Hey Loners,
Uninvited Guests brought twelve new faces into the Zone. This patch is us making sure they look and move the way they're supposed to. Small one, mostly polish, all of it in service of the new list.
VISUAL IMPROVEMENTS
The Rover now has animations at camp.
VFX improvements for the Volcano, Digger, and Bomb Dropper. If something is about to hurt you, it should look the part.
QUALITY OF LIFE
Better anticipation on the Digger's drilling attack. The tremor was always there. Now it's easier to read. Reacting in time is still your problem.
FIXES
Fixed the Elite Digger displaying the wrong orange tone. It's an elite. It dresses like one now.
This one was about tightening what's already here. The next one isn't. We've got a lot of changes coming. Stay close.
See you in the Zone, The Atomic Picnic Team
Hey Loners!
We know what you've been telling us. Two years of "more enemies would be nice." We heard it the first time. We just wanted to make sure they were worth meeting before we let them in.
So: Twilight Dam, City of Sands, and Diamantina got new neighbors. Twelve of them. None of them RSVP'd.
Four new arrivals. Nobody invited them, nobody's getting them to leave.
Flying Charger
Mortar
Teleporter
Volcano
Six more. The Zone wasn't crowded enough, apparently.
Slime
Digger
Bomb Dropper
Slow Gunner
Diver
Mini Flamethrower
Two new elites. Same rule as always: bigger threat, better drop. Digger Elite
Brawler Elite
CHANGES
Vacuum enemies now have SFX. Two updates of silent judgment, finally audible.
Removed the gap between objective steps. Cores ends, Rover starts. Pillar drops, the Miniboss is already inbound. The Zone doesn't pause for you to catch your breath, so we stopped pretending it would.
STEAM SUMMER SALE
Summer is here, and with the new monsters in the Zone, Atomic will be on sale from June 25 to Jul 9!
First, a word on the gap we just removed: we know some of you wanted more room to breathe between fights, not less. We've been listening. This update first solves a different problem: twelve new reasons to never feel safe standing still. Pacing is the next conversation, and it's already started internally. Tell us how this lands, and we'll keep adjusting from there.
Twelve enemies added to three maps, one Picnic that's a lot less peaceful than it used to be. This was the first pass. More are coming; the road to 1.0 is as soon as you guys expected.
See you in the Zone, The Atomic Picnic Team
Hey Loners!
New update is here with another round of visual polish, audio improvements, and bug fixes.
As we get closer to the launch of Atomic Picnic, we’re slowing down the pace of regular updates.
Not because there’s less happening.
Because we’re preparing something much bigger.
From now on, we want every update to matter; with more meaningful reveals, sharper improvements, and things that will make the wait worth it for every Loner out there.
Stay close. Big news is coming very soon.
Atomic will be attending the Bullet Fest! Share the love for roguelikes and bullet fest, and send AP to your friends!
Improved shadows for enemies, characters, and buildings.
Made small adjustments to the Heavy Weight and Bass Blaster icons.

Sometimes, the enemy's death VFX plays in slow motion.
The Energy Bomb SFX can continue playing after it's collected.
Harp’s healing VFX is being directed to the floor instead of Oswald.
Thanks for playing and helping us improve Atomic Picnic!

