Community members! We are taking part in a very special sale this week. It’s a one week sale only, during which a few selected World War 2 Games will be on a discount. This week also marks 81 years since the end of the war.
Whether you like it realistic or not, the World War 2 theme will always be represented in every generation of games. This war will always keep fascinating the world, and gamers are no exception there. It’s only fitting to choose this week, marking 81 years of freedom, to have this themed sale. Original image by \Rizzler In real frontline life, it was more like being dragged to the Gates of Hell - which is exactly why we named our game the way we did. In Call to Arms - Gates of Hell, we have incorporated as much realism as possible. Detailed recreations of the actual battlefields are just one part of that.
This week it is 81 years since the end of the bloodiest conflict the world has ever seen. In the Soviet Union alone, around 25 million people lost their lives - over one third of this war’s estimated 70 million casualties. Never forget that the freedom we know today was paid for in blood. Whether you celebrate the end of World War 2 in Europe on the 5th, the 8th or the 9th of May doesn’t matter too much. The USSR, USA and Commonwealth (and many other countries) - together - defeated Nazism, that's what matters.
We will have this sale for exactly one week, in which you’ll be able to treat yourself to some serious replay value. The discount is up there, and we expect many players will be looking to complete their collection. If you buy the bundle, you can get an additional 10% discount: P.S.: If you are indeed new to the game, we recommend you join the official Discord by clicking on the banner below, in case you have questions. You’re also welcome there if you just want to discuss the theme “World War 2”. You will find some 39K like-minded gamers right there! Community Art by ArontheBaron
The bundle contains a total of over 1000 tanks and vehicles
It also contains 90+ single player missions and skirmishes
All of our single player missions can be played in co-op as well

That’s it for now, see you on the battlefield!
Community members! Because we’ll be taking part in the Steam Spring Sale, we think today is a really good moment to bring some QoL changes to Call to Arms - Gates of Hell. We have several changes lined up, and now it’s time for you to try them! Of course, and as usual, we have set up an Open Beta for you. The Beta will become the live version when the Spring sale starts.
‘Auto Vaulting’: Infantry can now jump over fences, low walls, and will do so automatically when following movement orders
'Manual Vaulting': While directly controlling a human, either in classic direct control or 3rd person, you can now use a keybind to jump over fences and small walls
In Conquest, operation size ‘unlimited’ has been removed. You can still go unlimited by selecting "next operation” at the end of a campaign in order to keep your assets, veterancy and research. This way, you avoid playing on the same handful of maps with increasing amounts of persistent damage.
These are just a few of the many changes and fixes in the new version. If you prefer more detail, check out the Change Log we released. The changelog also contains an important message for mod creators. Vaulting in action. Screenshot courtesy of @Cheezy
To join the beta, you only need to switch your game to the beta version. When the beta becomes the live version, you don’t need to do anything at all to reverse the process. If you do want to be among the first to try these changes, go to your Steam library, right-click on the game, select properties - Game Versions & Betas- open beta. Done! You can switch back to the current version at any time, using the same process.
We’re already in full swing to produce the next DLC, and you can expect to get more news this spring when we update our roadmap for 2026 and beyond. As soon as we have that sorted, we will share it with you.
In June, it will have been 5 years since the release of “Ostfront.”
The release came after a Beta that lasted 3 months
Its content amount has roughly doubled since
It’s still Barbedwire Studios’ first and only game
That’s it for now, enjoy the Open Beta! Which DLCs will you be wishlisting for the sale? Let us know in the comments!
