This is our first Early Access Patch Note, which was a little delayed but now includes everything that happened in the first few days after release.
Through the combined efforts of all Carnival Hunt visitors, the new circus Monster, the Sisters, have been awakened after collecting a terrifying 100,000,000 XP in just 48 hours!
What an incredible pace!
While The Sisters are still getting the hang of the circus and there isn't a tutorial for them yet, we invite you to check out our detailed Tips & Tricks
Alongside the Sisters, Carnival Hunt introduced a new status effect for bunnies - "Stunned". While stunned, bunnies are unable to get back up from ragdoll for a short time.
When using the Scissors, the Sisters’ ranged ability, you can simply click LMB to throw them and either grab a bunny that is already down or briefly stun one that is standing.
If you hold LMB and hit a standing bunny, you will need to complete a quick skill check to pull the victim towards you (release LMB in time). If you fail, the target will still be stunned, but only for a very short time.
Scream of Pain is the Nice Sister’s unique ability. It stuns nearby bunnies for an extended period and knocks them away, which can easily send them falling from ledges when used at the right moment.
You can also take advantage of the synergy between the Sisters. Keep the Scissors embedded in a wall by holding LMB, then use Scream of Pain to make them resonate at the point of impact. This will remotely stun and knock back any nearby bunnies.
Mannequin Control is another unique ability, this time belonging to the Evil Sister.
Mannequins spawn in random locations on every floor, waiting to be awakened and given their orders.
In these early iterations (and things will be changing very quickly) controlling mannequins has no cooldown, so you can activate them rapidly even during a chase. Simply aim at a mannequin and press Q.
As soon as a mannequin wakes up, it immediately enters Guard Mode. From there, you can either:
- Set one Guard Point with LMB, telling the mannequin where to stay and protect.
- Set 2–3 Patrol Points with LMB to create a patrol route.
Once the command is ready, confirm it with RMB, and the mannequin will begin carrying it out.
If you already have activated mannequins, pressing Q without aiming at a target will select the most recently activated mannequin, allowing you to issue new commands.
If you have already given commands to a mannequin and want to update them, activating Mannequin Control (Q) again will put the selected mannequin into Guard Mode, where it will wait for new instructions.
If you prepare new instructions but decide not to apply them, simply press Q again, and the mannequin will return to following its previous commands.
Activated mannequins remain under your control indefinitely.
There are countless tactical ways to use them, but here are a few obvious examples:
- Order a mannequin to move to and guard a specific location or passage.
- Even during a chase, you can activate mannequins far ahead of you and send them to block an escape route.
- Patrolling mannequins can move between several points, allowing them to cover a much larger area.
In these first iterations, mannequins are still fairly weak, but very soon they will receive three aggression modes:
Passive — follows the assigned patrol route and ignores everything around it.
Aggressive — follows the patrol route, but may break away and begin chasing Rabbits that pass nearby.
Highly Aggressive — patrols its assigned route while actively searching for Rabbits at range. Even if Rabbits attempt to slip past across open areas, the mannequin will begin the hunt.
Basic Differences Between the Sisters and the Magician:
- Due to their unusual body structure, including two torsos and two left legs, the Sisters move noticeably slower. However, most action-related movement penalties simply do not apply to them. For example, using the Scissors does not slow you down at all, unlike the Magician when using his Hat Trick. Carrying a Rabbit corpse in your hands as a projectile also comes with no movement speed penalty, which is another major strength of the Sisters.
- Activating and commanding mannequins requires no cooldown, consumes no energy, and does not lock you out of other actions.
- The Sisters perform their grab from left to right.
- The Sisters move almost on their tiptoes, making significantly less noise while moving.
- Soon, you will also be able to use abilities without having to strictly switch between them first. This will make it possible to combine abilities more freely and handle multiple actions at once, allowing experienced players to push the Sisters' potential even further.
Using the Small Mirror, the Sisters move around the circus in a similar way to the Magician.
However, instead of becoming invisible, the Sisters leave behind a mannequin when they teleport. You can return to this mannequin later through a Large Mirror or by using the same ability again.
Only one copy can exist on the level at a time. If you teleport to another Large Mirror using the ability, a new copy will be created and the previous one will be destroyed.
To avoid searching through every Large Mirror for your copy, you can press RMB while inside a mirror or while using the Small Mirror. This will automatically teleport you directly to the mannequin you left behind. Keep in mind that some of the Sisters’ mechanics may change as they continue to evolve!

We are aware that some players located in Russia are unable to connect to Carnival Hunt game sessions or lose their connection shortly after joining a match.
