Hello everyone! Dan here with a couple of updates on the game.
First, you may have noticed we revamped the game's key art, drawn by yours truly. I wanted to have something a bit more fun, which can convey the energy of the game, while keeping the logo legible. Let me know what you think! Open to any adjustments down the line.
Secondly, we’re showcasing the game as part of London Games Festival this week. I’ll be down at the New Game Plus on the 16th and 17th showing alongside lots of other amazing games, so please come by and say hello! Also to celebrate, the game will be on sale for the next week, so if you still haven’t gotten the game, now is a great time!
Finally, just wanted to briefly mention that we’re still working on more languages and content for the game, and are hoping to have a big update sometime in summer, so please look forward to it!

A bug introduced in the v1.0.6 update prevented players from entering rooms, and we urgently fixed it in v1.0.7. We apologize to anyone who was unable to play for the inconvenience.
Bug Fixes
Fixed a bug that prevented rooms from being created.
Fixed a bug where AI answers were judged incorrectly.
Added 13 words to the correct-answer list that had previously been judged incorrect despite being correct.
Server Migration
Due to a significant increase in the number of players, we are gradually migrating our servers. As a result, the game may be unstable at times until the end of March. Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for all your bug reports and feedback! Based on your feedback, we’ve fixed several issues and added new features as outlined below.
Added the ability to change categories directly from the lobby without leaving the room, a highly requested feature.
Added 100 new prompts to each of the following categories: “Objects,” “Food & Drinks,” and “Type of Places.”
Improved tolerance for English spelling mistakes, allowing for more flexible answer recognition.
Debi has gotten a little smarter when it comes to making predictions in Japanese (though he might have gotten dumber in other ways, too…)
Fixed a bug where the game would skip the drawing player and freeze on the results screen despite it being their turn to draw.
Added 23 words to the correct answer list that were previously judged as incorrect despite being valid answers.
Optimized animations that may have been causing screen lag on Windows, reducing performance overhead.
Multilingual Support
To make the game accessible to more players worldwide, we are working on multilingual support.
We are currently prioritizing Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, with plans to add Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Korean, and other languages in the future.
Server Migration
Due to a significant increase in the number of players, we are gradually migrating our servers.
As a result, the game may experience instability until around the end of February.
Thank you for your understanding.
Fixed an issue where all six players could not enter a room when many players attempted to join at the same time.
Added 36 words to the correct answer list that were previously judged as incorrect despite being valid answers.
Reduced the volume of sounds played during drawing, based on feedback that they were too loud and uncomfortable.
Removed some prompts that were reported as inappropriate.
Improved tolerance for English spelling variations.
We are currently investigating an issue where the entire game may freeze if an answer is submitted at the very last moment before the timer runs out.We plan to fix this as soon as possible, but for now, we kindly ask players to avoid submitting answers right around the 0-second mark.
Due to a significant increase in the number of players, we are gradually migrating our servers.
The game may be slightly unstable until the end of February. Thank you for your understanding.
We have some important news regarding the future of the game. Starting Friday, January 16th, we will be increasing the base price of the game by approximately 25% across all regions.
Example of the new pricing:
USD: $11.99 → $14.99
GBP: £9.99 → £11.99
EUR: €10.99 → €12.99
JPY: ¥1400 → ¥1890
Why the change?
We have decided to do this primarily as the overall costs to run the game has been higher than originally expected. While we are incredibly happy that many of you are enjoying the game, the unexpected volume of players has pushed our original infrastructure to its limits.
Server Stability: Our initial setup wasn't optimised for the current player load, leading to the outages some of you experienced. We are currently migrating to a more robust, long-term system. This is more expensive to run, but it ensures the game stays online and stable.
AI Costs: As you know, the game heavily relies on AI. The costs to maintain these AI models have been higher than expected with the high player volume. This price adjustment allows us to keep the game running and account for future cost fluctuations.
The change will also allow us to continue improving the game and adding more features, such as additional languages, game rules, Steam achievements and more. When will it happen?
We wanted to give you this heads-up a bit in advance. If you’ve had the game on your wishlist or have been on the fence about buying it, you can still grab it at the original price until Friday, January 16th.
We still intend to hold occasional sales for the game in the future as well, but the "base" price will change to ensure the game remains sustainable for years to come.
Thank you for your understanding and we hope you all will continue to enjoy the game!
Bug Fixes & Improvements
Fixed an issue in version 1.0.2 where categories were not unlocking. Any categories for which you had already met the requirements will unlock after you play through once.
Added 26 words to the answer list that were previously treated as incorrect despite being correct.
Improved Japanese fonts.
New Feature: AI Prediction Explanation
Added a “How the AI Works” section to the “Other” menu, explaining how the AI makes its predictions.
⸻
Note: This update is version 1.0.3, but due to our mistake it is shown as version 1.0.21 in the game😅
You can now directly copy the room participation code from the lobby screen.
You can now hide the room code on the lobby screen when streaming or broadcasting.
You can now select or deselect all categories from the category selection menu
The time limit for the drawing phase has been reduced from 120 seconds to 90 seconds.
Added 38 words that were previously marked incorrect despite being correct
(e.g., answering “Lemon” with its kanji form).
Fixed an issue where correct answers were occasionally judged as incorrect.
We patched the ongoing issue where players are unable to enter a room after inputting their name.
This is likely caused by a browser cache issue. If this issue persists, joining via a newly opened private/incognito browser window might allows successful entry.
Updating these based on your feedbacks!
Added 16 words that were previously marked incorrect even though they were right
The host can now skip everyone’s image training at once on the final data training screen
Adjusted the time limit on the final data training screen to 120 seconds
Updated AI to better react to Japanese wordplay-based drawing prompts (Devi is still struggling a bit with Japanese though…)
Slightly upgraded the server — hopefully it won’t crash this time…
We’re very excited to finally announce that Deviation Game (formerly outdraw.AI) is OUT NOW!
Starting development back in pre-ChatGPT 2022, the game has steadily evolved from an experimental art piece to a full-fledged party game! Of course things took longer than expected, so we really appreciate everyone’s patience and support throughout development. While the core content is finally complete, we have decided to launch via Early Access. As you probably can’t stop hearing about, AI has changed a lot over the last 3 years. In fact, we’ve had to change the structure of the game multiple times due to how much the tech has evolved. As such, launching via Early Access will allow us to keep evolving the game both with the tech, but more importantly, with your feedback. Enhancing human creativity and expression has always been the purpose of the project, and so it's vital that we can continue to listen to the community and keep improving the game to make it the best it can be.
In addition, you can also look forward to more content in the future including more languages, game categories, Steam achievements, a “Global Stats” page to see how other people around the world fare against the AI, and the option to choose which specific AI model to go up against. Overall we think the Early Access will last a few months, and aim for a refined release around April 2026. But for now, we’re incredibly excited for you all to finally just play it! So this festive season we hope you’ll grab your friends and family and deviate your doodles together ✏️🤖 Tomo & Dan
Hello everyone!
We’re very excited to finally announce that the Deviation Game will be coming out THIS FRIDAY December 12th via Early Access!
It’s been quite a journey developing this game over the last 3 years, and we’re very pleased to get it out in the wild just in time for the festive season.
So we hope you’ll grab your friends and family this winter and do your best to beat the AI!
