The official launch is on August 19th, but we're pushing all the changes live a bit early for you guys to try and break stuff.

Features:

It's been a long ride and outside of bug fixes and stability patches, we're happy to call this the definitive version of BAPBAP.

We've cooked up a new mode for you guys to check out - the alpha version is out now!

Rushing Yo Boss

For this first version, it's a single player boss killing speed run mode aptly named Boss Rush. Access it by pressing the big ol' Boss Rush button on the main menu.

Pick 3 augments and 1v"1" the royal slime (it cheats).

Your best time and streak is recorded for each character so you can brag about it.

We're mostly doing this to see how you guys vibe with this type of beat. Check it out and let us know what you think in the Discord.

Yoyo! Hopefully you've all been enjoying the game! We've been hard at work on updates - if you haven't seen the other notes, check our news page or discord. This time around, we got some new skins, even more lobby options, spectating and a training mode! For now, we've been mostly focused on bug-fixing and adding things to make the game more complete and customizable. We should be in a pretty decent state now, so if you still have some game breaking (or just highly annoying) issues, feel free to reach out to us on Discord. As we work towards our 1.0 launch, just a reminder accounts made after 1.0 will have to purchase a character pack to play non-free characters. - Hosts can now grant buffs/debuffs per player for handicap purposes - Changing player stats will display the changes on top of the player card in lobby - Revamped the host settings UI to be more organised - Players joining in lobbies after the game starts can now spectate the game

Training Mode

You can now access training mode on the main menu. This will take you to a private game for you to test out all the characters, skins, augments, items and interactables.

All accounts made during Early Access will get the character pack permanently now - we'll let you know when official launch is coming up! Lobby v2 - Updated visuals on the lobby screen. - All players can now see a preview of some high-level settings changed by the host. - Moved the Settings Preset dropdown from inside of the Settings menu to the lobby screen. - Added "Random Character" as a separate option in character select. If your game is crashing on startup, it might be due to a recent change on the Steam Beta Branch. You can try switching off of the Steam Beta Branch (located in Steam > Settings > Interface) and see if this fixes your game. This isn't guaranteed to fix, but we've seen it work in a few cases. Added a Alpha version of "Quick Join" button to the main menu - This will join a lobby hosted in your region that has available space and isn't in-game
Being AFK as a host will auto close your lobby in 5min

Added "Copy Username" option to right-clicking a player in the lobby - This copies the full display name and discriminator

We here at BAPHQ started with a just a couple degen devs that randomly hit it off online and we’ve been working on this, our first indie game, for over FIVE years. Hell yeah. We're running what's hopefully the final-final BAPBAP Steam Playtest before launch - playtest will start from February 19, 11:00 AM PST. You'll be able to play everything in new version of BAPBAP outlined in the Blog and more. Blog in case you missed it. If all goes well, we'll be launching the game Early Access on Steam after, so drop us all the feedback or forever hold your peace. Also, this will be the last time for you to earn BAP Points and the beta rewards (OG sticker and BAP crown banner). We'll hold extra contests to help you guys make up some points so stay tuned to the discord for details.

BAPBAP HAS BEEN REBORN

We fucking nailed it. So far, all the early tester of the new version of BAPBAP have been telling us that it’s the best version of BAP they’ve played, which is a good sign (we hope🤞🏻). What’s new? Oh just like… everything… We kiiiinda remade BAPBAP from the grounds up into a whole new game. Oops. Think Smash meets Roguelike with BAPBAP combat. The games go by fast with more chaos, more antics and more yelling at your friends for not focusing the guy that’s winning. Our goal is to make a game that focuses on playing with friends and captures everything BAPPY in a clean, fun package. All the information can be found at the blog linked here. In case you missed it, BAPBAP Battle Royale mode is cancelled. We faced too many challenges as an indie team to keep up with a ranked, matchmade playerbase. TLDR: - BAPBAP Open beta is donege on Nov 12th. - Moving to Pre-launch, which will be closed door tests only - Expect frequent blog posts detailing new features and content - Big focus on adding variety and depth via Roguelike elements Yoyo! My name is IHeartPie and I’m the guy who makes the maps, writes the official fanfiction (“Lore”), makes the tiktoks, and spends way too much time on the discord arguing about what the best anime is. We hadn’t really done any of these blog posts before because well - I kinda hate doing it. Feels too stuffy and official. I’d rather chill in the discord and interact with you guys directly. But this announcement and our upcoming stuff is a tiny bit too important for that, which perfectly segues into our main topic.

🚀 BAPBAP is gearing up for launch!

The community has been nothing but amazing - long and way-too-passionate feedback posts, fanarts ranging from school doodles to gorgeous masterpieces, and incredibly long play hours that really make us question if you’ve ever heard of grass before. We have over 200,000 registered users during our beta period which is absolutely insane. But - in order for a game like BAPBAP to succeed, there’s one big thing we need - Hype. We’re a small indie team which comes with benefits like being able to throw any idea we have into the pan or not worrying about using a fuck or two in our blog posts. But it also means we are super unknown in the gaming space. We don’t have multi-million dollar marketing budgets, nor the access to backroom industry parties to meet Mr. Miyamoto (we assume he’s a big partier). It is close to an impossibility for us to build up hype the way we’re moving, which is why we’re making this decision.

✉️ BAPBAP will be moving to an invite-only Pre-launch phase.

This is for us to really buckle down and focus on building up hype for launch via new characters, new content and to hammer out some highly requested systems (hello voice chat?). More importantly, it lets us do more closed door tests where we can do some BIG exciting shifts to the BAPBAP gameplay loop. We believe BAPBAP is in a really fun state at the moment and that we’ve hit a great balance of the action of a MOBA with the excitement of a battle royale and a splash of roguelike elements to boot. That splash however will soon become a tidal wave, as a big focus of ours moving forward is to add way more depth and variety via these roguelike elements! On the marketing side, we’ll be working on making more events and ways to onboard and reward content creators covering BAPBAP. Expect things like a content creator program, twitch drops and creator events! We have SO much new stuff planned that we really can’t fit any details into this post - which is why we’ll also start posting frequent blog posts to keep all of you guys updated, starting with a feature next week showcasing our new spawn picking system! Duos and the last chance for you to get ranked BAP Points and the Vet role. We expect this one to get competitive so the top 100 players will get BAP Points and top 15 will get the Vet role. Time to duke it out one last time for exclusive beta rewards! Ranked will run from Nov 9th (Thursday) to Nov 12th (Sunday), after which, BAPBAP’s Open Beta phase will officially be over as we move to Pre-launch!