Hey Loners! This is Lu, Atomic Picnic's Narrative Designer!
Our latest Major Update added something we've been wanting for a while: a proper introduction. In Atomic Picnic's case, it came in the shape (and text, and audio) of a cutscene.
Cutscenes can be a fantastic tool for a number of things. They provide context, deepen the storytelling, and can even help with UX. You get to know the characters more, relate to them, and receive information that will be useful for gameplay.
Our intro might not be a feature film, but it gives some of the what's, where's, and how's of the Zone and its mysteries. All that in just a few seconds! Phew!
We hope you enjoy our animated comic book come to life. See you in the Zone!
Hey Loners,
This one’s all about polish.
We’ve been going through your feedback and focusing on making the game easier to read, smoother to play, and more consistent overall. A lot of small things, but they add up during a run.
We’ve made several updates to help combat feel clearer and less noisy:
Area Hold VFX improved
Pillars now dissolve into the environment when destroyed
Miniboss icon added to the objectives bar
Background art updates across Camp, Viridity Pass, Train Plateau, and Twilight Dam
Lighting tweaks to improve visibility in different situations
We also cleaned up UI consistency across the game:
Settings UI updated
Loadout UI adjusted
Improvements to Social, Join Picnic, Keyboard, and Controller tabs
Survey pop-up now shows up less often, only once every 10 runs
Some audio now preloads before the run
Little Mac has been reworked:
No more persistent slow area
Now fires a projectile that creates a slow zone on impact
Happy Marriage evolution VFX not showing
Weapon trails displaying incorrectly
Ready Up message getting inverted when canceled
Device screen text overlapping when items are locked
Critical Knuckles, Lighting in a Bottle, and Good Times unlocking repeatedly
Offerings debuff showing incorrect values
Octavio crystal ink attack using the wrong shader
Oswald music stand cannot be destroyed
Sound and music may still have issues
Little Mac’s new ranged slow attack is not fully balanced yet
Some enemies cores can drop in the abyss and be hard to get
Sometimes Rover progress bar may be inconsistent with how far it has progressed
We’re continuing to iterate on objectives and overall run flow.
A lot of your feedback has been pointing us in the same direction, and we’re taking that seriously. The goal is to make runs ramp up faster, feel clearer, and stay engaging all the way through.
More soon, and keep the feedback coming. See you in the Zone
Hey Loners,
This update introduces a complete overhaul of the early game experience and the core run structure. New boss. New intro. Rebuilt tutorial. Revamped boss fights. A new way to run.
Atomic's major update touches almost everything, and we want to walk you through it all.
Diamantina has been waiting long enough.
Oswald is here. He commands the arena from above, moves between perches, fights with lightning, lasers, and sound itself. There’s a twist in this fight you’ll have to figure out yourself. We’re not spoiling it.
He's the toughest boss in the Zone right now. That's by design.
Every boss fight now is the way it should be.
After your Picnic, you'll be transported to a dedicated arena, a purpose-built space where the fight can breathe and feel like the climax it deserves. No more sharing the same ground you spent the last 15 minutes fighting on.
The bosses themselves have also been revisited:
Octavio → His shield now requires destroying his tentacles to break. More deliberate, more readable.
Camille → Goes invulnerable while charging her laser. Goop now targets locations instead of players and may contain healing pickups if you're willing to push into it.
Warren → More aggressive. Sand waves now cover the full arena. There is less room to breathe, which is the point.
