Hello everyone! Bread & Fred just got BIGGER with The Laboratory Update, bringing tons of new challenges and surprises!

• A new parallel map with +600 more meters
• New map mechanics
• New NPcs and lore to discover
• New secret zones & puzzles

And that's not all... Bread & Fred is coming to PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S this spring! The update is FREE for all players! To unlock the new Laboratory event, you’ll need to complete the base game first, so grab your friend or partner and start climbing again!

The Christmas update is now available in Bread & Fred! This year you can also find a magical Christmas tree in the first map that grows as you find presents and deliver them. 🎄🎁 When you manage to complete this mission, you will receive a surprise reward in the game. Something you will love if you like Christmas clothes. 🎅 This special event will be available from December 22 until January 6, 2025 on both Steam and Nintendo Switch. So get comfy with your partner or friend, turn on the tree lights (virtual and real) and start your Christmas adventure! This is the first time you will be able to enjoy Halloween in Bread & Fred! During the whole month of October, there will be an update for the game. You will find a new event inside the main penguins' house. Remember that the house is located down and to the left of the first map. It is the igloo of Bread and Fred. Once there, you will see that strange things are happening in the bed, so if you interact with it, you will activate the Halloween event. 👻 You will arrive at a terrifying mansion where some of the game's most popular characters are waiting for you. Here, Greg will ask you to resolve a mistery like good penguin detectives! In addition, the penguins of New Beakville have decorated the town and Zone 1 of the game with cute pumpkins to celebrate Halloween. 🎃 We hope you enjoy this little event. We are still working on more game content to thank you for all the support you have given us during all this time. Happy Halloween to all! 🐧🐧

We've made some changes on how we establish player connections so it should give less errors/problems. Please let us know if you're still finding issues

New update fixing some bugs! Here is the full list: - You couldn't select a character after opening the assist menu - You couldn't play after letting the game opened for a long time - Random "wrong code" error while typing the code - Getting all singleplayer skins didn't unlock the achievement (you should obtain it if you re-enter the game) - The multiplayer pop-up now works with mouse - You could still hear the main menu song in single player - You couldn't close the Fanart painting in online Please let us know if more bug appear, we'll keep working on the game and solving everything we can

Thus, you can customize your profile and show off your great skill playing the most difficult penguin game! Who is your favorite character?

Last week we updated the game, adding Time trials and new achievements! (Not without breaking some things in the process though...) But it should all be fixed now! - Stuck in listening while trying to change a control! - The initial logos were missing - If you unlocked the achievements before the update, now they should pop up in Steam - Updated also Mac version so you can now play with Mac people Hopefully, this solves all big issues, if you find anything else, please let us know! Today we celebrate Bread & Fred's 1 year anniversary!!!!! Together with the Nintendo Switch port, we made some changes and have some new stuff to show you Meet Pol! Our new big and friendly NPC. He'll race you in a series of challenging and difficult time trials and you'll need to beat his times! Will you be able to beat him? Or even better! Will you be able to get all medals and prove to Pol and the rest of the village, that you're the one and only CLIMBING MASTER! Enjoy Bread & Fred with this new way to test your abilities and check your coordination with your partner! Hey everyone! While we are working on some big special things you all are waiting for (and some other secret stuff), we decided to incorporate some new languages to the range we already have in Bread & Fred! We think it is important that everyone can enjoy the game in their own language, so all of us at Sand Castles want to embrace and recognise the identity a language has for their users. So, we are adding: Polish, Turkish and Latin American Spanish! In total we have 13 languages including: English, European Spanish, Catalan, French, Italian, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean and NOW Polish, Turkish, Spanish (LATAM) For now we are putting a pause on more localization, but what other languages are you guys missing?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone! For this special time, we prepared a new mission for our little penguins. This time, you will have to help them gather all the presents lost in the friendly foothills and put them near the only tree left. Who knows, maybe a Christmas miracle will happen then! We also wanted to thank you all for this amazing year. 2023 has been wild for us and has changed our lives completely, and a big part of that is because of you and your support for our raging penguin game. It's been quite difficult to know what was the problem, since some players experienced connections issues, others have an extreme ping and in general it wasn't a consistent problem to solve immediately, so we need to solve this ASAP. We are working on a mini-rework on the online system that probably will solve a lot of these issues (we hope so at least) and we hope to launch this fix very soon, we just need a little bit of patience. We know Bread & Fred relies heavily on the multiplayer aspect, and we hate that some of you aren't having a good experience with it. Don't worry, we are aware of these problems, and we are doing everything in our hands. If you want this fix to be sooner, you can help us out explaining exactly what connection/lag issues you have and not only "online works bad", that way we can attack the specific problem and not take a shot in the dark, as most people play the game just fine. Thank you everyone for your patience, I know you love the game as much as we do, so stay tuned for the online patch soon.

