Doctor Viscera: Definitive Edition is now available on Steam, bringing a major free update packed with new content, gameplay improvements, and terrifying surprises for all existing owners of the game.
The biggest addition in the Definitive Edition is the Nurse, a brand-new stalker that roams the halls of GrimmHaus.
Unlike Doctor Viscera, she attacks from a distance using a firearm, forcing players to rethink their routes, hiding spots, and survival strategies. Under certain circumstances, players may even be able to disarm her and turn the tables.
Discover an entirely new section of GrimmHaus featuring the Tram System, which can be used both for exploration and as a desperate escape route when danger gets too close.
New drawer and cabinet interaction system
New player model
Improved level design
Reworked Library Puzzle
Immersive audio system
Controller support
Cemetery visual overhaul
Dynamic rain effects
8 new achievements
Performance optimizations and bug fixes
Thank you for supporting Doctor Viscera. The team at Liminal Road already has plans to further explore the GrimmHaus universe in the future, including a console release and new projects connected to the franchise.
We hope you enjoy your stay.
🩸 The GrimmHaus is accepting new patients.
Hey everyone! This is a small update focused on improving AI behavior and expanding language support.
We heavily improved the Doctor’s idle behavior system. Several bugs were fixed, including an issue where he would randomly stop his actions or animations for no reason. Idle sequences should now feel smoother, more natural, and more consistent.
Added full PT-PT translation covering menus, UI, subtitles, and in-game text.
Thanks for the continued support and feedback!
Hey everyone! Here’s a fresh update for Doctor Viscera. Thanks for playing, sending feedback, and helping us keep improving the game. Below is everything included in this patch.
We switched the entire project to baked lighting, resulting in noticeably smoother gameplay. Some of our playtesters reported up to a 60% FPS increase after this change.
Doctor Viscera is now running on Unreal Engine 5.7. This update improves AI behavior, increases overall stability, and includes several engine-level bugfixes.
The game now includes full Spanish support. Menu text, UI, subtitles, and gameplay text are all available in Spanish.
A new experimental cheat is now available. Type GHOST in the pause menu to enable a freecam mode that can still interact with the environment.
Notes:
Great for exploring hidden areas and watching the Doctor’s idle behaviors (like playing piano or reading in the library).
Thanks again for all the support and feedback. Have fun exploring the new update!
If you played the earlier demo, dive back in, your feedback shaped this build. If you haven’t yet, now’s the time to enter GrimmHaus and meet the Doctor for yourself.
Get ready to return to the hospital… and hope you make it out alive.
We're excited to release the biggest update yet for the Doctor Viscera demo! Thanks to your feedback, this patch brings major improvements to gameplay, AI behavior, and the overall atmosphere. Here's what's new:
MAJOR CHANGES
Improved Doctor AI
No more unfair eagle vision — detection is now more balanced and fair.
Better sound reaction
The Doctor now reacts more realistically to noises you make. Be quiet, or be hunted.
New item: Throw Bottle
Use this new throwable item to create sound and distract the Doctor in tense situations.
Improved chase system
It’s now easier to disengage and escape a chase — if you’re smart enough.
Voice acting added
The Doctor now speaks — and he definitely has things to say to his test subjects.
New alert animations
The Doctor now shows a more dynamic reaction when spotting you.
Enhanced chase music feedback
The soundtrack now responds better to chase moments.
New jump animations
The Doctor will now throw himself off high ledges in even more dramatic ways.
New Day System
You now have 5 days to escape. Getting caught no longer means instant game over. (But be warned — things get worse over time.)
GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS
Better puzzle guidance
More intuitive clues without giving too much away.
New ambient sounds
The hospital is now even more immersive and tense.
Improved hiding mechanics
The Doctor should no longer camp near lockers after you hide.
New secret passages
Explore new routes — but don’t rely on them too much. He’s smarter than he looks.
New crouch option
You can now choose between "Hold" or "Toggle" for crouching in the settings menu.
New death scene
A brand new kill animation inspired by Frankenstein.
This update completely transforms the demo experience. If you’ve already played, it’s worth revisiting. And if this is your first time… good luck.