Carnival Hunt uses Amazon GameLift. Once a game session has been created, the game client connects directly to the assigned game server using its IP address and port.
Based on the information currently available, the most likely explanation is a routing or traffic-filtering issue somewhere between certain Russian internet providers and AWS infrastructure in Europe. This would explain why the problem affects only some players and may vary depending on their provider, location, and the network route used to reach the server.
However, this remains our current working theory rather than a confirmed root cause. A similar issue involving Russian players and GameLift sessions in the eu-central-1 Frankfurt region has also been reported publicly, but that report alone does not establish the exact cause or confirm any regional restriction by AWS.
We are continuing to investigate the issue and explore possible solutions on our side, including alternative server regions and connection routes. As a temporary workaround, trying another internet connection, a mobile hotspot, or a VPN may help by changing the route to the server, although this is not guaranteed to resolve the problem.
We also have some good news for anyone experiencing issues with consistently high ping: region selection will be added very soon (1-2 days), together with additional servers in US East (N. Virginia) and Asia Pacific (Seoul).
If you need help resolving a specific issue, feel free to contact our support team.
Also, if you encounter any issues while playing the game, you can always leave feedback in the Early Access Feedback on our Discord. This is the best place to report an issue, which we will fix as soon as possible based on its priority!
Carnival Hunt is still in active development, and our small team is working incredibly hard to improve the game and take it to the next level!
The game is constantly being updated, and many critical issues have already been fixed. And we also plan to continue making adjustments on a daily basis and let you focus on enjoying Carnival Hunt instead of fighting frustrating bugs.
And all this is thanks to the feedback and suggestions from so many of you! We truly appreciate the time and effort you put into helping us improve the game! And in the end,
If you’ve played the game, we’d be very grateful if you considered leaving an honest Steam review. Every review matters to us like a piece of a puzzle, helping us see the bigger picture.
Hello, everyone!
The day we have been working toward has finally arrived. Carnival Hunt is now available in Steam Early Access.
Watch the Official Launch Trailer:
We are incredibly excited to finally welcome all of you into the carnival.
Carnival Hunt is a first-person 5v1 asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where five wind-up Bunnies must work together to survive while one player takes control of the Carnival Monster and hunts them through the darkness.
Protect your keys, help your teammates stay wound up, complete your objectives, and find a way out before the Monster catches you.
Bringing Carnival Hunt to Early Access has been a long journey for our team. Throughout development, many of you joined our tests, shared feedback, reported issues, created content, and continued supporting the game while we worked to bring everything together.
We are deeply grateful for the patience and encouragement you have shown us over the years. Reaching this moment would not have been possible without the community that continued believing in Carnival Hunt.
As previously announced, players who enter Carnival Hunt during the first three days after launch will receive the limited Epic Imposter Mask.
Once the three-day launch period ends, the mask will no longer be available, so make sure to visit the carnival before the reward disappears.
Early Access marks the beginning of the next stage of Carnival Hunt’s development. We will continue reviewing your feedback, addressing bugs, improving stability, refining balance, and expanding the game with more content over time.
We want to build the future of Carnival Hunt together with the community, and your experiences during Early Access will help us understand what works, what needs improvement, and where the game should grow next.
Thank you for staying with us throughout this journey. We hope you enjoy your first visit, and we cannot wait to see what happens once the gates open and the hunt begins.
Enter the carnival, protect your keys, and survive the hunt.
Hello, everyone!
Carnival Hunt enters Steam Early Access tomorrow, July 23. To celebrate the opening of the carnival, we have prepared a limited cosmetic reward for players who join us during the first three days.
Enter Carnival Hunt at any point during the first three days after launch to receive the:
- Epic Imposter Mask
This special Bunny Mask will only be obtainable during the opening three-day reward window, so make sure you enter the carnival before it closes.
After a long development journey, we are finally one day away from welcoming everyone into Carnival Hunt. Early Access marks the beginning of a new stage for the game.
We look forward to hearing about your experiences, reviewing your feedback, and continuing to improve Carnival Hunt alongside the community.
Thank you for your patience, encouragement, and support throughout this journey.
We will see you at the carnival.
Hello, everyone!
Carnival Hunt will enter Steam Early Access on July 23, 2026, launching at:
8:00 AM PT | 10:00 AM CT | 11:00 AM ET | 5:00 PM CEST
The game will be available for $19.99 USD, with regional pricing applied depending on your country and currency. To celebrate the launch, Carnival Hunt will also be available with a 10% discount for a limited time.
