HEY Funguys,
The date is locked: Funguys Swarm hits Version 1.0 on August 25 at 9 a.m. PT.
For the first time, Funguys is also coming to consoles. Alongside Steam and the Epic Games Store, Version 1.0 launches day one on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and the Xbox app on PC.
The release date trailer is live. Take a look at what’s waiting for you in Version 1.0. 👀
Version 1.0 is the biggest version of Funguys Swarm yet, with new ways to build your Funguys, grow stronger between runs, and battle through increasingly chaotic encounters.
Here is a taste of what’s coming:
A new final arena where you can put your strongest builds to the ultimate test
The Forest Strength system, a new form of meta-progression that lets you carry power between runs
New playable characters with their own abilities, animations, quirks, and playstyles
Twitch integration that lets chat interfere with your game live
New skills, treelings, and relics for even more powerful and ridiculous combinations
One secret character we are not ready to reveal just yet 👀
We will share the complete Version 1.0 rundown, including more details, numbers, and footage, closer to launch.
On July 24 at 9 a.m. PT, the Steam Early Access price will increase from US$6.99 to US$9.99. The console versions will also launch at US$9.99.
Existing owners will receive the complete Version 1.0 update at no additional cost.
Steam requires 30 days between a price increase and a discount. Making this change now allows us to offer a Steam launch discount when Version 1.0 arrives on August 25. We will announce the discount details closer to release.
Thank you for supporting Funguys Swarm throughout Early Access. We cannot wait to bring the full game to everyone on August 25.
See you in the arena!

HEY Funguys!
Welcome to the March 2026 Funguys Swarm Dev Update!
Our fifth major update, the Optimization Update, is live now!
In this announcement, we’ll showcase major CPU usage improvements in the arena, introduce in-game graphic settings, go over quality-of-life improvements, highlight several gameplay changes, and finish with balance updates.
Many players informed us that the game can slow down significantly during large swarms — especially in the late game.
In extreme situations, the game could drop to very low FPS and even freeze for several seconds.
We've spent the last few months optimizing the core swarm simulation, and the improvement is huge. Large battles should now remain much smoother and far more stable, even when the arena becomes chaotic.
Performance Comparison (on Steam Deck)
What does this mean for you?
In short:
Massive swarms should feel much smoother.
Frame drops recover much faster.
Long freezes should no longer happen.
Even in the most chaotic moments, performance now recovers within 1–2 seconds.
Sometimes you want to keep it light, we get it. You can now adjust graphics in the settings via the Quality Preset option.
\
Damage Number Speed: Adjustable damage number animation speed
Use In-Game Cursor toggle: Option to use the in-game cursor pointer
Enemy Outline toggle: Show / Hide character outlines
Enemy Ground Splatter toggle: Show / Hide Enemy Ground Splatter.

Hi Funguys,
We're releasing a hotfix to address the issue with the Starpath quests to unlock Fuzzbug and Groovba. Thank you for reporting the issue to us.
We're also actively investigating the crash and lag issues. If you experience these issues, feel free to report them to us through our Steam Discussion or on our Discord. Bugfixes:

