Hi everyone, this is Jérôme speaking! I hope everyone's okay.
I've been busy with Barda those past few weeks for different reasons, but this update will probably be one of the last about Barda and its development.
So what's new?
Many players asked for it so I took some time to achieve this feature that will allow you to interrupt a run mid-game. I hope there won't be any issue with it! But if that's the case let me know.
I've also added support for different sizes of screen including Widescreens. As I was at it because I spent much of my time porting the game to different platforms.
BARDA is coming to Nintendo Switch tomorrow! If you want to play the game on a new device or if you know someone you wanted to try out the game but plays on Switch, there you go!
The game should also be available on mobile / tablets soon, but Apple and Google are giving me a very hard time at the moment. I'll update later.
Corentin Brasart and Noé Bistolfi, the two composers for Barda, has took some time to master the music of the game to make it available on different platforms. It's coming on Steam soon! The soundtrack is being reviewed by Steam. I'll also update on this!
It'll also be available on other platforms such as youtube:
I've also tweaked and fix some tiny things in the game, but I won't bother you with that.
I wish all the best with your life, thank you so much to all of you who showed support. If you want to help, leave a positive review on Steam or gift the game to a friend! Thank youuuu <3
I cannot not dev games I guess, so I've started working on the sequel of one of my previous game, Frost. If you'd be interested in following the development of the game, there is some info on the game page!
Our first post-release update! We tried to listen to as much feedback as we could with our tiny team.
Our main addition is:
The most common criticism was that the game was too easy and that the upgrades were not useful for beating the main mode. We created this new mode to challenge the most skilled Barda players out there! Enjoy!
A new achievement has been added.
We also increased the difficulty of the main mode slightly.
We have added visual variants for almost every region in the game. It's not much, but you'll see that it'll give you a better sense of discovery and exploration.
We did our best to fix as many things as possible, including but not limited to:
You can now close tutorial pop-ups.
Fixed many small issues with using the gamepad.
We've improved the failsafes for the bag to prevent objects from flying into the sky as much as possible.
We'll keep an eye on the feedback, but we're also going to focus on our next big project: porting to the Switch!
There we go!
Despite the game's poor coverage and reception, we found the courage and inner resources to push through, and we're quite happy with the result!
Thanks to everyone who participated in this effort! Thanks also to those who had kind words about the game: those comments gave us the fuel we needed.
We tried to fix as many bugs as humanly possible by one guy
The audio guys made a big push forward, this version includes several new tracks
We reduced the physical glitches that may happen when there is a lot of objects in the bag
Variety has been added to many zones
Switch version is on its way!
We hope we can include some more languages, but that will depend on the game's sales (we have no money left)
We plan on updating the game with a small patch soon, including bugs that you may find and some tweaks we didn't have the time to include in this version
We hope the game will bring you a little bit of joy! Give us feedback!
We are very happy to announce that we have added support for the Simplified Chinese language to the game. This is the last language we’ll add before version 1.0. More may be added afterwards!
This new update also includes Steam Achievements! There are 33 of them. Please let us know if any of them don't work.
It's now possible to play with a gamepad! We're still testing things so let us know if there's any issue.
This is our last content update before the release in June!
This last playable bag can be upgraded a lot!
Our last batch of items before the release!
And here is also a last batch of badges
And as always, a whole lot of bug fixes and QoL improvements!
Next update will include a new language support. Apart from that, only fixes and balance! Thanks to the few persons who will read this and support us!
We released our second update since our Early Access started! It includes a new bag, a new NPC, and new objects.
This bag will eat one of your item on travel, but you'll never go hungry!
He specialises in badges!
Here's a selection of new, fun ideas that we came up with, including the Holobook from our previous game, Pilo!
We have made significant changes to the quantity of items you can loot, as well as implementing other balance changes. We are very happy with the current state of the game, which is closer to our original vision. Let us know what you think!
This is our first update since the Early Access release! We've received lots of feedback and tried to fix as many issues as possible. We’re a tiny team, but we’re doing our best. Please let us know what you think in the comments, in your Steam review or via the in-game form. Thank you!
Reviews are one of the main ways in which Steam promotes our game to other players. If you have played the game and enjoyed it, please consider leaving a review! Thank you!
Our focus was on resolving as many issues as possible and implementing as many quality-of-life improvements as we could. This update does not include any new major content.
Tutorial mode is removed
Easy mode is removed
Dev note: We’ve got many comments on the complexity of the tutorial, and on the feeling the Easy mode was lacking motivational goal and difficulty. We decided to focus on our main “Story mode” and make it good. Tutorial notes will now be included directly in your first run of the game.
