Hello Everyone,
I've been busy back porting UI and Steamdeck compatibility improvements from my next incremental game: Mining and Dwarves to Click and Conquer. This update should make the game more enjoyable to play on Steamdeck, and provides some QoL features to the UI such as font scale options to the settings menu.
I also took the time to make some tweaks to the UI to make it a little more polished. Not a complete overhaul, but some components should look a bit nicer.
As always, thanks for all the support, reviews, and help with bug hunting. It is a huge help to me as a solo dev! Please keep the bug reports coming, especially if I broke anything or made anything worse with this update.
Hey everyone,
I just pushed a small update for Click and Conquer focused on the long-standing windowed mode issue.
This update is focused on fixing the long-standing windowed mode issue. I believe this patch should resolve it. If it still happens on your setup, I already know the full fix path, it will just take a bit more development time (and I won’t disappear for another year before handling it).
For anyone curious about the technical cause:When a game window matches your monitor resolution, some operating systems automatically treat/optimize it like fullscreen. In Click and Conquer, switching to windowed mode could reset the game window back to the project’s hardcoded resolution (1920x1080). On 1080p displays, the OS would then immediately push it back into fullscreen behavior.I couldn’t reliably reproduce this on my own machines because my monitors are larger than 1920x1080.I’m not yet sure whether this behavior is specific to Godot or not, but please test this update and let me know if you still see the issue.A permanent “fix for all cases” would require changing the project’s base resolution, which requires a bigger UI pass (rescaling/repositioning across the game), so I wanted to get this improvement out to you first.I have some future announcements to follow, but for now thank you for sticking with the game <3Removed window size option. (Felt it wasn't needed and also caused issues)
Fix windowed mode (Hopefully...)
