Prepare yourself for an intense and emotionally charged journey with the latest release update for Dying Light: The Beast! This release introduces the high-strung Restored Land experience alongside a series of exciting game enhancements, designed to test your resilience and strategy. Restored Land is a brand new game experience that changes the rules of survival in Castor Woods!
Restored Land - survival like never before
Explore an exhilarating new experience with Restored Land - revolution of survival in Castor Woods. Available through a dedicated section in the main menu, this solo-only experience offers gameplay on Survivor or Brutal difficulty levels. You’ll navigate a persistent world where enemies remain defeated and loot can only be collected once, highlighting the heightened tension of every heart-pounding decision.
In Restored Land, open-world activities such as Convoys, Dark Zones, and Hives can be completed only once. To keep a clear track of your progress you can use special map markers. The Regions Threat Levels on the map empower you to strategize in reclaiming areas, clearing them of enemies and paving the way for remaining survivors so they can start revitalizing the region. Survival mechanics like hunger and flashlight management add an extra layer of challenge, while inventory limits require you to gather funds for specialized backpack upgrades from in-game vendors.
Manage the nighttime difficulty by clearing Hives to reduce numbers of the roaming Volatiles, but be careful as the Alpha Volatile will still hunt you during the nights. To help you a little with your task, we hid two items that might just bring you back from the brink. If you want the ultimate challenge, you can intensify your Restored Land experience with One Life Mode, where each death resets your journey! Check leaderboards to measure your survival days in Restored Land and unlock seven new achievements as you progress. Engage in dynamic and refined battles against special infected, and uncover over 30 new random quest encounters with enhanced rewards - and that’s also available in the regular game mode!
Completing Restored Land rewards players with an exceptional outfit accessible across all save files. Those who conquer Restored Land with the One Life challenge are granted an additional outfit, receive special recognition in co-op play, and uncover unique surprises within Town Hall. Numerous gameplay and performance improvements ensure this immersive experience tests your skills in the relentless world of Restored Land. Dive in and navigate the ultimate challenge, where the world itself becomes a visceral reflection of danger and desperation. Are you ready to emerge victorious?
Roadkill Rallies
Update 1.6 expands the action with the introduction of Roadkill Rallies - five new racing challenges, offering time-based missions that test your skills in eliminating infected and perfecting your driving routes. To win gold in each race, you must kill a specific number of infected and reach the finish line within the time limit. Each track has its own theme; some feature threats like Suiciders, but in all of them, finding the optimal route is key to winning gold. The challenges introduce a new car model, the Roadkiller - a tougher vehicle that you can unlock by earning gold in every race in this series. Did we mention you can compete against each other?
New feature - Leaderboards
Track your performance in both Restored Land mode and the new Roadkill Rallies, and see how you stack up against others:
Friends Leaderboards - Players can track their performance in both Restored Land mode and Roadkill Rallies, and compare their results with friends.
Global Leaderboards (Consoles Only) - Additionally, on consoles we also introduce global leaderboards for both Restored Land mode and Roadkill Rallies. We decided to implement them only on consoles to help ensure fair competition, as the current client-only PC implementation does not allow global rankings to be fully protected from potential exploits.
Gameplay Tweaks and new finishers
With resources drastically limited, players experience solitude as they navigate shops with reduced stocks at higher prices. XP is increased to counterbalance the rare enemy encounters, while player levels cap at 15. Hunger must be managed, and flashlight batteries replaced, to avoid succumbing to exhaustion and darkness, where the fear of making one wrong move heightens anxiety. Moreover we’ve added 5 new brutal Fury finishers for special infected:
Banshee
Charger
Demolisher
Goon
Volatile
UI Enhancements
Enhancements come with a fresh perspective: explore a specialized entry in the main menu, thematic loading screens, and updated death and completion screens that match the emotional intensity of your journey. An improved HUD, accompanied by personal map markers, offers valuable assistance in exploration and resource gathering - tools for those facing solitude and danger head-on. Additionally we've added a ping system for co-op play that allows players to quickly mark locations and improve communication during shared gameplay.
Game Updates
Along with the event, Update 1.6 introduced many fixes and game improvements. You can find the full list of changes HERE: https://dyinglightgame.com/news/restored-land-release-notes-16There’s no better way to cross Castor Woods than by swinging through the air! This week’s challenge invites you to travel as far as possible using your grappling hook. Gliding over this gorgeous valley beats holiday stress any day - someone tell Santa to upgrade from a sleigh. Don’t forget: completing all goals this week helps the entire Beast Pack unlock every reward. And since it’s the season of giving, lend a hand to any Beasts who missed a week so they can claim theirs too. Community Challenge: Hooked on Speed
Goal #1: Cover 45,000,000 km with the grappling hook
Reward: Seraphantom Car Skin Goal #2: Cover 105,000,000 km with the grappling hook
Reward: Angel’s Blade Call of the Beast Week 10 runs from Thursday, December 18 at 4PM CET until Thursday, December 29 at 4PM CET. As always, the rewards will be sent to your in-game stash at the end of the challenge. Also, to know how close the community is to victory and your rewards, head to Dying Light Outpost to see the progression. Hook your way to some unique and exclusive items!
Nightmare Experience is a new difficulty level for Dying Light: The Beast - designed for seasoned players looking for serious survival experience. It makes Human and Infected enemies stronger, smarter, more aggressive, reacting faster to your actions using their heightened senses. Some Dark Zones may now include Volatiles during the day and gameplay becomes more challenging as resources are limited and they need to be managed more carefully.
