We've been hard at work gathering your feedback from Blood West: Scavengers and have put together this BIG ol' update for ya!
First things first - Blood West: Scavengers has already sold more than 1/3 the copies of Dead Man's Promise in less than one month and the Gold Edition has become our #1 selling bundle on Steam. It's clear that you all want more of that Rogue West!
HOWEVER: Y'all have noted some feedback and improvements we could make - so we made em!
You can now change Scavengers during a run at a broken mirror in your room at the Wild Ram:
This comes in handy for those of you who might have just unlocked The Shogirl or... You Know Who
Speaking of which, You Know Who, The Old Man with the Shotgun and Dynamite? He unlocks earlier now.
Scavengers will also now each start with different skills unlocked, plus you can see what equipment and unlocks they start with on the character selection screen!
And since you'll be able to change Scavengers, we had to give you a way to regain some of your progress you've made!
So there are now new meta progression unlocks on the calendar to let you start at days 5, 10 and 20 if you've gotten far enough.
Sleep in your bed with your new character to speed things up.
Points of Interest will now ALWAYS have a unique item at them and the ? will disappear once you've found it...
The mission timers have been adjusted (increased) based on difficulty.
(15m hard, 20m normal, 25m story)
And on CUSTOM difficulty you can now set the timer to 200% which is about 40 MINUTES for each mission!
Stash size has also been increased, so feel free to put more JUNK in your TRUNK
The progression screen now tracks collected figurines based on map!
The Shambler now sells even MORE items from Dead Man's Promise.
You'll get MORE starting money from meta progression unlocks
And we've of course done various bug fixes, general game improvements and added more beta testers to the in-game credits (see if you made it!)
If you're enjoying Scavengers or just playing Blood West for the first time thanks to the Steam Summer Sale - don't forget to leave a review and spread the good word of New Blood. ːleatherneckː
And be sure to check out the new game from the lead designer of Blood West (Piotr Szekalski)

Now last month we revealed that Endless West had a whole new name and is practically a brand new game. One we're calling Blood West: Scavengers. Some people might call it Rogue West, you might even call it Bloodcrash, but one thing's for certain. You'll be calling it FUN.
But we know you wanna know more about it. So we put together this here video for ya. Five whole minutes of rootin' tootin' lootin' and shootin', You know, what Blood West does best. Enjoy:
Well ain't that somethin.
And yes that's a brand new song from Ivory Tower you're hearin'. It's called THE HOLE IN THE SKY
Now we know you got more questions and good thing - we got answers too!
So what exactly is Blood West: Scavengers?
It’s our roguelite take on the Blood West formula. Instead of one main character, players will inhabit different scavengers (more on them soon) looking to make their fortune from the changes occurring out in the Barren Lands. Take contracts, earn money, buy better equipment, unlock new traders with new missions and challenges. Rinse and repeat for as long as you can. If you die, you start as a new scavenger - but meta progression and unlocks make sure your next start will be a bit easier and always more interesting.
How many maps will there be?
Players will be able to re-visit the main game maps: Canyons, Swamps and Mountains. Of course, there will be changes - not only to where and what kind of enemies there are, where and what loot lies in dark corners, but also some.. other changes. Was this cave always here? What about that odd camp up above? You’ll have to see for yourself.
Anything from Dead Man’s Promise?
Of course! Even if you don't own it. A good bit of content from Dead Man’s Promise will be available in Scavengers. But not everything. The Shaman isn't playable in Scavengers so you won't be able to use his signature weapon types.
Are enemies and loot fully randomised?
More or less. Everytime you return to any map, enemies will be different and placed differently. There are rules to randomness however. Some enemy types won’t appear straight away, instead the stronger enemies will start populating the map as the player progresses and fulfills contracts. So no, you won’t meet a Hellbear in the starting town. Yet.
Is this DLC canonical?
Kinda sorta not really. The less we consider this canon the more fun we can have with it. However NPCs that could have moved on or died in the main game aren't present here for "story" reasons since we do TRY to keep the lore in tact. So no Annabelle, sorry :(
What else is new? Are there new mechanics, features?
Yes, quite a lot actually!