Atomic Picnic now has an opening. Before anything else, new players will see a brief intro cutscene that sets the stage for the world, the Zone, and why any of this is happening.
If you've been here since the beginning of Early Access and Demo, it's a moment to finally see the story you've been living in given a proper beginning. We think it's worth watching.
From the beginning of Early Access, we knew that how a Picnic progressed was something we'd eventually need to rebuild. Surviving waves and hitting a level target works, but it never quite captured what we wanted a run in Atomic Picnic to feel like: a chaotic, escalating fight where every step means something. So we rebuilt it.
Runs now move through a sequence of main objectives that shape the arc of a Picnic from start to finish. Each step feeds into the next, and the tension builds while you survive in the Zone bullet hell.
Gather Cores - Collect energy from the world around you. XP drops, deposits, pickups, everything contributes.
Escort Rover - A payload drops from the sky and needs to reach the center of the map. Stay close to keep it moving. Stray too far, and it stops.
Destroy the Pillar - Collect energy bombs and deliver them to a central pillar. Don't sit on them, they won't last forever. Once the pillar goes down, things get loud.
Defeat the Miniboss - The destruction summons a miniboss immediately. Take it down, and Rover opens a portal straight to the boss arena.
Every objective step will appear on the end-of-run screen. Completed, failed, or unreached. The run now has a shape you can read, reflect on, and improve at.
This is the first version of this system. We're treating it as a foundation, and we'll keep shaping it based on how you play and what you tell us. If something feels off, lands wrong, or just makes you go "wait, what?" → Tell us on Discord or the Steam Forums.
Survive past 15 minutes, and the Zone stops being polite.
The sky shifts. Enemies escalate faster. Elites stop spacing themselves out. The rewards scale too. But if you've been taking your time, you'll feel it.
Getting into Atomic Picnic for the first time is a very different experience now.
After the intro, new players move through a tutorial covering the core mechanics, followed by a short guided run that walks through a full match. Events, objectives, and progression included. It's playable solo or with friends, and short enough not to overstay its welcome.
Finishing it unlocks new curios, two mementos, and Train Plateau.
Two new elites are joining the roster.
Elite Gunner - Shows up in Train Plateau and Twilight Dam. Fires V-pattern projectiles that bounce twice before disappearing. Give him space.
Elite Flying Shooter - Found in City of Sands and Diamantina. Fires homing projectiles that explode after a short delay. Don't let him get comfortable above you.
Chests now reward based on their source. Main objectives and elite enemies drop curio upgrades and evolutions. Events like Area Hold and Gold Goblin drop stat modifiers. What you chase shapes what you build.
Enemy modifiers are now visible. Small numbers above enemy heads indicate power level. The higher the number, the harder the fight.
Elites now spawn on a fixed timer and drop a chest when defeated.
Auto vacuum activates after defeating a boss. Nothing gets left behind.
Night maps have been temporarily removed while we rework them.
Offerings debuff is now standardized — 40% movement speed for 10 seconds, every time.
Little Mac has improved multiplayer behavior and reduced attack range.
We did a full naming pass this update to improve clarity and consistency. If something in your inventory looks unfamiliar, it's the same item — just finally named what it actually does.
Curios — name and icon changes:
Ricocheting Flavor → Rubber Bullets
Walkypot → Bass Blaster
Teddy Bear → Back Off Belt
Brickcase → Critical Knuckles
Cluckwork → Trigger Tempo
Scarlet Vision → Echo Shot
Portable Galaxy → Portable Boom

