Hey everyone!
Update 1.0 is here! There's a lot packed into here with some rather large updates so let's just get started with the rundown.
Multiplayer has come to Bookshop Simulator! Up to 4 people can play in a game. Multiplayer works through Steam's normal multiplayer handling APIs so you can join games your friends are in through your Steam friend's list or invite others directly to join. Certain benchmarked things will change based on how many players are in the game to help keep things a little balanced (what levels employees unlock at and what level certain buildables like checkout counters become available). Certain features have also been added and/or reworked to help make sure players aren't bored with nothing to do.
A new location is now available! The Cotswolds is a cozy area set with a snowy atmosphere. The shop itself features two stories with a nice balcony overlooking the part of the first floor, and a decent sized storage room in the back left. Much like Paris and Yamanashi, you can choose the order in which you buy the stores so you can purchase it as your second store right after Lyon for 3k bleps or if you're further along and have all 3 other stores already, you can purchase your 4th store for 300k bleps.
Alongside The Cotswolds, a new item type has arrived - Magazines! Magazines are unlocked once The Cotswolds store reaches store level 12. 5 new magazines have been added for the initial batch and work like other licensed products (IE, books, manga, comics). A magazine bookshelf has been added to the DepotMax app to display magazines for sale.
Not enough customers for your liking? Your friend dragged you into their store but you don't feel like stocking shelves anymore? A flyer stand can now be purchased in the DepotMax app once any shop level is at least 5. This will allow you to grab some flyers and hand them out to passerby on the streets to try to coax more customers in. Not all customers will choose to enter after taking a flyer but there's a decently high chance.
Recommending items has been reworked to be a bit easier. Instead of chasing customers down, a customer service desk can now be purchased in the DepotMax app once any shop level is at least 8. The customer service desk can be placed anywhere in your shop and will act as a go-to point for customers seeking book recommendations. Up to 5 customers will queue to get a book recommendation at a time. The customer service desk, like the checkouts, can also be closed if you wish for customers to not ask for book recommendations anymore.
Both Lyon and Yamanashi have been expanded!
Many people requested that Lyon be made a little larger and while our intent was to have Lyon be a fairly tiny starter store that deliberately could not store everything the game would eventually contain, we have decided to expand it and give people a little more space. Lyon has had 1 store upgrade space added to fill in the spot next to the front door and is gaining 3 storage room spaces to the back of the store.
Yamanashi has also had a storage upgrade. There is now an outbuilding to the left of the main store that contains a total of 6 storage expansion spaces with the first unlock giving you the first two.
A new, more powerful versions of legendary books has come - Mythical books. These are more powerful versions of Legendary books which can be displayed like normal Legendary books for benefits. Mythical books are only available in a specific Mythical used box that can be bought in the BooksNMore app like other used book boxes once player level 50 is reached. Mythical used book boxes are much more expensive than regular used book boxes.
To help make use of these powerful new books, a new 3 slot legendary display is available as well. This means that you can now have 6 different legendary/mythical powerups active at the same time.
This update also brings a few new content items other than the new Magazines and mythical books. 5 new books, 2 board games, and a new cafe item are coming as well.
As usual, we always try to add some quality of life improvements and bugfixes. You can find a change log below of the changes, though a lot was entangled with the multiplayer reworking so I'm probably missing some entries in the changelog
As we said in the last update notes, we will be raising the price a couple of dollars to $19.99 USD. We had intended to do so at the 1.0 launch and provide a launch discount but unfortunately we cannot raise the price for 1.0 and provide a launch discount at the same time. We're going to follow Valve's recommended suggestion on this and allow it to stay at the EA price for 30 days following our transition to 1.0 to allow us to run a launch discount for you all and then the price will raise to the 1.0 pricing.
Finally, we want to thank all of you that have joined us through the Early Access journey. It's been a wonderful (if incredibly stressful sometimes) experience. For those that are just joining in, welcome! As we said in the last update, this is not the end of updates for Bookshop Simulator. Future updates will be coming down the pipeline including more items, expanding workshop support, another new location, and more. We look forward to what you all will create and share and we'll be back with the next update!

Hello everyone!