Carnival Hunt is launching in Early Access, which means you may encounter occasional bugs, balancing issues, or areas that still need further refinement. The core gameplay mechanics are already in place and working, and we have done our best to test and improve the game together with our community ahead of launch.
Early Access is not the full release, but there is already plenty to experience and enjoy. During this stage, we will continue improving stability, refining balance, addressing player feedback, and expanding the game with additional content, including new maps, Monsters, and more. As Carnival Hunt grows with more content and moves closer to its full release, the price may increase. At launch, players will be able to experience two Hunters, along with multiple active, passive, and modifier gear upgrades that allow each character to be customized for different situations and playstyles.
Carnival Hunt takes a different approach to map design than many other games in the asymmetrical horror genre. Instead of using one completely fixed map layout, each match is built from modular blocks called rooms.
At launch, the game will include 32 rooms across several themes. These rooms are procedurally arranged into different layouts, which means the routes through the map, room connections, and the spaces players encounter can vary from one session to another. While the objectives may remain familiar, the changing layout requires players to adapt how they navigate the map, avoid danger, and work together.
Each new room added during Early Access will also expand the pool of possible combinations, allowing the map system to create a wider variety of layouts and situations over time.
We have an ambitious content plan for Early Access, and we currently aim to provide updates at approximately the following pace:
1 to 3 new gear upgrades each month
1 to 4 new rooms each month, depending on their size and complexity
1 new Hunter every 3 to 6 months, with the goal of shortening this development period over time
New PvE experiences every 1 to 2 months
These are development targets rather than fixed promises, and the timing may change depending on testing, technical priorities, and what the game needs most. Alongside new content, we will continue fixing bugs, improving performance, refining balance, and developing the systems already available in the game.
We would also like to share a little more about an experimental feature currently using the working title Bunny Town. It won’t be available upon the game release into Early Access, but this is something that is being planned after the initial release.
Bunny Town is being designed as a shared community space where players can use resources earned from matches to build a small town together with friends and other players. You will be able to develop and decorate your own corner of the town with interior and exterior items, invite friends to visit, and explore spaces created by other members of your community.
The feature is still experimental and will continue evolving during development, but we are excited about its potential to give players something meaningful to build together outside of regular matches.
While we have many ideas for expanding Carnival Hunt, our highest priority throughout Early Access will remain the quality of the core experience. Balance, stability, and fair competition between the two roles will always come first, even within a genre built around intentionally different abilities and objectives.
We are incredibly excited to finally open the carnival to everyone. Whether you have been following the game for years or have only recently discovered it, we hope you will join us, share your feedback, and help us shape the future of Carnival Hunt.
Carnival Hunt would not have reached this point without the people who believed in the project and supported us throughout its development.
As a special thank-you, Kickstarter backers from the Early Carnival Enjoyer tier and above, as well as players who purchased Carnival Hunt through the Crytivo Store, will receive codes by email for two exclusive Bunny cosmetics:
Black Bunny Makeup
White Bunny Makeup
The codes will be sent to the email address connected to your Kickstarter pledge or Crytivo Store purchase, so please keep an eye on your inbox early next week.
These makeups are our way of recognizing the people who helped make Carnival Hunt possible. We truly appreciate your patience, encouragement, feedback, and continued support throughout this journey.
Thank you for being part of Carnival Hunt. We cannot wait to welcome you into the carnival on July 23, and we hope you enjoy the game!
We have some good news to share with you.
We've decided to extend the public playtest a little and give you one more day to try out the game.
Enjoy!
The servers will open soon, and so you don't waste any time, we suggest you learn some of the basic mechanics.
First, let's understand how this place works.
The Carnival is a four-floor structure. Both the Bunnies and the Hunter start on the ground floor. The Bunnies' objective is to progress upward and open the Grand Door on the 4th floor. Escape through it, and you win.
The Hunter's goal is to prevent the Bunnies from reaching the Grand Door. Catch them, eliminate them, or simply slow them down - it all depends on your tactics. Each Bunny has 3 Life Gears. To eliminate a Bunny, you must catch them and throw them three times, damaging one Life Gear with each throw.
Gears are the key to progressing through the Carnival. They're needed for many of the mechanisms on the map. You can find them scattered throughout the map.
Check the Dead Bunnies for useful items. Your top priority is finding a Wind-Up Key. Also, keep an eye out for defensive items such as Firework Rockets, Marbles, and Smoke to help you escape when the Hunter attacks.