The All-Devourer → Heavy Weight

We are aware that the sound and music are experiencing issues, and our team is working to fix them as soon as possible
This one is different.
Seven months. Over a thousand pieces of feedback. Countless internal arguments, scrapped prototypes, and a lot of rebuilding things we thought were finished. The new objective system alone went through more iterations than we can count. The boss arenas were something we'd wanted since before launch. The guided run came directly from watching new players struggle and deciding we couldn't let that go unaddressed any longer.
We're proud of what we're shipping. We also know it's still not perfect. The objective system, especially, is a first version, and we're genuinely curious how you'll receive it. Some of you will love it immediately. Some of you will need a few runs to warm up to it. Some of you may have feedback. We’d like to read them and see how we can improve.
Whatever you think, say it. Discord, Steam Forums, wherever you are. We're reading everything, the same as we always have.
Thank you for a year and a half of Early Access. Now go find Oswald.

Hey Loners,
One year of Early Access, and this one’s been a long time coming. The Bow and Arrow has landed!

Fixed Launcher not dealing damage.

When joining another camp, if another player has fired the Bow and Arrow, the charge SFX may replay as many times as it was used before joining.
Some polishes and minor bugs can appear; send us feedback on Discord.
Since we started Atomic Picnic, our community has been asking for The Bow and Arrow, which began as a small prototype on the side. Once we felt the charge timing click, it was obvious it needed to become a full weapon. The goal was simple: give back a new playstyle and a gift for all the help you've all given us since the beginning.
Scatter Arrow and Explosive Arrow came from the same mindset. One pushes room control, the other tests your nerve under pressure. Both are meant to expand how players approach fights without turning the Bow into a free damage button.
On the visual side, this update is part of a larger effort we've been quietly working on for months: improving clarity, readability, and the overall atmosphere without changing the game's identity. Small polish steps add up.
Thanks for sticking with us! This weapon has been a long time in the making, and we’re excited to finally get it into your hands.
Here is a wallpaper to celebrate our 1 year of early access and the Bow and Arrow!

