Join in with JazzyBoi & Heckmouse as we dive deep into the many interesting additions to DOG WITCH's 2nd major update!
DOG WITCH's 2nd major update has arrived! And with it comes a bloodthirsty twist to its gameplay: actual deckbuilding.
"But isn't DOG WITCH already a deckbuilder?", you may ask. A dice unfortunately only has 6 sides, so it'd be silly to try and include more equipment to roll. So, the VAMPIRE HAT introduces true deckbuilding where you’ll be able to manipulate the amount of spells, books, bones, summons, wands, and stuns in your draw pool as your dice are turned into cards.
Not only does this put the great DOG WITCH into a cool b(r)atty outfit, but it also introduces some more vampiric abilities like 🦇Batform, letting you transform into an untargetable bat until the end of the round. Or ✨Glamour, a powerful shine of style that reduces all enemy resist to 0. Which is a handy ability when you use the default vampiric ability 🩸Suck Blood, which steals half of the target creature's HP, which also makes it target you with just as much strength!
Only the best vampires are able to use this ability well, so anyone who completes a vampiric run will be shown on the OFFICIAL LEADERBOARDS on Steam, based on your DOG WITCH's final health. Show your friends how bloodthirsty you are with this update!
The update is also releasing during Steam's Deckbuilder fest, so if you haven't already, you can grab DOG WITCH at 35% off!
DOG WITCH's second major update is releasing on the 4th of May! And its new VAMPIRE HAT has turned it bloodthirsty, and it's eating all your dice! Or should we say... your cards?
In our next major update, you’ll be able to manipulate the odds of your run with the new Vampire Hat. It puts your favourite doggo into a gothic new outfit and transforms all your dice into cards! With this flattening of spells, you’ll be able to remove and add cards from your deck in between rounds, allowing you to increase the odds of more useful hands for your game-breaking builds
Additionally, we’ve added some crazy vampiric cards like “Suck Blood”, which steals half of the target creature’s HP, and gives it that much strength. It then also immediately targets you, so you better prepare to stun your target as soon as possible!
"Why farm all that health", you may ask? With the vampire hat, you don't have any mana, but spend your own canine blood to fuel spells whenever you use them. In a pinch and need a scapegoat? Use the vampiric spell THRALL to turn one of your minions into a bulky blood bag to use for the most costly of spells.
The update is also releasing during Steam's Deckbuilder Fest, so if you haven't already, you can grab DOG WITCH at a discounted price!
Announcing a new bundle to complete your canine game collections with, the Doggolike Deckbuilders bundle!
Dogpile and DOG WITCH are both roguelike deckbuilders with many good magical doggos bringing a lovely charm to the roguelike genre. And now you can get these two games with an extra 10% discount!
If you already own one, you'll be able to pick up the other at a lower price.
Fill up your screen with merging pups in a dog park that suspiciously looks like DOG WITCH's starting area... Perhaps the Dog Witch is an ascended pile of dogs?
DOG WITCH is off 25% during the Steam Spring Sale! Get it now with many different bundles to choose from, or gift it to your friend!

BARK, HOWL, REJOICE! DOG WITCH's first free major content update is out of the spooky testing branch!
This update includes a hat like no other, the WEREWOLF HAT, which turns our magical canine friend into a fierce beast.
At first, the hat is just a nice brown accessory. But, if you roll a three-of-a-kind, all your dice get turned into strong werewolf abilities that will help you on your quest to defeat the Mad Master Wizard. Your wand charge is turned into FEROCITY, which you charge up by howling. You can use this ferocity to leech health with the move BITE. Or, with a full bar of ferocity, you can unleash the werewolf's great power into a devastating Pounce.
Your regular, non-werewolf gameplay still stays the same. But picking items now upgrades the werewolf's abilities throughout the run, which can help turn the tide of battles...
Of course, this great power invites new challenges. During your runs you'll find a new enemy on your route:
Introducing... the Carrot Girl. A new elite enemy at the end of the third zone. Why is she farming carrots in these dangerous mountains? No one will know. But she has the strength and swagger to prove her elite status. You'll find her carrots to be stronger versions of the big bad tree's vines. Maybe they're lining up nicely for a strong werewolf stun attack? Or perhaps that's exactly what she wants you to do...
And of course, as promised, the end-run screen. It shows various stats like your total run time, average damage done, and how much mana you've wasted by not using your spells. We've also added a perfect run counter so you can finally show off your true no-DMG runs. How many summons did you sacrifice for that score, eh?
To all those who were on the Spooky Testing Branch, thank you for reporting bugs and testing this feisty hat. We won't leave the branch dormant though. We're working hard on the next major update to deliver the VAMPIRE HAT, so stay tuned!
