We’ve just rolled out a new update to Beyond Words, bringing a mix of quality of life improvements, balance tweaks and bug fixes to help make your runs smoother and more rewarding.

Here’s what’s new:

Improvements

• New Active Perks tab added to the Game Info page, making it easier to track what’s shaping your run

• A brand new Perk has been added… discover it in-game 👀

• Added a one-off tutorial when you first reach Bronze or Silver to help guide your progress

• Improved clarity on several Power Card descriptions

• Platinum Trophy icons have been updated to better stand out from Silver

• General tweaks and polish across the game

Balance Changes

• Adjusted the flow and difficulty of early levels for a smoother start

• Fine-tuned several card modifiers and tile stickers for better balance

Bug Fixes

• Fixed an issue that could prevent the Free Parking Perk from unlocking

• Corrected the Sapling popup to display the right values

• Removed button prompts when no controller is connected

• Fixed UI issues in the shop and during scoring

• Addressed a range of smaller bugs to improve overall stability

Clever Placements Bring The Greatest Rewards

Moves: Place tiles each turn to form words across the board. Every decision reshapes the puzzle and reveals new opportunities.

Scoring: Stack letter multipliers, trigger combos and chain effects to rack up points. Clever placement and timing are everything.

Coins: Earn coins by crafting and strategically placing high value words then reach goals efficiently by spelling words over pickups on the board.

Discards: Dispose of unwanted letters to refresh your options. A vital resource for survival but there is more here than meets the eye.

Tiles Build Words

Standard Tiles: Reliably score points on the board.

Blue Multiplier (+): Blue tiles add to the multiplier total. TIP – Blue tiles add + to the score.

Purple Multiplier (x): Purple tiles multiply the multiplier total. TIP – Purple tiles multiply x the score.

Virus Tiles are a tile mutation that spreads across the board and brings a quick points bonus. Infected tiles offer a burst of value but, will eventually perish.

Stick on a Little Extra Power

Points: Adds points to the base value.

Blue Multiplier: Adds a + multiplier to the tile.

Purple Multiplier: Adds an x multiplier to the tile.

Retrigger: Reactivates the tile for even bigger combos.

Bomb: Clears nearby tiles, creating new space.

No Discard: Locks that tile in place.

Stickers are where smart players bend the rules and find wild synergies.

When Words Aren’t Enough

Power cards you choose reshape the rules of play. They can trigger score boosts, special effects or even alter board behaviour entirely.

Remodel the Deck: Build and enhance the tiles in your deck for maximum opportunities and payoffs.

Collecting and combining Power Cards is the key to mastering Beyond Words. They’re the difference between surviving and dominating.

Turn Good Runs into Great Ones

Power cards you choose reshape the rules of play.

Play Booster Cards to immediately strengthen and improve your opportunities.

Normal Boosters – These provide immediate rewards.

Level Boosters – Boost word values to escalate your score.

Tile Boosters – Targeted upgrades for long-term advantages.

Used strategically, boosters are the spark that can transform an average run into something spectacular.

Play Smarter, Not Harder

Perks are passive bonuses that influence how each run unfolds. Some enhance scoring, others expand combo potential or improve coin yield.

Your chosen perks define your long-term strategy and playstyle. Small effects build big consequences.

The Obstacles in Your Path

Bosses loom on the horizon every few stages, threatening to twist the rules. They must be destroyed to open up the board or, learn to work around them is a mark of true mastery.

Bosses appear every few stages, twisting the rules in new and unpredictable ways. They may invert scoring, limit word lengths or scramble the board entirely.

Beating them isn’t just survival – It is a triumph of planning, wit and adaptability.

Every letter counts, harvest pickups and bonuses to your advantage. These insider tips highlight how Beyond Words rewards forward thinking and creativity.

Be kind to your future self

Think ahead when placing words. Linking tiles and leaving openings for future letters sets up huge scoring chains. Today’s setup becomes tomorrow’s big move.

Understanding the Boards

Each board has its own quirks. Use multipliers, bonuses and layout patterns to your advantage. Position words over high value bonuses to turn modest plays into massive rewards.

Discards Are Your Friend

Discards give control but every letter matters. Don’t be too quick to drop awkward tiles — the right combination might appear next turn. Efficiency and patience go hand in hand.
