Hello everyone,
As we get ready to step out of winter, we wanted to share an update on what we have planned for the rest of the year across the Assassin's Creed franchise. We are joined by Jean Guesdon, Head of Content, who just came back to the franchise. In case you missed the announcement, check it out.Let's dive in!A word from Jean Guesdon - Assassin’s Creed Franchise
Let's start with our latest release from last year.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is about to turn one!Since launch, the experience has evolved with new features and updates, shaped in large part by your feedback. Our recent parkour refinements are a direct result of regular feedback sessions, both in person and online, with our most engaged players and creators. On behalf of the entire Shadows team: THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF THE JOURNEY! This past year has been a rewarding learning experience for us, built on this strong collaboration. We want to carry this mindset forward as a foundation to further strengthen our connection with you in the future. Come celebrate with us on March 20!Now it's time to celebrate! Tune in to our official Ubisoft Twitch channel for a livestream starting at 10AM PT / 6PM CET with a focus on our latest game update and we might even reveal the winners of our Parkour Challenge, along with some drops and giveaways! As we reach this milestone, Shadows will be moving into its final phase of support. We're winding things down with smaller, less frequent updates... but still a few surprises! At the same time, our teams will begin shifting more focus toward what's next for Assassin's Creed. So, what is next? You may ask. Codename HEXEWhile we know we haven’t shared much about this one yet, it’s being built with great care by our veteran team here at Ubisoft Montreal. Expect a unique, darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience, set during a pivotal moment in history. You may have seen the recent news: I have recently taken the role of Creative Director for the project, in addition to my new responsibilities as Head of Content. We are taking the time to deliver on its ambitious vision, which means we’ll be quiet for a little longer, but we love seeing all the enthusiasm happening on our channels and can’t wait to unveil more when the time is right. Codename INVICTUS is progressing steadily with a test and learn approach.Codename Invictus is a PvP multiplayer Assassin's Creed experience led by a dedicated team of For Honor veterans at Ubisoft Montreal. We understand there's a lot of curiosity around this project: yes, it's a new approach to multiplayer in the franchise, but it isn't quite what the rumors have suggested. With player feedback at the heart of our approach, we're exploring ways to bring the community in earlier so we can shape the experience together. The team is incredibly passionate about what they're building, and their work reflects our broader goal of offering a wider variety of experiences within the Assassin's Creed universe.Beyond these, we have several other projects currently in the works, all at different stages of development, including Assassin's Creed Jade. We're also looking into bringing co‑op back to Assassin's Creed --- a detail we know didn't go unnoticed. And while we recently chose to pivot away from an early project, the lessons from that work are already helping shape our approach going forward. What matters most to us is giving each project the time it deserves and releasing them when they are ready.Speculation around Assassin's Creed is not new, but it's worth repeating: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon. 🦜Let's now look at imminent updates! Expect more news on the Netflix live-action series very soon!
Yes, it's been long in the making, but Assassin's Creed is taking the leap to a live-action series! You may have seen news about the cast lately, and we can't wait for you to discover more. Something tells us you won't have to wait very long. 👀Finally, continuing to support our older games matters to us. We know how much those titles mean to many of you, and that they're often the first entry point for new players discovering the franchise. And on this topic, we have a last thing to share... A free 60 FPS patch for Assassin's Creed Unity is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 tomorrow! We know some of you have been waiting for it for a long time, so get ready to re‑experience 18th century Paris and Arno's fancy parkour moves with more smoothness on consoles! And for our Xbox players out there, we've got a little treat, as multiple Assassin's Creed games will be playable for free for a limited time for Xbox Free Play Days, from April 2nd to 6th! Perfect time to try Unity in that 60 FPS beauty.Thank you for being part of the journey.
As we conclude this update, for all our projects in development, we want to involve our most engaged fans in shaping them. If you'd like to be part of that, join the conversation - whether on our Discord or across our online channels. We're always looking for passionate voices to share ideas, perspectives, and feedback to inspire our work and help shape the future of the franchise.
To our players,
We have deployed a hotfix for Assassin's Creed Shadows to address Naoe's Kunai dealing minimum damage when upgraded to Kunai Assassination Damage III for players who have the Claws of Awaji DLC installed. We have also addressed crashing issues when checking downloaded content.