It’s now possible to drag objects out of the bag anywhere on the screen
New ending screen art
Added two loot zones (Forest and Swamp)
Added a run animation to the player character
A button to the Explorer’s Tree has been added to the “Base Camp” (the first zone of any game)
New language added to options: Brazilian Portuguese
New quests have been added
Added a dotted red line to indicate the limits of the bag
“Repair Equipment” now work on every object that has a lowered durability
Fixed a major issue with difficulty not adjusting according to altitude
Fixed broken quests
And many other tiny bugs
Things are not going as well as we had hoped. A publisher pulled out three days before the release, and sales are much lower than we expected.
We will continue working on the game using our own funds for several months to make it as good as possible. Unfortunately, however, we won't be able to include as much content as we had hoped. In the next update, we’ll provide a more detailed roadmap for future updates. Thank you to everyone who supported us during the first two weeks!
After a long journey of prototyping, testing, and climbing many imaginary mountains, Barda is finally out in Early Access today.
This is only the beginning. The game will keep evolving during development, and your feedback will play a big role in shaping it. If you enjoy chaotic survival, clever inventory management, and the quiet tension of climbing higher and higher, we’d love to hear what you think.
Thanks for being part of the adventure, and for helping us make Barda the best game it can be.
-Jérôme, Fred, and the team
Come and join Fred and I as we talk about Barda's Early Access, our roadmap and for a dev Q&A!
We'll be live for one hour (or more) as a special event during the #TurnBasedThursdayFest 2026.
Come and have a chat with us! See you all there!
To celebrate the end of the year, we put together a temporary and unique "Winter Run" you can find in your base camp for the next couple of weeks.
It's also a way for us to beta test a seasonal / weekly run feature we would like to include in the Early Access version which will be available early 2026!
Hopefully you'll get a nice present! The run is pretty hard, let us know on our socials or on Discord if you managed to reach the end!
We also revamped the way challenges are done. The dice is gone! Let us know what you think.
Happy holidays to all of you, and see you in 2026 for the release of Barda!!
Barda is participating in a new and small event call Midwinter Spirits and for the occasion we decided to update our demo for one week!
Afterwards we will proceed with our open playtest.
A brand new intro for the game - we're testing a new way of starting the game and progressing in the game, with a base camp and quests. We can't wait to hear what you think!
We received many comments on game progression and difficulty, so we made many adjustements, let us know if you manage to reach the summit this time!
Thank you for your support!
Hi all! We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to provide us with feedback – it is very much appreciated!
We've decided to pause the demo version and reopen the playtest to everyone, as we're currently testing new features and the entire gaming experience. Let us know what you think! The game will be free to play during the test phase for a couple of months, after which it will be released on Early Access (est. mid February).
One MAJOR feature that we wanted to test as early as possible was the Village! It's VERY rough at the moment, but it will give you an idea of what we are aiming for. You can unlock new options by completing quests for characters in the Mountain.
Our new Dungeon biome is in the game! It might take a couple of runs until you run into it. It features new items, and a brand new skill, Lockpicking!
You may come across some very rough NPCs while exploring! We are testing out new interactions. They might stay, they might not! Let us know if you love one!
We took all the feedback we received regarding difficulty very seriously, and we are currently testing new systems that will allow for different play styles. We're also experimenting with the length of the mountain, as we're now testing full runs. We'd love to hear your thoughts on this! Reaching the summit won't be easy!
And as always, plenty of improvements and fixes, many thanks to your feedback! We're stabilizing our new way of solving challenges (by throwing a d20). Looks good now!
We have reopened our playtest as of today, so you can take a look at our new content and features! We have updated the public demo to version 0.12, and it is unlikely that we will update it again for quite some time. If you want to follow our development, subscribe to our playtest and join our Discord server! https://discord.gg/kAQXzQJMGm
We took the time to consider all the feedback we received during Next Fest, and we have worked hard to improve the user experience, making things clearer and smoother. We hope you'll like the changes!
We are now going back to adding new features, such as our Dungeon biome and our Village, which will be available for testing in our playtest branch in the coming weeks!
Once we have added these two new features, we will be ready for our Early Access release. We plan to launch in early 2026, so stay tuned!
Thank you for your support! Talk to you soon!
-The Mudita Games team
Thank you to everyone who took the time to give us feedback, try out the demo, add the game to their wishlist, or even just take a look at it! We received lots of positivity and constructive criticism.
We used all of this to patch the game several times this week, and we published the final 0.10.4 version a few minutes ago. We hope this will resolve some of the issues you encountered and encourage you to start or restart the game!
We'll be back in a couple of weeks with the playtest, so stay in touch if you'd like to beta test our future features.
We're eager to announce Early Access some day soon!
Until next time!
-Jérôme & Fred
