To enhance the overall quality of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, the development team is working on updates that focus on combat experience improvements, growth structure reorganizations, and content reinforcement.

In this Developer's Note, we would like to outline the key updates currently planned and, for the first time, share the expected updated timeline.

Changes to Item Values: Growth Structure Reorganization

We are redesigning the acquisition methods and structure of the Artifact and Jewelry systems so that players can more intuitively understand and follow the growth process.

We are completely refining the acquisition system and overall structure for Artifacts and Jewelry. By removing the draw mechanics, these items are now obtainable primarily through content rewards.

In particular, we are enhancing the growth system for Jewelry to ensure a rewarding experience throughout the farming and refinement process. Furthermore, we are implementing a trading post system that allows players to freely trade unused Jewelry and items gained from gameplay content rewards.

Through this system, players can earn Dragon Gold, providing a clear sense of purpose for end-game content and enhancing the overall value of their items.

We are overhauling how Artifacts are earned and utilized, and there will be significant changes to their overall value and balance.

We will provide more specific details regarding Artifacts and Jewelry in our May Developer's Note.

Shifts in combat styles: Improvement of Playstyle

As previously introduced in our December Developer’s Note, we are preparing the weapon swap system. \

Weapons can be swapped freely depending on the situation, and when a swap is used while a specific gauge is charged, the rage gauge will be instantly recovered, allowing players to make more strategic use of each weapon’s skills.

A Specialization Point system will also be added so that players can experience more strategic control and a wider range of play styles through the weapon swap system.

The Weapon Specialization Point system is a growth feature that allows you to invest in each weapon type. It is designed to let you customize weapon performance and playstyles to suit your preferred strategic approach.

Furthermore, by improving parry timings and hit detection, we aim to reduce the sense of frustration in combat and make the overall combat flow feel more intuitive.

A New Trading Post: The Player Trading System

A new trading post system is being added to facilitate resource circulation between players and to expand the overall gameplay experience.

The system is designed to provide another growth path by allowing you to secure necessary resources through trading, in addition to direct acquisition. It also aims to naturally encourage interaction between players.

Players can freely trade a variety of items, including consumables (Draughts) and gathered materials, as well as growth-related equipment.This enables you to selectively acquire the resources you need based on your playstyle.

We hope the trading system will further activate player-driven economic activity and the broader community experience.

The overall difficulty balance will be adjusted to reflect the changes in the growth structure and combat system mentioned earlier.

With the significant changes to growth paths and combat flow, we are restructuring the difficulty and play experience for each content accordingly. We aim to ensure a seamless growth journey and rewarding experience of challenge.

Looking ahead, we will continue to share more specific details monthly through our Developer’s Notes, keeping you closely informed about the main system overhauls as we gear up for this massive update.

The development team is currently preparing a comprehensive overhaul with the goal of releasing the update in the third quarter of this year.

For the regions currently in service, we have major changes planned across the entire player experience, including the adjustments to core item value and a complete overhaul of the economic cycle. Furthermore, to align with the new growth and combat mechanics, we are preparing a comprehensive restructuring of regional content and overall world difficulty. Accordingly, we will proceed with the transfer of equipment and currency based on accumulated data, accompanied by a rebalancing process to align them with the new system structure.

For the Asia region, where the service is yet to be launched, we will first introduce the overhauled balance at the end of May. Following a thorough process of validation and enhancement based on actual gameplay data, we plan to sequentially expand these updates to all other regions.

Ideally, we would like to apply these improvements to all regions simultaneously. However, we have decided to prioritize stability and quality, given the current service environments, accumulated data, and various technical factors.

Even though it may take additional time, we aim to provide a seamless and complete experience for every Lord.

In this March Developer’s Note, we would like to introduce improvements related to the growth system, along with content currently in development to make your adventures in Westeros even richer.

Based on the many opinions you have shared with us, we are reviewing areas of discomfort that may arise during the growth process, as well as the overall flow of gameplay, and preparing various improvements to provide a smoother and more natural play experience.

With that, let’s dive into the details in today’s Developer Note.

🛠️ Content Currently in Development

1. Additional Growth Elements

In preparation for the upcoming weapon swap system, we are working on additional growth elements that will allow players to make deeper use of each weapon’s unique characteristics.

Through this system, players will be able to earn weapon-related Specialization Points and enhance stats suited to specific weapon styles.

Specialization Points are planned to be offered as rewards through various types of content, and the system is being developed to allow players the freedom to make growth choices that suit their individual play styles.

As the system is currently under development, further detail will be provided in an upcoming Developer’s Note.

