CoffeeBean V1.6 hairband B position fix
Model list minimum size adjustment
This update introduces a new Layers system for adding text overlays, a scene-based workflow for saving and exporting setups, batch export tools, and improvements to color editing and camera control.
Layers Panel: A new Layers panel has been added, allowing you to place text directly into your scene.
Text Style Editing: Customize color, outline, and shadow styling of the text.
Text Layer Order: Control layer stacking order by dragging layers above or below the model row. Text layers can be placed on top of or behind the model. Currently supports built-in fonts only.
Camera Control Panel: A camera control panel has also been added to the Layers tab, allowing fine adjustments to: zoom, position, and rotation
IMPORTANT: Layer setups must be saved as a Scene to persist. Text edits and other layer operations are not undoable at this time.
Scene: Export configurations can now be saved as Scenes. A Scene stores a complete snapshot of your current setup, including: active animation, playback speed, pause state, camera position, zoom, rotation, model visibility, text layers and text styling.
Scene Lists: Scenes can be grouped into Scene Lists, which are saved locally per model. Once a Scene List is created, you can use Batch Export to export all scenes automatically.
Export All Scenes: runs a standard animation export for each scene in the list. Each scene is applied sequentially (animation, camera, text, and model state) before exporting.
Parts picker tool: A new parts picker tool has been added for easier color editing. Select colorable parts directly from the viewport.
Location: The picker is located next to the parts filter (target icon).
Usage: Left-click to enter pick mode, then click a part in the viewport to select it. Click empty space or the picker button again to cancel.
Viewport Highlight: Colorable parts are highlighted in yellow. Unselectable or custom texture parts are highlighted in red.
Note: The parts picker only helps you locate and select a part in the list. You still need to manually switch the color mode (default, tint, or two-color tint) to change how the selected part is tinted.
New Animations: Cheese Slap, Clown 1, Clown 2, Electric Fan 1, Electric Fan 2, Fire 1, Fire 2, Folding Fans, Get Hit (Bits), Get Hit (Coin), Get Hit (Custom), Get Hit (Heart), Get Hit (Slipper), Guitar, Slipper 1, Slipper 2, Sunglasses Loop, This Is Fine 1, This Is Fine 2, This Is Fine 3, Wink. For more details, please visit: https://emotelab.app/assets/CoffeeBean/animations/v1-6/
Model modification: The custom hand used in the think animations has been changed from the standard hand to a hand with the index finger extended. Added a new custom part for hair framing.
Animation modification: Added stools for working animations.
Localization: Adjusted the Chinese translations for some parts and animations.
Fix: Horn length difference
Note: The first model in the list, named “CoffeeBean”, is the newest version. Models with version numbers and sleep icons are older versions kept for archival purposes only. It is recommended to use the newest version whenever possible.
Fixed an issue with the Slider list filter, where the filter can trigger unwanted change events under certain conditions.
Fixed and issure where the localization is not applied.
Modified frame limitation. Now the app frame limitation is 60 fps. Note that this will not affect animation exporting.

This update introduces Steam Workshop publishing tools, expands model format support, and adds new languages, parts, and animations.
Publish to Workshop: You can now publish local models and local characters to Steam Workshop directly from the main menu. Publishing features include creating new Workshop items, updating existing ones, setting Workshop title, description, visibility, and other Steam metadata, using a custom preview image or viewport capture, and automatic detection of previously published content for easier updates. Content is uploaded in the .elpack package format.
Character Publishing Compatibility: To upload a character created in a previous version of EmoteLab, please save the character again using the newest EmoteLab version before publishing.
Model Publishing: Models published to Steam Workshop must use Spine 4.3 and include a model.meta.json file. The metadata file must specify a SharedModelKey, which determines the model family to which the published model belongs. Different variants of the same model (for example, CoffeeBean_V1_0 to CoffeeBean_V1_5) should use the same SharedModelKey so they can share character data. If your model does not belong to an existing family, you may use the model file name as the SharedModelKey.
{ "SharedModelKey": "CoffeeBean"}
Workshop Browsing: Browsing Workshop items and managing subscriptions (subscribe/unsubscribe) needs to be done through the Steam Workshop page, either in the Steam client or on the Steam website. The in-app content browser is not implemented yet.
