Every time you enter a map, the game automatically creates a backup save of your progress before entering that map. If it is not your first time entering that map, the existing backup save for that map will be replaced with a new one.
This means that if your save is ever lost or becomes corrupted, you can restore a backup through the game files.
We have also created a guide explaining exactly how to restore a backup save if this ever happens:

We’ve reached over 100 reviews in less than a week since launching in Early Access we’re incredibly happy and grateful! We’d like to thank everyone for the support, purchases, reviews, feedback, and bug reports. We truly appreciate it.
Even though we can’t respond to everyone, please know that we are paying close attention to your suggestions and requests.
We also want to clarify that we are just two brothers developing Deadline Escape, we’re not a studio or a big team.
Sorry for the delay on FOV, we’re already working on it, but it will take a little longer before it’s ready. It will be added to the game soon.
We also plan to introduce improvements in the future, such as a game map, additional ways to use materials, better balancing of item repair requirements, quality of life features, localization, and many other requested additions. These changes will take time to implement, with some taking longer than others.