Hi everyone!
This patch focuses on reducing the difficulty spikes and grind in Starpath quests that many of you have felt. Weapons, characters, and skills now unlock much earlier, giving you more freedom to experiment and discover fun builds.
Runs should feel smoother and less restrictive from the start. We’ve also adjusted overall difficulty so it’s easier to reach builds that feel strong and satisfying. We hope that every run feels rewarding, without slowing you down or getting in the way of the fun.
Starpath Quests have been readjusted.
Access to new Skills and Passives is now easier early on, allowing players to build fun runs the way they want.
Weapons and Characters are more accessible, allowing for earlier experimentation.
Several values that felt overly grindy have been tweaked to encourage trying different runs.
Fire Offer costs have been adjusted. Less punishment for taking valuable cards.
Skill Upgrade Epic and Legendary costs have been reduced from 4 and 5 to 2 and 3.
Passive Upgrade Epic and Legendary costs have been reduced from 3 and 4 to 1 and 2.
Fiery Speed initial value has been reduced from 5% to 1%. (We noticed there are too much of Fire Curse runners very early in the curse)
King’s Favourite initial value has been reduced from 13% to 5%.
The amount of XP dropped by Shrine XP has been increased.
Shrine spawn chance has been increased from 60% to 80%.
Skill and Passive Shrines are now guaranteed to offer a minimum of Rare rarity.
The effect of Luck on rarity has been increased, previously the value does not reflect how it feels to be lucky.
Sanctuary Pond Luck costs have been reduced from 1000 / 2000 / 3000 / 5000 / 9000 to 500 / 1000 / 2000 / 3000 / 5000.
Sanctuary Pond Powerup Drop costs have been increased from 500 / 2000 / 4000 to 1000 / 3000 / 5000.
Shrooms can now drop during the first run.
Ersa
Now has a 25% chance to shatter all Frozen enemies, instead of rolling separately for each enemy. In the previous version, triggering this doesn’t feel as satisfying.
Cooldown reduction per Water Card has been increased from 7.5% to 10%, with a maximum of 80%.
Fuzzbug
Pixie damage now scales with the number of Pixies you have.
X-olotl
Now starts with 1 clone that deals 25% of your weapon damage.
Weapon damage percentage now scales with Beast Cards.
When you have 4 or more Beast Cards, an additional clone is summoned.
Chimpy
Retaliate area radius has been increased to 1250.
Water Snek
Damage upgrade card value has been increased from 3.75 to 5 at Common rarity.
Infernal Leap
Cooldown upgrade card value has been reduced from 0.75s to 0.5s.

Quick Cast
Now unlocked by default. Allowing for early cooldown builds.
Wider Reach
Now locked by default and unlockable by completing Carrot Farm.
Hellcap
Bonus damage per Fire Curse has been reduced from 10% to 5%.
Hellcap now reduces the chance of HP drops, instead of adding a timer to health drops.

Hey everyone!
We know the recent 0.5 update made the game harder than intended. It could feel too grindy, and player choices didn’t matter as much as they should.
We’re very sorry about this. With this release, we’ve taken steps to fix these issues.
One of the most noticeable problems was how Amount scaling worked during a run. Before 0.5, it was possible to build around increasing skill projectile Amount, but in 0.5 those builds were almost non-existent. This was caused by a design issue in how Amount cards were calculated to appear, giving them a significantly lower chance compared to other upgrade cards. This has been corrected in this release.
Damage scaling had also drifted too far from the pre-0.5 balance. With this update, we’ve brought it closer to the original experience so that player power scales correctly with enemy strength, as originally intended.
The damage scaling issue in 0.5 also made it harder to kill enemies, which caused them to pile up on screen and significantly impacted performance. While this update doesn’t completely resolve all performance issues, it should bring performance closer to what it was previously. We’re also planning a dedicated optimization patch in our future update.
Finally, regarding progression: the higher difficulty in 0.5 reduced the chances of successfully completing Starpath quests, making progression feel frustratingly slow. With this release, progression should be back to its intended pace.
Thanks for all the feedback — it’s been invaluable in helping us improve the game.
The calculations that determine the appearance chance of Amount Upgrade Cards have been redesigned. This issue caused the Amount attribute to have a significantly lower chance compared to other attributes, resulting in player power being much lower than intended.
Damage upgrade rarity values for all Skill Cards have been increased to better reflect older values.
All weapons now correctly have 5% Crit Chance and 150% Crit Damage by default.
Damage, Attack/Charge Speed, Crit Chance, and Crit Damage values for all Weapon Upgrade Cards have been increased.
Shrine spawn weights have been adjusted.
Reinforcement Fire Curse now spawns copies with 50% of the original enemy’s health. Copies now use a different colored outline to distinguish them from the original.
Frozen Pond slipperiness has been reduced, allowing more player control in the arena.
Groovba
Now has +60% increased debuff damage by default.
Each Nature Card increases this bonus by an additional +20%.
Joomba
Bonus damage per Sky Card has been increased from +5% to +10%.
Now correctly affects both weapon and skill damage.
Sexy Totem
XP pickup requirement has been increased from 10 to 25.
Wider Area
Base value reduced from 6% to 5%.
Fixed X-olotl’s Starpath progression not being saved properly.
Fixed Stinky Trail and Frozen Splash not working on X-olotl and Fuzzbug.
Correctly hid X-olotl’s clones when mounting Potatobot.
Fixed X-olotl’s clones being able to drown below ground level.
Grass Slash now correctly ignores Move Speed.
Fixed Shieldshroom being retroactively affected by Reinforcement from Fire Curse.
Fixed Infernal Escape, Burrow Down, Midnight Ghost, and Lightning Speed not pausing dash cooldowns, resulting in infinite dash usage.
Fixed chests sometimes do not drop anything even though you have upgradeable cards.

