Expeditioners!
Following the huge demand from so many of you, we’ve been working super hard to be able to finally announce that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is now available with Arabic text!
This brings the total number of supported languages to 20!
With the new Arabic language support, we had to consider additional changes to the game’s UI to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for Arabic-speaking players around the world.
Adding Arabic localization has been a true team effort over many months, from the incredible adaptation and localization work carried out by the linguists, to reworking the vast majority of the user interface for right-to-left reading, all the way through localization testing.
Every team involved brought passion and dedication to making this possible, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their work. We hope this update makes the story feel even more personal to our players.
Today’s update also includes some additional fixes and improvements. Read the full patch notes here!
Thank you all so much for your continued support! <3
Tomorrow comes.

Introducing a special bundle featuring the award‑winning fantasy RPG “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, created by the team behind Persona 3-5, paired with “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” - now available at 10% off!
Enjoy both titles and experience the worlds for yourself!
The Metaphor: ReFantazio × Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Bundle includes two games: “Metaphor: ReFantazio” and “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.”
Message from Guillaume Broche & Katsura Hashino
"Metaphor: ReFantazio is a game that is really inspiring for us. It tells a beautiful story in a completely new world that is masterfully crafted. It deals with heavy themes but one that resonates strongly with me is the importance of imagination in all aspects of our lives. The cast is lovable and the turn-based battle system is one of the best I have played. The re-imagination of the traditional jobs system through Archetypes is fantastic and opens up so many playstyles that are fun to play around with. On top of that, the game has one of the most charismatic villains I've ever seen in an RPG. It is a great honor to be able to collaborate with Atlus on this bundle, as I have been a fan of their work since Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call (also known as Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne for some players)." - Guillaume Broche
"I am Katsura Hashino from ATLUS, serving as the Creative Director for “Metaphor: ReFantazio.” I am very pleased to hear that a Steam bundle will be released with “Expedition 33,” a title that has received high praise around the world.
“Expedition 33” is a work that conveys a deep understanding of and sincere dedication to the JRPG genre, crafted with great care down to the finest details. As someone who also creates RPGs, I found it to be truly inspiring.
I am genuinely delighted to see Japanese-style RPGs being born and embraced, not only from Japanese-based studios like ours, but other places around the world through diverse creative approaches.
While the two titles differ in their worlds and overall direction, players may find a shared spirit in how we each approach and express the RPG genre. I hope that this bundle encourages players to experience both titles and enjoy the breadth of what RPGs can offer."
Expeditioners,
We're so pleased to see so many of you enjoying the new photo mode feature!!
We put a lot of time and care into building this feature and we’re so glad to see so many of you enjoying it! There were a lot of moving parts involved in getting the Photo Mode set up, so we thought we’d show a bit of the process in this blog and talk a bit about what went into building this feature.
There were a few key people involved in the development of this, and each of them had a part to write here !
VINCENT CONSTANTIN-TURKI – Producer \
One of the main features we wanted to introduce with the Thank You Update was Photo Mode. It felt like a meaningful way to give something back to the players and thank them for their commitment to the game.
What’s funny is that the team in charge of developing Photo Mode doesn’t usually use this feature in other games, which is why we decided to collaborate with Shinobi. He helped us design a Photo Mode that would truly resonate with players.
NAJA DALMAGNE – QA Coordinator \
In many games we tested, Photo Modes often felt restrictive, which could quickly become frustrating. So, from the very beginning, one of the key goals we all agreed on was to give players as much freedom as possible. It was really about letting players express their creativity without getting in the way.
During development, the QA team ran into some unexpected and sometimes quite funny issues. One of the funniest, but also one of the most severe, involved characters whose heads or torsos could become displaced or deformed when opening the Photo Mode if they hadn’t been visible on screen for a while during exploration.
One feature I’m particularly proud of is the lighting system Florian worked on. It offers great flexibility while remaining fairly easy to use, which really makes a difference when you're trying to get the perfect shot.
FLORIAN TORRES – Senior Gameplay Programmer \ \
I love giving players as many tools and features as possible (that’s literally the purpose of my job).
When we started working on the photo mode, our goal was to give players as few restrictions as possible and that’s what I was in charge of coding: infinite camera distance, the ability to pass through collisions, lots of customizable lights, many (weird) filters, and more.
Of course, that comes with its challenges, but in the end it allows players to see a lot of things we don’t want to show during normal gameplay. The photo mode became a way to peek behind the scenes of each cinematic or environment, and sometimes even see how we have created the entire game.
Ever wondered what happens outside the camera frame? Here’s an example (sorry cinematic team, I love you).
LUDOVIC ‘SHINOBI’ HELME – Photo Mode Consultant \
We felt it was important to include anything that increases the “freedom” factor for players. It opens up countless possibilities every time someone enters photo mode: a very generous camera range to capture unseen details or create epic compositions, RGB curves control to edit and build your own color schemes, a strong custom lighting system to truly take ownership of a scene, and solid depth-of-field management.
But when all of that is also available in cutscenes - giving access to those incredible facial expressions and emotions - that’s when I really start to feel satisfied.
Every shot I’ve seen has blown my mind, and I often wish I’d been the one to come up with the idea. It’s truly inspiring.
I’m very proud that the team managed to create a tool that is both beginner-friendly and deeply satisfying for more experienced photographers. Finding that balance is extremely difficult.
With all of these features, there had to be a user-friendly way for people to make use of everything. Making sure players had full control of all the settings and could navigate all the features comes down to our awesome Gameplay & UI Programmer, VICTOR BOULEZ.
Thank you for all of your appreciation and feedback on this feature, we had a lot of fun making it and even more fun watching you use it!
This past week, especially, we’ve really loved the work you’ve all been putting into the social Photo Mode Prompt Challenge!! We’ve seen some amazing photography this past week, it’s completely blown our minds how creative you have been able to get with the prompts and tools.
Even though the challenge is over, feel free to keep sharing your work with us on social media, we thoroughly enjoy seeing some of your masterpieces!!
In the meantime, we are continuing to work on fixes for ongoing problems, keep an eye on the bug thread and socials to stay updated on the latest.
Finally, we leave you with some of our favourite uses of photo mode.
Expeditioners,
As we get closer to the holidays and towards the end of 2025, looking back on the year we cannot fathom everything that we've been gifted by you all.