10 NEW weapons
6 new craftable artifacts
Treasure hunting - acquire a map and try tracking down the loot
A series of riddles that await challengers
New mini-locations on the old, well traversed maps.
Map events that change specific locations - a familiar place may look quite different
Some of these changed locations will contain rare loot
Collectible figurines (31x) to display at the bar and give you stat bonuses
Don't call them bobbleheads.
10 blessings to acquire, including 8 new ones
New human enemy variants
New monster enemy variants
Wall trophies to display of BIG BAD kills
32+ challenges to spice up the missions
How much progression is there?
Currently we have progression marked down for a whole month (31 days) - but surviving for so long won’t be easy! Actually, it’s pretty damn hard, especially without some of the unlockable traders and improvements.
But how long can players go? There’s no limit. Survive as long as you can, beat your previous best and gloat to your friends.
How difficult is this DLC?
We’d say it’s a tad bit more difficult than the base game. Especially due to the randomness adherent to this mode. Some runs may be cut short by a stroke of bad luck or one bad decision. But everybody should be able to survive for at least for a couple of days. And all the difficulty modes from the main game are present here too.
Does the game become progressively harder as days go by?
The longer the player survives, the harder the missions - this is the baseline. With time more monsters may appear on maps as well as different, stronger enemy variants. The difficulty is also affected by certain challenges and maps - going into the Mountains for example will be more difficult than the Canyons or Swamps.
Does your progress save if you quit the game?
Yes, we're not masochists.
What's with the sun? Is there a time limit for each mission?
Well - due to changes to the Barren Lands, prolonged demonic sun exposure is not recommended - scavengers who spend too much time out there tend to be chased by a new breed of deadly Spirit. They can be avoided. For a time.
New achievements?
Yes.
When?!
SOON™
How much!?
Just $4.99 and your soul!
Only $5? Really?!
Listen, times are tough out there. Games are more expensive than ever, people are bein' paid less, and people are spendin' less! So we reckon the least we could do is make this final DLC for Blood West feel like a victory lap (after more than 5 years of development) and a no brainer for people who already own Blood West and a good incentive for new players to pick up the game and maybe even the upcoming Bundle...
Blood West: GOLD Edition. (it'll replace the Dead Man's Edition and include both DLCs)
Coming SOON™
A release date ain't too far away - we've still got a bit of work left to do fixin' up and polishing Scavengers - but we've also been having a ton of fun going for one more run every night. Once it gets its hooks in ya, it's definitely hard to stop.
Wishlist NOW:
What originally started as a simple endless ranodomizer DLC has evolved into something much more!
Play as one of a handful of brand new (fully voiced) Blood West characters. Complete quests and objectives across multiple maps with modifiers. Bring back as much loot as you can before the sun comes up. Then see how many days you can survive in the Barren Lands...
The longer you live - the more bonuses you'll get for each new run!
Watch the Wild Ram bar fill up with familiar faces as you progress. Allies who can sell you better items to take on your journeys back into the Barren Lands.
Fill up your own room at the bar with trinkets from your adventures!
Live, Loot, Die, Live Again.
While we think Blood West: Scavengers is probably big and fun enough now to almost be it's own spinoff game, we promised our players a DLC 2 at a fair price and we ain't lied to you yet.
Wanna know more? We're working on a gameplay deep dive video for you that will be out before ya know it.
Scavengers is a love letter to Blood West and our players, so we're trying to cram as many weapons, enemies, loot and characters from the game and DLC as we can into it for you to enjoy!
And y'all won't have to wait too much longer, promise.

Due to a recently disclosed security vulnerability found in some Unity-built games, we wanted to let you know that we’ve already taken care of it on our side.
There’s no indication that the issue was ever exploited or that anyone was affected, but fixes have already been released - and we applied them right away to ensure that Blood West are now fully patched and secure.
You don’t need to do anything on your side - just keep your game updated as usual. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and follow the latest security recommendations to keep everything running safe and sound.
Stay safe! Hyperstrange out.
Ride up to Joy's saloon, take on a random quest, choose your starting gear, travel to different random locations on the map to complete your objectives and try to survive another day.
The longer you survive the more familiar faces will fill up the saloon to help you on your Endless journey. Because an undead gunslinger's work is NEVER done.