We're excited to participate in the Tiny Teams event this year! Tiny Teams is an awesome event put together by Yogscast that highlights games made by small teams like ours. WE NEED YOUR HELP

Hi everyone! First of all, sorry for the inconvenience you've found during the online release. We're still working on them and we'll fix all the issues as soon as possible. We've been tracking down a pretty annoying bug where you couldn't join your friend's games. We've done a couple of things to solve this, but we're not 100% sure if it's fixed. So please, we need you to let us know if you're still experiencing some issues while connecting with your friends. But for now, here are a bunch of other fixes! - You couldn't join your friend's game! (We don't know if this issue is completely fixed, but we've added a couple of things to help us track down the problem in case it persists. So please, let us know if you're still having issues) - Sometimes you weren't able to jump on local games - ] When pulling rope while your partner was anchored, you could move them. - Some disappearing walls weren't properly loading - Charlie kept coming even though you already completed the tutorial - If you tried to grab on ice, you'll get teleported to the start of the map - Players' Steam Icons didn't show on the host screen when joining We're still working hard on improving the game's experience and fixing all bugs, so if you found anything, please let us know on Steam's forums.

The Together But Further update is live now, featuring online multiplayer! This update includes:

• Online P2P multiplayer
• 5 skins for single-player, unlocked by collecting them
• New and improved Speedrun Mode! Now you can create a new "Speedrun File", with quality of life features based on the feedback of speedrunners

It's been a couple of weeks since the release of Bread & Fred and we wanted to do one last bug-fixing update (Unless somehow I screwed up and broke the game in other ways) before the Online patch. We've focused on major glitches that broke the experience, but expect more small fixes in future updates. Here are the fixes: Sometimes you slide out of minecarts if you were really close to the edge Getting the “Robot precision” achievement when loading a checkpoint Random ground splashes when jumping 2 count-downs appeared in some specific places on the map Purple screen when starting a new game sometimes (Should be fixed, hopefully) Penguins sometimes learned to fly Please let us know if you still experience some of those bugs or new ones!

Hi everyone! First of all, thank you so much for buying Bread & Fred! We really appreciate all the support the game is receiving. We're still working on other stuff that is taking a lot of time from us, but we wanted to quickly do an update to fix some of the bigger issues people had. Sometimes the screen was black when playing singlePlayer mode Getting stuck in the secret fall on the mines Steams achievements not unlocking immediately Destructible blocks sound, reproducing a lot of times We are aware of some more bugs and we'll try to get them fixed as soon as we can. The team has worked so hard over the last few months in preparation for release. We're thrilled to finally get the full game in your hands. Hello everyone! Until the peer-2-peer online multiplayer mode releases in our summer update, the current method to play online is via Steam's Remote Play function. Here are some notes that will fix some common problems we see and get you climbing the mountain with your friend! 1. After starting the game with Remote Play, press Shift+Tab to open the Steam interface. There you'll be able to see a list of your friends to invite. 2. To avoid running into issues where one play cannot use the keyboard to play, make sure you allow them access by clicking the right option by their name. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40377537/e60dea129827024c66413d9e928337cc93c81338.jpg When using Remote Play, there can be a delay or a performance loss depending on the distance between you and your chosen partner. We've heard all of your requests and we can say that we've been working on Online for quite a while now. We've been working really hard to create the best experience for the game, but we're not quite there yet.

So, quick answers:

WILL BREAD & FRED HAVE ONLINE?

Yes

WILL ONLINE BE AVAILABLE ON LAUNCH?

No Peer-2-Peer multiplayer mode will not quite be ready upon the game's release on May 23rd. We hope to have it ready by the next content update (which should be out during the month of June!). In the meantime, Steam itself provides a "Remote Play Together" mode that works pretty well in most cases, assuming the two players are not more than a few hundred miles apart. And of course, the game supports two-player mode from the same PC.

Why is it taking so long?

We're a small team of developers and online multiplayer is always a challenge! But for Bread & Fred it's an even bigger monster. While on most games you can allow for some lag within the players, in Bread & Fred, each action of one player directly affects the other (changing his position, velocity, rotation...) that makes creating a smooth experience much harder as a bit of lag from one end can cause a massive changes in game physics for both players. We don't feel comfortable with the current state of P2P multiplayer and we don't want to deliver a laggy and unfinished experience. That's why we've come to a decision of delaying it a bit and having this extra month to really polish it and ship the online multiplayer experience that the game deserves. We hope to have P2P working soon! Thanks for understanding!