Have fun slashing, dashing, and howling at your enemies in this new update!
Added a new end game screen with run stats
Added the Werewolf hat
Added a new zone 3 elite: Carrot Girl
Added a new potion: Moo milk
Changed the Corrupted Prism Ring: duplicates can go three-of-a-kind or higher
Changed the Spiders: Spiders no longer stack to upgrade; balance changes for Spiders/Poison Spiders/Candy Necklace
Fixes: Mana Battery keeps mana during spell upgrades/corruption, Corrupted Bag Of Tricks no longer casts arrows, Gummy hat + Quick Restart fix, and various other bugs
We’re moving DOG WITCH Major Content Update #1, including the Werewolf Hat, to early March.
As mentioned in our previous update, the Werewolf Hat has introduced a significant amount of new variables that change up the game entirely, and a hex (sickness) has been slowing our development down. As excited as we are to show you this new addition to DOG WITCH's formula, we need a bit more time to stablise this crazy spell. We apologise for the delay, and thank you again for your patience.
It's not all bad news in the coven, though! We have also been using the additional time to work on a new elite enemy that appears in the third zone of the game... The Carrot Girl. A mean botanist ready to whip you off your feet with her nutritious minions.
Also, the end-run screen is stable and ready to make you go "ooh number go up"!
If you really can’t wait, much of the new content is already available on the Spooky Bug Testing branch on Steam (password is veryCoolBugs). You can opt in, try things early, and we’re very grateful for any feedback you share that way.
Thank you for the patience and for being part of this strange little journey. We can't wait to share this update with you all.
Hi Coven! We wanted to let you all know that we’re moving DOG WITCH Major Content Update #1, including the Werewolf Hat, from December to January.
The main reason is the Werewolf Hat itself. It doesn’t just add a new option, it changes how you think about a run. Dice timing, decision making, and risk all start to work differently.
It’s less “one more hat” and more a unique, sideways version of DOG WITCH. Familiar pieces, new ways to play them. A bit like turning the board into 4D chess.
Because of that, it needs more testing than our usual updates. There are more edge cases, more weird interactions, and more moments where we want to be sure the game explains itself through play, not surprises.
Alongside this, we’re also working on a new end of run stat screen, so you can finally see what actually happened during your run and how your choices played out over time. That’s still being tuned and we want it to feel clear and useful when it lands. Check it out! It's a WIP, so not the final version by far, but this what we're working on right now!
Nothing is changing about what’s included in the update. We just want to give these systems the time they need before we set them loose.
If you really can’t wait, much of the new content is already available on the spookybugtesting branch on Steam. You can opt in, try things early, and we’re very grateful for any feedback you share that way.
Thank you for the patience and for being part of this strange little journey. We’ll have more to show as January gets closer.
Something we’ve been excited to finally share!
Ladies and gents, we’re happy to announce that the DOG WITCH Original Soundtrack is finally out
As promised, we’re giving it away to our Discord members. If you haven’t jumped in yet, this is the right moment to join our coven -> https://discord.gg/VUCuJQ2nt2
Wanna play the lone wolf and not join the pack? No problem! You can still get it at 20% here on Steam!
Last but not least, from December 18 until January 5th, DOG WITCH will be 20% off as part of the Steam Winter Sale. If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to jump in, or you know someone who’s been hovering over the cauldron, this is a very good time.
Thank you all for sticking with us! You continue to make this adventure a joy!
Our second bundle today is something we are really happy about!!!
Dicefolk is a fantastic game with incredible depth, and teaming up with them for this Limited Time Steam bundle feels perfect!
The Dicefolk x DOG WITCH bundle includes an extra 10 percent discount over buying the two games individually. And if you already own one, Steam still lets you buy the bundle so you can pick up the other at a lower price.
If you enjoy creature driven strategies, smart decision making, and runs that never play out the same way twice, this is a great pairing.
These bundles are Limited Time, so grab them while they are available!
Thank you for supporting DOG WITCH and helping our weird little world grow.
We are very excited about this one because we genuinely love Monster Train, It is one of those games you can sink into for hours.
Today we get to share a Limited Time Steam bundle that brings Monster Train and DOG WITCH together with an extra 10 percent discount compared to buying both separately! Woah!!!
Steam also lets you grab the bundle even if you already own one of the games, so you can still pick it up and get the other game at a reduced price!
If you enjoy building wild runs, experimenting with different builds, and discovering new strategies every time you play, this bundle fits right in.
Available now for a Limited Time.
You can now officially take your wild builds, silly hats, and barking pups absolutely anywhere you want.
This means potion chugging on the couch. Gremlon hunting on the train. Barking at your game in public like a perfectly normal witch.
