Full Steam announcements and update articles for this title.
The debut Chasing Sunsets trading card package includes six badges, eight trading cards, three backgrounds, and five emojis of varying rarity.
Unlock and trade cards for the main character, Lisa, Erica, Amanda, Mallory, Jaye, Lisa, and Tara as you play!
Look for the "update queued" indicator this week too as one more bug fix is going out this weekend that should mitigate a few remaining pathing bugs.
Stone Fox Studios will also be announcing a developer live stream soon, as well as hosting a livestreamed "DIrector's Cut" playthrough with live commentary in the next few weeks. We'll post the details here when they become available.
Keep a weather eye out for the official announcement of our soft sequel "Firebreak!"
The story has come full circle, and now we get to see what's behind the door of the prize the player has chosen over the course of the preceding ten instalments!
Including the three early game endings the player could already earn, the epilogue will highlight the outcomes of the remaining five. (One endng has multiple variations depending on which love interest the player was closest to).
It also paves the way for what comes next for the characters that will carry on into our next project (Tara, Lisa, and more.)
The initial launch was clean, but not completely without flaws. We've issued a day 1 patch (1.10a) that addresses the items players have found to date.
Here are the patch notes for v1.10a:
Corrected path detection algoritm bug that led to some players not having their saves parsed properly.
Fixed continuity error after Day 2 where the judge referred to an evidence mistake as "yesterday" when it was in fact a week ago.
Fixed the script referring to a non-existent music file in Ch4, leading to gray screen.
Fixed Amanda using a contraction in her dream sequences.
Fixed an incorrect variable check where Lisa says she resigned from Polygene when speaking with AG Tom Reynolds.
Fixed several instances where MC's name was assumed to be "Alex" by the script.
Fixed several typos or grammatical issues identified by players and testers.
Updated little refugee girl's name from Gul to Alfire to maintain consistency with the closing credits.
It is our sincere hope that you enjoy our sendoff to the protagonists of Chasing Sunsets and we hope to see all of you back for the next project in this universe that will be a loose sequel to this story with cameos from some of the principle characters.
Thanks again for bearing with us through a grueling development cycle, and we look forward to getting back to work after a little bit of sleep.
Testers are putting the epilogue through its paces and final sound and music integration are underway for the final content update of Chasing Sunsets, with a release to all platforms just days away!
What was originally planned as a mini-update to flesh out the endings in Chapter 9 quickly gained steam (see what I did there?) and became a fat full-fledged chapter. In fact, the total inventory of art and dialogue in the epilogue makes it the single largest update by a significant margin!
This update's goal is to show the player what prizes were waiting for them behind the door they opened at the conclusion of Chapter 9. It explores how the consequences of choices made during the game will infuence the present, near future, and events further down the road.
As we began stitching all of the loose ends together, it quickly became apparent that a full farewell to the central characters was warranted, and so we got to work building a conclusion that brought meaningful closure to each path, while leaving a few doors open to subsequent stories waiting to be told in this universe.
While this announcement will remain spoiler-free (minus the teaser images) I will take a moment to give players an idea of what to expect in the final chapter.
The relationship outcomes for each of the player paths (Single/Jaye/Mallory/Poly/Lisa/Mallory-Amanda Throuple)
The lawsuit going to trial and its outcome
The future direction of Polygene
The further adventures of the player living his best life
The shape of the player's family to come
What ever happened to that wolf the player (might have) rescued?
Did Christian really have a change of heart (if he survived?)
Did Amanda's treatment have any unanticipated side effects?
Whatever happened with that woman from the prologue who tried to set up the player for kidnapping (or worse?)
Have we seen the last of Fiona?
If that ring was on Jaye's finger at the end of Chapter 9, how did it get there?
If you cloned him, does Bandit get his happy ending?
The update will also contain a number of bug fixes from previous chapters, and by popular demand, trading cards will roll out to Steam with this patch!
Additionally, players can look forward to nine new achievements to finish off their collection.
Will this be it for Chasing Sunsets?
I'm happy to say the answer is no! Once the final content update is out and any emergent bugs have been squashed, we will focus on revamping the Prologue and at least Chapter 1 to our state of the art before moving on to our next project.
Kentyrr and I apologize for the length of this development cycle, but in the end we'll hopefully deliver the more substantial conclusion we felt the story merited.
So, keep a weather eye on the horizon..."Update Queued" is days, rather than weeks away!
For those who have been patient, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. For those who haven't, well...We certainly understand and apologize for the wait.
It's nearly over!