With a kidnapped Titan-Shifter as their weapon, a mysterious, power-hungry faction has infiltrated feudal Japan, setting their sights on total domination.
But when an attempt to rescue the Shifter fails, the lone survivor (with a dark secret) recruits Naoe and Yasuke to help her stop the group from unleashing the terror of a Titan on Japan.
Please note that this is a time-limited quest that is available from November 25th - December 22nd.
The quest giver is in the Yamashiro region, North of Hanazo Tower (the icon is displayed on the map). Note that the quest will not be within the objective board until the player interacts with the quest giver.
Unlock conditions: Unlock Yasuke as a playable character.
During the quest, players can find customization for their hideout (banners and a statue) and upon quest completion, players will earn a crystal katana for Naoe.
Alongside the story quest, there will also be an Attack on Titan Dual Pack. Inspired by the Attack on Titan universe, this pack will include outfits, weapons, trinkets, and a new mount. Available from the in-game store starting November 25th.
Who is up for some friendly competition?
"A Puzzlement" is the 3rd story drop coming to Assassin's Creed Shadows. In this fun and humorous quest, Naoe and Yasuke encounter two old acquaintances having a loud argument about a mysterious door in south Wakasa. They task our protagonists with figuring out how to open it.
During the quest, Naoe and Yasuke will learn new skills from each other:
Naoe will learn how to perform her own spectacular version of Yasuke's war kick ability.
Yasuke will learn how to stealthily dispatch enemies in a non-lethal way.
You may also finally be able to settle the debate as to who would win in a straight up duel between our two protagonists. Have no fear, the duel is purely friendly, and totally harmless.
As the name suggests, "A Puzzlement", also introduces a brand new and intricate environmental puzzle for players to discover.
Unlock conditions: Unlock Yasuke as a playable character, and upon doing so, defeat two of the Shinbakufu.
Improvements have also been made to Corrupted Castles. The chances of encountering the same castles from the previous season have been reduced, and the available castles each season will now provide a better distribution of Daisho per castles.

Corrupted Castles are a new Animus themed activity allowing you to revisit castles in a whole new way. Previously completed castles may now become corrupted. They will now be filled with Animus anomalies such as Corrupted Samurai Daisho that patrol with heightened aggression and altered patterns. Kill them all to unlock a Corrupted Castle's chest that awards Gear and Gold, making each assault a meaningful experience.
Starting at level 30 and after completing at least 3 castles, up to five corrupted castles will appear on the map each season, giving you plenty of opportunities to re-engage the castles at higher levels for greater rewards.
Following our first Parkour update, we’ve listened to your feedback and we’re coming back with more! The team has made some tweaks and improvements to enhance your experience traversing Feudal Japan.
Here are the main changes and additions!
We are adding a new toggle option named “Advanced Parkour” that gives players more freedom of expression. When toggled through the gameplay menu, it removes all parkour barriers, meaning you can perform side and back ejects from any height. Time to risk life and limb for those death-defying parkour runs!
The Advanced Parkour option also brings refined control for side and back ejects. Pressing Parkour Up while jumping to the side or back will still give you the height to reach your landing spot. This has not changed since the previous parkour update.
However, if a decent landing spot is not available, you will now launch sideways or behind as far as possible, without any height restriction.
Performing a side eject with parkour down will send you downward at a sharp angle, generally closer to your starting point, meaning you will never gain any height.
The Advance Parkour option enables subtle changes that we hope the parkour aficionados out there will enjoy!
Let’s now look at our overall parkour improvements (the ones that will work whether you toggle the Advanced Parkour option on/off).
We are extending the Vertical Ledge Grab ability to now include Non-Standing Objects such as beams, lanterns and more. Another small, but impactful parkour tweak!
From the same Non-Standing Objects, we are introducing a new Manual Jump option. This enables you to refine the parkour experience, by making creative shortcuts when running along rooftops or beams.
This is not a full manual jump. This only works from Non-Standing Objects.
And finally, we are re-introducing a highly requested feature called the Directional Catch Ledge. Simply press towards the nearest ledge and tap the Parkour Up button to catch that ledge and prevent your character from falling.
This works from any height, and it is particularly useful when combined with the Advanced Parkour option, or when you overestimate your grapple hook dismounts!
While the Gold Katana and Long Katana introduced in TU 1.1.2 are still bound to New Game +, we’ve added NEW Gold weapons that can be earned by completing the following challenges.
Tanto – Complete all Legendary Sumi-e
Bow – Complete all Horse Archery
Kusarigama – Complete all Meditation
Naginata – Complete all Kata
Kanabo– Reach level 100
Teppo – Reach Hideout level 13
Since the last July update, we have increased the number of available weekly Anomalies so Projects can be progressed faster. To rebalance this change, on October 28th, we will be reducing the amount of Keys available in the Infinite Reward tier from 400 to 100 Keys.
We strongly encourage you to activate a different Project once all main rewards have been claimed, as this is a great way to unlock new content and get more Keys.
In the Projects menu, the Anomalies tab will now be accessible from the rewards page instead of the menu's landing page.
With the release of Corrupted Castles, a related Anomaly will be available in every weekly rotation to award Data Fragments for completing this new activity.