2. New Mini-Game and Exploration Content

To make Westeros feel even richer, we are currently developing a variety of new systems and content.

We hope to go beyond a world traversal experience centered primarily on the main quest and give players the fun of stepping off the beaten path, exploring side areas, and making new discoveries for themselves.

To support that sense of exploration, we are preparing the following new content.

(1) Kingsroad Dice

It is said that merchants, sellswords, and riders traveling across Westeros would gather at taverns or campsites during long journeys and pass the time with simple dice games.

In particular, merchant caravans traveling along the Kingsroad began making wagers such as, “Win here, and I’ll knock a few coins off your drinks in the next town,” and before long, people naturally began calling the game Kingsroad Dice.

Now, players will also be able to play Kingsroad Dice for themselves at taverns.

The game is played by rolling dice to exceed the target score. Additional bonuses apply for certain combinations, making strategic choices and an important part of the experience.

Players will also be able to collect dice sets while exploring Westeros, meaning that the more regions they travel through and the more types of content they experience, the more powerful combinations they will be able to build in the game.

Kingsroad Dice is currently being developed as a leagues-style feature that can be played across major regions of Westeros, including the North, the Reach, and the Stormlands, and we hope it will deliver a fresh kind of fun through a different form of tension and satisfying gameplay from combat content.

(2) LockPick

While exploring Westeros, players may come across treasure chests or hidden caches that someone has tucked away in secret.

These places are not only concealed so that they are not easily found in the first place, but in most cases they are also secured with sturdy locks in case they are discovered by passing adventurers.

With Lockpick, players will be able to open hidden treasure chests scattered throughout Westeros themselves.

Inside, a wide range of rewards may be waiting, and what lies within will remain unknown until the chest is opened.

Of course, since these locks were fastened securely by someone, they will not be easy to open.

Players will need to understand the structure of lock and manipulate the pick with precision, making this a challenge that calls for timing, concentration, and two-handed coordination.

(3) Exploration Content

Our development team sometimes encourages players to step away from the main quest route, naturally explore their surroundings, and experience a wider variety of content.

For example, on the road to Highgarden, you may spot and hunt a rare wild animal, or you may follow a white crow glimpsed in the distance and discover a treasure chest hidden in a dark cave or some other secret location.

Some of the ornate chests found in such unexpected places can be opened using Lockpick, and because they are discoveries made through exploration, they will be accompanied by rewards worthy of the effort.

We hope that the discoveries and rewards hidden between the steps of your main journey will make exploring Westeros even more rewarding.

Through this Developer’s Note, we have briefly introduced several of the changes and new content our team is currently preparing.

There is still much in development, but our team continues to think carefully about how to make your journey through Westeros a richer and more enjoyable experience.

🛠️ New Content in Development

1. Avenger

We are currently developing a new content feature, \, inspired by the “Faceless Men” concept from the original series.

Avengers threaten players with assassin-like combat methods, including ambush attacks with daggers and disruption through poison and hallucinations. Rather than engaging in direct confrontations, they specialize in stealthy approaches and unpredictable attack timing. This is designed to offer a tense experience that differs from existing field combat.

In addition, Avengers may appear not as clearly identifiable enemies in armor, but disguised as ordinary civilians or NPCs encountered during exploration. For example, an NPC who seems to need help may suddenly reveal their true form and attack without warning.

This content is designed to appear naturally during daily quests or regular field gameplay. It will add sudden tension and unexpected variables to adventures that might otherwise feel calm and routine.

Defeating Avengers will grant Braavos Coins, which can be exchanged for various rewards through a dedicated shop.

We invite you to uncover the Avengers hidden across Westeros and enjoy a new style of combat, along with new rewards, through this content.

🛠️ Upcoming Improvements

1. Multiplayer Results Screen Improvements

In this update, we plan to improve the overall results screen experience in multiplayer content so that each player’s contribution and sense of accomplishment can be communicated more clearly.

Previously, results screens for multiplayer content such as the Altar of Memories,  Altar of Lost Memories, and World Boss encounters mainly listed contribution values and rewards in a simple format. Going forward, the results presentation will be enhanced so you can more intuitively and impressively see how actively each player contributed to the content.

With the updated results screen, a podium sequence will be added where the top three contributors’ characters appear directly. Their positions on the podium will vary based on their contribution.

Through this change, we hope your performance in multiplayer content will be recognized not only through rewards, but also through visual presentation. We expect this will create another enjoyable moment where you can showcase your character’s appearance and achievements to other players.

