Just addressing a niche bug that could cause online games in unusual circumstances. Alongside of this are some more online stability changes, so to resume in-progress online games make sure everyone is on the latest build.
The online has come a pretty tremendous way since launch, but fixes like this are still thanks to player reports and log files. Thanks to everyone still sending me errors and bug reports!
Fixed a bug causing online games to disconnect if multiple players all with thorns died simultaneously to an attacking enemy.
Optimizations to how online processes combats to make it more efficient and less likely to crash in the future.
When preparing the game for Steam Deck, I made some font size adjustments to English fonts. These made it easier to read the game on Deck - but there are edge cases where you can get text overruns.
This patch is a micropatch that fixes the overruns that I'm aware of:
Player names in the stats cards and the Level Up panes are slightly shrunk
Flavor text is slightly shrunk and moved down a little to avoid overruns
The settings window applies a blur effect making it a little less visually cluttered while opened
Valve recently tested Doomsday for Steam Deck compatibility!
I made a few changes to the default branch in order to make it play a bit easier on Steam Deck. The game was originally tested on the console- but newer updates like the Compendium weren't checked and the text could be small and hard to read.
The text size is now a fair bit bigger for features where it was previously very small. I did some light testing on this- but it's possible there were some unintended results so if you see a bit of formatting junk then shoot me a message.
Steam Deck compatibility will still show "Playable" because we're just under the requested guidelines- but you won't see anything that's an eye strain to read anymore.
Fixed a typo in the feet loving ghost event.
Text sizes on the Collections menu, Achievement Tabs, button hints, and the Unlocks menu has been bumped up for easier reading on Steam Deck.
If the game is launched on Steam Deck and no prior save file exists, the resolution will automatically switch to Steam Deck's native resolution. If a save file does exist, the resolution won't change.
I recently created a Steam Developer Page. You can follow me there to be notified when new games come out, or just to stare at the cover art for Doomsday and let the time drift around you. Last month I started recruiting voice actors to join my voice roster for an upcoming project. You can find the posts on BlueSky or X- and if you're interested in submitting but didn't see it, feel free to contact me there or on the game's Discord server to submit an audition. Once I've got something a little more substantial to share, I'll be polling the community for feedback and playtesting- so if you're interested in that kind of thing then consider joining the game's Discord server. There wont' be any movement for a few months, but I'll start dropping some sneak peaks in a few months when things have progressed a bit farther.