We're excited to announce that we are planning to release out of Early Access on July 20th! You can check out our teaser trailer here:
1.0 is coming with a few large things - up to 4 player multiplayer, the first new location, a new item type, and more!
As we mentioned in the last update, multiplayer is officially coming to Bookshop Simulator! Multiplayer will work through Steam's API, meaning you can join your friends with a simple invite or right click in your friend's list on Steam. Up to 4 players can join in on the fun together!
We're introducing our first new location - The Cotswolds, England. This is a scenic location in a snowy atmosphere that features a new unique layout with a second story with open areas looking down on the first floor and a dedicated storage space in the back.
Magazines are a new item type that is coming alongside the Cotswolds. They will function much like our other book-like item types such as comics and manga. They will be unlocked in the Cotswolds and will require a license for each title.
As part of our release to 1.0, the price will be going up slightly. We will be taking part in the SimFest Workers and Resources festival from July 20-27 and will have a discount running during that time. As for saves, all saves from the Early Access build will be fully compatible with the 1.0 release version so no need to restart if you don't want to.
Throughout our Early Access lifecycle, we've been hard at work bringing more content and features to the game. Some were ones that we've had in mind since the beginning, others were some that evolved with the community's involvement.
Here's a non-exhaustive list of things that we've added since the beginning of Early Access (not including what is in 1.0):
- Handheld scanner
- Holiday decorations for Halloween and Valentine's Day
- Genre-specific bookshelves
- Hanging signs
- Wall posters for books
- New plants
- Cafe with coffee and pastries for customers
- Cafe employees
- Steam workshop support for books and children's books
- Custom books in-game for both normal and new special books
- Customizable Lights
- Customizable storefronts
- Item teleporter for moving objects between locations
- Additional decorative furniture
- Update rare/used books
- Passive income improvements
- Over 30 new books
- Over 12 new legendary books
- Tons of wall and flooring options
- Tons of Quality of Life improvements
Just because we're moving out of Early Access does not mean that this is the end of the road for Bookshop Simulator. We wanted to keep the Early Access period relatively short and not languish in Early Access for years. We've still got things in the works that we'll be working on and bringing to the game.
We want to thank everyone that has joined us during the Early Access period. Your feedback and support has been amazing! We're looking forward to showing you guys everything in 1.0 and appreciate you all for joining!
Hey everyone!
Update 0.13 is now live! This update brings a bunch of new legendary books, updates to rare and used books, passive income changes, and more!
Nine new legendary books have been added. All of these legendaries are sporting new power-ups for you to experiment with and combo together. These range from doubling store/player exp, more end of day triggered powers with special conditions, increased chances for getting rares and legendaries, and a more fun one that I won't spoil here.
New used and rare books have been added to bring the full list up to date with all official books at the moment. Used books have also gotten a facelift. They will now use the normal book texture but will appear damaged. Used children's books will retain the old color based material for the moment, but may change in the future as well.
Snapping has been improved for certain buildables, mostly centering around cafe buildables. When looking at the side of a cafe buildable (counter, display, coffee holder, etc.), the system will now center on the counter collider rather than the entire build outline collider. This should make it much easier to snap differing sized cafe buildables together in a logical fashion.
Passive income has had a bit of an overhaul - not with how much it grants you, but in the way it grants you passive income. The same rules still apply. You will still need a manager and a manager's desk at each location that you are NOT at in order to receive passive income from that other location. However, instead of it running a simulation and granting you a lump sum at the end of the day, this will now occur on an hourly basis. Each hour, on the hour, a simulation will run for the past hour for every location but your current one. It will then immediately grant you that hour's passive income and will pop up a new purple currency indicator that shows how much you received from each location. The end of the day screen will still show the total for the end of the day but will more clearly show that it is passive income. As an added bonus, used books and cafe items have now also been added to the passive income simulation and will work like other items, being bought a la carte.
In other news, we are getting ready to test a very large new feature to the game that will have an impact on virtually everything - Multiplayer. We want to make sure we've caught and fixed as many issues as we can before releasing to the general public so we're looking for some additional people to hop in early and help us find things. If you'd like to help us out, come hop into our Discord where we'll be sharing more information soon.

Hello everyone!