Thank you for all your support, energy, and feedback along the way. The coven grows stronger and sillier every day because of you.
If you want to join the community, hop into the Discord and share your portable runs, Steam Deck screenshots, and whatever nonsense you conjure. We would love to have you.
And while you're here, we would love your support in the Steam Awards. Please consider nominating DOG WITCH for Best Soundtrack, Sit Back and Relax Award and Best Game You Suck At.
Every vote helps our magic spread.

Go forth and brew trouble everywhere.
Hello coven. The spooky bugs have been banished, the cauldron is calm again, and we finally get to release the thing we were excited about in the first place. Say hello to DOG WITCH’s newest little menace:
The Demon Puppy
The Demon Puppy Hat is for players who want a bit more room to explore strange builds and experiment with weird ideas. Demon Puppy hands out potions after every battle which lets you push deeper into runs that would normally fizzle out. The game is still challenging, it just gives you a few more tools to twist, tinker, and experiment with your builds.
Here is the full changelog for today’s update:
Demon Puppy Hat gives potions after every battle.
Quick Replay button starts the run fast and skips menus.
Retry Combat now skips menus to get you back into the start of the current battle, fast. Added “Hold r” to quick restart run. Keyboard only for now.
Better handling of Achievements when Steam connection is lost. Fixed some unachievable Achievements.
Big Bone now simply gives all allies +2 shield. Corrupted gives +3.
Romance Novel buffed. It only heals enemies for 1 instead of 7.
Your last played hat now loads automatically after you abandon, die, or win a run.
Fixed petting getting permanently stuck if you swapped parts mid pet.
Fixed corrupted prism ring interactions and a whole pile of additional tiny bugs.
Thank you for all your patience and support through this very theatrical patch cycle. You make this whole adventure so much fun.
Now go, defeat the undefeatable, achieve the unachievable. See what we did there?
If you want to join the chaos up close, hop into our Discord and help us shape the next batch of whatever those potions are made of.
Hello coven. So. We made a whoopsie.
Yesterday we pushed a shiny new build because we got a little too excited. We wanted to hand you more stuff as fast as possible and the universe rewarded our enthusiasm with bugs. Many bugs. So many that they formed a polite but rackety parade through the game.
We reverted everything back to build v1.0.3 a little while ago so the main version is stable again.
Now we are doing this the proper way.
Introducing our final testing zone before full graduation: The Spooky Bugs Beta Branch
This branch is for players who want to live on the edge, stare chaos in the eyes, and say yes please. It will stay up forever so brave souls can hop in whenever they want and help squash bugs with us.
To join the spookybugtesting Top Secret Bug Testing branch, go to Properties -> Betas
Password: veryCoolBugs
Anyone who joins from Steam should hop into the Discord and share their findings so we can smash these spooky bugs together as one confused and determined coven.
Thank you for being the best. We promise the bugs will not win. Probably.
Released November 15, 2025
The coven has been poking buttons, petting dogs, drinking potions, and accidentally summoning bugs, so we cleaned things up. Here is what changed.
✨ The QUICK REPLAY button now blasts you straight into a new run and skips menus.
🔁 Retry also skips menus so you get yeeted back into the action faster.
📺 End game screens now always let you peek at your loadout.
🍵 Added a Potions Checkbox. A tiny sip after every fight if you want it. A treat. No trophies.
🐶 DEMON PUPPY HAT joins the coven as an easy mode reward after your first death. RNG is softened. Not silenced.
🦴 Big Bone now gives all allies +2 shield. Corrupted gives +3.
❤️ Romance Novel buffed. Enemies only heal for 1 instead of 7.
📜 Better handling of Achievements when connection to Steam is lost. Fixed some unachievable Achievements.
🤠 Your last worn hat now loads when you abandon or die or win. Fashion persists.
✋ Fixed petting breaking forever if you swapped parts mid pet. Pet in peace.
🐞 Fixed the corrupted prism ring plus barking plus corrupted unicorn wand combo not guaranteeing duplicates and many other odd little gremlins.
The cauldron is bubbling happily. Go cause trouble.

We are so grateful for everything the community has done to help us get here. It's been a long road to now. All the laser ponies, the gubbins, the gun-toting matrioska, the senior dogs we helped. You’ve shared chaos, laughs, a few pictures of your pets. You've been with us throughout all this and these memories we'll cherish forever.
Last, but not least - to show our appreciation for everything you've done for us, everyone in our Discord gets the soundtrack for free when it'll be released, so come hang out with us!
Show us your chaos. Laugh. Cry. Share. Repeat.
Hey witches 🐾 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
We are only 5 days away from releasing DOG WITCH into the world and it feels unreeeeeal.
