It’s been two weeks since Dead Weight launched!
Since then, we’ve been reading your reviews and discussions, going through your feedback, and collecting and sorting bug reports, ideas, and suggestions.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to tell us where the game trips up. Your reports help us find problems faster and understand what needs our attention first.
Today, we’re releasing our first post-launch patch. We’ve fixed issues in combat and the interface, tidied up the map and events, made several balance changes, and worked on improving stability. There is still plenty more to improve and fix, so we’re not stopping here. More patches are on the way, followed by an update that will add new content to the game.
Player ideas and requests are an important source of inspiration whenever we add something new to Dead Weight. So if you’d like to have a hand in making the game better, we’d love to hear from you :)
You can tell us about any issues you run into—or anything you’d like to see in the game—in the Steam Discussions or on our Discord server.
Thank you for setting out on this journey with us!
Dead Weight — Patch 1.0.2.3
Combat and Abilities
Berry’s Vulnerability skill no longer increases the damage Aluza takes from her own summoning.
Canceling a move no longer causes a trap to damage a character who returns to it.
Reinforced Mass Healing now removes negative effects from every ally in its area of effect, even if they are at full Health.
Shots now work correctly across pits two or more tiles wide, provided the target is within the skill’s range.
If a pirate battle begins with the “−1 Health at the start of battle” modifier, restarting the battle now reapplies it correctly.
Damage previews now update correctly after abilities are toggled on or off.
Fixed the maximum Action Points value displayed when Berry has Vivacity.
The correct tooltip is now shown for an enemy’s Movement action while that enemy is affected by Net.
Balance
The cost of resting at the Tavern now increases with each rest.
Resuscitation used by enemy healers in Region 2 now activates instantly and can target units up to three tiles away. It now has a two-turn cooldown.

Skilled Iron Bird now puts targets to Sleep for one turn instead of two.
The push range of Giants Hammer has been reduced to three tiles.
Master Swabbie now has the Trap ability.
The push strength of the Brute’s Fus Ro! has been increased from 1 to 2.
Interface and Tooltips
Fixed two quest tooltips appearing at the same time in Town.
Unit tooltips no longer appear over tutorial windows or remain on screen after changing scenes.
Tutorial pop-ups in the prologue no longer cover the Continue button.
Status and effect icons above the portrait on the bottom ability bar have been removed, as they duplicated the information shown in the upper-left character panel.
Invulnerable objects now display the infinity symbol correctly instead of a Health value.
Fixed how service prices are displayed at the Lighthouse: the correct price is now shown even when there is not enough Gold for an upgrade.
Fixed how prices are displayed in the Dock when Lumière has the Old Friends perk.
The Drift tutorial no longer appears during the prologue.
Improved the wording of the tooltips for Movement and breaking free from entanglement.
The end credits now adjust to the text size.
Map and Events
Once every combat island in a region has been cleared, Drift will carry the ship to the region’s boss.
Adjusted Minion behavior: Minions that become duplicated or lose their cloud will now self-destruct.
After Madness is reset at the Temple, both the clouds and their associated Minions now disappear correctly.
Audio and Visuals
The overall audio mix is now more even, with fewer volume spikes.
Added sounds for gaining Favor on the Defeat and death progression screens.
Fixed the stone animation on the Tavern island in Region 2.
Stability and Compatibility
Reduced the risk of crashes during combat on slower systems. We are continuing to monitor this issue.
Fixed a potential crash while performing rituals at the Temple: pressing Enter could trigger an error.
Improved stability on systems with NVIDIA graphics cards. We are continuing to monitor this issue.

Polished the wording of tutorials and story dialogue.
Fixed minor errors in the English text.
Corrected the descriptions of robots, sword skills, and the traps used by the Region 2 boss.