Update 0.12 is now live! This update includes new customization options for lights and storefronts, some NPC tweaks/improvements, an empty box dispenser, an item teleporter, more memory optimizations, and more!
Lights can now be customized with options for light color and intensity. Simply click on a lighting fixture you've placed with the customizable spray paint item and you will be given a choice of colors, intensity, and lamp colors. Yes, this means that there are now customizable options for the fixture as well as the light itself.
The storefronts of Paris and Lyon are now able to be customized. Wall color, Pillar color, and Awning color are able to be changed.
This can be used to take virtually anything you can pick up between stores. The teleporter can be found in the DepotMax app and is unlocked at Player Level 35. Once placed in your store, you can pick up pretty much anything and deposit it into the teleporter. Items can then be retrieved from it from any placed teleporter item, either in the same store for efficiency or in other stores to transport items between them. The teleporter works as a stack so the last item you put in will be the first item you will get back out when you retrieve an item.
There is now an easy way to get any kind of empty box you would like. No more need to keep a corner full of empty boxes! The box dispenser can be found in the DepotMax app and is unlocked at Player Level 16. Once placed down, you can pull boxes from the sections on top for all different sizes of boxes: small, medium, large, and pastry from left to right.
We've included a new special bookcase for Children's books available at Shop Level 29. This works just like the other special bookcases and gives a slight boost to Children's books.
A few things to note on NPC improvements and tweaks this update. Customers walking speed has been slowed down by about 20%. This is to help it feel less like a constant rush of people running around after a lot of feedback that they feel too fast.
In order to help spread queue balance for checkouts, there is now a new system in place to balance queues. If you or an employee checks out the last customer in a queue, the system will look for the largest queue and pull the second customer in line over to the empty checkout queue line. This can be stopped by closing the register before the customer is done checking out.
Customer expressions have been tweaked a bit and material issues that were causing their teeth and mouths to be entirely black is now fixed.
Customers who sit in the antique chairs will now pull out a book if they've picked one up instead of just sitting there.
As usual, we've also included other fixes and Quality of Life improvements. A full changelog is below
Added:
- Customizable Lights.
- New wall lamp. This one includes slightly more customization
- Customizable Storefronts for Lyon and Paris.
- Cashiers will now pull the next waiting customer from the longest line that isn't theirs if their line has emptied to balance queue lines. This will also work for player cashiers.
- New special Childrens bookcase.
- Posters may now be placed on outside windows.
- Item Teleporter. A new item placed anywhere in any city that can hold practically any item. Put another teleporter in another location to move items from one location to another. This works as a stack so you'll retrieve the last thing you put in first.
- Empty Box Dispenser. A new item to get empty boxes whenever you'd like. No need to stockpile them in the back anymore!
- Ability to delete book workshop special books.
- Books N'More now shows how many available licenses you have
Changed:
- Memory improvements for all items (books, candy, bookmarks, board games, etc.), workshop items, and customizables (furniture and floors/walls).
- Steam Workshop item materials loaded on demand instead of preloading on launch.
- Newly spawned customers will walk ~20% slower
- Spawning cooldown for NPCs reduced slightly to compensate for slower walking speeds
- Customers who elect to sit in reading chairs will now pull out one of their books if they've picked any up
- All rugs are now placeable in storage areas
- Coffee hotkey changed to right click so you can make new coffee while holding one in your hand
Fixed:
- Steam Workshop books will now count for related achievements. These should be updated when the relevant action is performed next (unlock a license, purchase, etc.)
- NPC teeth/mouths are no longer super dark.
- Potential race condition with customizable material setting on load eliminated
- App showing wrong number of pastries per box
- Rare case when editing book workshop duplicated a book
- Potentially fix the one frame fallthrough when opening furniture
Fixed:
- Certain settings should now properly persist
- Geometry issue in Paris that may have caused rare crashes on load
- Cafe pastries will sell properly when set to lower markups and chance for customers to want pastries increased
- Reduced icon sizes that were unnecessarily large
Hello everyone!
Update 0.11 is now live! This update brings Custom Books!
Custom books can be made at the new Book Workshop. The Book Workshop is unlocked at Player Level 25 and can be found in the Hardware App. The Book Workshop has three main features: Normal books, Special books, and Recycling.
