Defeat the chicken is one of the missions you will face in the lost world. it will be available in the next update.
There are a lot changed in the new update, it is 1 GB heavier than the previous versions and there is a good reason for that. We are now using the chaos engine to calculate the destruction and that changed everything instead of the custom system I had created myself. There is a video attached below that shows the early work in progress of the new system. Please note that the demo is still not updated and I will fix the demo next week.
Another big change is the rendering. We used to have ray tracing which messed up the performance on older gpus or steam deck. it is gone now. We use a pretty low cost screen space distance field to simulate global illumnation instead of ray tracing which is significantly cheaper. We then use the frame rate we won to calculate the newly added destruction engine. in my last tests on an old laptop with a 3060 RTX on ultra graphics settings, the game runs at around 70 fps with dips to 50 fps in very heavy scenes during the stress test.

I am working on a new destruction engine for the game to include in the upcoming update. it will drastically improve the destruction and performance.
There are a few points I needed to talk about about this topic. I shared them in a video you can watch here.
I added Rocket launcher to destroy everything all at once or make huge explosions to kill the enemies easily. You need to buy it in the lost world or survival mode. Update your game and have fun
Hello everyone! I’ve been hard at work expanding the game, and today’s update brings a massive new challenge along with some much-needed firepower and several key bug fixes.
This is by far the most intense part of the game yet. I’ve designed Survival Mode to be an unforgiving experience where you face relentless waves of enemies.
High Stakes: If you die, it’s game over. You'll need to stay sharp to survive.
Earn & Arm: Use the credits you gain during the match to buy weapons and even the odds.
New Atmosphere: I’ve added an exclusive music album specifically for this mode to enhance the tension.
A classic addition to the arsenal. You now have the precision to vaporize enemies from a distance.
Adjustable Zoom: You can now change your scope zoom to fit your playstyle.
Tactical Advantage: This adds a whole new layer to how you can approach engagements.
Gameplay & Balance
Spawning Logic: Fixed a frustrating issue where Ploy and Yuki could spawn too close to you. This was unfair and could instantly end a run, so I’ve adjusted the distances to protect your progress.
Objective Radius: I’ve reduced the activation radius for objectives in the Lost World so you aren't forced into objectives you aren't ready for.
New Player Hints: Added extra hints for each game mode in the Main Menu to help you understand the mechanics before you jump in.
Bug Fixes & Visuals
Animation Cleanup: Fixed a bug where Yuki was trying to punch using another character's animation (it looked a bit strange, but it's gone now!).
Map Polishing: Fixed missing materials on various static meshes throughout the Lost World map.
Survival Logic: Fixed a bug where waves would keep spawning even after the player had died.
I’m constantly looking at your feedback to make the experience better. If you run into any issues with the new Survival mode or the Sniper Rifle, please let me know in the discussion forums!
This update is kind of a hot fix for those problems that might make people uncomfortable and need immediate attention.
Steam deck resolution problem fixed, Steam deck players can now change the resolution in graphics settings.
Instant destruction UI was getting cut in Turkish language and is now fixed.
Some people complained about the fish eye lens making them uncomfortable so I added a slider to reduce the amount or completely get ride of body cam effect if you don't like it. It is called Body cam effect in settings menu.
Some users had problems with sound effects being too loud, You now have the option to change SFX volume separately as you can change the music and dialogues volume. you can personalize your experience better this way.
I wish you all a great day playing the game.
After a long and incredible journey, I am thrilled to announce that the game is finally live! While we are launching in Early Access, my goal from day one has been to provide the most polished, bug-free experience possible with the tools at my disposal.
The game is already packed with content for you to dive into:
The Complete Story: Experience the full narrative in its most refined state.
Instant Destruction Mode: A creative sandbox where you can spawn various enemy types into your favorite levels.
Lost World Mode: An open-world map filled with objectives and events. Earn credits by defeating enemies to unlock powerful new weaponry.
Early Access is just the beginning. I am committed to expanding this world significantly:
More Firepower: At least 10 new guns are coming to Lost World, which can be unlocked and used throughout the entire game.
New Game Modes: I am developing three additional modes, each unique enough to be its own game. I'll share more details soon, but expect the first new mode to drop next month.
Epic Boss Fights: More bosses are being added across all modes to keep the challenge fresh and diverse.
My ultimate goal is to provide an insane amount of high-quality content for this price range. To get there, I need your help!
If you encounter any bugs or "weird" behavior, please report them to me. I will be working around the clock to fix issues as they arise. Together, we can make this the smoothest and most fun experience possible.
Is this game made by a solo developer?
Yes, I am Morteza Ahmadi, the solo developer of Edge of destruction. I have been an Unreal engine developer and Technical Artist for 10 years with a lot of games released (Both indie games and AA games)
This game is my dream finally coming true, full environment destruction with cinematic and emotional story telling with a lot of fun and side activities to explore.
What engine is used to Create this game?
The game is being developed with Unreal engine 5.5
What is the game's genre?
This is a First person shooter with full scale destruction and horror elements. The game can be really stressful at times and keep you on your toes for long periods of time.
Will the game be Single player only?
Yes, the game is single player only.
What are the game modes inside the game that I can explore?
The main mode is the story that takes around 1-1.5 hour to beat.
There is a mode called Destroy everything that is a classic mode almost like team death match where you set the enemies and how many you want, the friends to protect you, and you even have the option to add the bosses you face in the game for as many as you want. There is no limitation here. You can then choose any map from the story mode to play.
There is a mode called the lost world, The main goal here is to earn credit and buy weapons with it. There are different objectives and different ways to earn money. As always you can earn money with destroying buildings as well. You will face new boss fights here too. This is an open world level with a lot to explore. My goal is to add as much detail as possible to this level even after release. If you have any ideas on how to make this even more fun you are more than welcome to comment them here.
There are two other modes I have in mind to add after early access release and finish them for the full release. One is Giant destruction where you control a giant and destroy everything in the open world map, and the other is the miniature world like the classic Counter strike games and fight with enemies of your choice. You can destroy anything you see in this miniature world as well.
How many different weapons are there in the game?
You have the main gun when you start the game and you can find another 3 guns in the story mode. If you do not want to play the story mode that is fine too, you can buy them in the lost world. There will be another two in the lost world for early access release. I plan to add a lot of different guns, Realistic and cartoony guns, Rocket launchers or drones or a gun that shoots toys. There are a lot to come.
They also feel a lot different than eachother and you will find yourself constantly changing guns depending the situation and the enemies you face.
Can the game run on Potato Computers?
Optimizing the game has always been my ultimate goal in this game. Whatever I do, I do it thinking how it can affect the performance. You can run ray tracing on a GTX 1050 and get 30 FPS. To play the game on FIRE graphics preset and get 60 FPS you will need a RTX 2070 or RTX 3060. You can get the most out of this game with a medium end GPU.
Which languages does the game support?
I translated the dialogues and UI to: Simplified chinese, Turkish, Spanish, Russian, Brazil Portoguese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Farsi.
The game has full English and Turkish and Farsi Audio support too, meaning the characters will speak in those languages.