HEY Funguys!
Welcome to the January 2026 Funguys Swarm Dev Update! Our fourth major update, the New Characters Update, is live now!In this blog, we introduce six new characters and reveal a new system where skills and passives now have rarities. We’ll also cover new gameplay mechanics, including Shrines, Luck, and Armor. Finally, we showcase brand-new content, such as fire curses and blessings. We're adding not 1, not 2, but 6 new characters this time!
Here they are:
Groovba: Debuffs deal +20% damage for each Nature card you have. Enemies killed by debuffs have a 2% chance to drop a half heart.
Joomba: After standing still for 3 seconds, gain +50% damage, plus +20% for each Sky card you have.
Fuzzbug: Start with 1 pixie that damages enemies. Pixies are affected by amount modifiers. Gain +1 projectile for every 2 Night cards you have.
X-Olotl: For every 5 Beast cards you have, spawn a copy of yourself that deals 50% of your weapon damage. Dash cooldown is reduced by 5% per Beast card. After you dash, gain +50% attack speed for 2 seconds.
NutsNBoltz: You can now find Nuts in the arena. Nuts charge your mecha by 20% and grant +50% movement speed for 5 seconds. Nut bonuses are increased for each Earth card you have.
Chimpy: Convert all HP into Armor. HP pickups no longer drop. Taking damage while armored causes an explosion, dealing 100 damage. Explosion damage increases by 20% for each Nature card you have.
Check out two of their many bonkers abilities
\
Fuzzbug focuses like Night cards, she starts with 1 pixie and gets more pixie the more for every 2 night cards she has.
\
X-Olotl summons clones of itself for every 5 beast cards she has, passive or active cards both count.
\
Skill and Passive now have random rarity each time you level up. More gacha mechanics, more fun.
Here are the rarity levels:
Common
Rare
Epic
Legendary
Each higher rarity will give a higher stat boost. E.g., Legendary Green Heart will give more hearts than Common Green Heart.
Skills levels are also reworked a bit. Skills now maxed at level 10, mutation at level 5 and 10.
\
Shrines: New interactable you can find in arena. You must stay within them for a short time before they give you their rewards.
Funguys Evolutions are now also findable in Funguy Shrines instead of getting it every 5 and 10 minutes.
Armor shrines drop Armors. 1 hit = 1 armor. You lose 1 armor for 1 hit from any enemy.
The higher your luck, the higher the skill and passive rarity chance.
\
You can also find the Luck skill passive to increase it even more. Try a luck-focused build!
\
That handsome ball of fire is Death Follows, the highest-level fire curse at level 30. Think your extra lives will save you? Psych! Death Follows comes back for you after you revive.
We hear you like fire curses, so we add some more. Here they are:
Fire Curses:
Infused Projectiles - curse lvl 10
Enemy ranged projectiles move faster.
Slowing Heat - curse lvl 15
Spawn slowing fields that reduce your movement speed.
Internal Catapult - curse lvl 20
Fiery meteors fall around you.
Scorching Treasures - curse lvl 25
Resources and XP Beans expire after a duration.
Death Follows - curse lvl 30
A mass of death appears and slowly moves toward you. Touching it results in instant death.
Fire Blessings:
Treasure Hunter - blessing lvl 5
An additional bonus when picking up resources.
Lucky Cards - blessing lvl 15
Chance for Rare cards to appear more often.
Forest Power - blessing lvl 15
Chance for all damage you deal to be critical hits.
We also allow you to level up the fire skill up to level 30 for those of you who like a bit more heat.
We release 4 new skills with this update:
Infernal Escape - Dash skills.
Your Dash is replaced with a leap into the sky. After a delay, you land and deal damage to all enemies in the area.
Sexy Totem
Every time you pick up 10 XP Beans, summon a totem that deals constant damage for its duration.
Water Snek
Spawn a slithering Water Snek that damages and slows enemies it passes through.
Frog Support - Weapon Skills
Spawn a frog that shoots projectiles based on the ranged weapon you use.
That’s all for now, folks.