Expeditioners, the 1.5.1 hotfix is now live!
Thanks to your reports, we have worked on a number of fixes listed below:
Fixed Monoco’s weapon “Cannaro” being unobtainable from Chromatic Machinapieds
Players who already defeated the boss will automatically receive the weapon in their inventory, unless they started a NG+(+) after that
Fixed Esquim not applying Mark to all enemies when a skill had 0 hits.
Fixed a targeting issue caused by using a Recoat item followed by ‘Retry Battle’, which resulted in the player being unable to target the middle enemy or character.
Fixed a soft-lock when attempting to load a save without hovering any slot while backup saves were displayed.
Fixed upgrade of the weapons to level 34 when spamming Upgrade weapon and change character buttons
Level 34 weapons have been reverted back to level 33
Fixed character being able to use other characters' weapon when quickly switching weapon tabs after changing weapon
Nerfed the hardest boss in Verso’s Drafts (red lifebuoy) by moving it slightly to make a quest easier.
Fixed various environment issues (collisions, misplaced assets, missing or incorrect footsteps SFX) across Verso's Drafts, the World Map, and other levels.
Improved environmental ambiances and spatial audio for better immersion in Verso’s Drafts
Enhanced audio mixes for select characters, combos, and finishers
Multiple audio & music issues were resolved, including:
Missing music after defeating new Endless Tower bosses.
Missing subtitle line for Sciel in one of the new cinematics.
Missing Barbapapa status effect SFX when receiving a second stack.
Missing some SFX for Licorne enemy in Verso’s Drafts.
Missing SFX for Paint Cage explosions in Verso's Drafts.
Music and SFX not pausing when opening pause menu during cinematic sequence with slow motion enabled, resulting in audio desynchronization for the remainder of the cinematic sequence
Fixed various localization issues, including:
Subtitles in Root Of All Evil cinematics disappearing too fast.
Overlapping text in Pictos & Luminas lists.
Autoplay dialogue options swapped when the title is set to LATAM Spanish.
Incorrect text displayed during Flying Manor side quest when the title is set to Vietnamese.
Verso’s skill Phantom Stars displaying HTML in combat when the title is set to Vietnamese.
We are aware of various issues encountered, particularly the one reported by some of you who are having difficulty launching the title on Windows 11.
One of these issues is caused by Windows Security reporting false positives when launching. This has been fixed as part of the v1.5.1 hotfix as of 17:00 CET.
The other issue causing this problem is related to the Windows Smart App Control feature. Turning it off to fix it is not recommended as this will remove the feature permanently from your system. We are investigating this issue and hope to resolve it as soon as possible so we suggest waiting for the next hotfix!
Until then,
Tomorrow comes!
And as always thanks for your support and for your reports via the official Typeform!

Once a year, the Paintress awakens to inscribe her cursed number on the monolith. And everyone of that age vanishes, turning to smoke, and fading into nothing.
Each year, the number decreases, erasing more lives. Soon, she will mark “33.” When she does, we will embark on our final mission—to destroy the Paintress and end her deadly cycle for good. Embark on the Expedition of a lifetime with Gustave (Charlie Cox), Maelle (Jennifer English), Lune (Kirsty Rider), Sciel (Shala Nyx), and Monoco (Rich Keeble), alongside incredible characters such as the powerful-yet–lazy Esquie (Maxence Cazorla), the mysterious Verso (Ben Starr), and the brooding force that is Renoir (Andy Serkis). Let the world once again watch the sun rise without the shadow of her cursed figure, and may the wind of renewal take you to the ends of the earth. Tomorrow comes, thanks to you. Expedition 33.
