The Staffer Retro demo has been updated to Version 0.9.V1.

This update includes the long-awaited Japanese voice acting, along with preparations for our upcoming crowdfunding campaign.

Many features and improvements suggested by players in earlier versions have been implemented in this update.

Because this version contains a particularly large number of structural changes, maintaining compatibility with older save data was unfortunately not possible.

For this reason, save data from Version 0.9.V1 onward will be stored separately.

Team Tetrapod and Gamepia are excited to announce three major updates for the supernatural deduction adventure 『Staffer Retro: A Supernatural Mystery Quest』: a newly updated key art, the second official cinematic trailer, and a free playable demo releasing on December 5 on Steam.

On December 5, players will be able to experience the entire first case of the full game in a free Steam demo.The demo supports five languages at launch: English, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese

1. Reasoning win condition

Your opponents will now be able to use multiple pieces of staff simultaneously. Players can now refer to the information on their bureau files to deduce which staff their opponents are using and win by presenting their guess.

2. Using Staff

In the second chapter of Dice Eater, players are allowed to make use of the staff in their possession as well. These are merely downgraded copies of the original staff, but they can swing the game in your favor or entice an opponent into using their own staff.

3. Detecting system

During this Exchange, it's now possible to reason out which staff your opponent is using—a correct guess becoming a new win condition. However, you should be careful how you make use of everything because your opponents may see through your plans.

Hello to all of the gamers who have poured out your love for the Staffer series. We are Team Tetrapod. In March, we launched the second spinoff game in the Staffer series called Dice Eater: A Supernatural Mystery Card Game. Dice Eater ended up being a new and challenging project for us, and in the end, it turned out the direction of the game did not line up with what fans were expecting. Originally, it was our plan to add challenge mode to the official release of Dice Eater that would have taken a roguelike format. However, as our players generally rated the basic gameplay of Dice Eater poorly, we've judged that this decision would not take the game in a better direction. Thus, we've decided to scrap the planned 'challenge mode' feature and focus instead on developing the story-oriented content with a 'Story Mode – Chapter 2.' {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/45385555/08473c20006dbeb60c62415f11c10dca3c829b2d.png If we view chapter one of the story mode available now as the part where the protagonist 'analysis' her opponent's supernatural abilities, chapter two is going to be about 'applying' the revealed supernatural abilities in order to face stronger opponents. After chapter one, The Crow will once again receive an invitation from The Exchange, where she will begin using her own pieces of staff against a number of other pieces of staff. Following the feedback we've gotten from our gaming community, we're going to speed up the pace of the game for the scheduled official June release of the game and aim to place more weight on the story elements within the game. It would be a difficult challenge to change the fundamentals that Dice Eater had been build upon, but we can at least work our hardest to give meaning to the game for those who take their time to play it.