Hey Loners,
JD’s back from the workshop. We’ve rebuilt his entire kit from the ground up to make every reload count. This update refines his rhythm, cuts the noise, and turns him into the precise, tempo-driven powerhouse he was always meant to be.
Alongside JD’s overhaul, you’ll find new SFX, visual polish, and a handful of key fixes to keep the picnic running smoothly.
Jade
Simplified for clarity and performance. Effects are easier to read mid-fight, with less visual clutter and smoother triggers.
Core Galore
- Fully reworked to link Overburden and Jade Cores generation directly to Fast Reloads. - Your reload rhythm now fuels JD’s entire gameplay loop, feel the reload beat for better curio sinergy.
Tech Master
Now scales from Jade Cores pickups instead of reloads. Encourages smart positioning and tighter map flow instead of double-dipping on reloads.
Overall Kit Adjustments
More reload-based synergy, less random overlap with Devices. JD’s flow is now leaner, more reactive, and more rewarding for mechanical skill.
🗣️ Developer note: JD should now feel like a disciplined tinkerer; every reload is a calculated moment of power, not just a background animation.
Evolutions SFX
Interlocked Chains
Lotus Rhythm
Melted Light
Weather Cycle
Curios SFX
Late Rage
Lightning in a Bottle
Enemy buffs SFX for Burn, Chill, Freeze, and Shock
Improvements
Better decal rendering: fixed gloss, darkness, and incorrect display issues.
New condition icons: Blaze Rotation & Fire Devil
Stats micro-buff drops on Deposits
Completing a Hijinks with no Curio available now grants a minor upgrade.
Shop image and description updated on Discoveries.
Removed the permanent shop ping; it’s now visible via the compass instead.
Fixed Impostor rendering issues on some AMD GPUs.
Lotus Rhythm VFX no longer lingers after despawn.
Charger SFX no longer loops on the level-up screen.
Adjusted enemy teleport distance logic (affecting Willson and Camille).
Fixed Unlocking Skills background not displaying in Loadout.
Burn VFX for Weather Cycle Evolution is not being displayed.
Some sound effects are still undergoing adjustments and polishing.
JD has always been a tricky one to balance. He’s fast, technical, and built around reload timing, but over time, his kit got noisy.
This update strips away that clutter. JD now plays with intent. Every reload matters, every pickup connects to his flow, and his power curve feels steady instead of spiky.
After Ash's update, this is the second step toward making every character’s identity stronger and their builds more distinct.
See you in the Zone,
Hey Loners,
Update #16 is here, bringing new events, progression systems, and a deep round of fixes and polish to make Atomic Picnic smoother and more rewarding.
New Event: Hijinks
A brand-new event to shake up your runs with fresh chaos.
Curios in Progression
Curios are no longer all available from the start. You’ll unlock more as you progress, giving each run a stronger sense of reward.
Save Backups
Crashes won’t wipe your progress anymore. If something goes wrong, the game will recover from an emergency backup save.
New Cooldown VFX for clearer skill timing
New Boss Health Bar in the UI for better readability during fights
Reload Mods Rework
Reload timings and the minigame position have been adjusted, making each mod feel more distinct.
Mods that granted charges are now sharper in design: previously, 10 charges with minor effects, now 5 charges with bigger effects.
The overall balance is tuned for clarity, with higher values across the board to make their impact more pronounced.
Snowbro Rework
Dashing into Snowbro now applies instant freeze at all levels.
If he explodes on his own, he applies far less Chill.
Increased damage and area importance to make his impact stronger.
UI Tweaks
Skill and player actions are now displayed in the center of the screen.
The Level-up toast has been moved to the bottom-right corner for improved visibility.
Maps on loading screens no longer appear low resolution
Midnight Thread meteor VFX now displays correctly

Clouds now display correctly in City of Sands
Blooming Falset taunt no longer causes enemies to fall through the map
Snowbro, Doom Mines, and Spawns no longer count as Ricochet targets

Hey Loners,
Update #15 puts audio up front. Footsteps, landings, and Curios now speak clearly in the mix, so you read the battlefield with your ears, not just your eyes. Making every step, jump, and fight feel alive.