Here are the global release timings for the Claws of Awaji expansion:
Warning: Light spoilers for the base game of Assassin's Creed Shadows below.
Access to the Claws of Awaji is contingent upon completion of the main story arcs for both Naoe and Yasuke. Make sure you have finished the quest \ "Out of the Shadows" \, which is available after completing the personal quests for Naoe, Yasuke, and Junjiro.
Then simply track down Hanzo's contact at your Hideout in Settsu and you'll be able to embark on the new journey to the mysterious island of Awaji.
We also would like to inform MacOS users eligible for the Claws of Awaji DLC that the content may not be accessible immediately after launching the game for the first time following the release of the DLC.
To resolve this, please launch the game while connected online, then close it and reboot—either online or offline—to ensure the DLC becomes available. \
September 16 also brings a new free quest for all owners of the game to introduce the Bo staff! After completing the quest to unlock the weapon and train Naoe in its use, you will add the Bo to her arsenal. Please note that procedural Bo drops across Japan are exclusive to owners of Claws of Awaji. We hope you enjoy this new addition to Naoe's toolkit!
Owners of the expansion will also find unique new armor and gear pieces throughout the expansion's story and activities, with new appearances and new powers.
Similarly, new skills and weapon abilities for both Naoe and Yasuke are available to all players.
However, the various Legendary Bo Staves, each with their own unique engravings, will primarily be available on the island of Awaji by completing the story and clearing castles. Additional Legendary Bo Staves will be released via the Animus Hub and through bundles in the Store.
Warning! Heavy spoilers for the base game of Assassin's Creed Shadows beyond this point.

A storm is coming.
A new threat rises from across Osaka Bay as rumors surface of a hidden blade wielding shinobi, and of a long-lost relic. Naoe and Yasuke journey to a new land in search of answers, but find themselves surrounded by danger, ensnared in the Claws of Awaji.
In this expansion to Assassin's Creed Shadows, discover a new island region dominated by the Sanzoku Ippa, a nefarious faction intent on uncovering the final Regalia. Avoid traps and ambushes as you track the legendary Fujibayashi Tsuyu, and as Naoe, master the new Bo staff to eliminate enemies with tactical efficiency. New legendary gear, skills and abilities also await across more than 10 hours of additional content.
Join Junjiro in his quest to meet a legendary Bo Master and learn more about the Bo staff, a dynamic new weapon type perfectly suited to Naoe's acrobatic fighting style. Upon finishing the quest, you will receive a Bo to use across your adventures.
Originally developed exclusively for the Claws of Awaji expansion, we thought this weapon was way too cool not to share with everyone... for FREE! You get a Bo! And you! And you at the back! Everyone gets a Bo, coming September 16th.
To support the launch of the Claws of Awaji expansion we've raised the level cap to 100, giving players more room to grow and more options to customize their builds.
With the new update, each unique building now includes 2 additional upgrade levels, bringing a total of 20 new enhancements, alongside 3 new Hideout levels.
These upgrades introduce valuable bonuses that accelerate Hideout growth, improve crafting capability by making Gold more accessible, and directly enhance Naoe, Yasuke, and their allies, making them more effective in both combat and exploration.
By upgrading the Nando to level 2, the player will gain the ability to meditate and skip time forward to the next 6 o'clock (AM or PM). To activate meditation, find a safe location and hold the up button (L on keyboard). This allows Naoe and Yasuke to prepare for nighttime assault and be ready to strike \ Castle at night.
Upgrading the Study to level 4 now allows Scouts to reveal both Viewpoints and Safehouses. Discovering Safehouses is especially valuable, as it enables Naoe and Yasuke to join the action more quickly by reducing their travel time.
And with the Kakurega upgraded to level 4, uncovering all Viewpoints within a province will also reveals the entire province automatically, giving players full visibility of its terrain and strategic locations. No more fog!
By upgrading the Forge to level 6, Naoe and Yasuke gain the ability to enhance their gear to new quality tiers: Mythic and Artifact. Once an item reaches a new quality, it can be further upgraded through eight additional levels to unlock its full potential.
Epic items can be transformed into Mythic items, which improve their stats with each level, add a Boosted Stat if one wasn't present, and boost non-legendary perks, including the one in the engraving slot, by 50% at level 5 and 100% at level 9. \ (For perks related to damage reduction, refill ration, ammo, or tools, this bonus is halved, capping at a 50% increase at level 9.) \
Legendary items, on the other hand, can evolve into Artifact items, which not only increase their stats with each level but also receive additional Boosted Stats at levels 3, 7, and twice at level 9. Engraved non-legendary perks are also boosted like the Mythic items.
These powerful enhancements are designed as long-term goals, supporting players through the increasing difficulty of subsequent New Game+ cycles and other upcoming challenges.
We are releasing a new Project available in the Animus HUB, called Sanctuary, in which you can get Ezio themed gear, kusarigama, and much more! Activate the new Project, complete Anomalies and progress through the rewards like previously released ones.
With the release of the Claws of Awaji expansion, we added new Anomalies available in that region, with one available in every schedule. These Anomalies are only available for players who have the expansion installed.

Prepare to push beyond your limits! We've raised the level cap from 60 to 80, meaning tougher foes with enhanced tactics and awareness - demanding sharper reflexes and smarter strategies.
To meet this rising threat, we've also expanded the Knowledge Rank system to 9 & 10 allowing players to unlock and develop a broader array of skills, passives, and combat techniques to become even more masterful.
