We have reduced the base price of the game!

Since we are back as publishers now for our game, we’ve decided to permanently decrease the price of the base game. Dear players, Blooming Business: Casino was released over a year ago now! It’s been quite a journey to release a first game as a small indie dev studio, we’ve learned a ton and we’ve been trying to improve the experience as much as possible thanks to your feedback and our understanding of the Steam community expectations. It has been quite a thinking process (to be honest ever since the development of the game!). At Homo Ludens, we think it is fairer to revise Blooming Business: Casino’s selling price and reduce it. It's very challenging to identify the correct price point for a game, taking into account the game content, development costs, Steam and publishers fees, and of course the current consumer purchasing power. To sum it up, the game price will move from 24,99€ to 19,99€ (for France). We’ve of course revised all pricing for all countries to reflect this decision.

What’s the deal with those mixed reviews? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40317218/11c907d08adfbe598e2b6f14833d8bd7a59b9870.png Having a mixed review score on Steam had a huge impact on our sales and therefore what we could do to support the game. Seeing mixed reviews can prevent interested players from giving a chance (buying) to our game. We’ve tried from the beginning to respond to your feedback by working on the game and patching the game 7 times since the release. We’ve managed to practically come back to a positive review score, but we’re still lacking a few. We would like to take this opportunity to respond to some of the most illustrative feedback we received and give you more insights on what we did to improve the game and why we have this score based on our understanding. A hardcore sim or a cozy management game? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40317218/2241882d7c1492ebf109683bc7f2cb09706d7617.png We’ve received a lot of reviews talking about the difficulty of the game and the fact that it’s too easy/ impossible to lose in the game. Indeed, we didn’t want to make a hardcore economic sim game. We wanted to offer a more relaxing and accessible tycoon. How you choose to be profitable, and specialize your casino to respond to the VIPs and client types expectations is yours to set, and there are a lot of different ways as you progress in the campaign. You can focus on building the most profitable business, a luxurious casino, or try to be an exemplary manager to name but a few examples. We also chose to develop the narrative of the game with strong VIP characters, a lot of backstory. We put love and passion behind all the writing of the game, from the VIP personalities to the Client type specificities, to the campaign missions, and even the item description and level names! A lot of you appreciated it! We understand that some of you would expect and prefer a more challenging simulation experience, and it has been one of our priorities to work on the game to address some of the feedback we received.

We’ve changed some aspects of the game. First, we worked a lot on the campaign’s mission-winning conditions, balancing, to make it more challenging. Throughout the 11 campaign missions’ levels, we’ve eased the mission flow clarity and adapted missions that were too easy or too difficult.
Then, we increased the difficulty of the Sandbox difficult modes to have a more diverse experience when you choose the “Hardcore”.
We’ve also added more failing conditions, you can now get a loan in Sandbox mode, and failing to repay it leads to a game over.
Ultimately, we want you to remember Blooming Business: Casino is above all a relaxing management game. The demo is here to tell you if it's for you or not.

While there are still some remaining bugs, there was a lot of original feedback that came from issues from the way missions were designed and the balancing was set. We’ve rewrite missions, changed the ways some worked, improved the conditions from success conditions to happen. It responded to a lot of the complaints you made and greatly improved the progression in the campaign. We wrote a guide to help you with the top campaign pain points. We’re now our own publisher

We’ve launched the game with the support of Curve Games who has helped us through the last year of development, through the financing, the development and marketing effort to make this game exist to the world. Curve Games has stopped supporting the game for months now. But we still supported it and with the change of publisher we’re happy to finally be able to bring new updates, fixes, and improvements to the game. We will do our best to continue to improve the game and fix potential new feedback, but with a little less regularity.

What the future holds

It’s more difficult for us to support Blooming Business: Casino for obvious financial reasons, but we still are committed to patch the game whenever necessary based on your feedback. We still have a few projects and ideas in mind, so stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks! Achievement issue - Rectified an issue related to achievement “Endgame”; completing level 9 or 10 after already finishing level 11 will now correctly unlock the achievement for completing all levels.
Campaign level “These suits are made for rolling” - Fixed a bug that prevented bartenders from refilling bars.
Campaign level “These suits are made for rolling” - Resolved a bug that prevented engaging in small talk with the pit boss in the "These Suits Are Made for Rolling" level.
Campaign level “These suits are made for rolling” - Corrected an issue with the 'V.I.P.'s subtask of the ‘No Horns, All Class' mission where the objective couldn’t be completed.