Hey Loners,
We’ve been cooking more updates for your next Picnic. This one polishes the core loop, makes Peace Time sound even better (and really Brazilian), and throws in a brand-new way to understand Evolutions as you level up. Let’s dig in:

Forest biome bushes reworked
Better legibility on sand, grass, and snow surfaces
Enemy size now reflects their level differences
Fresh VFX for Friaca and Chamusca 🧊🔥
Rebalanced SFX volume for Cocó and Banish Curio
Offering Life Debuff → Now temporary. Life returns once the debuff ends.
Peace Time gets a new Original Song (name TBD)
Offering Event removed from Tutorial
White Wing (Original Song) moved from Peace Time to Camp
Rose now says “Choose a Map” instead of “Start a Picnic” for clearer communication
Warren’s ring attack no longer moves on Pause / Level Up screens

Correct weapon name now shows on pistol discovery
Camp's original songs loop as intended
HUD animations for objectives & events no longer glitch
Lightning Orb Weapon Skill SFX may loop endlessly when triggered
Charger SFX might get stuck in a loop while on the pause screen
Some enemies' hitboxes are misaligned, especially larger enemies, such as Charger and the Elite Snacks
Snowbro VFX area is broken
Midnight Thread meteor VFX is not working
Coco's revenge VFX is not working
Figure skating crystal VFX are not appearing
Sometimes, when opening Taka-chan, there will be an overlay of the game bushes
More evolution stuff!
You've been asking on our Discord for more ways to see evolutions, and we're obliging!
As always, we're continuing to slowly improve the game until our next major release, which will shake things up.
I'm also interested in hearing from you all what the game is currently missing the most: characters, maps, weapons, or is it something completely different? What do you want to see added to the game? Let us know!
Jump back in and test the new Evolutions Recipe Pop-Up! It changes how you plan your runs. Drop feedback, share your OP builds, and keep helping us shape Atomic Picnic into the co-op roguelike chaos we all want it to be.
See you in the Zone,
The Atomic Picnic Team
Hey Loners,
The Zone just got stranger, prettier, and deadlier. This update brings new enemies, new systems, and tons of quality-of-life fixes that make every Picnic smoother and wilder.
👉 Jump back in, test the new features, and tell us what breaks. Your feedback shapes every step forward.
Evolution Weather Cycle – When you recharge, Ice or Fire Orbs will spawn around you, causing CHILL or BURN. Shoot them and see what happens. 🧊🔥
New Enemies on Diamantina – meet the Vacuum and the Spinner, ready to ruin your day.
Events & Objectives Compass – no more getting lost mid-chaos.
Long Descriptions on Level Up – We're exposing all Curio's Stats for more clarity when choosing upgrades, you just need to toggle it on!
New Loading Screen
End Game Screenshot Export – share your OP build with the world
Peace Time – New Original Song to chill before the next storm.
New SFX for Coco Evolution, Instant Singularity, Banish UI, and Break Piñata VFX.
Animated level-up and mementos screens.
Boss and miniboss icons added to the endgame screen.
Polished Peace Time bar.
Fresh clouds in the Tutorial map.
Weapon Mod VFX overhauls:
Pistol: Tri-Shot
Shotgun: Bubbles
Adjusted VFX intensity for Icy Orbs, Snowman, Static Dash, Walkypot, and Portable Galaxy.
Better textures for the Dancing Chest (AKA Taka Chan).
Cleaner stats tab background for readability.
Bullet trajectories now properly match your aiming point. Before, they could be a bit off center sometimes.
All Weapon Skills Buffed
Stat renames for clarity:
Damage Taken → Defense
Cooldown → Cooldown Reduction
Defense and Cooldown Reduction now have positive buffs on a positive percentage. (+50% Defense and +40% Cooldown Reduction are good).

(No balancing changes, just better understanding for players.)
Train Plateau: Train wagon collision fixed.
Social tab no longer pops up mid-picnic.
Removed misleading "Reload" rebind in settings.
Fixed deposits spawning on top of each other.

