This is our biggest update yet.
Version 0.5.0.0 introduces several major systems that will shape the future of the game. Many of these features are foundations that we'll continue expanding with new content, balance updates, and refinements over the next few patches.
Legendary Veterans
Legendary Veterans have arrived.
These rare recruits are guaranteed to be stronger than normal recruits and often come with powerful Traits, making them valuable additions to your roster.
They do come at a cost, however:
Higher monthly wages
Cannot serve as Trainers
Cannot become Advisors
Choosing whether to invest in a legendary warrior or continue training your existing veterans is now another strategic decision for your kingdom.
Veteran Ranks & Traits
Veterans can now earn Ranks as they gain experience.
Each rank unlocks a choice of powerful perks, allowing you to further specialize your favorite characters over time.
Traits have also been added to the game.
While uncommon on normal recruits, Legendary Veterans frequently arrive with unique traits that further distinguish them from ordinary soldiers.
Five New Buildings
Kingdom management has expanded with five new buildings, each unlocking entirely new gameplay systems.
Hospital
Hire a Surgeon as an advisor to construct a Hospital where injured veterans can recover from wounds. Some injuries, however, remain permanent.
Shrine
Hire an Oracle to build a Shrine. Choose whether the shrine is devoted to your ruler or the Gods, unlocking unique events and bonuses depending on your decision.
Graveyard
With a Necro Chancellor as your advisor, you can attempt to raise fallen veterans as Undead recruits, each with their own unique abilities and immunities.
Portal
Construct a mysterious Portal and activate it with a Legendary Mage. Venture inside to face unknown enemies... but remember, the portal works both ways.
Alchemist Lab
Build an Alchemist Lab to purchase crafted potions throughout the month. These potions cost more than standard supplies, but unique brews can appear that aren't available anywhere else.
Be warned—unsold potions disappear when new stock arrives.
Recruit Improvements
You can now retain recruits, allowing them to remain available for hire instead of disappearing at the end of the month.
Retained recruits still occupy recruitment slots, so you'll need to decide whether they're worth holding onto.
Smarter Enemies
Enemy AI has been improved across the board.
Enemies now make better decisions during combat by:
Choosing alternate actions when their preferred option isn't available
More intelligently selecting targets, including finishing off weakened characters
This should make encounters feel more dynamic and less predictable.
Gold From Combat
Enemies now carry gold based on their type, rewarding players directly for defeating tougher foes.
More Content
This update also adds a huge amount of new content:
33 new enemies
24 new items
10 new Blessings
2 new status effects: Fear and Panic
Other Improvements
Added an information button on cards showing detailed card information and tags
Card Broker services are now limited and become more expensive when repeatedly used
Trainers now preview which cards they can teach recruits
Multi-class cards now clearly indicate every class that can use them
Improved UI placement for 4K monitors and other resolutions
Updated tags across hundreds of cards
Hired mercenaries now arrive with their own equipment and leave with it
Renamed City Walls to Guard Station
Renamed The Forest building to The Briar Outpost