This update also introduces a new Alpha Volatile. This is the most powerful infected in Castor Woods, and the most intelligent Volatile in the history of Dying Light. It tracks your scent, ignores the UV light from your flashlight, and can hunt and follow you across the map until you reach a safe zone or manage to kill it. He’s smart and dangerous, enforcing a careful and strategic playstyle during the night.
On top of that Nightmare Experience brings new survival mechanics. The Hunger System affects your stamina, health regeneration, and combat efficiency. The longer you ignore hunger, the stronger the penalties become. Additionally the flashlight drains over time and will dim and flicker as the battery gets low, requiring you to craft or find replacements.
Completing the hardest challenges in this difficulty rewards you with exclusive items, including unique charms, and a special outfit, and a new vehicle skin.
Darkness is creeping in earlier each day and that means more danger… and more opportunity. It’s prime time for this week’s challenge: looting the night for anything useful! Community Challenge: Night Looter Goal #1: Loot 15 000 000 items at night
Reward: Scorpion K.O. Car Skin

Call of the Beast Week 9 runs from Thursday, December 11 at 4PM CEST until Thursday, December 18 at 4PM CET. As always, the rewards will be sent to your in-game stash at the end of the challenge. Also, to know how close the community is to victory and your rewards, head to Dying Light Outpost to see the progression. So, hide under the cover of darkness and loot all you can!

There has never been a better time to jump back in - or begin your journey in Castor Woods!
With Update 1.4 just released, there’s never been a better time to jump into Dying Light: The Beast! New Game+, Legend Levels, a Double XP event, and an exclusive weapon waiting in your stash should already convince you to dive back in. So don’t wait - team up with the Dying Light community to tackle this week’s challenge, focused entirely on executing brutal finishers on enemies. And while you're at it, make sure to try out the new finishers added to the game!
Community Challenge: Executioner
Goal #1: Execute 1,000,000 finishers
Reward: Gutsbuster Car Skin
Goal #2: Execute 2,500,000 finishers
Reward: Rascal
Call of the Beast Week 7 runs from Thursday, November 27 at 4PM CEST until Thursday, December 4 at 4PM CET.
As always, rewards will be distributed to your in-game stash at the end of the challenge. To track the community’s progress and see how close you are to earning them, head to Dying Light Outpost.
NEW GAME+
You can now replay Kyle’s story in New Game+ while keeping all gear, weapons and character progression from your first playthrough. Enemy difficulty is increased, but you’ll also encounter higher-tier weapons and loot to match the challenge. New Game+ can be repeated multiple times - each completed run further raises the game’s difficulty level and unlocks access to even stronger and rarer weapons, as well as the toughest enemies in Castor Woods.
LEGEND LEVELS
Legend Levels is the classic Dying Light end-game progression system that extends your character beyond the main skill tree.
Once you reach Level 15, all earned XP is converted into Legend XP. Higher difficulty settings and higher New Game+ tiers increase XP gains, so the more you challenge yourself, the faster you progress.
Each Legend Level grants Legend Points that you can spend on passive upgrades such as increased health, improved combat stats and stronger Beast Mode performance. Every level also raises your maximum health by a fixed percentage, helping you stay competitive in higher NG+ tiers.
Legend Levels also introduce a large set of new rewards to unlock: 22 new weapons (melee and firearms, including vintage guns), 2 complete outfits (12 gear pieces) and new legendary vehicle skins.
RAY TRACING
Ray tracing is now available, bringing even more realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections to the game, allowing you to experience our immersive and visually stunning world with enhanced atmosphere and depth.
How to enable ray tracing?
The suggested way to activate Ray Tracing is to set the Video Quality Preset in your game settings to Ultra.
If you need more tweaking you can also enable or disable individual Ray Tracing options in the Advanced Video Settings menu to balance performance and visual quality.
System requirements:
A Ray Tracing capable graphics card (NVIDIA RTX, AMD RX 6000/7000 series, or Intel Arc)
At least 8 GB of video memory
16 GB recommended for 4k
Performance and Visuals
The game is designed so that all settings - from Low to Ultra - preserve the same core look and artistic style.
Ray Tracing improves reflections, lighting, and shadows, delivering more realistic visuals, though please note this may impact performance
If your system has trouble maintaining smooth performance, try selecting a preset below Ultra and tweak individual Ray Tracing settings for optimal results.
Please note when Ultra mode is enabled, Frame Generation is automatically turned on to improve frame rate.
VRR, V-Sync, and Input Latency
For best results, use a VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) display with a refresh rate of 60 Hz or higher. VRR may be labeled as FreeSync, G-Sync, or Adaptive Sync depending on your monitor.
If VRR is detected, the game automatically disables V-Sync to ensure the lowest input latency and smooth frame delivery.
If VRR is supported by your setup but disabled, please try to enable it in your system, driver settings or display settings. If VRR is not working still, please enable V-Sync manually in the game menu (Intel and AMD cards) or try enforcing it in the driver (Nvidia) to prevent screen tearing (if observed)
Note: Using Frame Generation may increase input lag, especially if V-Sync is on.
If controls feel delayed:
Enable VRR and disable V-Sync
Ensure Latency Reduction is enabled
If lag persists, disable Frame Generation or switch to a preset below Ultra
NEW FINISHERS
We’ve added 3 new finishers to give you even more varieties of bloody execution on enemies.
1 for one-handed blunt weapons
1 for two-handed blunt weapons
1 for two-handed slasher weapons