2. Cosmetic Collection

To expand the enjoyment of collecting various cosmetic items such as outfits, mounts, and weapon skins, we are preparing a Cosmetic Collection feature.

When you obtain a cosmetic item, it will be automatically registered to the collection. You will be able to view the appearances and related information you have gathered throughout your adventure at a glance. This will make it easier to look back on your collection history and preferences in a more intuitive way.

In addition, to make the process of completing the collection itself feel like a meaningful objective, we plan to provide commemorative rewards tied to collection milestones.

We hope this will allow you to naturally feel a sense of satisfaction in both the journey of collecting and the achievement of completion.

3. Storage Feature

As we have relied solely on the bag-based inventory system for item management, our team recognizes that there are limits to how comfortably items can be managed, even with inventory expansion.

To reduce the inconvenience of item management and provide a more comfortable gameplay environment, we are developing a new Storage system.

A storage keeper NPC will be newly placed in each town, allowing you to store items and retrieve them whenever needed.

You will also be able to expand storage space, enabling you to manage the wide variety of items obtained during your adventure with greater flexibility.

With the introduction of the Storage system, we hope the burden of inventory management during your travels across Westeros will be reduced. We also hope this will allow you to enjoy an even more immersive adventure.

Based on the many valuable suggestions we’ve received recently, we are working to reduce gameplay inconveniences and to deliver a more enjoyable and immersive experience.

🛠️ Content Currently in Development

1. Weapon Swap    

Weapon combinations available through the Weapon Swap System for each class have now been finalized.

You can view the confirmed weapon combinations for each class in the images below and explore different combat styles by switching weapons to match the situation.

Assassin: Dual Daggers / Rapier

The Assassin utilizes the swift and razor-sharp techniques favored by the Faceless Men and the warriors of Dorne.

By weaving together the rapid, consecutive strikes of dual daggers with the piercing precision of a rapier, the class offers an elegant yet deadly form of combat that values agility, accuracy, and timing above all.

Sellsword: Axe / Chain and Buckler

Inspired by the wild and brutal fighting styles of Westeros’s fiercest warriors, the Sellsword class alternates between a devastating two-handed axe and gauntlets/bucklers wrapped in chains.

The two-handed axe’s overwhelming strength combines with the buckler’s overwhelming pressure to create a ruthless and ferocious combat style.

Knight: Greatsword / Dual Blades

The Knight embodies the disciplined and weighty swordsmanship practiced by the knights of Westeros.

By combining the greatsword’s wide slashes with the dual blades’ precise strikes, the class delivers a balanced yet impactful combat style.

Detailed information on each weapon’s skill sets and system mechanics will be introduced in future Developer’s Notes.  

2. Improvements to the Altar of Memories

1) Wish Reward System Improvements

The Wish Reward system will be improved to make it more enjoyable than before.

Rewards had to previously be set separately for each dungeon. However, in the future, a single setting will apply across all Altar of Memories dungeons.

This will significantly reduce repetitive setup and make reward management more intuitive and streamlined.

2) Addition of Support Allies

We plan to add a Support Ally system to improve the accessibility and stability of the Altar of Memories. This will allow players to receive assistance from allies taking the role of players.

These allies will fill empty party slots in multiplayer content, reducing matchmaking waiting time and ensuring a smoother gameplay experience.

This system is especially designed to assist new and returning players, allowing them to challenge content together with supporting allies even when a full party is not available.

If matchmaking takes longer than expected, an ally will automatically join the team, allowing players to begin the challenge without delay.

We hope this improvement enables all players to enjoy the Altar of Memories with greater stability and confidence as they adventure across Westeros.

3. Other Systems and Content in Development

1) Party Spectator Mode

As mentioned in the last Developer’s Note, the number of resurrections are limited in Hard Mode in the Altar of Lost Memories, requiring more strategic decision-making.

When a player has used the maximum number of resurrections, they will no longer exit the battle entirely but can spectate from the perspective of surviving party members.

This will allow defeated players to analyze combat patterns and coordinate strategies for subsequent attempts. Additionally, we plan to add a camera-switching feature, so that players can freely view the battle from different party members’ points of view.

2) Enemy Hideouts (Elite)

To broaden multiplayer experiences, our team is developing new co-op content that diverges from competitive PvE formats. Enemy Hideouts are a two-player co-op mode based on the existing Enemy Hideouts system, emphasizing team coordination and strategic combat rather than simple enemy elimination.

Compared to regular Hideouts, Elite Hideouts feature a greater number of enemies and progressively increasing difficulty as you and your partner clear them more efficiently.

Through the Affix System, enemies will appear with various debuff skills that require strategic role distribution and cooperation to overcome.