Welcome to the December 2025 Funguys Swarm Dev Update!
Our third major update, the Starpath Update, will go live on December 17 at 6:00 PM PST.
In this blog, we'll go over Steam capsule redesign, Shroomba and Ersa redesign, the progression overhaul, 6 new dash skills, 2 new skills, 5 treelings, and 3 new relics.
The new character, “NUTCASE,” is now featured on the capsule, and the vibe is more chaotic than ever.
\
We felt Shroomba and Ersa are too plain and cute for the new vibe we're aiming for, so we gave them a more fierce look.
We hear you folks. Lots of you think the game is fun, but it's too short. Well, we're changing all that. We're revamping our entire achievement progressions!
We’re completely revamping the achievement progression system. Previously, Starpath had 56 achievements. With this update, we’re adding 47 new achievements, bringing the total to 103 achievements to unlock. The new progression gives you clearer goals to work toward, more milestones to chase, and rewards that feel more meaningful based on how far you’ve progressed.Because this is a major change, all resources will be refunded for existing save files, so you can re-engage with the new system from a clean slate. We're introducing not one, not two, but six new dash skills and two new skills! Here are some of them:
\
Your dash is replaced with a dig. On dash, you burrow underground and move forward until you emerge, dealing damage and knockback.
\
Your dash is replaced with ghost mode. On dash, you spawn a shadow-self and become an invulnerable ghost for a duration.
\
On cooldown, you spawn 2 fists that punch forward, dealing damage and knocking back enemies.
\
We know you like the cute treelings, here, have some more:
We just added 3 new relics:

HEYO! Welcome to the October 2025 Funguys Swarm Dev Update!
Our first major update: Lava Jungle is here, let’s go bananas! But, before that, we would like to thank you all for this achievement. Funguys Swarm just hit an Overwhelmingly Positive review on Steam!
This time, we'll show you a more detailed view of the Lava Jungle, a more in-depth explanation of the new revamped weapon system, and our very first Mecha!
Lava Jungle Arena is our hottest and most difficult level yet. The area is filled with pools of lava, where one wrong step will mean taking damage.
\
Standing in the lava will make your character glow red, and after a brief delay, you’ll start taking damage. Better save that dash while avoiding enemies, hah!
\
\
\
\
Lava Jungle hard? Don't worry! We gotchu fam.
Introducing Potato Bot, a powerful mecha bot that is unlocked once you unlock Lava Jungle Arena. You can jump while piloting Potato Bot and can shoot exploding potato bombs. Once the blue bar is charged, it will release a special attack.
There are 3 mecha charge bars. The bar charges automatically over time but fills faster as you defeat more enemies.
Once at least one bar is charged, you can press the "Call Mecha" button to transform into Potato Bot. If you save up and charge multiple bars at once you get a bonus duration so you can stay in Potato Bot longer.
\
As you deal more damage to enemies, you’ll notice the blue bar filling up. This is the ultimate attack bar. Fill it up, and once it’s full, press the button to unleash the ultimate attack and cause absolute mayhem!
\
Hornet Spike is a weapon for sharpshooter players. You can charge the Hornet to release a spike that travels farther than a normal one. All spikes pierce through enemies, allowing you to damage multiple foes at once, perfect for lined-up packs!
We’ve reworked our weapon system! Now, every 3 levels, you can pick a Weapon Card to level up your weapon, and every 12 levels, you can choose a Weapon Mutation.
Every 3 levels, you will be able to pick a weapon card augment. Each weapon card augment can have a rarity of Common, Rare, or Epic. Higher rarities provide stronger stat upgrades.
Every 12 levels, you will be able to pick a weapon mutation.
\
A weapon mutation is a powerful skill that lets you strengthen your playstyle. We’ve added 10 mutations for each weapon, allowing you to explore the many different possibilities offered by the new Weapon Card system.
Weapon Cards add variety and replayability to each run. You can create a build that relies on attack speed, or one that focuses on attack damage.
Each build relies on the augments and mutations to strengthen a particular playstyle.
We hope this adds even more variation to each run.
That’s all for now, folks! Next time we’ll be showing off:
The next clucky arena.
Debuff Mutations and how to use them.
and many more!
Thank you,

Our Early Access launch went great Over 400 reviews so far and sitting at a shiny 96% “Very Positive”!
Huge thanks for all the feedback — the good, the bad, and the weird. We’re taking it all in and already working on improvements.

Enemy 2: Big Whale
\
We’ve been cooking up a new arena, a shiny new weapon system, and… something electric. Here’s a little sneak peek:
Watch your step! The Lava Jungle’s crawling with wild creatures, juicy fruits, giant bones, and oh yeah… lava that’s hotter than the Fire King himself!
Something electric is coming (and slightly starchy)
We’ve heard you love the tunes, so we’re dropping the Funguys Swarm soundtrack! Snag it in MP3 or FLAC for crisp beats.
Our favorite tunes: Have a listen to our team's favorite, Bossa de Shroomba: Stream Bossa de Shroomba by Funguys Swarm | Listen online for free on SoundCloud Can you guess where this plays in the game? How to get it:
This first release includes 10 songs — and we’ll keep adding more as the world of Funguys Swarm keeps growing!
If you haven't got the game, you can also get the bundle to get both and the game with an added 10% discount here:

HEYO! Welcome to the July 2025 Funguys Swarm Dev Update! 🍄🔥
This month, it’s all about combat chaos! Also, a big shout out to everyone who played our demo during Steam Next Fest!
We just wrapped up an incredible week at Steam Next Fest—and what a ride it's been!
Let’s break down what we showed off:
⚔️ 1 playable Funguy, ready to rumble
🔫 2 deliciously goofy weapons — the Throwing Grapes and the Watermelon Axe
🏟️ 1 epic arena to test your skills.
We loved watching your runs (and meltdowns 🔥), and your feedback has already sparked some improvements. 🙌
Missed the demo? No worries, it’s still live! Dive in and try to survive the swarm.
Each Funguy has its own weird and wonderful way of surviving the swarm, whether you're looking for raw power, speedy shenanigans, or pure mayhem, there's a Funguy for you!
First up, let's meet Shroomba!
Shroomba is the fearless leader of the Funguys, always ready to charge headfirst into the chaos!
With his sturdy mushroom cap and positive attitude, he's tough enough to take a hit and strong enough to dish out spore-tacular punishment. Character Special Skills: Iron Shroom
We have 4 weapons:
Each weapon bring themselves a unique skill you can pick from in the arena. Explain melee and ranged weapons, and how they have specific skills.
Let's start with the first one, Watermelon Axe.
The watermelon axe is Shroomba's favorite weapon. This weapon also has special skills! Here are 2 out of the 3 special skills that are available when you choose Watermelon Axe.
Watermelon Axe Skill 1: Moon Slash
Watermelon Skill 2: Bubble Jump
In the arena, as you defeat enemies, defeated enemies will drop XP beans.
Enemies will drop XP Beans when defeated. Once you have enough XP, you will level up. Every time you level up, you can pick from 3 skills.
There are two kinds of skills: Active Skills and Passive Skills.
Active Skills
Active skills are the skills you pick that immediately give visible skill that can be progressed. Active skills can be leveled up from 1 to 7. Each level up strengthens that particular skill.
Skill Showcase: Passive Skills
Passive skills strengthen all the other active skills that synergized with the passive skills. E.g. Wide Reach increase the range of Shockwave (the skill above).
Welcome to Carrot Farm, the perfect patch for sprouting new survivors! This cozy countryside hideout is free from tricky hazards, making it the ideal spot to get your feet (and maybe your spores) wet.
ENEMY 1: Chilli Pepper
ENEMY 2: Pomegrenade
ENEMY 3: Peashooter
We will be introducing the next hero in Funguys Swarm: Ersa!

Hi Funguys!
We're releasing another hotfix with various improvements and fix some bugs in the demo.
We’re incredibly grateful for your thoughtful feedback, and we hope this hotfix shall help you rise against the Fire King's Army!
Reroll is now bound to the Y button on controller.
When revived in combat, the player now returns with a full heart (instead of just 1 heart).
Improved Level Selection UI: future game modes no longer display by default — you can now switch between available modes using a button. (More modes coming soon!)
Fixed various localization and button prompt errors.
Fixed the Splash Shot damage calculation error introduced by the Shatter rework.
Fixed an issue where enemies could become invulnerable when afflicted with both Freeze and Flat status effects.
Best,
Stairway Team
Hi Funguys!
Steam Next Fest is over, thank you SO much for playing and sending in your feedback!
We’ve just dropped the 0.1.4-Demo Version update to address some of the things you've pointed out. Here’s what’s new:
Skill and Passive cards are now back to have 7 levels instead of 10!
Mutations appear at level 4 and 7. This means faster pacing, more meaningful upgrades, and more importantly, you get to pick more Mutations per run!
(NEW) Rerolls! By popular demand, you can now unlock Reroll Tokens from Starpath that will give you 3 Reroll Tokens every time you go to the Carrot Farm. More Reroll Tokens and variations will be available in Early Access!
The Skills Info panel can now be closed by pressing again TAB on the keyboard or Select button on the controller.
General:
Reduced Dash Cooldown from 7.5s to 6s.
Slightly increase the chance of health drops to spawn.
Skills:
Manafall
Fixed Manafall sometimes does not target the right enemies.
Fixed Manafall Crystals now get destroyed by enemies' attacks (such as projectiles and explosives).
Repulsive Shock
Changed Unstable Garlic mutation now does not also reduce the radius, instead it now always temporarily increases the radius while radiating before returning to the original radius.
Thunder Spear
Fixed Thunder Spear sometimes spawns attached to the player even when there are no mutations taken.
Enemies
Reduced Carrot Farm 3rd elite HP from 16K to 14K.
Reduced Appletini HP from 46K to 42K.
Best,
Stairway Team
Guess what?
That’s right. It’s big. It’s juicy. It’s a very serious weapon. And now it’s yours to swing at anything that twitches.
With this update, the demo now includes TWO (2) WEAPONS:
Throwing Grapes — for long-range fruity carnage
(NEW!) WATERMELON AXE — for up-close chillies deletion
Got opinions? Weird bugs? Game-breaking builds? We want ‘em all.