Building - Rectified an issue regarding doors; moving a door could previously result in deleting adjacent walls.

Multiple localization fixes, particularly for Korean, Japanese, and traditional Chinese.

Hey there owners! As Blooming Business: Casino players, you’re probably indie game lovers and supporters. And we thank you for that! Buying indie games is the best way to help small studios, and make sure we continue making games you love. As indie studios, we don’t have a big marketing budget to make ourselves known, so most of it comes from players, which is why you are even more important to us. The most important of them all… Steam reviews, which we desperately need!

{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40317218/d66b84649f0c4ee37bd3d5586d45d1031e3a5302.png Well, it’s all in the title. Steam reviews might very well be the best way to help an indie game/studio. (Well, apart from buying it, of course). The more good reviews you get, the more likely players will try your game, Steam will push it on their pages and you'll gain visibility so that potential players find out about your game, because there are A LOT of games on Steam… A good review of a game you like goes a LONG WAY! But here's the problem: as it is often the case for positive thoughts, there is a silent majority that doesn't think of commenting. We're always more likely to give feedback if we find a problem than if everything is fine… And as for us, problems we did have when the game came out. It was our very 1st game and a learning experience for us, so we had some balancing, bugs and polishing issues on which players rightfully gave feedback. We worked hard on it, and are confident we now have a smoother running cosy game. We patched the game 5 times in a short period, so our reviews have been a lot better since and we're very happy to see people enjoying the game and recognizing the work we did. But the old reviews are still clouding our overall positive reviews, which is where you can help! We will continue to work on all the feedback you shared with us and respond to your reviews. Stay tuned for more updates! If you like our game, it would be an amazing help for us if you would leave a positive review. One small step for you, a giant leap for us into having a positive average on Steam and gaining some visibility. Of course, we're not telling you to lie, feel free to give us your honest feedback in any case, that's how we progress. We're also always available for any questions or suggestions you might have!

The power of wishlisting

Well it’s all about the algorithm yet again! Steam's algorithm pushes the games that already have a lot of wishlists, so for the algorithm to notice a game, it'll already need to have a certain amount of wishlists to gain visibility from the platform. Of course, buying a game is the best way to support it, but sometimes we don’t have the means to buy a game, and it’s perfectly ok. So if you think an indie game looks good, you can support it by wishlisting it, even if you can’t buy it yet or don’t intend to buy it at all, because it’ll help them being broadcasted by Steam. It’s a free and extremely efficient way to help studios!

Taking over Social Media!

Even if you have a small account, posts will be seen by your friends, who might want to share it too, and that's how it can get to many views. And well, you know it by now, algorithms love to push content that is already performing, so the more a post is shared, the more it might be seen by people who like similar things. Of course you're not gonna share everything we post, but if you see a funny/interesting post, feel free to do so. It’s mostly a way for us to broadcast our content and get feedback, because we’re not AAA studios and can’t afford ad campaigns. As for commenting… people will tell you that comments help your referencing scores, which is true, but most importantly: criticism helps us to know how to improve the game, and support boosts us to do a good job. Feel free to tell us everything you think: if it’s constructive criticism, it will help us know which features to work on, if it’s compliments,it will give us a nice confidence boost that will make us work even harder!

Join the discords

You can usually chat with other players, but also the devs, participate in playtests, and overall help shape the game and its community. To be perfectly candid, discord communities help us make our games better. This is where players give us the most feedback (along with the steam community pages), and where they send us screenshots of their beautifully decorated casinos (which is something we love seing). But it’s also a good way to talk with other players and get help with potential problems you might have playing the game. So if you’d like an occasion to talk to the devs and try out games before they’re out or even finished, join indie dev discords. It’s also usually very positive and helpful communities!

Tons of translation and UI improvements in all languages
Optimised pathfinding to prevent crashes when there are large amount of clients present
Mission objective tooltips now remain on-screen even when you earn money. We published a short guide to identify tooltips here.
You can now paint over walls with the same pattern using a different colour
Walls are being constructed upon placing an Area next to a fence or a door
Save name are now capped in length to prevent display and performance issues
The "back to city map" button automatically creates a save
Break room beauty score now increases with duplicate items
You can no longer drop clients to the basement 😊