Upon interacting with the Book Workshop, you will be able to choose whether to create a new normal book or a new special book. You may also edit any existing custom books you've already created by selecting them in the shelves of the Book Workshop when in the Book Workshop.
Normal custom books are just like standard books in the game. Normal books will allow you to choose from a selection of covers, font types, font layouts for title and author, and font colors. Once you have created a normal book, you will need to buy its license in the Book App.
Special books, as the name implies, are a more special version of the normal custom books. These cost much more to create, but are worth significantly more. In addition to everything that normal custom books allow you to choose, Special Books also allow you to select different looking pages, an optional locking clasp with several options, and optional edge or corner accessories. Special books can also have their value increased by recycling.
Rare and Legendary books that you do not wish to sell may be fed into the Book Workshop and recycled to increase the value of your next created Special Book.
New graphics settings have been put in to help less powerful computers. The following options have been added:
Texture Quality (Default: High, lowering reduces memory and graphics requirements)
Shadow Quality (Default: High, lowering reduces graphics requirements)
Shadow Cascades (Default: 4, lowering reduces number of shadow calculations on GPU)
Volumetric Fog (Default: On, more realistic fog, turning off reduces GPU usage)
Reflection Probes (Default: On, more realistic reflections, turning off reduces GPU usage)
By popular demand, we've added the ability to close registers (both normal and cafe). Once a register is closed, the customer at the counter will remain and finish being checked out but anyone else in queue will exit that register's queue and look for another. Employees will finish checking any customer out and then unassign themselves from that register, either waiting if no other register is available or going to the next available open register.
We've heard everyone's feedback and appreciate it. This is the first step in making our NPCs a little less robot-like and a little more alive. Customers should be a little more expressive now with facial expressions for certain actions and will react a bit more to you by looking and reacting to you if you're nearby and in front of them.
Added:
- Book Workshop used to make custom and special books, found in the hardware app at Level 25.
- Custom books: All custom books will allow you to choose from a select set of covers, font types, font layouts, and font colors.
- Special books: Special books can be created in the Book Workshop and are higher value than standard custom books. Special books can have accessories like a locking clasp and metal edges in addition to the normal custom book options.
- Book recycling: Rares and Legendaries may be recycled at the Book Workshop to increase the value of your next Special book.
- New graphics settings: Texture Quality, Volumetric Fog, Shadow Quality, and Reflection Probes
- Posters for Steam Workshop books.
- Ability to close registers: the customer at the counter will remain to finish checking out but any others will leave the checkout queue
Changed:
- Steam Workshop mod textures will automatically be forced to a max of 2048 and will be affected by the Texture Quality graphics setting.
- More optimization for memory and graphics
- NPC Liveliness: Customers are now a little more expressive with facial expressions for certain actions. They will also react to you just being around a bit more.
- Cafe employee hiring levels reduced
- Modified some NPC movement code to add some additional stuck prevention
Fixed:
- Cafe pastries priced at or below market price will no longer not sell. Note: Not every customer will want a pastry still
- Unsubscribed Workshop Items will no longer cause issues at the end of day for other stores
- Japan sliding doors no longer stop working
Hello everyone,
We've got a few minor fixes and improvements that we didn't want to hold until the next larger update for workshop related items. Due to the popularity of the workshop and a lot of people wanting to bring a lot of workshop items into existing saves, we've decided to do a quick re-balance on license grants. Up until Player Level 49, licenses will work exactly as they have before - 3 starting licenses at level 1 and an additional license every level until 49. At level 50, you will now receive 2 licenses per level. This is retroactive and will be applied to all players at or above level 50 so if you are above level 50, you will have more licenses available on starting your save. Short changelog of the full changes is below:
Change Log V0.10.1050:
Changed:
- Changed license grants - Player level 50 and up will now grant 2 licenses rather than 1
Fixed:
- Box label icons will now be the same size regardless of texture size for workshop items - Unsubscribing from a workshop item will no longer cause a hang on load in certain circumstances
- Brushing Scammed power can now choose from workshop books as well as in-built books you have unlocked
Change Log V0.10.1046
Fixed:
- Recommended items will ring up at set price now rather than market price
- Stocking Helper Outlines not showing up for some users
- Modded childrens books showing 0 price in UI
- Modded icons being too small on box labels
- Modded books not counting against licenses and tutorial
Thanks for playing and we appreciate the 80+ custom books up on the workshop already!