Turtle Bomber's special attack restored.
Flying enemies are no longer glued to the ground.
Fixed input freeze when banishing Curio during first level-up.
The loadout screen may show broken layout/placeholder values after finishing a multiplayer match.
Curios long descriptions are still untranslated in all languages, including Portuguese.
Hey Loners!
This is a regular update, but it's a bit more meaty than the other ones, with a lot of cool features! 😄
You've been asking us for quite a while now for more information when choosing Curios, and we finally delivered! We're also releasing some new enemies on this one, and this is just the start! You can expect us to release some more enemies in the future!
We're also working on some big, big changes to the Run Flow, and we really need to test these changes because they will impact the entire game. If what you just read has piqued your interest, join our Discord and ask Bill or the Mods to join the Atomic Labs community! 😁

Hey everyone, we're back for another round of updates! This time we're addressing a huge point of pain from the community: more Information!
You all wanted to have more clarity on how to evolve Curios, and we're delivering that on our brand new Level Up Screen!
The UI team has been cooking this for a while, but it doesn't stop here! We are preparing some other things for this new screen! You can expect it to give you even more information so you can make better decisions on your run! Can't wait to share more on our next update ;)
Let us know what you think in the comments below!
That’s it for now,
Go have a Picnic!
Hey Loners, New skies, new tricks, new ways to break the rules.
Here’s what’s cooking in Atomic Picnic:
We rewrote the sky. Literally.
New visuals up there. Cleaner effects everywhere else. Most of the VFX in the game got optimized.
The Offerings event has a new twist. No more paying with HP. Now you trade 30 seconds of nasty debuffs for the Memento of your choice. Worth it? That’s your call.
Tutorial’s tighter. Added a nudge on how to use active skills. Some of you needed it.
Fall off the map? You won’t be crawling back from the start anymore. Respawn closer. Less pain. More game.
Paulão’s shop now stocks upgrades for every single Memento. He’s expanding!
Mini-boss Charles and the Charger enemy finally found their voices.
Now they scream properly, and you can hear them coming.
Gold Goblin no longer gets stuck doing absolutely nothing.
Fire Devil’s missing buff icon is back from vacation.
Shadows on some character areas in camp while playing as a client, and the host didn't have those characters unlocked
Diamantina got a cleanup
Fewer cheesy safe spots
Better step-ups
Fixed some collisions
Warren’s loot should stay inside the map now.
Warren also remembered how to use all his attacks. About time.
Taka-Chan sometimes shows you three of the same evolution when you go over the upgrade cap. And then gives you none. We see it. It’s on the list.
Performance upgrades! I managed to play with around ~35 FPS on MAX settings on my Steam Deck after this update; it was amazing! The VFX and Programming team successfully reduced the footprint of all our VFX by an incredible amount, enabling some team members who previously had 10 FPS to achieve 30 FPS, which is CRAZY!
As always, we will continue to add more features and expand the game based on the community's feedback. We have some exciting features planned for our next major release, and we're fully focused on that. It'll take a while, tho. Meanwhile, some additional features will be introduced next, including an improved Level Up screen and changes to the deposits found throughout the map.
That’s it for now.
Go break the game. Or at least try.
Hey everyone, thanks for the reports and feedback! This hotfix addresses an issue players have found after we released our second major release.
Getting the Candle-lit Yoyo evolution while having one or two extra Impulse Gear charges will freeze and crash the game.
We also rebalanced the discovery for unlocking the night maps to make it more straightforward for everyone.
Removed the criteria about event interaction
Added the criteria of winning without reviving an ally
Added the criteria of winning, taking less than 200 damage
Please let us know if you encounter any other issues. We can be reached at our
Hope you all have some fun Picnics over the weekend, Cheers!
Hey Loners,
First off — huge thanks to everyone who’s been dropping kind words, detailed feedback, and awesome reviews on the last Major update. We read it all (yes, even the long ones), and it seriously means the world to us. Your support helps shape Atomic Picnic every step of the way. 💚
However, a new update has just arrived! We’ve got a fresh batch of visual polish, smoother gameplay moments, and a few spicy rebalances to bosses and progression. Let’s dig in:
New End Game Screen – Your victory (or demise) just got a proper send-off. Way cooler. Way clearer.
Skip All for Discoveries – Found a bunch of stuff during your Picnic? No more spam-clicking! Just hit "Skip All" and breeze through those unlocks.
Gyro Aiming Support – Gamepad players, this one's for you: DS4, DS5, and Pro Controller users can now enable gyro aiming by cranking up sensitivity.
Loner’s Camp Progression Rework – Camp areas now unlock as you discover new characters. Exploration pays off.
Bosses and minibosses are rebalanced, mainly in terms of damage and life.
Also, scaling for multiple players
Charger SFX – His stomps now match his steps.
Cooldown Reduction Bug – Stacking multiple curios that affect cooldowns won’t turn your skills to mush anymore.
Mag Size Bug – Fixed an issue where stacking mag size curios could leave you with... no mags. Not ideal.
Octavio’s Shield – Doesn’t scale properly in multiplayer (yet).
Crashes/Freezes – We’re tracking down some nasty stability gremlins. If you’ve been hit, please let us know on Discord or in the Steam discussions; logs are helpful.
That’s it for now. Thank you for playing and sending feedback. It helps us make Atomic Picnic better with every update.
Go check out the new stuff, and as always…
Don’t forget to bring your Impulse Gear. Things get wild out there.

