fumes... so that players can empty their backpacks and gather foods etc., as needed before starting the quest.
A: Instead of introducing a “Pause,” we would prefer to add an internal cooldown for these events so they never appear simultaneously.
Q: I have been playing since the release, and to prepare to make current iron equipment, I need to upgrade various workshops. However, the rare wooden, stone, and cloth processing tools necessary for this upgrade hardly ever appear. I understand the need to limit their appearance for end-game content, but even with the strongest equipment, enemies are too tough. Spending an entire day trying and not obtaining a single one happens frequently. Furthermore, with the large quantities needed, the game balance is so discouraging that I wonder if it was tested before release. I strongly urge improvements.
A: We’ve already added a couple of improvements based on player feedback regarding these items. Besides, the Infiltration missions provide additional ways to gather these items in exchange for some combat and raid experiences. We hope that’s enough for now, and please consider the answer above about our plans for the next locations.
Q: Why did u abandon the Daisho?
Q: who of the developers besides proximo remained in the team?
A: We did indeed have to shrink our team from 25 to 8 people because the modern reality is that the stores only give awareness to those apps that spend a lot of money on marketing and monetize very aggressively with interstitial ads after every level and things like that.
Colossi's games don't do that, and as a result 98% of players have never supported our development costs. We still will not be as greedy as others, but it's only enough to support 8 of the team members.
So our plan for now is to concentrate development more focused, with systematic features and Quality-of-Life features benefitting both games, train newer designers how to use our tools to make events, and try to gain more visibility on the marketing side too.
With a smaller team, that means content doesn't flow as quickly as you have been used to, but we will not abandon our games - rather we want to grow back to a state where every game has its own lead designer, identity, development path. For Gladiators, it's still Proximo in charge, for Daisho the caretaker is our programming guru Dr Doom until we have trained a replacement for Irqoo.
If you want to help us on our journey, that's easy: tell your friends to try our games. We hope to have demonstrated to be active developers with a face that make accessible games which are beautiful to watch and easy to play.