We are happy to announce we are bundling with Retro Rewind for a discount on both games. We really enjoyed their demo and are very excited to bundle with another high quality game by an indie team.
Check out the bundle here:Retro Rewind + Bookshop Simulator bundle
Hello everyone!
Update 0.10 is now live! This update brings Workshop modding support!
For now, this is limited to normal books and children's books but has been built in a way that we can open it up to other item types (candy, manga, board games, etc.) in the future. We've put up an example workshop item for those that want to immediately try it out!
To do so, simply visit the Workshop area here (https://steamcommunity.com/app/3467040/workshop/). Anything that looks interesting to you on the Workshop can be subscribed to which will cause Steam to download it for you, ready for the next time you play. Once you're in the game, anything you've subscribed to and downloaded will be automatically loaded into the game and will be ready for purchase just like any other license or item. Modded items will appear at the bottom of the list as they're loaded after the in-built data so you may have to scroll down to see them.
If you're on the more creative side (or not!) and would like to try putting up your own Workshop item, we've created a new tool to help do that, make sure everything is set up the right way, and make it as easy as we can.
This tool is called the "Bookshop Simulator Workshop Tool" and can be found in your Steam library already if you filter for Tools or search by name. You will need to create the textures you want in outside programs but this will allow you to fill in the necessary data, verify it, and upload it. We've provided template files for you to understand how the textures are laid out and what parts are where which can be accessed by clicking the "Open Template Folder" on the main menu in the tool. We'll be putting a more thorough guide up shortly walking through the tool itself for those interested.
To be clear, this is not the Custom Books feature that we've been teasing on the main menu. That is an in-game option that is intended to be easier for people and will be coming shortly as we've been working on that simultaneously. This is opening the door for creators to create their own fully custom books and share with the community.
We've included a few Quality of Life improvements with this build as well, including new settings for autosaving, new settings for the stocking helper outline, app sorting persistence, and more. There's also several fixes as usual.

Hello everyone!
Update 0.9 is now live! This update brings the second part of the cafe update including employees, new variations for the cafe furniture, achievements, quality of life improvements, bug fixes, and more! A full change log is at the end.
Cafe employees are here! The cafe employees work slightly different from normal employees as they're exclusive to the cafe. You can find them in the Cafe app under the new Employees tab. They will work the cash register for the cafe for you, including pouring coffee and fetching pastries from display cases.
A couple of counter variations have been added to the cafe to help customize your cafe look better. In addition to the standard variation from Part 1, two more have been added with matching furniture for coffee machines and display cases.
A coffee holder has also been put in to help store coffee in between pouring coffee and serving it to customers. This is also available with the above counter variations. Cafe employees will prefer serving customers with coffee stored in the coffee holder before pouring more coffee themselves.
A pastry storage rack is also now available to hold all of your extra pastry boxes.
Several new wall and flooring options have been added to support more unique cafe setups including more colored marble checkerboard options, a striped wall variation, walls to compliment the cafe counters, and herringbone style flooring for a new wooden variation.
4 new books have joined the ranks and are ready for purchase in the licensing tab.

Hello everyone!
We hope you all had a good holiday break and are ready for the new year! The team is back from the two week holiday break and we've been hard at work on the second part of the cafe update. We didn't want to have you guys wait too long for an update though, so we've gathered together a smaller update to tide you over. Update v0.8 includes new books, Portuguese language support, performance upgrades, and some Quality of Life and bug fixes as usual. A full change log is at the end of this update.
Seven new books have been added and will be ready for you to unlock.
We've had a few people requesting Portuguese language support and we've gone through and added Portuguese translations! If you'd like to switch your language, there is a reset language button in the Settings menu that will have the language choice popup on the next restart of the game.
We've spent some time improving the memory handling for the game. We'll be switching more things over to use the better system in the future but for now we've moved over music, sound effects, and the levels themselves to use the new system. The practical benefit is decreased memory usage through the game.