Model List: Steam Workshop models are now indexed and displayed in the model list.
Model Icons: The newest version of a model now uses a sparkling icon, while older versions use a sleep icon.
Asset Type Labels: Asset type labels have been shortened for improved readability. Built-in refers to assets included with EmoteLab, Third-Party refers to local models in the model folder, and Workshop refers to models subscribed to through Steam Workshop.
Open Model Folder Button: Opens the local model folder in your file explorer. New models still require an application restart before they are indexed.
Publish Model Button: Publishes the selected local model to Steam Workshop. Built-in models and models downloaded from Steam Workshop cannot be republished.
Character List: Steam Workshop characters are now indexed and displayed in the character list.
Character Type Icon: Added an icon before each character name to distinguish local and Workshop characters.
Save Character: The Save Character button now uses an icon instead of a text label for easier recognition.
Open Character Folder Button: Opens the character folder for the currently loaded model.
Publish Character Button: Publishes the selected character to Steam Workshop. Be sure to save any changes before publishing.
Reset Character Button: Now uses an icon instead of a text label and resets the character to its default state.
Delete Character Button: Now uses an icon instead of a text label and permanently deletes the selected character.
Main Menu Icons: Updated icon style throughout the main menu.
New Animations: Alert Custom, Button, Card Swipe, Coke Shake, Dance (Scuba), Gift 1, Gift 2, Magic, Reverse, Scared 1, Scared 2, Six Seven, Six Seven (Dum), and Take My Money. For more details, please visit: https://emotelab.app/assets/CoffeeBean/animations/
New Parts: Hair Ponytail (7 kinds, 2 custom regions), Eyepatch (3 kinds, 2 custom regions), jacket, and cape with fur collar.
New Sliders: Hair Pigtail >> Position, Hair Pigtail >> Length, Hair Pigtail >> Angle, Hair Pigtail << Position, Hair Pigtail << Length, Hair Pigtail << Angle, Hair Ponytail Width, Hair Ponytail Length, Hair Ponytail Angle, and Alert Size.
Texture atlas change: Cape parts now use white outlines instead of black to maintain consistency with other outfits. Additionally, several parts that were not exactly white (#FFFFFF) have been corrected.
Machine translations: Italian and Swedish.
Community Contributors: Thank you to everyone who has contributed translations and helped improve EmoteLab's localization. See all contributors here: https://github.com/GlycoProduction/EmoteLab-localization/graphs/contributors
Spine 4.3 Stable: EmoteLab now uses the stable Spine 4.3 runtime and is compatible with skeleton exports from Spine Editor 4.3.00 and newer. If you have a local model created using a Spine 4.3 beta editor, please export the model again using Spine Editor 4.3.00 or newer.
Binary Spine Model Support: Local and Workshop-ready models can now use Spine binary skeleton files (.skel.bytes) in addition to JSON skeleton files.
Built-in CoffeeBean Models: All built-in CoffeeBean models have been updated and re-exported using the latest stable Spine version.
Local Model Display Information: The required file names for local model display information have changed to: Animations.csv, SkinGroups.csv, Sliders.csv, SlotGroups.csv
This update added new parts to the built-in model, changed the character loading system, and added new languages.
Unified Character Data: Different versions of the same model now share the same character folder, license, and translation data. Characters are forward and backward compatible, but if a character uses parts introduced in a newer version, those parts will not appear when loaded in an older model. It is recommended always to edit and save characters using the newest model version (the one without a version number in the model list) whenever possible. For CoffeeBean models, the characte data must be placed in C:\\Users\\\\Documents\\EmoteLab\\Characters\\CoffeeBean (path may vary depending on your settings).
Custom Texture Folder Changes: Each model version now uses its own custom texture folder, including the newest model. The generic “CoffeeBean” custom texture folder is no longer used.
Community translations: Korean, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Portuguese (Brazil), Thai, Turkish
Machine translations: Ukrainian and Italian.

