It's that time of the month again, and I can't wait to share some news with you this time around... so let's get rolling already!!!!
Before starting though, we just reached 1,000 reviews on steam!! This a crazy milestone for a solo developer like me, so I'd like to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. If you haven't already and you've enjoyed the game (or have any critics to put down into words!) please go leave a review as it really helps a ton.
1.1 VERY SOON™
Yeppppp you're reading it correctly, Dice A Million's first free update, 1.1, is coming veeery soon. I talked about it briefly last month, but my goal with this update is to include a bunch of brand new fun stuff for you to play around with. Don't expect any new endings or any big crazy reveals. And in fact, to keep it transparent, here's the full list of all new major features currently in the update:
1 new hand
17 new dice
12 new rings
1 new card
1 new dice modifier
The main focus of the update will be the new hand, and its many new introduced mechanics. I don't want to show a lot of that yet... But there's a couple of things that I feel won't spoil anything, so why not take a quick look?!
Firstly, what's that new mysterious dice modifier you may ask... Introducing Face Weights:
These are a new way to make dice more likely to roll specific faces. They don't replace enchantments, they are a complete separate thing.
If you care about the math... basically dice with 4 faces or less are internally rolled twice, for 2 chances of rolling the weighted face, and dice with more than 4 faces have a 25% chance of rolling their weighted face.
Also, just realized I haven't shown any new rings, so here's one I really like!
Are you the type of player to hold onto your rescources until the very end? This ring is very much for you.
I can't show much else since I don't wanna spoil any of the new mechanics/archetypes, but I can't wait to see what crazy things you cook up with this new set of tools :)
What? You wanna know what the new hand does...? Weeeeelll, I can't share that yet, but- oops, what is this? These strange screenshots just popped into the post as I was writing it.
Anyways, besides these and the small list above there's a huge amount of balance changes, QoL features, and many many fixes, you'll see that when the time comes...
I might add a few more things before the launch, but I can't promise anything else. Again, I'd like to remind everyone that it's just me on the team at the moment, and apart from bringing 1.1 to life I've also been busy with the other half of this upcoming release...
CONSOLE & MOBILE RELEASE
It's coming guys you can calm down!!! My goal is to still release 1.1 alongside all the ports for every current console + mobile platforms. Here's a quick rundown of the progress on each of them: 🟡Android/iOS: Menu adaption almost done
🟢macOS: Completed
🟢XBOX: Completed
🟢PS5: Completed
🟢Switch: Completed, but still optimizing
Everything is almost ready! You may notice that PS4 is missing from this table, and that's because I ran across some unexpected problems during porting, and since the game's gonna be on PS5 anyways, I wanted to prioritize all other releases this time. This doesn't mean the game is never coming out on PS4, but it may be delayed a bit.
Switch is also the patform I've been working on the most, since it needs the most optimization care. I really want to release it together with the rest of the package but there might be a tiny delay, I'm doing everything I can to avoid it though.
RELEASE DATE
Regarding the release date... I don't have anything super set in stone as of now, BUT know that I'm planning a trip on mid September, and I want everything to come out a couple of weeks before that, so... do your maths!
The moment I have something set in stone I will let you know through a post or even a new trailer ;)
ANYTHING ELSE...?
I've literally been pouring my soul into this game yet again... It feels like 2025 all of over again. So NO, I of course haven't had the time to work on, think about or BREATH in anything else.
That's all for now, hope you are looking forward to this new dice content :)