Added:
- 7 new books
- Portuguese (Brazilian) language support
- Outline shown for carried boxes to help locate placed stock
- Notification for autosave
Changed:
- Memory performance improvements
- Game should no longer hang for a long time during quitting when using the quit button
- Improves accuracy of the menorah
- Movement now exits register
Fixed:
- Genre not being localized in certain places
- Prevent being able to steal back cafe items from customers
- Alley legendary display box showing incorrect number of legendary books available
- Owned legendary number will decrease properly on selling legendaries
- Cafe customers will now use tables again
- Loaded cafe customers should retain state and order properly
- Cafe checkout slots now disabled between customers to prevent incorrect placement
- Books'N'More app now closes to the tablet instead of completely
Added:
- Added missing customization for coffee machine counter
Fixed: - Fixed issue with customers not leaving cafe queue properly rarely
- Added additional protections against stuck customers
Hello everyone!
Update v0.7 is now live! Today's update brings part 1 of the cafe! This includes new buildables, new products, and new decoration options. As usual, the full change log is below.
The cafe is accessible once you reach Player Level 25. Items and furniture can be ordered through the Cafe App in your tablet. Each location has a separate cafe level which will unlock items as you progress the cafe level in both Paris and Yamanashi.
The cafe brings a cafe specific checkout counter, a coffee machine, a display case for cafe related items, and a cafe table for customers to sit at and enjoy their cafe orders. In order to run a cafe, you'll need to place the cafe checkout counter and either a stocked display case or a coffee machine.
With the cafe, a new product type has arrived - pastries! Part 1 brings 4 unique pastries to your cafe: Baguettes, Croissants, Cream Puffs, and Fruit Sandwiches. These can be stocked in the cafe display case just like other items in bookshelves.
Part two of the cafe will be coming in the new year and will focus on employees and cafe related achievements. This does mean that, for now, you will have to run the cafe yourself rather than entrusting an employee to take care of the cafe customers.
As usual, we've added a couple of new books to the available products and they will be ready to unlock as soon as you download the update.
We've also gone through and updated the demo with all of the fixes, improvements, and changes that the main game has had. The demo will remain in Paris and saves will continue to be incompatible with the full version.
Finally, as its the holiday season, the team will be taking some time off to spend the holidays with family and loved ones. We'll still check in and be around for any dire issues that come up over the break but for the most part, we'll be off and will return in the new year. We want to thank everyone that has joined us, played the game, supported us, given us feedback, and helped track down issues. We're looking forward to picking back up in the new year! Happy Holidays everybody!
Added:
- Cafe App for everything Cafe
- Cafe buildables: Cafe checkout counter, Cafe display counter, coffee machine, and Cafe table

Hello everyone!
Update v0.6 is now live! Today's update brings something that has been requested quite a bit - Achievements! We're also bringing more holiday decorations for the winter season, new books, a new legendary, and (as always) quality of life improvements and fixes.
We're bringing the first rollout of achievements to Bookshop Simulator today! We've been keeping track of certain things behind the scenes that we knew we wanted to have achievements for in the future so when loading a save with the update, you may be granted one-time achievements that you've already surpassed and may have progress on many others that will update/grant the next time you take related actions.
Note for completionists; We are in early access and will undoubtedly add more achievements with upcoming major features or new locations so please don't expect that you will retain 100% completion if you get all of these achievements.
New holiday decorations have dropped for those that enjoy the winter season! We've got a festive Christmas tree, a chilly snowman, an assortment of presents, two new rugs, and three new wallpapers to get into the mood.
With these also comes a small change. Certain objects can now be placed or built outside of the store to decorate the outside of your shop a bit more as well as the inside.
As usual, a new set of books have dropped to continue adding to your growing stock of products.
In October, we ran a decoration contest for the Halloween season in our Discord. We wanted to thank everyone for participating and the wonderfully creative submissions we received. This new legendary will provide a bonus to candy sales.

Hello everyone!
Update 0.5 is now live! Today's update brings a new feature for those that want to be a little more active in your stores - customer recommendations! We're also bringing you new books, some new plants, quality of life improvements, and fixes!