Hey everyone, thanks for all the reports and feedback!
This hotfix addresses one issue players have found since the update launched and another pesky crash that has been haunting us for a bit.
Fix UI being stuck for some players after they return to the camp from a Picnic.
We identified and resolved the audio-related crash that players have been reporting, where the sound effects would break and the game would gradually become unstable until it crashed.
Please let us know if you encounter any other issues. We can be reached on our Discord.gg/AtomicPicnic
Hope you all have some lovely Picnics over the weekend, Cheers!
Hey Loners,
Let’s not dance around it:
We cracked the game open. Rewired the systems. Burned the balance sheet. Kicked multiplayer in the shins (lovingly). And then built it all back up: better, faster, meaner, and with a lot of new goodies.
Warning: This is not a small patch.
We heard you: Enemies were too spongy. Damage felt weak. Some skills hit like wet noodles, others broke the game...
So we changed it:
Damage tuning for ALL enemies.
Health and scaling curves revamped.
Player power progression smoothed.
Objectives rebalanced.
Moment-to-moment combat? Faster, deadlier, way more satisfying.
Atomic Picnic should feel like a fight for survival, without feeling like a chore.
5 New Evolutions to power up your builds.
Figure Skating
Freeze and Knockback enemies whenever you Gear Dash!
Instant Singularity
Create Black Holes that draw anything that comes near them to their event horizon!
Interlocked Chains
Tether yourself to enemies and Tether enemies to enemies!
Cocó
Your friendly robot chicken that taunts enemies and heals you!
Lotus Rhythm
Accumulate Orbs whenever you fast reload; these orbs randomly shoot very powerful bullets towards your enemies!
Spongeblaze
Shuriken Burst (You want to be a ninja? Go for it!)
Forget everything you know about boss fights in Atomic Picnic. Warren is different.
This is the biggest boss we've ever created
City of Sands now has a big new boss!
Aggressive and relentless, with arena control mechanics that force you to move smart.
If you’re not dodging... you’re dying!
After the Harvest Festival, reality was broken, and the world was never the same. This is especially true for the small mine of Diamantina, which was severely affected by the apocalyptic event. Reports indicate that the mine itself began to take on a different form, something akin to the artifacts people call "Mementos". Arms began to grow from the bare rock, destroying anything in its path, albeit very, very slowly... Now, only Loners dare venture to search for answers to whatever happened to that place.
New Map Mechanic: Abyss.
Falling off the map will respawn you somewhere safe, but it will take some of your HP.
Unique level layout.
Experience intense fights in both open and closed spaces, and you'll quickly find why Diamantina is such an inhospitable place.
Now you'll be able to evolve your Loadout during a Picnic!
After a certain number of level-ups, players will get a special "Loadout Refinement" choice!
Loners will be able to choose during the run between a permanent upgrade to their Weapon, Device, or Character Skill.
These new choices are sure to change how you think about your build completely!
As you may have seen, in recent patches we made MANY changes to our multiplayer to improve stability and connection quality. Performance and significantly reduced lag. If you bounced off before… now’s the time to Picnic your way back in.
Check out the Picnic Finder!
You can now find multiplayer rooms when you talk to Rose and select a map to play. Get transported to other players' Camps and play with other Loners!
We hope this helps your Picnics feel like a chaotic party now!
We’re not done yet... but this is a huge step forward. We'd love it if you could send us any bugs you find so that we can continue to improve your experience. You can join our Discord to share logs and more detailed information.
Discovery system rebalance: Unlocks are now easier and faster to discover
Mementos rebalance: We slashed all Mementos prices! The total cost of completing all Mementos is now 1/4 of the original cost! Some Mementos now also offer more points to purchase!
New song: Rebellion Bonds! Take a sneak peek at the latest trailer!
Miniboss: Charles – Even Warren has friends... He is fast and violent. Stay sharp.
Major performance improvements
Because we optimized our enemies to run faster on the CPU, even single-player matches will feel much smoother.
UI and UX Improvements
And more! There are too many things in this update; we might've missed some of them here, sorry!
Higher chance of appearing a Curio that completes an evolution once you choose the other part of the evolution.
Evolutions' recipes are now available on the ESC menu.
Character's first active skill is now unlocked by default.
Rocket Launcher now does not apply knockback to other players.
Taka-chan now drops either 3 or 5 curios.
Life drops in piñatas increased from 10 to 25.
Curios and evolutions' names and descriptions review for easier understanding.
Refreshing Brew → Ricocheting Flavor
Scarlet Meniscus → Scarlet Vision
Deferred Frustration → Late Rage
Floobber → Ballistic Blob
Nope → Bullet Gaze
Eau du Medama → Doom Perfume
Bitter Barking Brew → Berserk Brew
Assimilar → Revenge Reverb
Gig → Tether Pad
One-Eyed Whirli → Twister Baker
Firebranded Whisk → Pyro Brush
Blooming Falset → Liquid Decoy
Alternate Actuality → Snowbro
Candle-lit Yoyo → Blaze Rotation
Chain Light → Chain Shock
Recursive Scissors → Cut-Paste
Visual Improvements
New VFX for damage taken.
New VFX for low life.
Quality of Life Improvements
Auto-collect boss drops.
Character, weapons, and devices are now shown in the UI in the expected order of unlock.
The game won't auto-select a curio for players after 30 seconds when playing solo.
When a covey member disconnects, its health bar does not react appropriately on the HUD.
Mine's from Doom Perfume curio detonate instantly upon spawning.
The shop appears without items when starting a picnic.
Stutter movement for players while trying to walk over minor collisions.
Flying enemies are getting stuck to the ground.
If a character does damage while using Air Gear and has a curio that does the same, the Damage Per Second won't be displayed on the End Game Screen.
Fixes for disappearing UI during picnics.
Gold Goblin is falling into the abyss in Diamantina
As a client, banishing the curio at the center during the first level-up causes input to remain blocked until the next level-up
Here it is!
We've done it, we completely rebalanced the entire game, everything. Enemies, Objectives, and Curios, we tweaked a lot of parameters, and most of it was due to your direct feedback.
This is something we've been wanting to do for quite a while now, but behind the scenes, there was so much we had to do to get it right... We even overhauled a significant portion of our AI Director system, which is responsible for spawning and evolving enemies. It took a long time to get to where we are now, but I think this is the best version of the game yet. Hopefully, it'll only get better from here with your feedback.
And I mean with your feedback, none of this would be possible without the over 1,200 pieces of feedback sent to us, and, of course, all the reviews! I think this update proves that we're doing our best to listen to the community and adjust course accordingly.
Please continue to support us so we can make Atomic the best game it can be!
Cheers,
Edu