New Animations: Cheers, Dance 1, Dance (Caramelldansen), Dance (Helltaker), Dance (Low Cortisol), Eat (Donut), Eat (Popcorn), Eat (Watermelon), Game, Greeting 1, Greeting 2, Sparkling 2, Think (Confident), and Think (Serious). For more details, please visit: https://emotelab.app/assets/CoffeeBean/animations/
New Parts: New parts include Facial Hair B, Cheek, Face Feature A >>, Face Feature A <<, Face Feature B >>, Face Feature B <<, Face Feature C, Nose, Earring >>, Earring <<, Piercing A >>, Piercing A <<, Piercing B >>, Piercing B <<, Hand, Leg, Cape Back, and Cape Front. Face Feature A includes symmetrical moles and freckles. Face Feature B includes symmetrical facial markings. Face Feature C includes markings around the mouth area and full-face custom designs. Hands now include fingerless gloves. Legs now support custom images. For all current available parts, please visit: https://emotelab.app/assets/CoffeeBean/parts-list/
Slider: Length adjustment for short hair (Hair Side)
Hands (Behaviour Change): Hands can now be colored independently for the character with gloves. If you changed the skin colour of the character before, you may want to reapply the colour to the hands.
Ears (Behaviour Change): Ear 1 now includes both the previous Ear 1 (human-style short pointed ears) and Ear 2 (mid- to long-pointed ears). Ear length can be adjusted using the Ear Shape 1 slider. This change was made to support the new earrings and ear piercing options.
Face Painting: Face Feature C Custom is the customizable section used for drawing face paint designs. Please note that artwork placed around the mouth area will not move with mouth animations. This is a limitation of the style. Because the character uses a chibi art style with exaggerated eyes and mouth proportions, it is not possible to create a continuous mesh that can deform properly with both the eyes and mouth at the same time.
This update added new languages.
Community translations: German, Spanish, Japanese
Machine translations: Hungarian, Korean, Russian, French, Chinese (Traditional)

Updated model with new parts and animations added.
Small bug fixes.
This update brings improvements to editing, exporting, and the UI. New parts and animations are also added to the CoffeeBean model.
Undo/redo: Undo and redo support for editor actions. Note that this does not apply to custom textures, as the atlas PNGs need to be edited in external tools.
Color palette: Added a color palette to the color picker. You can now save and persist selected colors. Click the + button to add the current color to the palette, and right-click a swatch to remove a saved color.
Custom texture interface: Updated the custom texture UI. Custom texture options and utilities are now located in the Texture tab (between the Color tab and the Player tab).
Fix outline (alpha bleed): Option to apply alpha bleed on atlas PNGs. This fixes the white/black outline issue when editing textures with certain external programs.
Reset atlas: Added the ability to reset the atlas to its default state.
Enhanced Octree palette option for GIF export.
Updated model with new parts and animations added.
Small bug fixes.
This update introduces new export options, animation playback improvements, and updates to the CoffeeBean model.
Added static PNG export.
Added animated APNG export.
GIF encoder: added option to use a global color table. Use this option to fix flashing colors.
Export workflow: export controls are now located in the Export tab, next to the parts and colors tabs.
Added playback controls: play, pause, next, previous, first, last buttons, and adjustable playback speed.
Recording now begins at the current frame when the animation is paused, and from the first frame when it is playing.
Added eyedropper tool to pick colors directly from the screen.
Updated model with new parts added.
In the model list, a version number indicates a historical version, while models without a version number are the newest.
Saved characters will transition to the new model seamlessly.
Atlas pages can be ported by saving a character under the old model (CoffeeBean_V1_0) and then loading the saved character under the new model, allowing EmoteLab to regenerate the atlas pages.
It is recommended to save edited textures by saving a character with the "Use Custom Texture" option enabled, rather than saving the atlas page directly. For more information, please refer to this page.
Texture packing when overwriting characters: Resolved an issue where using custom textures and overwriting an existing character could cause texture packing behave incorrectly.
⚠️If you encountered this issue, please save your character as a new character (with a different name) after the update and delete the old one.
Log display privacy: File paths are no longer shown in the in-app log area (editor tab status bar). Paths that may contain usernames or other sensitive locations are replaced with a placeholder. Full paths are still written to log files in the Logs folder for debugging.
Credits / Info tab: Added an “Open log folder” button so you can open the application log folder directly from the Credits tab.
EULA: The End User License Agreement has been updated to allow community-created mods. See the full EULA for details.