Some customers, upon entering your store, will be open to being recommended a book. Customers who are open to this will show their favorite genres in a popup similar to the legendary powerups. Simply select the customer and tell them you will recommend a book for them. They will then wait for you to return with a book that matches their preferences. You may only help one customer at a time. Recommending can only be done when customers are wandering around the store (and not heading to check out). Successfully recommending a book to a customer will provide a small tip on top of them adding the book to their purchases.
We're bringing you another 7 new books which can be found in the license tab ready to be unlocked.
We're also bringing you an additional 3 new plants to make your shops a little more green. These now work similar to the Halloween decorations so they are freely placeable on floors or tables as you see fit. The existing monstera plant has also been converted to work in the same fashion but only for newly purchased plants. Existing ones will need to be sold and bought again to be the new type.
As always, we're also bringing a number of quality of life and bug fixes. You can check out the full change log below!
Added:
- Customer recommendations
- New plants: Shrub, Bird of paradise, Thuja
- 7 new books
- Used boxes now show how many legendaries from that box you own
- f10 will pause the game in any screen if you are stuck (save + load should reset your position)
- Player exp bar to see your current level progression
Changed:
- Monstera now a free-placable item (newly purchased monstera plants only)
- Increase sale price tolerance for candy, comic books, and manga
- Used boxes now open specific to their box type, not your current location (you can carry legendaries from one location to another)
- Make tutorial wording easier to understand
- Tweaked passive income legendary calculations
Fixed:

- Rare case when all apps did not unlock

- German text showing non-German (thank you community user)

Hello everyone!
Today's update brings one of our community's most voted minor features - Hanging Signs! It also brings new products, posters, quality of life improvements, and fixes.
Hanging signs are now in! These are able to be placed on the ceiling inside your shops. They can be customized to be a number of different colors and say whatever you want (up to a character limit).
Today we bring you 7 new books spread across a variety of genres this time. They can all be found in the license section ready for you to unlock.
We've also brought in a new legendary book - The Illuminati's Guide to Empire Optimization. This legendary is available in Japan used book boxes and will provide a 15% bonus to other store's passive income efficiency when activated in the store you're running at the end of the day.
Book posters are framed items that can be placed on the wall just like the paintings. They are available in the Depot Max app in the same category as paintings. You'll be able to purchase posters for any book license that you've bought. For now, these are simply decorative, but we have functional plans for them in the future.
As usual, this build also includes a number of quality of life improvements and bug fixes. See below for a full change log!

Hello everyone!
The spooky season is upon us and we figured it'd be a good idea to get into the festivities a little bit! With this update, we're bringing you some festive options to decorate your shops to get into the season a little, some new thematic products, balancing changes, and fixes.
We've got a couple of things to change up how your store looks if you want to get into the season. In the Customizations tab in the Depot Max app, you can find a pumpkin and a cauldron to dot around your store. These act as handheld items so they can be thrown or placed down.
Also in the Customization tab, we've got several new wallpapers for the holiday season. We've also added more color variations of the Fleur De Lis wallpaper by popular demand.
In the Furniture tab, there's also a bat shaped rug available.
We've also added a specialized Horror themed bookshelf with a couple of color variations that can be purchased at shop level 33.
There's nothing to get you in the mood better than curling up and diving in to some good horror books to fit the season. We've got 7 new books available for you, mostly horror themed. We've also added a generic horror themed legendary book to match the other genre based legendaries.
Customers have had an overhaul on how they decide on what products they're interested in. The non-technical result of this is that you should see less available item types have a better chance at being picked up in a normal store setup.
Passive income has also been rebalanced and, in general, you should see increased amounts for your stores.
It is now possible to take a single legendary book with you when you travel between stores. Simply pick up the legendary you want to bring, open your tablet, travel to your chosen destination, and when you load in, you should be holding the legendary book. Multiple legendaries can be transferred in this way but will require traveling back and forth.
As usual, a number of fixes and Quality of Life improvements have also made their way into the build. See below for a full change log!
We're going to be running a shop decorating contest over on our Discord for the holiday. If that interests you, feel free to come join in! The winner will get to be the author of a book in the game!
As always, thank you to everyone for playing, chatting, suggesting, and giving feedback! We hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the spooky season! Happy Halloween!