Open the gate to reach the objectives or take a shortcut. Smash the “High Striker” to activate the zipline track. Remember: every action you take makes a noise, so be careful.
If you're discovered, use a Firework Rocket, Marbles, or Smoke to create an opening and escape. ...or play dead and hope the hunter doesn't see you.
Learn where important objectives are located and keep a close watch on them. Understanding the key areas of each map is essential for defending them effectively.
Your primary objective is to catch the Bunnies while preventing them from progressing.
Always search captured Bunnies for Wind-Up Keys. Taking their keys prevents them from charging teammates and activating objectives that require keys.
Ticketman are scattered throughout the Carnival. Activate them in important locations to strengthen your control over key areas.
Place your Impostor Bunnies in strategic locations to catch unsuspecting Bunnies by surprise. Impostor Bunnies act as traps, grabbing and holding a Bunny in place for a few seconds, giving you time to close the distance and secure the catch.
Just a reminder: for the next 3 days, you can get unique cosmetic items that will remain in your account forever. These hats will no longer be available after that.
The carnival opens one more time before Early Access, and we’d love to see you there. Our final open playtest for Carnival Hunt runs from July 3 to July 6. This is the last open chance to jump in, play with others, and share your feedback with us before Early Access begins on July 23, 2026.

We can't wait to welcome you to the Carnival on July 23, 2026.
See you soon,
The Carnival Hunt Team
It has been a while since our last major update, and we want to thank everyone for their patience, excitement, and continued support. A lot has been happening behind the scenes, and the team has been working hard to prepare Carnival Hunt for Early Access.
Over the past weeks, Carnival Hunt has received many improvements across stability, gameplay, UI, optimization, and the overall player experience. While not every improvement is flashy on its own, each step helps make the game smoother, clearer, and more ready for everyone who enters the Carnival.🫡
Some of the recent work includes improvements and fixes for player profiles, gears, custom lobbies, controller support, lobby behavior, gameplay menus, and several stability issues. The team has also been working on optimization, balance adjustments, UI improvements, and general polish across different areas of the game.
We do not want to go too deep into every balance change or gameplay adjustment just yet, as some things may still change before Early Access. However, the overall focus is clear: improving the player experience, polishing core systems, fixing issues, and making sure Carnival Hunt is in a stronger state for launch.
The Steam page has also been updated with new screenshots, including screenshots from winners of our past community event. We love seeing the community participate and help shape how Carnival Hunt is presented to new players.
Early Access is getting closer, and while we are not rushing the process, the team is actively preparing for the next big step. Right now, the focus is on making the Steam Early Access launch as smooth as possible. We do not have console release details to share just yet, but we know many of you are interested, and we will share more when the time is right. Something important is also coming soon.
Keep your eyes peeled for June 7th at: - 9:10 AM PT - 12:10 PM ET - 5:10 PM BST - 6:10 PM CEST - June 8th, 1:10 AM JST - June 8th, 2:10 AM AEST You will be able to watch it during IGN Live on Twitch We recommend arriving at least 10 minutes early so you don’t miss it. Carnival Hunt is once again opening its servers for another round of Сlosed Alpha Testing.
⚠️The next Alpha Test will take place from August 18, 08:00 (UTC) to August 25, 08:00 (UTC)!
Unfortunately, because of the problems encountered in the last tests with some players' misbehavior, we have adapted our roadmap and introduced the following features:
It will work in a compromise mode to maintain matchmaking speed and separate experienced players from newbies. This will allow everyone to enjoy the game to the fullest.
Will allow players to send reports on game rule breakers. The system is still in development, but already accounts for abuse of the system. Each player will have a limited number of reports they can send, to reduce the amount of indiscriminate and frivolous reports.
You can now turn on and off the text chat filter and mute players who are bothering you. You can mute a player so that the message is not displayed in the text chat, to not hear the proximity chat, and also to not see the ping of the player.
Allows you to add players to a blacklist. Players added to the blacklist will no longer be caught by you in the lobby.
Previously, any player, if they didn't like something, could just end the game and ruin the game for others. Now there will be a penalty to the search time, which accumulates with each following early exit from the game. Bunnies can only leave the game if:
The bunny has been killed.
The bunny is fully discharged and at least 10 minutes of gameplay have passed.
In addition to social systems, we will be experimenting with speeding up gameplay and have therefore made the following changes:
Bunny and Magician movement speed increased by ~15%.
The speed of the bunny getting up has been sped up significantly to keep things dynamic,
Some "slow" animations have been sped up by 20%,
Game session time will now be 25 min main session and 5 min end phase.
