Greetings, mercenaries! We are counting down the hours to Launch Day and preparing to welcome you into the world of Crossfire: Sierra Squad on August 29th! Be sure to add it to your Steam wishlist to be notified as soon as the game is available. In the meantime, we have some updates for you that we’d like to share.
Early Access
As VR gaming technology continues to grow and improve, we are aiming high with Crossfire: Sierra Squad. In order to continue to push boundaries and get it right, when CFSS goes live on Steam on August 29th, it will be through Steam Early Access. The Early Access build contains most of the content we’re currently planning for and is extremely playable. We would, however, like to continue to improve the user experience by improving the UI/UX and PC & HMD optimization. This will also help us prepare for cross-platform play with the console version on PlayStation VR2. Our intent is to take the learning we get from player feedback and work it into our full release version. Also, with the player feedback we will be able to add new content in the future.
Features we will be working on during the Early Access period include:
► Headset Compatibility – There are currently 10 PCVR headsets supported by CFSS. We want to ensure excellent performance across all supported headsets, whether players are playing solo or co-op, and whether they are playing on the same headsets or all different devices. We will be optimizing until we feel that everything is consistently performing as intended. Supported headsets currently include:
- Valve Index (hotfix #1 resolved the weapon angle and HUD issues)
- Oculus Rift S
- Oculus Rift
- Meta Quest Pro
- Meta Quest 2
- Meta Quest
- HTC VIVE Pro
- HTC VIVE Valve Index (note: currently working to resolve toggle/control issues)
- Windows MR (Samsung Odyssey)
- PICO 4
► PC Optimization – with so many PC builds and variants out there in the wild, we want to make sure that everyone has an equally stellar experience with CFSS, regardless of their rig. Optimizing a game to match various PC specs and HMD combinations involves many factors. Steam Early Access allows us to make any adjustments needed to provide the best possible gameplay. By involving players in the process, we can work to ensure that the game runs the best it can on each device.
► Cross-platform play – once we are happy with the performance of CFSS across the variety of headsets and PC setups that are out there, we will be instituting cross-platform play between PC and PlayStation VR2. That means that you’ll be able to easily play with your friends, whether they are on PC or console.
► And more! – we’ll also take this time to listen to player feedback on adding any new features to the game, like new skins, maps, etc. We’ll have more information on any additional features and/or content in the future.
10% Discount
As a thank you for joining us in Steam Early Access, we will be temporarily pricing CFSS at $26.99 USD (a 10% discount) until the game leaves Early Access and goes into full release.
Free Limited Time Weapon Skins
During the Early Access period, players will be able to acquire two weapon skins from an in-game store for free -- the
CAR4 Desert Camo and the
Kalash 47 Black Laminate. These skins will only be available in the in-game store until the game goes into its full release. Also, to be clear, please note that Crossfire: Sierra Squad does not have any microtransactions within the game, so the remaining weapons available to everyone in the in-game store are available at no extra cost.