Before the big day, we wanted to share a little glimpse at what comes next.
The DOG WITCH Post-Launch Roadmap is here, and it’s looking pretty spooky. You can check it out below.
Here’s what you’re seeing:
🕷️ Soon after launch, we are dropping a Spooky Patch to squash some, well, spooky bugs.
🎩December brings the first major update, with new customization options, unlockable WereDog and Vampire hats, rewards, and gameplay stats to track your runs.
🌕 January follows with the second major update, adding more customization options, new item sets, and a competitive touch for all you leaderboard chasers.
🐺 March brings the third major update, featuring a brand new world, new enemies and bosses, and even more surprises we are keeping under wraps for now.
Every update also adds more ways to make your DOG WITCH look as witchy and fashionable as possible.
You know what, here, have a peek at what we're working on
Thank you for sticking with us through this whole journey. We can’t wait for you to play DOG WITCH in just a few days, and to see where it goes next.
🐶✨ See you soon!
DOG WITCH is almost here and we can’t believe it’s real.
we’re celebrating launch with a live party on Wednesday, Nov 5th at 10AM Pacific / 6PM CET.
We’ll be streaming right here on Steam and hanging out with everyone on Discord too!!!
Expect some gameplay, special guests, uninvited guests, maybe dogs, and maybe a few emotional weird noises from the dev team.
Thank you for following DOG WITCH all this time. We can’t wait to share this moment with you. 💫
GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!
First off, TODAY MARKS A WEEK FROM RELEASE! WE'RE SOOOOOO EXCITED!!!
With that out of our system, let's get to the reason why we're here.
You’ve been asking about the soundtrack and we’ve been smiling about it for weeks. it means a lot that you love it as much as we do!
The full Dog Witch soundtrack will be available soon after launch. We’re giving it just a little more time to make sure it hits the way it should. Every track deserves that extra care, and Rugawd’s music deserves the spotlight!
Speaking of Rugawd - the album cover is in progress and it’s already something special.
Featuring our very own DOG WITCH, bass guitar in hand, striking a pose inspired by a photo of Rugawd himself. Turning a hooman into a DOG WITCH isn't an easy spell to pull off, but we think we're on the right track! Pun intended!
Thank you for listening, sharing, and vibing with the music. We can’t wait to release the full soundtrack so you can play it on loop, or summon your own chaos to it. 🐶✨
Stay tuned. It’s coming soon.
The wait is almost over!
After six years of work, DOG WITCH will release on November 5th!
This story begins in late 2019 when Heckmouse set out to capture the feeling of mastering a deep, punishing game like Magic: The Gathering and distill it into something fast, strange, and fun.
Early on, the game had exactly one tester: his mom’s retired husband, a chess and bridge player with no gaming background. His pure, unfiltered reactions shaped much of what DOG WITCH became.
From those early experiments, the game grew through countless hours of testing, refining, and listening to feedback. Over time, it became something bigger, stranger, and more heartfelt than we imagined. It is not a game that comes out of nowhere. It is the product of dedication, chaos, and care.
Through every step of this journey, our community has been part of the story. Since 2019 you have tested, shared ideas, cheered us on, and stayed with us through every strange twist. Thank you for making this possible.
DOG WITCH is not something you can sum up in a sentence. It is a deckbuilder, a strange adventure, and a game about chaos, bones, and unlikely victories.
If you want to help us bring DOG WITCH to as many people as possible, the best thing you can do right now is wishlist DOG WITCH on Steam.
That small click is a huge part of making this game a reality for more players. It’s how our community continues to shape this journey. And if you can, tell your friends, tell your family, tell your pets too - we know they can't wishlist but it'll still count.
Go out there and spread the word: November 5th - DOG WITCH is coming.
Hello coven,
We finally let the DOG WITCH OST out of its cage and onto YouTube. It loops forever, so you can use it while studying, working, cooking, or staring at your wall like a true strategist.
👉 Listen here:
We’re also cooking up a chat with Rugawd, the sorcerer of sounds behind the music. More news on that soon.
If you give it a listen, tell us how it feels outside the game. We are very normal about feedback and will not overanalyze every word you say.🐕✨
The DOG WITCH Team
Witches, dogs, and curious wanderers,
The Closed Beta has been an incredible ritual. Thanks to your reports, screenshots, and cursed discoveries, we hunted down many bugs, polished corrupted systems, and gave the hats some love. Every frog you complained about and every soft lock you bravely endured helped us make DOG WITCH stronger.
Now it is time to share those improvements with everyone. The fixes from the Beta are being pushed to the public demo, so the whole community can experience a smoother, spookier build.
