That's right, Research Participants. It's Awards season again and we're delivering a very scientific independent study to ask you to support Bionic Bay! While we think our precision platformer hits a couple of these categories, if we had to pick one out of the bunch, the Best Game You Suck At award is probably the one that fits best (though we're still eyeing you up, Steam Deck, visual Style and Innovative Gameplay).

We're here today to ask for your support, in nominating Bionic Bay for this years Steam Awards. Resolved a Unity security vulnerability (CVE-2025-59489) \
Adjusted the requirement for the “Best Quarter” achievement when player participation is low in a online event.

• Fixed an issue where the leaderboard displayed incorrectly the first time during special online levels. • Fixed a bug that caused incorrect leaderboard rankings under specific conditions after uploading a score in special online levels. • Fixed boundary issues and oversized checkpoints in some levels. • Removed the countdown timer display in special online levels. Speedrunning Scientists! Alongside our little polishing update today, we’re thrilled to let you know that our Shuhei Yoshida skin is now live in Bionic Bay Online! To bring Shuhei into your online speedrunning, all you have to do is beat his time in our specially-crafted course. If you manage to beat this PlayStation legend’s best time, you’ll be able to jump in as Shu on both PC and PlayStation 5 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42461060/84dd08c4f9ef9b3672be135a940f8474d876246e.gif We’ve been so honoured to collaborate with Shuhei, and incredibly proud that Bionic Bay has lived up to his high expectations. In this mode, intrepid scientists can compete to set times against a constantly-changing online leaderboard. With the exception of Shuhei's Gauntlet, each course runs for a limited time, before allocating points to your global profile. What better chance for glory? Get into our research program now, set a time and show Shuhei how he should have done it.

• Adjusted several systems in online mode and added extra version checks for compatibility. • Fixed checkpoint trigger ranges in certain levels. • Fixed boundary issues in some levels. • Fixed an issue where enabling Chronolag under specific conditions caused the game to run slowly. • Fixed an issue where manually selected ghosts in online mode did not update correctly in certain situations. • Fixed various joystick connection-related errors.

Fixed a bug where the unlocking condition check for the Omega achievement could be skipped.
Now, the game will check for the Omega achievement upon launch to compensate for missed unlocks.
Fixed a bug where resetting save data could cause issues with achievement tracking.
We’ve identified that DirectX 12 may cause crashes on certain setups. This launch option has been temporarily disabled.

Improvements

Added Advanced Controls in the option menu:
- Added a new Spherical Gravity Controls setting, allowing players to choose between Screen Space (default) or Character Relative for movement direction control.
The Large Hint Buttons option in Advanced Graphics options now also scales the size of the ChronoLag timer display, enhancing visual clarity on handheld devices like the Steam Deck.

Added a "Report Bug" button in the pause menu, which opens a Google Form for reporting issues.
Fixed an issue where controller keybindings were not saved (they would reset after restarting the game).
Fixed several level issues that caused endless falling.
Fixed a bug where the online mode displayed expired leaderboards in certain situations, causing errors.

Speed running scientists and challenge hunters, rejoice. After years of crafting, your invitation to Bionic Bay is now available on Steam. It began with a chance meeting on Reddit, and now the Bionic Bay story continues with you, our trusted Research Participants. What you’ve seen in the Bionic Bay demo is just the beginning. Bionic Bay v1.0 includes 23 painstakingly created levels, with an increasing challenge to simply stay alive through your journey. Importantly, however, the path can be as helpful as it is dangerous, and Research Participants will need to judge the way ahead accordingly. In addition to the main game, we’ve also developed the Bionic Bay Online mode, with a dedicated build for speed runners and those hungry for a challenge. It’s time for science! Research Participants who have been keeping up with the Future Games Show may have seen that we have released a new trailer and a new demo. You can head over to Steam to try out our updated research sample, which now includes the new Bionic Bay Online mode! Since we last invited Research Participants to experience Bionic Bay, the team have been working on new tweaks, polishes and adding in a number of deathtraps clever puzzles. While the new Bionic Bay Online mode is undoubtedly the star of the show, Research Participants will find a lot more to be getting along with. In Bionic Bay Online, research Participants will race through an area prepped with a significant number of hazards and obstacles. You’ll need to use all of the tools at your disposal to set the best time you can, including swap mechanics, gravity shift and the ChronoLag™ time dilation features. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42461060/2ee78fda26e7bb0f09b287b1e109b4506e210105.gif We’re inviting Research Participants into the new Bionic Bay demo right now, so head over to Steam and jump in for yourself. Research Participants! Somebody who shall remain unnamed (KEVIN) has been left unattended with Bionic Bay’s ChronoLag time dilation technology. Because of this unnamed person (STILL KEVIN) we’ll be releasing Bionic Bay with a slight delay to April 17th 2025. "Bionic Bay" is participating in The 2023 Game Devs of Color Expo! Game Devs of Color Expo is amplifying the creative power held by people of different color in games.