This new format is designed to reduce repetitiveness and deliver a fresh co-op experience centered on tactical teamplay and dynamic coordination.

In this Developer’s Note, we share an overview of our ongoing development progress and offer a glimpse into how Westeros is evolving.

As we approach the end of the year, we hope this developer note will give you a preview of upcoming changes and how these improvements will enhance your gameplay experience.

🛠️ Current Development Progress

1. Cutscene & Graphic Enhancements

We are currently enhancing cutscenes and overall visuals across the game, including the initial Prologue sequences, to create a more immersive gameplay experience.

In this Developer’s Note, we would like to give you a first look at these improvements,

focusing on the opening Prologue section — the very beginning of the journey.

We are refining the key story and graphics in the Beyond the Wall region to more faithfully capture the original work’s dark and brutal tone,  providing a more immersive and vivid experience.

You can get a sense of the atmosphere in the updated prologue through the following image.

2. Enhanced Combat Impact & Immersion

A new visual effect when defeating enemies will be introduced to further enhance the intensity and satisfaction of combat.

This feature aims to capture the visceral atmosphere of the original work, allowing players to experience the decisive impact of each blow and the distinct characteristics of their weapons more clearly.

We are carefully tuning the effect in order to amplify the sense of realism and immersion during battles, while ensuring a smooth combat flow.

3. Weapon Swap System

We are currently developing the Weapon Swap System, which was briefly introduced in a previous developer note and is one of the key upcoming features.

This system is designed to add more depth and strategy to combat.

Allowing players to utilize a wider array of combat styles by swapping weapons mid-battle.

Your equipped gear and character progression remain intact even when your stance changes due to a weapon swap, and a separate skill set will automatically be activated.

✔ Each skill set is being developed to use its own independent skill slots and cooldowns.

Additionally, with the introduction of new weapons, the total range of available skills is expected to more than double compared to before.

Some skills are specialized for responding to or neutralizing specific enemy patterns, allowing for more strategic choices during combat.

Here's a brief look at the improved combat gameplay of the Knight class wielding a sword and dual swords.

4. New Multiplayer Content

To offer a new form of gameplay experience, we are developing a new multiplayer PvE content themed around Harrenhal.

This content is designed to remove the burden of direct PvP combat  and focuses on competitive play based on strategic decisions and PvE proficiency.

The content will feature team-based battles (N vs N) where indirect interference mechanics allow teams to affect each other during combat,  making teamwork and strategic choices more important than mere Momentum.

We will provide more detailed information on structure, rules, and gameplay in a future developer note.

5. Chapter 4 – New Episode

We are well aware of the anticipation from players waiting for the journey beyond Crow’s Nest.

In the upcoming Chapter 4, a new story will unfold across the diverse regions of Westeros.

The new chapter begins when the player, falsely accused, is imprisoned in Casterly Rock under the rule of House Lannister.

Casterly Rock will serve as the first major setting in Chapter 4,  where new conflicts will arise and difficult decisions will be made.

6.Altar of Lost Memories – Kraken of the Iron Islands: Hard Mode

Rising above the rugged coast as if tearing the sea asunder, a massive Kraken has reappeared more ferocious than before on a remote isle of the Iron Islands.

Limited resurrection counts and new combat patterns will be introduced in the new Hard Mode, making it more challenging and requiring higher combat proficiency and strategic decision-making.

7. Market System  

We are preparing a Market System to improve the gameplay experience.

This system is designed not just as a convenience feature,  but as a way to turn dedicated play into meaningful growth opportunities.  It also encourages natural interaction between players,

 bringing renewed vitality to the community as a whole.

Through the Market, players will be able to freely trade various resources, including crafting materials, list surplus items for sale, and quickly obtain needed materials to aid their journey.

We hope this system will help players acquire resources through cooperation,

 reinforcing the sense that you are not adventuring alone in Westeros.

8. World Difficulty Expansion: Hedge Knight III

We are fully aware of the fatigue many players are experiencing while trying to acquire materials required to craft Tier 7 Legendary equipment.

To address this, we plan to gradually reduce the burden of material acquisition through in-game events and other measures.

In addition, the World Difficulty Hedge Knight III will be introduced in January.

* 280,000 Momentum is required to unlock the World Difficulty Hedge Knight III.

The acquisition rates for Tier 7 Legendary equipment, crafting materials, and other high-tier items will be increased in Hedge Knight III.

Furthermore, similar to how \ and \ were added during previous World Difficulty expansions, \ and \ will be added to the Exchange Shop as part of this World Difficulty expansion.
