Hello! This update features a lot of bugfixing and some QoL changes, as well as a new and improved padlock that is more intuitive and just works better. Here is the full List: \

• Changed journal tab-switching from A/D to Q/E; inventory item swapping now uses A/D instead of scroll wheel; using items changed from E to Left Click are overall more intuitive menu navigation

• Added Invert X and Y options for camera movement, found under Options → Gameplay

• Improved lock mechanic: interacting with a sigil door when you already have the key will now automatically open it, skipping the inventory screen. will be expanded to other doors and non-puzzle usable items in future updates

• Created new and improved combination padlock; reinstated puzzles using this new design

• Removed block on player run after grabbing the hatch wheel in the burnt tunnels

• Fixed issue where the rifle door would close while trying to pick up items inside

• Fixed major save & load bug where enemies would sometimes save their current information and persisting through a load of a previous save.

• Fixed bug where closing and reopening the game after collecting the Lighter would leave the player unable to move

• Fixed bug where interacting with a floor marking would infinitely add a diary entry to the journal

• Fixed bug where the stone door with rotating dials would not save its open state properly

• Fixed bug where the shotgun could be retained prematurely after placing it back in the wall holder

• Fixed bug where the eyecrab trigger would respawn upon re-entering the area

• Fixed description of the jewelry box note

• Fixed handprint button vanishing from the door Note: If you lost your handprint button, use the special build of the game "botaobugadoaoba"

• Improved readability and level design in areas at the end of Chapter 1. important houses are now better lit, with improved flow around the unlockable shortcut

• Worked on improvements to prevent enemies from passing through walls when out of view or far from the player

Want to get started by thanking you all for your patience and feedback. I have done a lot of bugfixing and general improvements to the game today and bring you this update. Here's the list:

Combination padlock completely removed from game

I improved the mechanic but In the end it was just too confusing for a lot of players. The mechanic itself needs a total rework into a different type of lock (which is something I want to work on in the future) As of right now, this lock was removed and replaced with keys (and in one case the whole puzzle was removed)

Removed Grave dirt models that were non Digable to avoid confusion. Now every grave dirt site can be digged.

Fixed dialog where a voice line from Eunice was being said by Laura

Improved level design on house 36 (the bookshelf house). The entrance is now more visible as you enter the area.

Some handgun ammo pieces were non interactable during the region right before the first boss.

Fixed issue where you could still interact with the pigface mask and trigger a dialog, even after the mask is gone.

Fixed issue where you can’t cross a dark section due to not having a ligher ( It was happening after you already have the flashlight )

First boss health nerfed by 20% due to player feedback

Fixed issue where enemies (Especially pigface) would execute their attack animations even when far away from you.

added collisions to avoid enemies jumping up on kitchen counters and innaccessible areas.

Fixed bug where you could pause game on the game over menu

Fixed continuity error where player was able to retrigger the “follow rusty” quest at later points in the chapter.

Fixed issue where Noia would respawn on the house with the serpent key when you leave and re-enter.

fixed bug where the handprint button can disappear upon entering and exiting the house

Fixed issue where Trigger with dialog “ I need to follow rusty” would reactivate upon entering a specific part of the map.

Hey there everyone! Thank you for an amazing launch day! Just wanted to let you know that I will be taking close attention to the discussions community tab and I will be working on fixing all of the bugs pointed out by you. I also wanted to thank you for taking the time to leave a review with your feedback and/or leaving a post about any issues you may have. I will be reworking the combination padlock mechanic as well as better direction towards the end of the chapter with more notes and map objectives for example.

This has been almost two years of solo development, and today it's finally in your hands.

Chapter 1 offers 2 to 4 hours of PS1-inspired survival horror. Laura's story is just beginning .

First off, I'd like to thank everyone for their support and patience during that delay back in April. I'm happy to announce that Comatose launches in just 3 days, on June 4th, 2026, on Early Access for just $8.99 (with a 25% launch discount for two weeks)

During the Early Access launch, the game will feature a 3–5 hour campaign: Chapter 1. Chapters 2 and 3 will launch as free updates to the base game, concluding Laura's story.

There will also be a new launch trailer dropping at the same time, so stay tuned for that as well.

Hey there! how's it going?

It is with an extremely heavy heart that I come here to let you guys know that comatose will need to be delayed by a couple months. Reason for that is that I have sent the game for review and Valve has not yet approved of it. I have sent it 20 days in advance when they normally ask for two weeks, But because my game has sensitive content Valve needed some extra time to properly review it. This should not push us back too much since I have most of chapter one already finalized. We were on track to release all of the content in time for early access after all.

But the bright side is that because of this delay I will be able to polish and iron out every remaining bug and outstanding issues and also implement all of the feedback that I already got from the demo.

Thank you for your support and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to get the game out for you guys today.

I just want to say Thank you to everyone who downloaded and played the COMATOSE demo since it went live yesterday.

Seeing your reactions, messages, bug reports, and feedback has been incredibly helpful (and honestly super motivating). It means a lot to see people spending time with the game and sharing their experience.

I've already started working through the issues reported by playtesters and players, and this is the first round of fixes.

Patch Notes / Bug Fixes

• Improved the detection radius for picking up objects

• Fixed bug where the sound would glitch when swapping inventory items too fast

• Fixed Level issue on the Fuse Path A where there was a floating roof

• Fixed bug on the Weapon Upgrade station where you would upgrade the wrong weapon

• Added a FOV number next to the Slider to indicate the current FOV level

• Fixed issue where you could loose a fuse when inserting it over another in the prison Hub area

More fixes and improvements are coming as I continue reviewing feedback.

If you run into any issues, feel free to report them — it really helps me improve the demo and the full game.
