The season of rolling clouds over Shushan has arrived once again. In years past, thunder and flame surge strongest across the mountains at this time, and disciples would gather at the summit of Purple Cloud Peak to watch heavenly lightning temper blades.
This year, the thunder strikes harder than ever.
Over five full weeks, we’ve polished the most frequently requested feedback points — refined Sect Wars, reworked sword flight handling, and created a new companion so striking that our entire writing team could barely look at the screen by the time we finished her story.
Her name is Zhuohua. A cultivator of fire and thunder, she has the most... lifelike figure out of all our companions.
When our artists were drafting her character art, one of our programmers walked past the screen, stopped, and said: "Is she cultivating the Dao... or is she cultivating my Dao Heart?"
We laughed about it all afternoon. But in the end, we kept that character art.
Because the Dao of Shushan was never just about ascetic solitude and bitter cultivation.
Some paths of the Dao, you have to walk yourself to feel just how scorching they really are.

Character Background
Born Ji Zhuohua to the Fire Clan of the Southern Border, she awakened a rare Thunder-Fire Dual Spiritual Root at the age of three — a one-in-ten-thousand gift that grants astounding cultivation speed, yet triggers heavenly lightning tribulation flames with every breakthrough. A single misstep, and her body and soul would be erased entirely.
At twelve, she joined the Shushan Sect and was taken as the closed-door disciple of True Person Taiyi, where she dedicated herself to mastering the Nine Heavens Thunder Flame Art. Fifteen years into her cultivation, she never fastens her Daoist robe tight — the fire spiritual power surging within her is so intense that even the slightest restriction would set the fabric ablaze. Over time, this became her signature look.
Her official title in Shushan is True Person Yanxiao, but disciples privately call her Senior Sister Zhuohua. Legend says a disciple who ran into her at the sword training grounds at dusk retreated into secluded cultivation for three days. When he emerged, he wrote a poem, its final line reading: "Where thunder and flame burn, the Dao Heart pales next to the warmth of a human heart."
She debuts in this update as a fully romanceable companion.

She formally proposes a "Thunder-Fire Dual Cultivation" practice with you — not the kind you’re thinking of... but not all that different, either. Unlocks the combo skill Thunder Flame Scorching Heavens.

Trigger the special interaction Spiritual Root Resonance in the alchemy chamber. Her thunder-fire spiritual power resonates with yours, granting a temporary 15% boost to all stats for 3 battles.

Yet it is precisely this aloof, noble immortal cultivator with a warm heart beneath her icy exterior who enters your cultivation journey through a fateful, chance encounter.
You first meet in the ancient plum grove deep within the cloud sea of Shushan. She is trapped in a predicament she refuses to explain, and you happen to pass by. What we aimed to create is not a mere "click to increase affection" system task. We want you to truly feel that you are accompanying a person with her own obsessions, scars, and tender moments as you experience each chapter of her story.
Shuangning carries an unspeakable past – one intertwined with the Sword Tomb of White Egret Peak, her late senior brother, and old grudges with the Northern Demon Realm. This past will unfold before you little by little as your bond deepens.
We have written a complete side story for her, designed her exclusive combo battle technique "Frost Silk White Egret Formation", and unlocked the exclusive two-player story dungeon "Profound Ice Abyss: Realm of Shared Crossing" once you become Dao Companions.
Additionally, Shuangning has an exclusive Destiny Bond interaction – "Boiling Snow for Tea": When you share a tea ceremony with her in your immortal abode, she will share stories of her childhood on White Egret Peak in a way she does with no one else.
